A meeting was being held within the Magic Council of Ishgar's halls. Standing in a massive magic circle were 14 elderly mages talking among themselves.

"I swear those wizards from Fairy Tail cause too much of a ruckus!" One council member shouted as he waved his fist.

"I agree! With all the destruction they cause, it's a surprise that we still have functioning buildings! And even towns!" A female council member slammed her foot down as she shouted. "I say we put the entire guild on sabbatical!" Many council members began nodding their heads and verbally agreeing with that idea.

"Now, wait just a minute." A short elderly man with a toothbrush mustache spoke aloud, making the other members turn silent and face the man. "I know they go too far with the property damage, but I don't think we need to shut the entire guild down. Fairy Tail is this kingdom's most popular and well-liked guild in this country so if we close it, I don't believe the public would take a liking to that."

"You're just saying that because you're still friends with their master, Makarov Dreyar!" One of the other members shouted at the short elderly man. "You've always been too lenient with them, Yajima!"

The man now identified as Yajima placed a hand on his head as he sighed. "This has nothing to do with my affiliation, I believe we need to do something but closing the guild is too extreme. Let us-."

"No!" An older man raised his hand and exclaimed. "I agree with the closing of Fairy Tail! They've caused too much destruction and they've already received many warnings! I say we punish them for their reckless actions!" He then turned around and face the entirety of the group. "All those in favor of shutting down the Fairy Tail Guild, raise your hand!" The man then raised his hand and watched as their hands began slowly rising. As the ninth hand rose, everyone in the room turned their hands to the chuckling blue-haired young man. "And just what is so funny, Siegrain?!"

The man known as Siegrain unfolded his arms and lifted his head. Running his fingers through his sapphire locks before turning his attention to the group, Siegrain smirked. "I find this argument quite humorous is all, quite trivial in fact. Mr. Yajima is quite right. If we were to close Ishgar's most popular and beloved guild, the anger of the people would be the last of our worries. I doubt anyone in this room would want to anger Chairman Draculos or the other Gods of Ishgar, would we?" The rowdy council members suddenly turned silent as they hadn't thought about that, and many of them began to get scared of taking the wrath of the strongest wizards in the country.

The female council member who spoke first nervously spoke again. "T-Then, what do you propose we do then, Siegrain?!"

Siegrain smirked. "I suppose we put them on a three-month probation period, we allow them to continue their duties as a guild. However, if they cause too much destruction, to the point that it causes excess property damage then we decide to take stricter actions. We'll give them a warning first and keep them on watch, if they cause too much trouble at least three times, then we talk to Chairman Draculos and let him give the next order. How does that sound?"

The other council members looked at each other and began mumbling before they all nodded their heads in agreement.

Siegrain smiled as he crossed his arms. "Good, now I will personally give the message to the Fairy Tail guild." He then turned and began making his way to the exit. "Let us see how this rowdy guild takes the news." He began chuckling as he exited the council room.

A man coughed up blood as the collar of his shirt held him up, he slowly opened his eyes. As he looked around, he saw hundreds of his comrades lying on the ground unconscious, all with blood leaking out of their mouths. Some of them had broken noses and missing teeth and had deep burn wounds on their bodies.

The man sucked in his teeth and groaned as he turned to face what, or who was holding him by his neck. The figure that was holding him was a young woman, she had a confident and sly smile plastered on her face. Her wild scarlet hair was tied back into a high ponytail, leaving one long bang cascading against her beautiful face. "Damn you, Hayes..." The man coughed up blood as he spoke, making the young girl chuckle as she watched him. "You really are a damn demon, aren't you? Why would you do this?"

"Funny, you guys were the bold ones, picking a fight with me and now you're asking me to take it easy on you?" The young girl laughed before she squeezed the man's neck harder and looked sternly at the man. "You lot are so pathetic, I know you all are Dark Wizards but you should have some honor at least." She then threw the man onto the ground, allowing him to catch his breath as he lay in front of the girl. "Take your comrades and get out of my face. You disgust me." Hayes began to turn away from the man and began walking away as the man stumbled on the ground.

