***Chapter 21***
There were bodies everywhere. Fire and smoke. Death. She could hear the faint sound of screaming in the distance. The blood of the dead spilled creating crimson rivers pooling in all directions. She heard his voice. Unmistakable. It was him. He had found her. She couldn't see him. Her body was not hers anymore. She couldn't turn away, as if she was being dragged in that direction for a purpose. When her feet finally stopped, her eyes landed on a blurry pile of bodies. 'Kira. Did you think you could escape? Look what you've done. This is all your fault.'' The screeching voice said. Her eyes suddenly focused on the scene in front of her. They weren't just bodies. It was her family. She saw Piccolo's green hand, the hint of Krillin's hairless head. She glimpses Gohan's broken glasses on the ground. As her eyes continue to move up, her heart beating fast, she sees an onyx spike of hair, and another. Through tears she could make out the blue of Bulma's hair and a slightly lighter shade from Bulla and the lavender of Squirt's. She saw Vegeta's white glove soaked in blood. They were all there, dead. Valese, Amaya, ChiChi and 18. Yamcha even Ubb and Tupp. Her heart was threatening to come out of her chest when she made it to the top of the gory pile. Videl lay lifeless, one hand over her stomach and the other hugging a cold Pan. Unable to face the massacre, she turned her head away. Her heart stopped. Her uncle was standing at a distance. At his feet lay Broly and Kale, Arula in her arms. He held Trunks' lavender hair in his hand, forcing him up on his knees. His face, his beautiful face full of blood. Her dark eyes meeting his deep blue, she saw the pain in them. She was unable to breathe. She heard the gargling sound and the blood spilling out of Trunks' mouth. Her eyes finally landed on the blade coming out of his chest. Her uncle holding the grip from behind her lover, except it wasn't her uncle's sword, or even Trunks'. The blade piercing Trunks' heart was her own. ''You did this Kira.''
Akira woke up in a startle. She looked at the silhouette beside her, Trunks was peacefully sleeping, his lips slightly parted. He was laying on his stomach, his head turned towards her, his hair tousled. One of his arms lay across her body, his hand resting on her opposite hip, as if to protect her and keep her close to him. She hadn't had a nightmare in months. Whenever she slept next to him, it was peaceful. This was different. What she saw behind her closed lids was the worst of them all. She couldn't hold her tears, so she let them flow silently. She cried until she drifted back to sleep from exhaustion.
When Trunks woke up, she wasn't next to him. She wasn't in their apartment at all.
Ki? You alright? Already gone training?
No answer. He shoved the panic down deep inside. She wasn't gone. She had promised him not to leave like that again. She must be out somewhere. Training with Vegeta and she couldn't get to her phone.
''My Lady, you are quite early I'm afraid. Lord Beerus is still sleeping.''
''I'm not here to see Beerus…. I need you to take me to your Father.'' She said before adding ''Please.''
''Very well.''
When they appeared at the gates of Grand Zeno's palace, Grand Minister was already waiting for them.
''You asked to see me, my dearest one?''
''Grand Minister, you know of everything happening in every moment across galaxies.'' He nodded. ''Tell me, is he close?'' He knew who she was referring to. He nodded, making her heart stop for a moment. ''How much time?''
''Three days.'' His eyes meeting Whis' without turning his head. Her breath caught in her throat, unable to breathe in or out.
Recovering for just a moment, she managed to utter ''Thank you Grand Minister. I am aware you are not meant to interfere in events taking place.''
''Dearest Child…'' He started but stopped himself. Extremely unlike him. She slightly bowed her head to him and disappeared with Whis again. Back on Beerus' planet, the God was just waking up. Her arrival surprised him.
''Child, is everything ok?'' She nodded.
''I just wanted to come see you. The last time I saw you, you were still upset.'' She teased. ''Are you still mad?''
''I just want your happiness Child.'' She smiled softly at his surprisingly tender words, she kissed his cheek and hugged him tight, knowing this was the last time she'd face the Universe 7 Destroyer, the only father she had ever known. She hugged Lemo and Cheelai.
''My Lady.'' Whis started before she surprised him by clasping her arms around his middle section. He was so much taller than her.
''Take good care of him for me.'' Her voice low and strained. The Angel knew she meant Beerus.
''Akira. It was an honor.'' He whispered only for her to hear. She nodded, releasing him.
''I have to head back, it's still early. Trunks will be wondering where I ran to.'' She disappeared without looking back, except not to go back to Earth. She landed on Planet Sadala, in the middle of Broly and Kale's living room, startling them both. Broly's face quickly covered with concern.
''Kiks? Everything ok?''
''Yes,….yeah, you know just a little tired.''
''From all the wedding planning?'' Offered Kale. ''I'll give you the best advice, let the crazy Earthling women plan everything.'' She winked at her.
Akira walked closer to Broly, wrapping her arms around his torso, hugging him hard. If he would have been anything less than the Legendary super Saiyan she might have crushed a few ribs. ''Kiks.. you're worrying me. Is everything alright?''
