(Authors Note: Hello my dearest readers and fellow writers! I'm so happy to finally be presenting you all with the latest chapter of this fan fic! Now, I'd like to apologize for not uploading this content sooner, but I have been recovering from a nasty respiratory infection (not covid) that held me back for the last month and a half. Thankfully, I'm on the mend and have been updating most of my other stories alongside this one, so if you're a fan of my other works, feel free to check them out. Regardless, thank you all for taking the time to read this story. On a side note, I posted some pictures of Maryam on Deviantart that'll provide a proper visual of her general appearance :) Also, I greatly appreciate reviews and draw inspiration from them to keep writing, so feel free to drop one ;) But in all seriousness, they do help inspire me and provide a morale boost :) Thank you all for your patience and support and enjoy the chapter.)

Chapter 11

-Morning-

Feeling a familiar presence beside her, Maryam nestled into the comforting warmth that was Captain Nathaniel Flint. The steady rise and fall of his chest suggested that he was still asleep, but the hybrid woman knew otherwise. Resting on her elbow, she waved a hand over his sharp face and softly smiled when he cracked three of his six eyes open and stared at her:

"Feelin' better?"

She nodded at his question and emitted a sigh, "A little. I hope to never relive yesterday's experience, but I'm at least comforted in knowing that those men can no longer bring such atrocities onto others ever again. I just wish I had been able to do more damage."

Flint mulled over her words for a moment before turning his head to properly face her, "I'd say ye roughed them up rather nicely for what ye had to work with." He then gently took her hand in his and rubbed his thumb over her sharp claws, emphasizing his point.

Hearing this, Maryam smiled before laying back down and resting her head atop his chest while draping her arm across his torso, "Regardless, thank you for coming to my aid_and for disposing of those men afterwards."

"They brought it upon themselves. By assaulting ya while under the protection of parlay, they broke the code, which is an act of treason, punishable by death. I was merely enforcing the rules," he added while lightly rubbing her shoulder. "Of course, now that they're dead, I reckon I'll be needin' to replace them an' hire some new crew members."

"_Does that mean we'll be staying here longer?"

"Aye. However, this little delay will only set us back another day or two." Hearing that, Maryam emitted a sigh as her mind began to wander. Of course, this didn't go unnoticed by Flint as he felt her slightly tense up. "Somethin' on yer mind, lass?"

Glancing up and meeting his piercing gaze, the young hybrid shook her head, "It's not something I want to talk about at this time."

Respecting her wishes, he opted not to pry. Instead, he tenderly held her close and rubbed her back, which lulled her into a peaceful state of contentment.

Thankfully, the day went by rather smoothly for Miss Weller; however, she was still quite nervous if left alone, hence why B.E.N and Will were currently accompanying her as she explored the port. While she was initially going to just stay aboard the ship, she didn't want to let yesterday's event control her and keep her from seeing the various corners of the galaxy.

At the moment, she was inside a small alchemy shop looking to find the medicine her Father needed to combat his illness, while B.E.N and Will were waiting outside for her. Glancing at the various ingredients and bottles, the young hybrid frowned as her search wasn't turning up any promising results. Spotting a middle-aged (human) woman behind the counter, she approached and asked, "Excuse me, do you have anything here for damp lung disease?"

Hearing this, the woman raised a brow, "I 'aven't 'ad a customer askin' for that sort of medicine in years. Damp lung isn't common 'round these parts o' the galaxy."

"I gathered that, but do you have some of the medicine or not?"

"Now just 'ang on a moment, lass. I've got a couple o' bottles lying 'round 'ere somewhere." Standing up from her stool, she climbed up an adjacent ladder and began rummaging through a shelf of various jars and bottles. Moments later, she procured two small vials of blue-colored liquid and presented them to the young hybrid. "I'm afraid this is it."

"_That's all there is?"

"Aye. Like I said, we don't see many cases of damp lung 'round these 'ere parts, so the medicine is rather difficult to come by."

*sigh* "I understand. Thank you for finding these for me: I'll take them both."

"Certainly. That'll be 400 drabloons."

Knowing this particular medicine was expensive, Maryam was taken aback at just how expensive it actually was. But her Father needed it and he was certainly worth it. With a sigh, she reached into the (hidden) pocket of her dress and pulled out the gold and diamond earrings Edmund had gifted her and presented them to the clerk, "I don't have any coins on me, but will these cover the cost?"

Taking the small, shiny baubles into her hand, the woman carefully eyed them with a skilled scrutiny before giving Maryam a nod, "Aye, these'll cover it."

"Thank you," she politely bowed her head and left the shop with the medicine in hand and a smile on her face, knowing that her Father would finally receive treatment for his illness. However, she knew these two little vials wouldn't be enough to completely cure him, but for now, it was a welcomed start.
