(Disclaimer: I do not own Treasure Planet; just my OC's)

(Authors Note: Greetings fellow readers and writers! I'm so excited to be presenting this first chapter of my latest story to all of you! So, I've actually been wanting to write a Disney FF for a while now but I wasn't sure which film to base it off of as there are so many good ones to pick from; then I went back and watched Treasure Planet (thanks to Disney+) and was immediately inspired to write. Now, like the summary says, this is a Flint/OC pairing, so there won't be any mention of Jim or Silver or any of the other characters you may be expecting_except B.E.N and Billy Bones of course :) Also, you may be wondering why Flint? Well, why not? He's only given cameos yet he's frequently mentioned within the film and personally, he's rather underrated and deserves a major part in a FF. With that being said, I hope you all enjoy this first chapter :) Thank you.)

Chapter 1

**As the evening fog continued to roll in thick, ominous waves, a young woman stood by the docks as a figure slowly emerged and approached: He was very tall in height and had six golden eyes that seemed to glow in the mist, while his fangs were long and frightening-looking. Yet, despite these otherwise terrifying features, there was a sense of familiarity about him. Cautiously, the woman stepped forward as he extended out his hand and offered it to her. Taking a hold of his sharp, clawed fingers, she was then gently pulled into his strong, protective embrace.**

*tap, tap, tap*

The familiar sound of rain pelting against the glass slowly became audible as Maryam Weller emitted a yawn and lazily sat upright in her bed as her sapphire blue eyes adjusted to the darkness of her room. Although the half felinid/half human hybrid could see well in the dark, she needed a moment to (fully) wake up before stepping out of bed. Remembering her dream, she pondered over what it could possibly mean: was there any significance to it? Was it an omen or a premonition? Normally, she paid little attention to her dreams, but lately she'd been having the same one every night and it never changed. Running a hand through her long golden hair, the young woman emitted a sigh before swinging her legs over the side of the bed and removing herself from the blanketed warmth.

Slipping out of her nightgown, she glanced over at the small vanity mirror and gazed upon her reflection: standing at an average 5 '4 (1.64592 meters), she had a slender build with desirable curves, fair skin, lush/gentle lips, bright eyes, and an adorable pair of felinid ears that displayed her emotions. Picking up her brush, Maryam gently ran it through her long golden locks and groaned as the rain relentlessly continued to fall from the sky.

It had been raining for nearly three weeks straight, but that was to be expected of Audra as it was (primarily) a water-based planet that was well-known for its powerful storms and churning seas. Why anyone would want to settle here was beyond her understanding, but as this water world was her home, she didn't really have anything else to compare it to_unless she counted the various holo-illustrations from her childhood storybooks. A small smile appeared along her face at the thought of one day leaving this miserable planet, but she knew the likelihood of that ever happening was slim to none as her Father was against the idea of her venturing out into the unknown.

Of course, she knew he was just afraid of losing her.

With a sigh, Maryam pushed aside her negative thoughts and began to dress herself for the day while mentally hoping that something interesting would happen. At this point, anything would be a welcomed change compared to the mundane events she was accustomed to.

Upon donning the rest of her outfit, Maryam exited her room and descended down the stairs, to which she stepped over to the kitchen and began fixing breakfast for herself and her Father, knowing he was still abed. As she seared a couple of tripe fish in the pan, a clash of thunder erupted outside, indicating that today's storm would be rough. Yet, despite the foul weather, the residents of Audra would go about their day-to-day lives as usual because that was the norm of this water world. In fact, a day without any sort of rain was almost unheard of. Sure, there were days when the rains would temporarily stop and the clouds would part, but it was always fleeting and never lasted more than a few hours at most.

*sigh* "I wish I could see the stars for myself," Maryam sighed as she flipped the fish and added some eggs and seasonings to the pan. As she monitored the food, the familiar smell of pipe weed wafted into the room, signaling that her Father was present:

"So, I see you started making breakfast despite the fact that it's your birthday and I should be the one cooking for you," Tobias Weller noted as he approached his daughter and kissed her temple.

"Not to be rude, but we both know you can't cook," she replied with a smirk, causing him to chuckle.

"Aye, you got me there." He then reached into his vest pocket and pulled out a small parcel, "Happy Birthday, my starlight."

Tilting her head, Maryam asked, "When did you find the time to get me a present?"

At her question, the felinid gave her a fatherly smile, "Actually, your Mother wanted you to have this when you turned 25 since that was the age it came into her possession."

Curiously, the hybrid opened the box and emitted a gasp at what she saw: it was a beautiful gold chain with a large ethereal opal pendant in its center. "It's so lovely."

"Aye, that it is. She said it belonged to her great-grandmother who had received it as a wedding present from her husband, Captain Feneard McDonalley."

"Wow. I never knew she had this."

"Well, that's because she never really wore it unless it was for a special occasion_like our wedding day," he added with a sad look in his eyes, to which she wrapped her arms around him:

"Thank you Papa."

"Of course, but it's your Mother who really deserves your thanks. I merely kept her gift safe and hidden all these years. In truth, I'm surprised you never found it with how nosey you were as a wee girl."

"What's this 'were' you speak of? I'm still nosey."

He chuckled and lovingly rubbed the top of her head, "Aye, that you are, my starlight. I always said you inherited that trait from your Mother." With a smile, he then watched as she adorned the precious necklace, "You look more like her with each passing year."