''Yes everything is under control.'' She half lied. ''I just wanted to drop by to tell you how much I love you.'' She told him. ''Goes for you too Kale.'' She hugged the smaller Saiyan, then the bigger one again. ''Is Arula asleep?'' She wanted to see her niece. She walked down the hall to the baby's room and found her in her crib. She picked her up gently, nuzzling her nose in the baby's neck, kissing her cheek. ''I love you Arula, I wish I could have seen you grow up.'' She whispered in her ear. She pushed down the tears threatening to escape her eyes.
''Kiks?'' Broly wasn't convinced. ''He's coming isn't he?'' She nodded. Lying was pointless. ''How much time?''
''Five days.'' She lied. She didn't want Broly showing up for battle and risking his life. ''Broly I'm ok. I.. just realize how lucky I am to have you all in my life. Thank you.'' She hugged her brother tight again, allowing herself to hide her face in his chest, so he wouldn't see the couple of tears that had managed to escape. Smiling, she gently vanished.
Trunks was in the shower when she reappeared in their bedroom.
''Trunks?''
''Hmm?'' He answered, sensing the sadness in her tone.
She didn't reply, making him peak his head out of the glass shower door. Then he completely stepped out to face her. He was naked and water drizzled down his face from his wet dark purple locks.
''I love you.'' She finally said as he came closer to her, a questioning look on his face. She gently lifted her eyes to meet his. He bent down and kissed her lips once. Then a second time.
''Are you going to hop in with me or let me freeze trying to convince you?'' He raised an eyebrow at her, a tiny smirk on his face. ''I missed you this morning.''
His words hit her in the gut. Three days. They only had three days until he would miss her forever. She couldn't think about that. Not now. She brought his face back down to hers and kissed him, willing her worries to disappear for a moment. Completely forgetting the running water, he carried her to their bed and laid her down gently. He kissed her softly while he helped her undress. No clothes ripping, no urgency. All their movements, all their kisses and touches, gentle, like never before. He took the time to slowly run his hands over her body, rediscovering every inch as she did his. She let her hands linger on his shoulders. His broad muscular shoulders she loved so much. His chest, feeling his heartbeat under her fingertips. He played gently with her long hair as she faced him, softly pushing away his wet strands of hair from his forehead to see every bit of his face. No words were needed. No sudden movements, no rush. Their lips met again. He laid her down, his mouth soft and gentle on hers, making his way down her neck. He kissed every bit of skin displayed before him, finding his way back to her lips. Their bodies in perfect sync, danced together as they made love. Gently, softly, slowly.
When she woke up, he had already left for work, but she found a note next to their bed.
I wanted to spend all day with you in my arms
This morning was magical
YOU are magical
This was also a first for me and I am glad I shared it with you
I can't wait to make love to you like that again
I love you Ki
Trunks x
All her senses tinkled at the memory of their morning. It had really been magical. She wasn't sure she'd ever get to love him again this way or any other. She laid back on the bed, the note pressed against her heart. She wondered if the dead could miss their loved ones. Could they feel anything at all? Would she remember them? Long for them? Would she be going to the good place or… Did Gods even go anywhere? She wasn't technically a real deity. She had God Ki, Goddess blood. Her father had been human. Would they have to bury her? She felt her heart tighten at the image of her friends and family around a grave. She knew Trunks would hurt. She would hurt him. Would he ever forgive her? Would he be ok? Broly had told her the bond of mated Saiyan was extremely strong. Did it apply to them? Would he ever be happy again? Would he find love again? The last thought brought up a feeling of jealousy up but she pushed it back down. She would have no right to be possessive, she would be dead, leaving him all alone. She wanted him to be happy. She let her mind wander, trying to picture what Arula, Pan and Bulla will look like all grown up. And the little bean in Videl's womb. Would Squirt and Goten end up having a double wedding? Kami knew they were inseparable. It was a blessing Valese and Amaya got along so well. She smiled at the feeling of freedom she always felt around the quad. Would Squirt be an exact copy of her Trunks in his thirties? Her Trunks. He had shown her in two years what others had a lifetime to experience. In the short time span, he had succeeded in making up for all the years she hadn't been held, touched or loved. She was able to heal flesh wounds but he had healed her soul.
Three days. Her nightmare creeped back up in her mind. She couldn't risk any of this happening. It was her destiny to die, they shouldn't have to. She wouldn't let it happen. They would never agree to let her face him alone, she knew it. Vegeta and Goku had told her many times it was not even an option to consider. She couldn't help smiling at how the two grown men, full blooded Saiyans, the strongest she had ever known, sometimes, often, acted like children bickering. They were so different yet so alike. Their rivalry only matched by their friendship. Full blooded Saiyans… like Broly. He will be so upset at her lie. But she couldn't risk having him here. Just like Trunks, he'd give up his life for her, she knew it. She couldn't allow it or even risk it. He had Kale. He had Arula. He finally had the life he deserved after so many years of solitude and loneliness. She couldn't let him put that on the line for her. She couldn't even afford having them anywhere near her uncle and his men. If Frieza and Kelian had gained so much power, she could only imagine the levels he had reached, having tapped into her Ki for years before and many more times than anyone else. He was already strong, she had heard his men talk about his power in battle way before she came to be. She always wondered why he needed more power. If he was already so strong, why use her? Why hurt her? For greed? He never cared for her even when she was a child. He had robbed her of everything. If she hadn't escaped, he would have even robbed her of her humanity, her soul.
