The State Verses Derek Morgan Ch 49
Hotch sat listening as Shane and Reid told him their theory and then how long it could take for them to be able to get inside the cameras, that is if they had cameras, Shane smiled and said, "they have them, they have cameras". Reid said, "how sophisticated are they?", Shane looked at the screen in front of him and said, "very, this could take some time but I won't stop until I crack this", Hotch said, "keep up the good work and keep me informed".
Reid said, "will do" but before the call ended Reid said, "what about telling Morgan and the others?", Hotch said, "for now, let's just keep this between the four of us, I'll tell Mia after we get finished prepping Derek for tomorrow". Reid said, "speaking of Morgan, how are his spirits today?", Hotch said, "good, really good, which I am glad to see", Reid said, "that's great news and I hope that after tomorrow he'll be a free man again".
Hotch said, "you and me both Spencer, you and me both" as the call ended, Reid then picked up the files that contained information about Robert, Robin, Charles and Olivia, he needed to know more about the people he was going to hopefully interrogating really soon and the more he knew the better things would go hopefully".
The rest of the day flew by for Derek as he sat talking to Hotch and Mia about what they hoped would happen the next day in court until Hotch got ready to head out a few minutes before 7:00. As Hotch was heading out the door he passed Luke who said, "how did it go in court today?", Hotch said, "good, it went really good, we started the defenses side of the case today and called some witnesses to the stand".
Luke said, "so when are you thinking the trial part is going to be over?", Hotch said, "probably tomorrow, we only have 3 witnesses tomorrow and 2 of those are going to be character witnesses for Derek. Luke leaned in and said, "I stopped by the BAU earlier and Shane and Reid were working hard, Reid was looking at files and Shane well he was doing his computer thing, he said something about trying to get into the surveilance cameras at Robert and Robin's cousin Charles' place".
Hotch said, "yeah, I talked to them earlier", Hotch said, "do me a favor", Luke said, "sure, name it", Hotch said, "don't say anything to Morgan about what Shane and Reid are working on, I don't want to get his hopes up until they actually find something out". Luke nodded his head and said, "not a problem Hotch, not a problem".
Anderson looked and saw that Luke had arrived so he said his goodbyes and told Derek he'd see him in the morning before walking over to Hotch and Luke to say a few words before heading out for the night. Luke said, "any problems?", Anderson said, "nahhhh, everything's good here, they've just been discussing plans for tomorrow".
Derek before sayiing, "he's exhausted, he won't make it much longer", Hotch said, "he needs a good nights sleep because something tells me that tomorrow's going to be a big day". Anderson said, "I'm heading out, if you need me for anything just call me", Luke said, "sure thing man, sure thing" as he stood with Hotch and walked Anderson step out of the room and head up the corridor.
Derek and said, "well, that's about all for tonight, I'm gonna head out, you get some sleep", Derek yawned and said, "I don't think that's going to be a problem Mia", she said her goodbyes to Derek before walking over to Hotch and Luke. Hotch said, "how about we head out together?", Mia said, "sure, sounds good", they said goodnight to Luke before disappearing out into the hall.
Derek he was asleep, Luke smiled and said, "I hope tomorrow's a good day for you my friend", he then sat down in his chair and started looking at a magazine that Mia had left previously. It had been a long and eventful day for Derek and his entire family and as Luke sat looking at Derek he could only hope that tomorrow brought only good news and good things for Derek, Hotch and Mia.