At his compliment, Maryam felt tears in her sapphire eyes, to which she hugged him once more, "Thanks Papa."

"Of course," he gently rubbed the top of head and held her close as she softly began to purr, bringing a smile to his face, knowing she inherited that little trait from him.

-Later-

After breakfast and cleanup, the Weller's headed to the front of the building where their shop was located: being the best (and only) tailor and seamstress in town, they were solely responsible for constructing, altering, repairing and modifying the various garments that were brought in. At the moment, Maryam was hard at work mending an overcoat that belonged to a renowned merchant named Edmund Swift: He was a shrewd mantavor that came from a very prestigious and powerful family, and while he publicly came off as an honest and noble individual, he was actually rather unpleasant and quite dangerous if crossed.

While the Weller's had no love for the man, they certainly didn't want to start a war they couldn't win. That, and he owned half the town, including the building they resided/worked in, so the fear of eviction was always in the back of their minds. Thankfully, their skills were needed by many of their fellow townsfolk, so they had that slight advantage/leverage. That, and Mr. Swift had taken a fancy towards Maryam and had proposed to her nearly a fortnight ago.

Oh yes, Miss Weller was engaged to be married to Mr. Swift. In fact, the overcoat she was currently working on was actually part of his ceremonial attire for their upcoming wedding.

A frown lined her fair face as she looked upon the garment, but her thoughts were interrupted when her Father spoke up from his workbench: "You don't have to marry him, you know."

*sigh* "I wish that were true. I don't want to marry him, but I also don't want you to lose everything you've worked so hard for." Glancing back at the overcoat, she ran her fingers along the stitching, "If I marry him, he's promised to sign the deed to the building over to you and even relocate you to the Audra spaceport. You'll finally be able to leave this soggy planet and retire in comfort."

Giving his daughter a smile, the felinid answered, "You're just like your Mother: always looking out for others while ignoring your own needs and desires."

"Maybe I am like her, but I only want what's best for you. I see how the constant rain has been affecting your health lately. I know you can't afford the medical treatment, but if I were to marry Edmund, I could finally get you the help you need. I just_I don't want to lose you like I lost Mum."

Before he could respond, the door to their shop opened, ringing the overhead bell in the process. Both Weller's glanced over to see Edmund Swift and two of his men: One was a densadron and the other was a grewnge.

"Ah, Mr. Swift, we weren't expecting you for another hour."

Glancing at the felinid, the mantavor spoke in a gravelly voice, "My meeting was canceled; however, I'm here to present a gift to my bride-to-be_assuming she hasn't changed her mind," he added while making eye contact with Maryam, to which she shook her head:

"No."

"I'm glad to hear that. Now, aside from your gift, I also came to inform you that tonight you'll be accompanying me to the Audra spaceport. I'll send one of my men to pick you up and escort you to the ship where I will be waiting."

"Pardon me for asking, but what is the reason for this sudden request? As your fiance, shouldn't I be permitted to know why I'll be traveling to the spaceport on such short notice?"

"We will discuss my reasons upon our arrival, but not sooner. Consider it a surprise, if you will," he neutrally added before one of his men (the densadron) placed a large wooden chest at her feet. "I trust the contents within will be to your liking. Feel free to make any necessary alterations before tonight as I expect you to wear all of the items within."

She gave him a nod of understanding and thanks before presenting him with his finished overcoat, to which he tipped his hat and paid for the service before leaving with his men.

Once Edmund and his men were gone, Maryam opened the chest and gasped upon seeing the ornate dress delicately displayed before her. "_It's so pretty."

"You should go upstairs and try it on. After all, you only have a few hours left to make any alterations," her Father noted, to which she emitted a sigh and gave a nod in agreement.

After nearly twenty minutes of struggling, Maryam finally finished adorning all the contents of the gifted chest and was now standing in front of her vanity mirror, looking like royalty. Instead of her plain seamstress dress, shoes and apron, she now wore an off-shoulder, champagne colored ball gown that was made of satin and lace, with small (semi-precious) crystal beads along the bust and down the train. Aside from the dress, she also wore a pair of crystal slippers and a stunning set of jewelry, which included a gold and diamond choker necklace, matching earrings, hair comb and bracelet. Of course, she also wore her Mother's necklace as she wanted to honor her memory.

*knock, knock, knock*

"Come in."

Stepping into the bedroom, Tobias Weller smiled as he looked upon his daughter, "And here I thought you couldn't get any prettier. You look absolutely stunning."

She gave a slight twirl and blushed, "You really think so?"

"Aye, that I do." He then placed a kiss upon her temple before clearing his throat, "Ahem, well, I better leave you to change back into your work garb, unless you think you'll be able to wear all that for the remainder of the day."

Shaking her head, she carefully began removing the jewelry (except her Mother's necklace) and setting them atop her vanity, "Absolutely not. While all this fomp is pretty, it's not very comfortable and I'd rather not work wearing a corset and heels. That, and I should probably bathe before Edmund sends his escorts to retrieve me."

He chuckled at that, "Fair point. You go ahead and prepare yourself for tonight."

"Are you sure?"

"Aye. Besides, you'll need the extra time to style your hair and don some makeup," he added with a smirk, to which she playfully rolled her sapphire eyes.
