Chapter XIV:
Endgame PT 2:
In the skies high above Republic City the Quinjet soared across the sky at high speed and they were closing in on the Pro-Bending Arena. Cap gazed out the window as he saw the city below and the countless lives that are at risk from MODOKs revolution. His attention turned back to his fellow Avengers Hulk was in the back with Bolin and Naga while Black Widow was flying the jet with Asami as copilot Iron Man was up front as well.
"JARVIS where are we at with the AIM Carrier?" Cap then asked.
"Mapping radiation signatures now sir." JARVIS relayed, and within seconds they saw it. The AIM carrier hovering above the arena with its new transformation complete like dish of some kind.
Bolin couldn't help but whistle rather impressed. "That's a big ship. But wait hasn't it gotten bigger since the Pro Bending finals?"
"Well thats Georgie for you go big or go home." Iron Man said.
"Avengers!" A voice called on the coms and then flying alongside them was Thor.
"Thor, have you found Korra and the others?" Cap asked.
"Nay when I arrived at the arena I found no trace of them or Amon." Thor replied.
"Do you think they're okay?" Asami asked greatly worried.
"JARVIS see if you can get a lock on Kamala's suit signal." Iron Man spoke up.
"I am attempting to now sir, but it would seem I am picking up increased energy levels coming from the centre of the ship." JARVIS relayed.
Asami then noticed something about the construction of the ship namely the tower structure above. "Hold on, JARVIS can you get a clearer look on the carrier?"
"Yes Miss Sato." JARVIS replied and so the screen in the cockpit showed a zoomed in revealing the top of the carrier was transformed into a massive dish with large towers attached in the centre surging with energy.
"There see the shape of it, it it kinda looks like a dish of some kind." Asami noted and it wasn't long before Tony caught on as well.
"Yeah but it's not just a dish, it's a dispersement array." He realised. "This is how MODOK's gonna do it, he's using that array to amplify the range of the Dark Terrigen."
"Right and from what you guys told us of when you last faced them MODOK was using the warships to disperse the Dark Terrigen, but that was in your world, here his resources would've been limited so with my fathers help he created a bigger version." Asami theorised.
"Right and if one warship could spread it across a city." Iron Man said.
"An array as powerful as this could be enough to broadcast the Dark Terrigen wave across the entire planet." Black Widow realised. "They'd just have to get to a high enough altitude to maximise its effectiveness."
"Sir, the ship is beginning to gain altitude." JARVIS relayed. "But I believe I have locked onto Miss Kahn's location in the lower quarter of the ship it is a likely hood Miss Korra and Master Mako are with her."
"They must be held prisoner." Cap realised.
"Pardon me Avengers I am now picking up small flying objects heading towards us at top speed." JARVIS relayed.
Everyone looked ahead and saw the objects coming towards them, and these objects were man shaped which meant only one thing. "Adaptoids!" Cap realised.
The squadron of Adaptoids hovered in position and suddenly one of them began to glow with a strange purple energy. The greatest surprise however, was this Adaptoid then spoke.
"Ah I was wondering when my old friends would show up!" It said and the Avengers recognised that voice all too well.
"MODOK." Iron Man glared.
"How is that thing talking!?" Bolin questioned.
"He can control units remotely even speak through them." Black Widow explained.
"Whoa, if I wasn't disgusted by that I'd be impressed." Asami said.
"You know this brings back old memories, how long ago in San Francisco I tried to cleanse the world of Inhumanity but you all with your pathetic code prevented something amazing!" MODOK Spoke. "Logic and reason will now guide this worlds future and I will succeed where I had failed and you will witness the end of the benders forever Amon has failed but MODOK won't!"
"Wow, he's really got the evil villain monologue down hasn't he." Bolin said.
"Five years of practice kid." Iron Man said to him.
"Please say I can smash them now!" Hulk cracked his fists. However to answer that before the lead Adaptoid could speak further Thor slammed it with his hammer completely destroying it. He turned to the Quin jet.
"Avengers get to MODOKs flying fortress find our friends." Thor then griped his hammer surging with power. "I shall deal with these Adaptoids."
With that the Quinjet flew past this blockade and just when the Adaptoids were about to attack, Thor launched a thunder blast at said Adaptoid destroying it. "Face me Adaptoids! Lets see what you mechanical terrors can do in the face of Mjolnir!" He spun his hammer and charged at the blockade.