As the man lay on his hands and knees, he began chuckling as he slid one of his hands into his trenchcoat. "So, you decide to let me go since I'm so pathetic huh...?" The man stood up on his knees, pulling out a dagger and a purple Lacrima. "That was your last mistake! Now, you die Erza Hayes!" The man stood up completely as the Lacrima shone with a bright indigo light, causing Erza to turn around with a surprised look on her face. Before Erza was able to make a move, her body was encased by ropes of shadow energy. "SHADOW BIND!" As Erza was tied down by the shadow straps, the Dark Wizard ran towards her with his dagger.

"You can't escape now! Those shadow strands are impossible to escape from!" The man cackled as he rushed toward Erza with the dagger thrusting down at her. "DIE HAYES!"

Just as the dagger was flying towards her, Erza looked up at the man with a confident smirk as she began chuckling. "You know... You're a damn idiot, you know that?"

"What the hell are you?" Just as the man got close to her scarlet locks, he was forcefully pushed back by the intense burning flames that erupted. His sleeves and shirt burned away from the heat and as he sat up from lying on his back, he looked up at his attacker. Erza Hayes stood there cracking her knuckles before holding her left hand up, it soon being encased in black-tinted scarlet flames. The man then screeched as he laid his head down, resting on his hands and knees. "Please spare me, Ms. Hayes! That was a momentary change of heart! I was just trying to show you what I could do! Think of what you could do if you had a partner!" He sat up on his knees and looked at the redhead with a shaky smile.

Erza sucked her teeth as she clenched her flame-covered fist. "You're not going to fool me twice. I gave you a chance for you to leave and you try to attack me, and you want me to make you my partner? You must think I'm a fool, no. I won't let you be my partner and actually, I was too nice to let you go." She then lit her right hand and held both hands up in the air, the flames from her hands began circling inwards in the air, forming a giant fireball and alarming the man. "I think I should return your action of killing intent with my own." Just as the man screamed and began running away, Erza clasped her hands together and began throwing them down. "FIRE DEVIL'S..." The large fireball barreled toward the man and before he could scream, it landed on him and burnt him and the surrounding land. "SCORCHING FLARE!" As the giant fireball finished expanding and burned away the nearby trees and land, it dissipated and evaporated, leaving behind only smoke and ash. None of the remaining Dark Wizards were to be seen. Erza flipped her bang to the side of her face as she walked away from the smoking crater. "... Besides..." As she was walking away, she placed a hand on her chest and clenched her hand. "There is only one man I will allow to be at my side..." She closed her eyes and smiled as she envisioned a young man with spiky hair and a warm wide toothy grin.

She smiled as she opened her eyes, continuing to walk towards a nearby village. 'I will find you soon, Natsu...'

The Fairy Tail guild was rowdy as always, many of the guild members were laughing and cheering amongst themselves. Some were dancing, some were laughing as they told stories about their adventures while filling their bellies with booze and food, and others were having fun with friendly sparring.

"That the best you got, snowflake?! You hit like a damn girl!" A tall muscular black-haired man whose face was ridden with metal piercings cackled as he stood above another man whose hair was as black as raven's wings and wiped his mouth as trickles of blood leaked out.

The dark-haired man grunted as he stood up, throwing away his white shirt, and placed his fist into his hand while reading himself. "Bring it on then, metalhead! You got lucky! I'll beat your ass so hard that you'll be in the infirmary for weeks!"

... Friendly wasn't the right word.

"Seriously?" A brunette woman who was sitting at the guild's bar sighed as she placed down her mug of Honey Beer. "Are Gajeel and Gray going at it again? That'll be the third time this week they duked it out! Can't they just sit still for once?"

A white-haired barmaid giggled as she cleaned some of the glasses and dishes, standing behind the brunette woman. "You know that they're not going to stop any time soon, Cana. Boys will be boys after all~."