After training with Vegeta in the Gravity Room, she went to see Goku. He was in his tractor tending to the crops.
''Chi making you work huh?'' She teased him. Akira loved the woman but she was well aware of her temper and how Goku's training was always an issue for her. In her defense, he had made his training come before his family on a few occasions. Akira knew it was because he had a sense of responsibility. As if it was his duty alone to protect everyone and everything. She sensed it all over his Ki.
''Hey Kiddo! You've been training with Vegeta?'' She could see the jealousy in his eyes. He too wanted to train.
''Yeah but I was wondering if I could…'' His face lit up. ''help you with the crops?'' His face fell. ''So we could spar after and you wouldn't get in trouble with ChiChi.'' She finally added, her heart warming at the huge grin spreading across his face.
He hugged her tight, making her laugh. He was a big teddy bear; it was hard to picture him like the invincible warrior in all the stories she had heard. His heart was pure. Perhaps it was possible to do bad things but still have a pure heart. Even if it was possible, she had done much worse than bad things. There was no redemption for her.
Ki?
Yeah Trunks?
Mother called, said we should head to their place for 7 tonight.
Is something wrong? Do you want to pick me up or do I meet you there?
You're not there already?!
Nope…. I'm home
Home. It was their place, their home now. Together. After the wedding he planned on moving them to the outskirts of the city, like she had said she would do one day. That way, she could see the stars as often as she'd want.
Hmmm… I feel like I'm going to regret this but… what are you doing?
I just got out of the shower and still wondering what to wear…
Maybe I can help?
He knew he shouldn't be going down that road, he had a meeting in a few minutes… showing up with an erection was not exactly professional.
Well… this is what I got so far…
FUCKING HELL KI!
He bit his knuckles, looking at the picture again. She had snapped the pictures of her reflection in the full-length mirror in their bedroom. He could see she was on her knees, sitting back on her heels, on their bed, sideways to the mirror. She was wearing a burgundy lace set. He could tell by the way the side curved on her hip, that it was a thong. Her back was straight, allowing her damp hair to cascade down her back, giving him a perfect view of the side of her breast wrapped in the very delicate fabric. She was wearing the necklace he had given her on their second date. She never took it off. He had bought her more expensive ones, but she liked this one best. Her face was partly hidden by her phone, but he could see her slightly biting on her bottom lip.
So? Any ideas?
Wear something you don't care about
Hmm why?
Because whatever you wear is getting ripped to shreds the moment I get my hands on you
Hmm is that a promise?
Why do you like to torture me so? How do you expect me to sit through a board meeting now? And then, I have to spend the whole evening next to you knowing you're wearing THAT under your clothes? You are cruel
I don't want to torture you baby.
He raised his eyebrow bracing himself.
Maybe I'll take them off before and not wear anything at all under, then. Would that be better?
He growled, his erection pushing dangerously at the front of his pants.
You're not playing nice Mrs. Akira Briefs
You don't love me because I play nice though so it's ok Don't you have a meeting to attend Mr. Briefs?
Akira Briefs. She never had a family name. It was mostly an earthling thing. Goku had a last name because he was raised on Earth but Broly and Piccolo didn't. Vegeta had taken the Briefs surname only after marrying Bulma. She liked the sound of it though. It was a way to indicate she was part of their family.
Trunks picked Akira up, he had finished work a little late and they had to leave right away. His promise would have to wait. She sat next to him in his car, wearing a short sleeve denim tunic dress. When she was standing it reached right above her knees but sitting down, it beautifully displayed her firm thighs. The V neckline stopped right below where her pendant rested, followed by 3 buttons. It had pockets. He had smiled when she had shown him. She had paired it with a pair of white sneakers. Her hair was loosely braided to one side, rogue strands falling framing her bare face. She was looking out the window, her eyes not really focusing on anything. He noticed she seemed distracted. He switched hands holding the steering wheel and brought his hand down, gently rubbing her thigh. It was a delicate touch, more reassuring than sensual. She put her hand over his, intertwining her fingers with his without turning her face.
''Ki?''
''Yeah Trunks'' She was still looking out the window.
''Is something bothering you?''
She lifted her gaze and saw his reflection in her window. His eyes were on the road but he seemed concerned. She tightened her grip on his hand. He gently pulled his hand from under hers and offered her his palm. She intertwined her fingers with him again. When he squeezed her hand a little, she turned her face towards him.
''Did something happen?'' She shook her head no.
''I'm just… taking everything in. Two years ago, I wouldn't have imagined this would be my life now.''
He kissed her hand. ''You deserve every bit and so much more. The best is yet to come.''
''Trunks… he's coming. I can feel it.'' She felt him stiffen at the statement.
''I won't let him hurt you, Ki.''
''You can't stop him. Promise me you won't do something reckless like you did against Frieza.''
''Ki.. I can't promise you…''
''YES YOU CAN! You have to.'' Her eyes started watering. ''Please Trunks.''
They had arrived and he had parked the car before turning to look at her. ''Ki. I love you. I can't let anyone hurt you. I..''
''I don't need you to protect me, Trunks!'' She didn't mean for it to sound so harsh.
''Can we talk about this after? I think everyone's here already.''