The Quin jet flew straight towards the AIM Carrier as it was charging with more and more energy. Hulk however was complaining. "How come goldilocks gets all the fun!?"
"Calm down big guy I'm pretty sure they'll be plenty of fun for you on the big fish." Iron Man said.
"Nat take us in, Hulk, Bolin, Iron Man with me we're going to take down that Dark Terrigen core before MODOK can disperse it." Cap strategised.
With that Widow locked the Quinjets weapons on the outer hull of the ship. "Hey Asami care to do the honours?" Widow smirked to Asami.
"My pleasure." Asami smirked in response as she pressed down the trigger on her control and fired a missile right at the target blowing a hole in the side of the AIM Carrier creating an opening.
"There's your way in boys." Black Widow said to them as she menovered the Quinjet so the rear door was facing the hole. "Have fun and I want you home by nine." She then joked.
"Yes mom." Tony joked back as he lowered his face plate until Hulk punched him out of the way.
"Enough talk lets smash!" Hulk roared as he jumped from the Quin Jet and into the Carrier and instantly charged forwards.
"Okay he can scare me at times but yeah lets do this!" Bolin exclaimed and jumped from the Quin-jet along with Iron Man and Captain America. The Jet then took off from the area.
"We'll back up Thor you guys take out that Dark Terrigen." Black Widow radioed to them.
"Hold on what about Korra, Mako and Kamala, shouldn't we be trying to rescue them?" Asami asked.
"Don't worry we've got it handled." Widow assured her as they changed course and flew into battle to help the God of Thunder.
On board the Carrier the other Avengers and Bolin hurried down the hallways. "Tony can you track the Dark Terrigen?"
"Working on it." Iron Man said and on his hud he saw the energy signals. "Okay got it according to the radiation levels the Dark Terrigen core is somewhere in the centre of the ship. Must be close to the Array so MODOK can disperse it."
"Alright, Tony you Bolin and I are going after that core. Hulk, Bolin clear a path!" Cap ordered.
"You and me big guy let's do this!" Bolin exclaimed then suddenly Hulk picked him up and put him on his back.
"Then hang on your on the highway to the HULK ZONE!" Hulk roared and charged through another wall of the carrier where they were met by several AIM agents some were in AIM Mechs and they instantly fired their weapons at the two Hulk charged forwards into battle grabbing one mech and tossed it into a wall and Bolin leaped off and kicked out the AIM agent manning it.
"I can't Earthbend up here but I'm still gonna play!" Bolin smirked.
He entered the cockpit of the mech and took control. Hulk swatted away another AIM Agent away with his fist while Iron Man blasted the others away with his repulsers. Another AIM war bot was about to attack until a certain star spangled shield struck it in the waist slicing it in half as Captain America kicked it down as the shield returned to him. However another AIM Mech was about to get the jump on him but then a punch from another Mech slammed it to a wall it looked to see Bolin piloting the mech.
"Heh Bolin smash!" He yelled and charged right at the other AIM Mech landing punch after punch and then landed a knee to the mechs torso. The AIM Agent piloting said mech tried to fight back only for Bolin to grab the mech by the waist.
"Hulk think fast!" Bolin tossed the mech towards the gamma giant who with one punch smashed the mech to pieces. Luckily the agent ejected.
"Heh nice kid there's hope for you yet." Hulk smirked to which Bolin smiled excitedly in return. "Now lets smash!"
"You got it!" Bolin exclaimed and the two of them charged into battle while Iron Man and Cap defeated the remaining AIM Agents.
"You know I worry about the influence Hulk is having on that kid." Iron Man said.
"Lets move!" Cap said as they hurried down the hall unaware that they were being watched by a camera above.
Central Control:
"The Avengers and their so called friends never disappoint." MODOK sneered seeing the security footage while behind him was his now powerless guest Amon wearing an inhibitor collar. Under the guard of his former Luitenant and Task Master.
"You want them taken out?" The Lieutenant asked him. "I can deal with Captain America personally."
"I do admire your enthusiasm Lieutenant, but at this point they cannot stop what is about to happen." MODOK said.
"You told me not to underestimate them MODOK!" Amon then spoke. "It seems like you are making the same mistake but wasn't it I who left the Avatar powerless?"
"Your observation is lacked by your arrogance, for you see unlike you Amon or uh Noatak I do not let such a thing blind me. Only reason guides us now and they are destined to fail. Much like you." MODOK glared at him.
"I was destined to fail!? I took down the abusive bending regime I dismantled the Republic!" Amon yelled in anger.