"What's going on? What's with the loud shouting?" A blonde woman wearing a white and blue sleeveless shirt and a blue mini-skirt walked up to the two women and turned her head toward the noise. She sighed and frowned. "Seriously?... Gajeel and Gray are going at it again?" The blonde turned towards the white-haired barmaid as she sat down on the barstool. "Can't you do anything about this, Mira? This is probably the fourth time this week those two have been going at it!"

Mira shook her head as she sighed. "Unfortunately, I can't. If the Master was here, I'm sure that he'll do something to stop it, but he won't be back from this council meeting for another two days."

"TWO DAYS?!" The blonde shrieked as she slammed her hands on the bar countertop and then flopped down on her hands. "If they keep this up, there won't be a guild for the Master to return to..."

"Hey, Gray! Gajeel!" The brunette slammed her empty beer mug on the guild countertop as she turned to face the two sparring men. "Would you two quit it already?! Some of us are just trying to relax!"

The man whose fist was in his hand turned to look at the brunette. "Stay out of it, Cana! Gajeel's the one who started this fight and I have to get him back for that sucker punch!"

Gajeel chuckled as he crossed his arms with a sly smirk. "Sucker punch? Ha! You're just too damn slow, Gray. I guess you're just not on my level of power, I mean I did finish more jobs than you have this month anyway!" He chuckled as he lifted his hands and shook his head.

Gray gritted his teeth before smirking. "You're right, metalhead. You did complete more jobs but I've done more training than you've done all month!"

Gajeel stopped chuckling and looked at the darker-haired man sternly. "Oh yeah? And where's that taken you?"

Gray smirked and squatted slightly as more icy mist released from his hands, engulfing the entirety of the guild. "You know what they say, actions speak louder than words!" Just as he shouted that there was an explosion of mist erupted, causing Gajeel and the other members of the Fairy Tail guild to cover their eyes and shiver.

"Just what the?!" As Gajeel cleared the mist from his eyes, his eyes widened as he saw Gray lunging toward him with a sword made of pure ice. Just as the ice sword was flying downward on Gajeel, Gajeel gritted his teeth and held up his left arm as it transformed into an iron sword, clashing his with Gray's ice blade. "Heh, all that just to make a sword, seems like you are all talk!" Gajeel pushed Gray back and covered his fist in iron scales. "IRON DRAGON'S HARD FIST!" He then slammed his fist into Gray's face, sending the ice mage flying toward the guild wall. Gajeel smiled deviously but stopped when he realized that Gray had been... Smiling?

'What the hell is he?' Before he could finish that thought, Gray's body began to crack and suddenly disappeared into icicle shards, making the Iron Dragonslayer's eyes widen from shock.

"ICE MAKE: FLOOR!" Gajeel whipped his head to the shouting voice behind him but was unable to move as his feet were encased in hard ice. He watched to see Gray Fullbuster smirking at him while his fist was in his hand. "Frozen in your tracks, metalhead?" Gray joked as he spread his feet wide and squatted. "Try and sneak your way out of this, Gajeel! ICE MAKE: HAMMER!" Just as Gray finished shouting, a large hammer made completely of ice descended swiftly toward Gajeel and crashed into him, creating a thundering impact on the ground. As the air cleared, the ice hammer dissipated and left a rectangular crater with a nose-bleeding and mouth-bleeding Gajeel in the center. Walking triumphantly toward the dazed man, Gray knelt down and smirked at Gajeel. "Had enough yet?"

Suddenly, Gray jumped back as an iron blade had almost cut him. He stood back as Gajeel jumped up, wiping his nose and mouth. "Gihi, you sneaky bastard... That's how you wanna play? Fine, I'm game. Let's go, Gray!" Gajeel began running toward the ice mage.

"You're the one who started this and I'm gonna end it!" Gray then began running toward the Iron Dragonslayer. Both men yelled as they ran toward one another.