He got out of the car and came to open her door like he always did. She stayed inside for a moment. He bent down to look at her. Her features relaxed when she looked in his big blue eyes. The ocean that tamed the storm.
''Father, what's going on?'' Vegeta simply shrugged. He was leaning against the wall a little away from everyone else.
Akira lifted her fingers in his direction, as a hello. He returned it.
Everyone was standing looking a little confused. That's when Akira noticed Dende and Mr Popo were there too. It was unusual for them to leave the lookout.
''Akira, it's so nice to see you again.''
''I'm happy to see you too Dende. How's the weather up there?'' She joked.
His face turned serious…. ''Everyone, Mr Popo and I must return to the lookout as fast as possible so I will cut to the chase and make this quick. I received news from New Namek… Someone was looking for you Akira.'' She froze. She hadn't planned on telling them he was near.
''Five days.'' She said. It was the same lie she had given Broly. It would buy her two days. Hopefully she'd be able to handle it in two days or less.
''What did you say?''
''You heard me, Vegeta. Five days. He'll reach Earth in five days. I… can sense him.'' She couldn't tell them she went to Grand Minister, or that she knew of her fate. She also couldn't refer to Whis. He'd blow her cover and tell them the truth. The truth that they had almost half the time to get prepared.
''Ki… why didn't you tell me anything?'' Trunks was facing her, grabbing both her hands. She hadn't realized she was fiddling with her fingers.
''I'm sorry Trunks… I…''
''Woman! Did your minion finish working on those armors?''
''He's not my minion Vegeta! He's a scientific genius .'' He glared at her lack of response. ''We have some tweaking to do but I think we can finish them in a few days. Akira, I actually have a surprise for you.'' The blue-haired scientist pulled a capsule from one of her pockets. She gave it to the girl. ''Go on, open it.''
Akira pressed the button and threw the capsule in front of her. A huge metal box popped out of the tiny capsule. It looked like an armored safe. Pushing the only button on the surface facing her, Akira saw the front panel opening giving her access to what was inside.
''It's fingerprint activated!''
Akira smiled at the excitement Bulma was showing. When her eyes focused on what was inside the box, her breath caught in her throat and tears filled her eyes.
It was her armor. Not the one she had arrived with but a brand new one. One just for her. Every piece was a reminder of her family. The one piece jumpsuit was dark gray with long sleeves. On top of it was a black sleeveless tailed breastplate, slightly winged on each shoulder. It oddly resembled Shin's robe. The top middle part, closer to the neckline, was decorated by an orange diamond shape, followed by a series of blue lines on each side circling her neck. She recognized it. It was the same pattern as Beerus'. The pointed back piece reached her calves while the front cut mid-thigh to allow free leg movement. The waist was belted by a royal blue sash. The same blue as Trunks' and Vegeta's armor. The young hybrid noticed the belt carrying her swords hanging on the hips of the mannequin. Brand new combat boots finished the look.
''I wanted it to represent a little bit of each part of you, Akira. I hope you like it.''
Akira rushed to hug the scientist, tears running down her cheeks. She had incorporated her Destroyer and Supreme Kai heritage. Her signature black was complemented by the Saiyan's royal blue. It was perfect. She felt Trunks' hand on her waist gently pull her back against his body. He nuzzled her hair, his eyes fixated on the armor. If it was up to him, she wouldn't need it because she wouldn't go to battle. But he knew she'd never agree and deep down he knew that to even request it from her would be unfair. She was a warrior just as much as any of them.
''Ok no more battle talk for tonight! We start strategizing first thing tomorrow!'' Bulma yelled, throwing her hands in the air. She wanted to change the grim feeling taking over everyone, including herself.
''Uhmm actually..'' Gohan cleared his throat. ''Videl and I..'' Akira laid her head back on Trunks' chest, wanting to enjoy the news as if discovering it with everyone else. ''well.. we're going to have another baby…'' No one reacted, not sure they understood. Was she pregnant or did they want another baby?
''I'm pregnant.'' She clarified. Everyone erupted in cheer and laughter. The mom-to-be made her way to Akira, still in Trunks' arms. ''You knew.. didn't you?'' The hybrid nodded. ''That's… why the football game… and the wine..'' Another nod. ''Why didn't you tell me?''
A worried look crossed Akira's face. Was Videl angry with her for keeping her secret? ''I'm… I wanted you to find out on your own, with Gohan. I didn't want to take that surprise and happiness from you.''
Videl's heart shattered. Akira would never know that feeling. She had no surprise to expect or hope for. The Earthling pushed Trunks off and hugged her friend as hard as her human body would allow her.
''I'm so happy for you and Gohan!'' Akira said honestly. ''You are great parents to Pan, and I'm sure little bean will be happy and healthy too!''
''Little bean? You nicknamed our unborn child Little bean?'' Laughed Gohan making his way to stand next to his wife. Trunks hugged his friend.
ChiChi shrieked and came running towards them. ''Oh my Kami Videl, you need to sit down! You've been standing too long! You can't get tired!'' She ushered her daughter-in-law towards a table and made her sit down. Gohan followed, trying to do some damage control. A pregnant Videl and an overbearing ChiChi had been an explosive combo when his wife was pregnant with Pan.
