The morning after returning from the full moon cycle outing, Jesse asked Atlantis for a place he and Toran could play, little knowing that he really, as far the expedition members were aware, should not have been able to do that. Atlantis gave him a location in the south tower, a place the expedition hadn't yet gotten to explore, so they had no idea what was in the south tower, yet. Before the end of the day, they'd have a very good idea.

Xander awoke a little later than usual, feeling a bit lazy after the relaxing trip to the mainland, but still ready to explore a new facility, hopefully, one that didn't have any demons in it. With a half teasing, half serious instruction from Cordelia to 'stay out of brothels, alien or otherwise, if he knew what was good for him', yeah, he'd known she wasn't going to let that go so easily, Cordelia headed back to the lab and Xander headed to the gate room, wondering what they would find.

A facility that made hoverbikes. Oh boy, was that going to go over well back on Earth. Once they'd been reverse engineered, the Stargate Program could practically pay for itself. Xander, Sheppard and Ronan had a great time 'testing' those hoverbikes, while Teyla watched indulgently, like an older sister, while Rodney nervously talked about the dangers. It was a very reluctant group that finally headed back to Atlantis, but not before Ronan and Xander managed to get one into the back of the jumper. Sheppard watching approvingly the whole time and Rodney insisting Elizabeth wasn't going to be happy.

She was more ambivalent actually, she just sighed and said, everyone on the expedition was going to want one of their own. She too, looked like an indulgent older sister as she saw Sheppard and Ronan, not to mention Xander practically bouncing on their toes. Boys, it seemed, they never completely grew up, regardless of what galaxy they came from.

After stowing the hoverbike in the jumper bay, Xander headed to the lab to fill Cordelia in.

"Well, it's better than you ending up in a brothel. Just keep Jesse away from it, he's too young to ride one."

"Sure, by the way, where is Jesse?"

"I don't know, he said he was going to play with Toran. We should check on him. Radak assures me, the explored areas have all been made safe, but we've already seen that they missed some stuff."

So they went to see Elizabeth and ask for help in locating were the boys had gone to play. Neither of them were wearing the earpieces they'd been given so tracking them down was a bit difficult. So Elizabeth had Rodney do a search using the scanners. When that came up blank though, people started to get nervous. The scanners covered all of the explored areas. Which meant they'd either found another shielded area or had gone outside the explored areas, something that they had both been told not to do.

"Where could Jesse have gotten to?" Xander said. "I swear, we need to put a tracker on that boy."

A hologram suddenly flickered to life in front of Xander, startling everyone in the gate room. Previously, the only place a hologram had been seen in Atlantis had been the information booth room. Then it spoke.

"Jesse Harris-Chase queried the system for a location were he and Toran Emmagan could seek entertainment appropriate to their age. They were directed to the south tower recreation area. Shall I direct you to their location?"

"Yes." Dr. McKay said. "How come we haven't seen this before?"

When no reply was received. Xander spoke again. "Could you direct us to this entertainment area?"

"Yes." The location flashed on a screen in the back of the control room.

"Why do you answer my questions, but not Dr. McKay's?" Xander asked the hologram.

"You are an Alteran, I am programed to automatically respond to appropriate inquiries from Alterans, visiting or residing with Atlantis."

"Who else do you recognize as Alteran?" Xander asked.

"Cordelia Harris-Chase, Jesse Harris-Chase, Colonel John Sheppard, Dr. Carson Beckett." The hologram continued until it had listed all of the expedition members that carried the Ancient gene, except those with an artificial version.

"So you recognize us as being related to the Atlantians?" Xande asked.

"Yes."

"Thank you for your assistance."

The hologram disappeared and all Hell broke loose in the control room.

"How the Hell are you related to the Ancients?" Rodney yelled.

"I'm surprised you don't know that Dr. McKay, I guess someone forgot to pass the information on to you. Two years ago, Jesse found a Quantum Mirror and touched it. He just thought it was a mirror. He ended up in another reality where he met another version of Cordelia and me and their daughter, Abigail, named for our grandmother. When they brought him back, they filled us in on a few things that they'd learned in their reality. Did you ever meet Helia, the Captain of an Ancient ship trapped in the void between galaxies?"

"Yes, she and her crew were killed by the Replicators."

"My counterpart met her, too. She scanned him and later others with the gene. We're descended from them. Besides the gene, there are some difference in our brains, which is why we can connect more easily to Ancient technology than people with the artificial gene can. I guess Atlantis considers us the same people."

"Elizabeth, why weren't we told about this?" Rodney asked, incredulous that such monumental information had been kept from them.

"I'm betting the IOA had something to do with it. Being paranoid that the descendants of aliens live on Earth. I mean it's one thing to study alien technology or accidentally evolve a gene that helps understand that technology, but something else to have confirmation of actual aliens or their descendants living on Earth. The IOA especially would imagine all kinds of concerns about it." Sheppard said.