"IRON DRAGON...!"

"ICE MAKE!"

Before the two could make another attack on each other, both of their heads were struck heavily by heavy fists. As both mages fell on the ground, completely dazed, they looked up to see a man with tan skin and hair as vibrantly pink as a Dianthus flower in bloom. The young salmon-haired man stood above the two men, folding his arms as he sternly gazed at them. "Just what the hell do you two think you're doing?"

Gray, being the first to snap out of the daze, quickly spoke up. "It's Gajeel's fault! If he didn't sneak me, I wouldn't have!"

"Oh, please, you were asking for it, you damn stripper!"

Gray pressed his forehead on Gajeel as he glared at him. "What did you say, metalhead?!"

"Gajeel... Gray..." The two men turned their heads toward the salmon-haired man and quivered, holding onto each other comically as the man seemed to tower over them with his dark stern gaze. "I will not have you two destroy the guild while the Master is away, else... I will personally make sure you two don't cause any more destruction..." The salmon-haired man stepped closer to the two men, both sweating profusely. "Else, I will have to rectify this problem. By. Any. Means. Necessary. And we don't want that, do we, boys?"

"A-AYE SIR!" Both men quickly saluted and stood straight up, making the salmon-haired man smile.

"Good, now then, Lucy!" The salmon-haired man turned his head toward the bar as the blonde woman flinched but stood up. "I believe that you and Wendy needed to go on a job?"

"R-Right! But how did you?"

"Wendy caught me on my way back to the guild, I was returning from my own job request." The man spoke in a matter-of-fact tone.

"O-Oh OK, well don't you think that you should rest, Natsu? I mean, you should probably take a break."

"Are you questioning my strength?" Natsu asked sternly, which caused the blonde to shake her head frantically.

"W-What?! No!"

"Then, let us be off!" Natsu smiled as he began to walk toward the guild doors with Lucy following behind him. "I better not come back to a messy guild hall, else we'll have some problems, understand everyone?"

Everyone within the guild hall stood straight and nodded frantically before saluting. "A-AYE SIR!"

"Thank you for coming with us, Natsu." A young girl whose dark-blue hair was tied into long pigtails timidly spoke as she, Lucy, and Natsu exited the train station. "But are you sure that you'll be OK going on this mission with Lucy and me?"

Natsu smiled warmly at the young girl before patting her head. "Why, I'll be fine, Wendy. I'm happy to help my friends out, besides, I am one of Fairy Tail's S-Class Wizards after all. Going on a few jobs repeatedly won't hurt me, it'll just help me to get stronger!" He smiled as he grabbed his bicep and flexed it, making Wendy chuckle.

Lucy smiled as she watched the two and then pulled out a town map from her handbag. She looked at it and studied it as they walked. "According to the mayor of the town, it would seem that they are suffering from a severe bandit problem."

Natsu cracked his fists and smiled confidently. "Seems like an easy job, a much-needed change from my last job! I'm in the mood for a challenge!" Natsu then looked toward the treeline and saw smoke rising from the forest. "I suppose that's where our bandits are hiding. Ready, you two?"

Both Wendy and Lucy nodded their heads and smiled at Natsu. "Aye, sir!"

"Then let us be off!" Natsu quickly ran toward the smoke with the two following behind him. As the three ran into the forest, they began to study their surroundings and saw many of the bandits and a few of the townspeople either unconscious or severely burned. Natsu raised his left hand to stop the two girls and he knelt down to see a burned man panting. Natsu reached his arm around the man's back and lifted him slightly. "Sir, can you tell me what happened?"

"She..." The man croaked out slowly. "She's overpowering the bandits."

Natsu raised an eyebrow. "Who? Who's overpowering the bandits? We're wizards from Fairy Tail, we were sent to take care of them."

"You can't stop her..." The man spoke slowly. "Run away before the Scarlet Devil overpowers you too." The man then closed his eyes and leaned motionlessly in Natsu's arms.