Trunks chuckled at his friend's miserable face. ''Are all earthling women like this about their grandchildren?'' Akira asked.
''Well.. The only other grandmother I know is Janice. Though not as bad as ChiChi, when her daughter-in-law was pregnant, they would often argue. Her son had to play referee all the time. Mothers.. and grandmothers can be…''
''Right this moment, looking at Videl's expression, I'm kind of glad I'll never have kids.'' His eyes shot up in surprise. ''I wouldn't want to be annoyed with your mom. I love Bulma.''
He relaxed. ''Well in our family, I think it's more Vegeta you'd have to worry about.'' He laughed, bringing her closer and hugging her.
When the food came, they sat back and watched all the men with a drop of Saiyan blood, inhale plate after plate.
''Yo Videl! Remember when you were pregnant with Pan, towards the end, you were eating like us!'' Goten yelled, making Videl turn a crimson color.
''Leave her alone Goten. She was eating for two, one of which was part Saiyan.'' Goku said with his mouth full.
Akira tried to remember if Kale ate much more when she was pregnant. But Kale being Saiyan meant she already scarfed down a huge amount of food.
Shortly after, everyone started heading home. The next few days were going to be exhausting and they needed to keep their energy high.
''I'll pass get a bag of Senzu beans from Korin's tower on my way here tomorrow morning.'' Said Piccolo before lifting off and quickly flying away.
''I'll go see King Kai tomorrow too. Maybe he can give us some information.'' Offered Goku.
As the Son family was getting ready for instant transmission home, ChiChi was still ranting. ''Oh my Kami! Is instant transmission ok for the baby? What if it's not? Maybe…''
''Gah ChiChi! I did it just fine when I was pregnant with Pan! Let's just go home!'' And they all disappeared.
''Let's go home Ki.'' Trunks whispered in her ear. ''I need to unwrap you like a present to see which option you chose.''
She hummed under his touch. ''Pretty sure you said something about ripping the clothes to shreds.. not unwrapping..'' She answered breathily.
They spent the next two days in a cycle of training, trying to come up with a plan for different scenarios with the others, training again and then coming home.
Akira was in the shower when she felt Trunks' Ki approach. She peeked her head out of the glass door to see him. He was wearing only his joggings. His arms were extended up as he leaned his weight on the top of the doorframe. He looked so hot. She bit her lower lip at the sight. Earlier, he had, in fact, ripped her training gear to shreds. She turned back inside to go stand under the water, her back to the shower door she had left open. He didn't need more convincing than that. She felt him behind her as he joined her under the hot water. His naked body against hers, he placed his hands on her hips, trailing his fingers softly on her lower abdomen, between her two hips, slowly making their way over her abs before reaching her breasts, cupping one in each hand as her back arched against him. She reached her arm back behind his head as he kissed her neck and shoulder. His hair was wet making it a dark purple, still contrasting with her ebony hair. He turned her around to face him, running his hand under her jaw, kissing her passionately, backing her up against the cold tile. The contrast with the hot water made her shiver and her nipples perked up even more under his touch. He growled, his lips on her neck sending vibrations through her entire body, finally settling between her legs.
''Trunks'' She moaned in his ear. As if it was his green flag to proceed, he lifted one of her legs up on his side, lowered his body to align himself and thrusted back up into her before completely picking her up, pinning her to the wall. He could never get enough of her. She wanted to make up for lost time but also for the future where she wouldn't be able to feel his body on hers. She was going to die in a few days, she wanted to make sure she really gave him her all. They both reached their climax, her a few moments before, moaning his name louder this time. It had been his undoing.
When the sun rose on the third day, Trunks laid awake in bed, staring at the ceiling. Akira was still asleep, snuggled up against his body. She turned on her back, gently opening her eyes, yawning the sleep away, stretching her arms up.
''Good morning my Goddess.''
''Good morning my Prince.''
''Sleep well?'' He turned on his side to face her. She was still on her back, looking up.
''Next to you? Always.'' She turned to face him too. He brought his hand up to caress her cheek. The first rays of sunshine were coming through from the window behind her. It made her look like an angel. It made her look divine.
''Do you know how beautiful you are?'' He caressed her cheek, gently moving her hair out of her face.
''Hmm I've been told a few times but I'm not my type.'' She grinned.
''Yeah? What is your type?''
''You.'' She kissed him softly. ''Trunks?''
''Hmm?'' He said kissing her inner wrist.
''No matter what happens to me, you know I love you right? I'll always love you and everything I do is because I love you.''
''Why are you… Ki.. you're scaring me.''
''No, don't be. I'm not anymore. I just need to know, no matter the outcome, you'll remember me but allow yourself to live the life you deserve.''
''Ki… don't talk like that….''
''I love you Trunks Vegeta Briefs. With everything that I've got, please never doubt that.''
''I love you too Ki.'' His phone beeped on his night table. ''It's Vegeta, he's going to train with Goku today. Do you want to go meet them?''
She shook her head, no. ''I think I just want to stay like this today.''
''In bed?'' He was surprised, she never turned down training and wasn't the type to lounge in bed all day.