"Is... Is he?" Lucy brought a hand to her face as her voice began to quiver.

"No," Natsu spoke sternly as he stood up. "Luckily, the man is unconscious. Lucy, you and Wendy stay here and see if you can find anyone still breathing. Take them to the village and heal them, I'll go on ahead and take care of the problem."

"B-But, Natsu," Wendy held both her small hands together in front of her green and blue dress as she stepped forward. "What'll happen if you end up the same way?"

"I won't, Wendy but if I do, come back here in one hour if you don't see me, understand?" Wendy looked at Lucy, both of them looking nervously but they nodded their heads. "Good, now go!" As the two girls picked up the man and carried him toward the town, Natsu began running deeper into the woods. The deeper he got, he saw many trees splintered and severely burned, as well as the ground. 'Who in Ishgar would cause so much destruction?' He thought as he continued to go deeper. 'Whoever they may be, I will be sure to make them cease.'

Suddenly, Natsu jumped to the right as a man clad in dark brown pants and a bandanna covering his face came flying toward him. The man flew face first into a tree and crashed on the ground, quickly becoming unconscious. Natsu turned his head back towards the front and saw a tall woman with vibrant scarlet hair gripping a bandit's neck, causing the man to cough up blood. Natsu's eyes widened and he lifted his hand as he yelled. "Stop! Just what on Earthland are you doing?!"

The woman snorted as she heard the man and began to turn to face him. "And just why the hell should?" As she fully turned to face the salmon-haired man, her eyes widened as she let go of the bandit. She studied all of the man's features: his wild and spiky dark pink hair, his chiseled but gentle face, the toned and well-built muscles that were slightly hidden under his sapphire o neck t-shirt and brown jeans. "N... Natsu? Is that you?" The woman began walking towards the man as her eyes began to water.

Natsu's face scrunched in confusion as he saw this. He stepped back slightly in his black boots. "I am Natsu, yes but just who the hell are?!" Before he could finish, Natsu was suddenly pushed on the ground by the energetic redhead.

The redhead dug her nose into Natsu's chest while shaking her head, inhaling his scent before pulling her head up and smiling gleefully. "It is you! Oh, Natsu! How I've missed you! I've spent too many days apart from you but now that doesn't matter! You're here with me again!" The redheaded woman caressed Natsu's cheek and neck as she smiled softly.

"Wait a minute!" Natsu sat up, slightly pushing the redhead, making her pout. "You know who I am but I have no clue who you are, as a matter of fact, why should I even trust you? You're the one who caused all this destruction, aren't you?!"

"You are right, I was the one who did all this." The redhead spoke in a matter-of-fact tone before frowning and crossing her arms. "Wouldn't you want your fiancee to defend herself against potential suitors?"

"Fiancee?!" Natsu flinched greatly as he yelled. "I have no recollection of ever proposing to you!"

The redhead grabbed Natsu's face with her warm slender hands as she smirked. "Then how about I remind you~?" She whispered sultrily and quickly captured the salmon-haired man's lips. As the two kissed, Natsu's eyes widened but as his tongue wrestled with the scarlet woman's, his mind began to be filled with images of him when he was a child.

A small girl with scarlet hair and a small boy with dark pink hair was running down a dirt path. They laughed at each other's company and stopped underneath a blossoming cherry blossom tree. The small girl tilted her head in confusion as the boy began to frown.

"What's wrong, Natsu?"

The young boy looked up at the girl with determination glinted in his eyes. "I may not be the strongest around but I promise that I will." Natsu took the girl's hands and held them. "No matter what Erza, I'm going to make sure you will always smile."

Erza smiled softly at that response and hugged Natsu warmly then looked up at him with a joyful smile. "Then, promise me that we'll be together forever, I want you by my side everyday."

"I promise. And when we get older, I'll make you my wife! Then we'll be together forever!"

Erza smiled with light red dusting her cheeks as she smiled brightly. "It's a promise!"

As Erza pulled away from Natsu's lips, the young man looked at the woman in astonished daze. "E... Erza... I remember you."

"It's been too long, my love! I've been searching for you for a long time now." Erza pouted as she wrapped her arms around Natsu's neck. "Where have you gone?"

Natsu scratched his head as he groaned. "I can't remember anything else! E... Everything after that is a blur! I... I can't focus on it!"

"Well, we're together again so we can always figure it out." Erza leaned toward Natsu for another kiss but Natsu turned away.

"But wait!" Natsu shook his head as he grabbed Erza's shoulders. "Just what exactly are you? Are you a good person or are you bad? Why would you do all of this? Answer me honestly."

Erza looked away from Natsu as sighed. "I've... I've just done what I needed to survive, I'm not proud of what I've done but I had no other choice... I'm sorry, Natsu. I did what I did in hopes to see you again..."

Seeing Erza look so saddened tugged at Natsu's heartstrings, his mind began to draw images of the same little girl with teary eyes and scraps all over her body. He didn't want to see the woman in front of him to make those kinds of faces again, even though he had just met her today, he knew in his heart that he wanted no need to protect her. Natsu rubbed the woman's face softly as he gently whispered. "... Come back to Fairy Tail with me."

Erza's eyes widened and shone as he looked at Natsu. "Y... You want me to come with you? But I'm a vigilante, I don't think I would be welcomed at your guild."

"Yes, you've done some bad things. But I can't leave you by yourself, I may not remember everything and don't know your full past. But I know one thing: I need to protect you, I made that promise to you years ago and I plan on keeping it." Natsu smiled warmly at the redhead. "Besides, everyone gets second chances at Fairy Tail, we're a family and we have each other's back. Everyone might be a little hesitant at first but soon you'll become part of the family." Natsu stood up and offered his hand. "So, come with me, let me fulfill that promise."

Erza smiled gleefully and happily took the man's hand. "I'll follow you wherever you lead me, love!"

A short balding elderly man sat in front of Erza with his arms folded. "So, mind telling me your name, young lady?"

"Erza Hayes and I take it that you're the Guild Master?"

"Indeed I am. Are you surprised by how I look?" The man joked to which Erza replied by chuckling and shaking her head.

"Trust me, with as many people I've seen and fought, you're not a surprise. Plus, I can feel by your Magical Power of how mighty you actually are so I don't doubt your capabilities."

The man raised both eyebrows as he leaned back in his office chair, smiling. "You are a quick one! I would assume you're so observant from your nomadic living, however you won't need to worry about that any longer. I'm sure that Natsu told you that you'll be welcomed."

"Yes, he did. But, are you sure that I can? I... I've done some terrible things in my past, I don't think I could be forgiven for them."

"My child, no one lives a perfect life. We all have done bad things, no one here is perfect. There's even members here who have been in your same shoes, doing what they needed to make it to the next day. I assure you that you needn't be an ideal moral pillar, just promise me one thing: if the urge to take another's life is too great, be sure it is to protect the ones you love. When you think of it that way, it helps to ease the pressure."

"... Thank you, I will remember that. What was your name again?"

"Makarov Dreyar, I welcome you to the Fairy Tail Guild, Ms. Hayes."

Erza began to chuckle, making Makarov tilt his head. "I would hope to soon be called Mrs. Diaval, since I am Natsu's fiancee."

Makarov began chuckling loudly. "I suppose you are right! I hope you two make a family together as well!"

"I can assure you that we will!" Erza got up from the chair and bowed before leaving the room. As the energetic redhead left the room, Makarov followed behind her and smiled warmly as he watched Erza hold onto Natsu so tightly, making the salmon-haired man blush greatly and grumble as the other members began to tease him.

As the two soon left the guild, Makarov sighed happily. 'Let's see if this Erza girl can crack the armor around Natsu's heart, I want that boy to know true love and happiness, as his foster father, I need him to. I want him to enjoy life and to do so with someone he truly loves.'