''With you. In your arms, where I feel safe.'' She hid her face in his chest so he wouldn't see the tears building up. He stroked her hair in a calming rhythm and kissed the top of her head. She was wearing his gray CC t-shirt, the one she loved. She had said it smelled like him but now it smelled like her. Her floral scent was everywhere in the apartment as a sign of her living there. Most importantly, their bed smelled like her. Like them, even with freshly washed sheets.
They stayed like that for a while until he got hungry. ''Want to eat something?'' She shook her head no. ''Ok, just a coffee then?'' Again no. This one surprised him. First, she said no to training and now no to coffee? He didn't want to push her; she was so quiet and calm laying in his arms. She eventually drifted off to sleep.
When she woke up, she was alone in their bed. She frowned, sensing for his Ki. He was in his office. She silently made her way and stood in the doorway for a long moment, taking him in. His head was bent over some blueprints. He was clearly in deep thought. He was humming a song, tapping his pencil on the desk. He seemed so happy and carefree. Tomorrow would crush him. She just knew it. He would never forgive her. She had lied. To him. To everyone she loved. But what choice did she have? Risking their lives was out of the question. Gohan had a baby on the way. Earth depended on Goku and Vegeta and the others to keep it safe. Everything was so good and simple for everyone before she had arrived. Her heart sank. Maybe they could get back to that life after she was gone? They would be sad for a while but life would go on right? Her eyes watered. Trunks. Bulma had said he was almost dead inside before her. Would he be able to go on after she was gone? She wanted him to be happy. He deserved to be happy. The thought of hurting him was crushing at her heart but the idea of him dying, again, was the worst. No. He would live. Without her. He was strong. He would get over his sadness. Maybe he'd find another girl. The thought felt like acid was rising in her throat. She was jealous, but she had no right to be. She would be dead. This girl could mend his heart, he could love her. She would obviously love him. And at least she'd be able to give him children. Akira smiled at the thought of little lavender-haired kids running around. Her smile quickly dropped when the thought of him making love to someone else crossed her mind.
''It's rude to snoop.'' His voice snapped her out of her thoughts. He smiled. The smile he reserved only for her. He never smiled at anyone else like that. His cerulean blues sparkling like the surface of the ocean under the sun.
She was leaning her shoulder against the office door frame. His t-shirt hung off one of her shoulders, displaying his mark. The shirt was long enough to reach the middle of her thighs. Her amazing thighs. The thought of him between them made him grunt. Her hair was loose, and her eyes were infinite pits of darkness. She was biting on her lower lip. Trunks could tell she was thinking of something that was upsetting her. It wasn't the sexy lip bite she gave him; it was her anxious one. He sat back in his chair, watching her slowly make her way to him. She sat on his desk beside his blueprints.
''Sitting on my desk with nothing but my t-shirt on is risky business Mrs. Briefs.''
She rolled her eyes at him, smiling. ''Is this all you think about?''
''Can you blame me?'' He said, caressing her thigh. ''All I can think about is you.''
''Me in your bed?'' She teased.
''In OUR bed.'' He corrected. ''But also, you in the shower, on the floor, on my desk, against the window in my office, on the counter, on the table, on the couch, on our cliff…''
''Yeah I think I get the point Mr. Briefs.'' She said, her cheeks turning a faint pink shade.
''No, I don't think you do Ki.'' She raised her eyebrows at him. ''You make me feel alive. Don't get me wrong, the sex is out of this world but any thought that crosses my mind includes you. You are my life.''
She frowned. ''Don't say that Trunks… please.'' Tomorrow she would die if what he was saying was true…
''Ki? What's bothering you? Talk to me.''
''Trunks…'' She bit the inside of her cheek, looking down. ''There's a pretty big chance I won't make it out alive..'' There's no chance I'm making it out alive.
''Don't Ki.''
''No Trunks, you need to hear this. Ignoring the possibility will not make it go away.''
''Ki.''
''Trunks, please I need to say this.'' Her eyes filled with water. He nodded. ''When…''
His growl came out from deep in his chest, but it wasn't his sultry growl that aroused all her being, it was one of anger and violence. ''IF. Not when.''
She took a deep breath in. ''If.. I get in trouble and my chances are slim to none.. please don't try to save me.'' He was having none of it, she could tell by his Ki. She tried a different approach. ''I don't break easy. I have more chances of surviving any attacks that comes our way than any of you.'' It wasn't false. She did have a better chance of surviving any injury, any attack. This time though, she would be fighting against her own demons. He was silent. His Ki was still flaring inside. She lifted her gaze and met his. His eyes instantly softened. He was holding her hand. He kissed the inside of her wrist. She got up and sat in his lap, her back to him. ''Now tell me about all these. What are you working on?'' She said genuinely shuffling through the blueprints. He loved it when she asked about his work. When she had first arrived, he had thought she was clueless about everything. It turned out she was in fact clueless about all the interpersonal things of life, all the pleasures, anything relative to feelings; but with technical, scientific topics, she could hold her end of a conversation quite easily. She had even helped Gohan solve an equation he had been working on for weeks. She had been a little insulted when Trunks admitted he was impressed.
They spent that afternoon talking about inventions and where Trunks wanted for Capsule Corp to be in the future. She had listened to every word, every breath; trying to take as much in, holding on to this memory.
''Ki, you haven't eaten anything all day.'' He remembered. ''Are you not hungry?''
She shook her head, no. She wouldn't be able to stomach anything, knowing what was awaiting her in a couple of hours. They sat on the couch, her legs on his lap talking all afternoon. Conversation was never difficult between them. He was gently rubbing her legs. ''Trunks?''
''Hmm?'' He was smiling.
''Thank you.'' He raised an eyebrow, looking straight into her eyes, as if searching for the meaning. He wouldn't get an answer. She slowly climbed on his lap, straddling him, her knees on each side. In this position she was almost at the same eye level as him. She held his face with both hands, looking at his features. His hair, perfect lavender hair. His ears, she had nibbled on so often. His nose, proud royal nose that curved ever so slightly. His lips. His amazing lips though not as pouty as hers, could still make any woman green with envy. She passed her thumb over his lower lip. She loved when they were on hers, on her body, showing her what a woman's body could feel at the touch of a man. What her body could feel under his mouth and hands. Her eyes slowly moved up to meet his gaze. He was looking at her. He hadn't moved since she had gotten on his lap, as if afraid to mess up the moment. His eyes softened when they met hers. Her hands instinctively reached back over his shoulders, resting her fingers on the back of his neck. His hands moved to her hips and then over her thighs. The CC t-shirt bunched up leaving them bare. He was in his signature lazy look; sleeveless undershirt and jogging pants. The top clinging to every muscle of his upper body leaving his shoulders and arms in full display. She brought her hands down, her fingers tracing every muscle on his chest, going back up to his shoulders and then sliding on his arms, slowly. His hands were softly rubbing the back of her thighs. She knew he was giving her full control of the situation. He wouldn't rush anything, wanting her to set the pace. Her eyes never leaving his, she brought her hands back up to brush them through his lavender locks. His hands settled gently on her waist. He felt her breath slightly catch, the way it always did before she cried. She noticed the change in his eyes. The ocean blue was instantly darker, clouded with worry. He brought his hand to cup her cheek, rubbing his thumb as lightly as a feather. She slightly bent her head, laying her cheek in his hand. A single tear rolled down her cheek and met his thumb. He gently rubbed it away. She closed her eyes, her cheek still resting in his hand. She wanted to imprint this feeling into her soul. She was taking deep breaths. They stayed like that for a moment. He didn't want to move. He simply looked at her closed eyes and drank in her beauty. Wherever she went, women looked at her with jealousy and men with lust. Media had even crowned her the most mesmerizing vixen of West City due to her beauty and for being able to tame Trunks Briefs down into an official relationship. Little did they know that he was the lucky one. Physically she was the closest thing to perfect by any beauty standards but he had been with many gorgeous women. Trunks saw beyond that. She was perfect under her impeccable features, under the tough shell, under the pain, even under the gentle and almost innocent sweetness. She was perfect in every way.
She opened her eyes, pure darkness, and slowly straightened her head. His hand brushed her ebony hair. His fingers gently on her shoulder, traced the outline of his mark, making her shudder at the contact. She inhaled deeply, closing her eyes again, focusing on his touch and the feeling it was shooting through her whole body. She leaned in, resting her cheek on his shoulder. She was so close but their bodies were barely touching. All his senses were tingling at her proximity. Every part of him was aching to touch her but he held back. He felt her breath on his neck, almost making him lose his resolve.
''Trunks?'' She whispered.
''Hmm?''
She gently rubbed her cheek on the side of his head, allowing him to inhale her scent, his nose lost in her black curtain of hair.
''Trunks?'' She whispered again even lower than the first time.
''Hmm?''
''I love you.'' He heard the words through her breath, barely loud enough for his Saiyan ears to hear even with such proximity.
''I love you.'' He replied.
One of her hands was on his shoulder, the other on his jawline. She lifted her head and leaned her forehead to his, their nose almost touching, both their eyes closed, their breathing rhythm matching.
''Show me.'' She said, as she had told him the first time they had given themselves to one another.
His eyes opened to find hers still closed. He would never deny her. He couldn't. Especially not right now. Her request felt like a plea. She needed to feel him. She needed him to love her. Before her, he was known to be a great lover, his talent between the sheets unmatched as most of his partners had said. He had a lot of practice trying to drown his sorrow. He had become a different man. But with her it was different. He had never made love to any of the other women. Even with Mai it had been different. Though Akira was the only one who could physically handle the roughness of a Saiyan's lust, and she had on many occasions, he had never been as gentle with anyone else either. With her, he wasn't guarded, he wasn't afraid of falling in too deep. She had captured his heart. His life was wherever she stood, he realized he hadn't been alive until her. She was everything.
Placing his hands under her thighs, he pushed himself off the couch. Her legs wrapped around his waist, she leaned her head on his shoulder, her hands laced around his neck. He didn't put her down on their bed. He climbed with her still wrapped around him. The way she was holding on to him felt like if she let go she'd lose him forever. He laid them both down, balancing his weight on one arm as he caressed her face with the other hand. He made sure her hair wasn't beneath her under their weight. His eyes were locked to hers as he brushed his hand through her onyx locks. She mirrored the gesture through his lavender hair. He delicately kissed her lips, feeling her sigh under him. Melting into his kiss. He was gentle, slow, letting every sensation wash over them. Her lips parted slightly, giving his tongue access, deepening their kiss. He felt her breathe in deep, as their mouths rediscovered each other. His hand reached the hem of the t-shirt, sliding almost shyly under the fabric, his fingers grazing her bare hip. He felt her quiver at his touch. He pushed the shirt up, slowly, breaking their kiss only to pass it over her head, their lips locking instantly after. She slowly pushed herself up, her body pushing him in a sitting position. He looked at her. He'd never grow tired of seeing her, her face, her naked body. She bit her lower lip as she helped him out of his undershirt and bottoms. He stayed kneeling between her legs, until her arms that had been supporting her came up under his, resting on his shoulder blades. Her naked body was completely pressed to his. He laid them down, his mouth making its way down her neck, where her neck curved to meet her shoulder. Over the bite scar. His. She was his and his alone. He was hers and hers alone too. It didn't matter if he didn't carry a mark, it didn't matter as long as she knew. His mouth continued its descent, making her quiver, his mouth kissing, nibbling, licking every inch of her. She had completely melted under his touch. His lips found their way back home to her own. She gently, softly moaned against his mouth when he entered her. He did not move right away. He wanted to feel her around him. The feeling of her heat on him as if for the first time. She whimpered at the way he filled her completely. Her walls completely molded to him, leaving no room for dissatisfaction. Hearing her mewl, had made him slowly move against her. Responding to her need. Her fingers were drawing lines across his upper body, arousing all his other senses. His slow, careful movement in and out of her quickened a little, making her fingers dig a little into his back. She kissed his neck as she buried her face into the crook of it. She was unable to hold the tears back but did not want him to see her. The lust and passion quickly took over any other emotion in her brain. He picked her up, never disconnecting their link, sitting back on his heels, lifting her up on his thighs, her legs wrapped around him once more. He continued his slow thrust. She flipped her hair to one side with a head movement, giving him full access to her neck on the side closest to his mouth. He kissed it gladly. She tightened her legs around him, needing to fill every space between them, needing their bodies to practically merge. A low, guttural growl escaped his lips against her neck sending waves of desire through her, down to her slick core that tightened around him. The feeling made him almost lose control. She felt so good. He laid her back down, his movement increasing in speed and force. Nothing like the crazy wild sex they had on multiple occasions. He wanted to savor every second he spent inside her. Her breathing quickened following the rhythm of his hips. Her arms had never left his body, she dug her nails a little deeper in his skin as she let out a moan. The feeling and sound almost threw him off the edge. His pace quickened yet again, both their bodies screaming for the blissful release. Her leg bent on his side making him instinctively pick it up behind her knee, keeping it close to his body, deepening his thrusts. She looked at him through half lidded eyes, biting her lower lip, lifting her back for her mouth to reach his again, changing the angle of her hips. The feeling made him growl, a primal sound, the one that drove her crazy. Her breathing hitched at the sound. She moaned against his lips making it impossible to hold back any longer. She kissed his neck and gently tucked at his lavender hair, as if telling him to let go of his restraint. He groaned as he let his lust take over them, carrying them through the motion of his hips pushing faster and harder into her, until they both reached their achieve. Their bodies riding the wave of their orgasm together as she arched her back and moaned his name, her face pressed against his shoulder as if to contain her soul from leaving her body in bliss.
She laid her head on his chest, his arm around her back, his fingers gently stroking her naked body. He kissed the top of her head making her release a deep sigh. He knew something was wrong. Something was bothering her. The sex had been phenomenal as usual but it felt…final. The way she had sat on his lap, the way she had asked for what she wanted, the way she was throughout and even now, was unusual. It never bothered him that she asked for the sex to be the way she wanted. He actually enjoyed it when she did and was always more than happy to deliver. It oddly made him feel like she trusted him. She could be so wild one moment and blushing crimson the next. It always made him chuckle. But this time something was off about this whole situation. Turning slightly towards her, he brought his fingers under her chin and softly lifted it so he could see her face. She smiled, but her eyes were not their soothing calming ebony, as if a storm was brewing behind.
''Ki, what's going on?''
She lowered her head, nuzzling his chest. ''Did I… Do I make you happy Trunks?''
The first part of her sentence didn't go unnoticed. DID she. Past tense. He stiffened a little at the thought. ''Ki, you are everything to me.''
''Please don't say that Trunks.''
''Why? It's ok if you don't feel the same way Ki.''
He actually thinks I don't feel the same way! Ugh! Her head shot back up to look at him. ''You can't possibly think that, Trunks. I knew nothing but pain and chaos before you. You're my everything Trunks. I will forever be grateful to the Gods for putting you in my path. It's more than I deserved.''
He lifted her chin again. ''You deserve so much more, Ki. The cards you were dealt were unfair and despite it all you remained a gentle, loving woman.''
She giggled, making him raise an eyebrow. ''Please tell me you won't start calling me ''Woman'' like Vegeta calls Bulma.''
He chuckled. She lowered back her head hugging him tighter. She had changed the subject, afraid of where it was heading. She only had a few hours left with him and maybe a few more at all. She didn't want to argue or make him sad. They stayed entangled together as they drifted to sleep. One last time.