"All with technology I gave to you! Even with Hiroshi's aid there is a 89% chance your so called revolution would've fallen thanks to the Avatar regardless of the Avengers involvement." MODOK said to him. "You see Amon I calculate these inevitabilities and now we are at this moment. You should be grateful, you wanted the world free of the Benders and thats what I'm doing."
Amon just glared at the giant headed villain who betrayed him. He knew he couldn't do anything with his Bending blocked so he scanned the room and then noticed some AIM taser sticks close to him.
Meanwhile: The Cells:
Ms Marvel lies unconscious on the ground with an inhibitor collar around her neck and she could faintly hear a voice. "Kamala…Kamala!" She stirred to faintly make out Makos face. "Kamala!"
She groaned as she came too. "Ahh..Mako…what what happened?"
"I don't know when I came to I found us in this place, I don't know where." Mako said still wearing his inhibitor Collar.
Then it came rushing back to Kamala. "Now I remember! That lousy bobble head cheated and teleported us into a cell!" Suddenly she saw Korra in the corner of the room. "Korra!" She ran over to her and saw she too was wearing an inhibitor collar.
She shook her trying to wake her up but no response. "Korra!" Mako then came over. "Is she?"
"She's alright she's just knocked out." Mako said to her but it was then Ms Marvel remembered what caused this in the first place and she looked down in regret. "Are you alright?"
"No…I'm not…Mako. Amon took her bending and ….and I couldn't do anything to stop it!" Ms Marvel said with tears in her eyes. "We promised to look out for each other…and …and I failed her I failed us all."
Mako comfortingly put a hand on her shoulder. "Hey you didn't fail and this is in no way your fault Amons a powerful Bender and he had me in his grip too." He told her as tears fell from her eyes. "But what matters now is what we do to set things right, we're gonna figure this out and send Amon back to the hole he crawled out of!"
Ms Marvel realised he was right, this wasn't the time for self pity or taking the blame. She wiped away her tears and nodded in response. Now however they needed a way to get out of the cell.
"Well. Not stuck in here you won't." The two turned round and saw a certain archer Avenger standing there.
"Clint!" Ms Marvel beamed and Mako looked with even greater joy and relief.
"Thats my name don't wear it out kid." Hawkeye then proceeded to lay a small charge on the door controls and after two seconds it exploded and the forcefield on the door was lowered.
Hawkeye then entered the cell and knelt down to them. "Okay hold still a sec." He then pulled out a small taser and zapped Ms Marvels inhibitor collar which disabled it and it fell off he did the same to Korra's and Makos he ignited his fist he had his bending back. He then picked Korra up bridal style and they hurried out of the cell.
"Lets go we need to meet up with Cap and the others."Hawkeye said, and they hurried down the hallway.
Meanwhile:
In the sky it was an all out battle Thor clashed with the Adaptoids bringing the thunder of the sky crashing down with his hammer Mjolnir. The thunder struck two of the Adaptoids completely destroying them. However he was struck from behind by a fire blast. He turned and saw two firebending Adaptoids unleashing fire towards the god of Thunder who twirled his hammer to deflect the fire blasts. However a Metalbending Adaptoid was flying towards him with bladed arms. However an unknown force shot it out of the sky. Thor turned round and saw the Quinjet flying in, with Widow and Asami at the controls firing at the Adaptoids.
"Wow nice shooting!" Asami said impressed.
"Years of practice kid." Black Widow smirked proudly as she activated the gatling gun below the jet and opened fire upon the Adaptoids that surrounded Thor and tore them apart.
However one Adaptoid was now flying after the Quinjet and unleashed a lightning blast towards it and just missed it. Shaking the girls up in the cockpit. Widow quickly steered the Quinjet to avoid another lightning blast however this Adaptoid was soon joined by two more with Firebending Adaptoids that fired fire fists at the jet which did a barrel roll to avoid it.
"Whoa, did MODOK make these things persistent?" Asami asked.
"You have no idea." Black Widow said when a near hit from a fire fist shook the aircraft. "Whoa." She said. "Okay kid, you're up lets see if your a good a fly boy as Tony."
Asami smirked back in response as she put on her goggles and activated her power pack. Seconds later the rear doors of the Quin jet opened and Asami flew out of it and fired her repulsers at the three Adaptoids causing them to scatter. They then flew behind Asami, and unleashed a lightning blast towards her but she simply flipped in the air and fired a repulser blast at the lead Adaptoid right in the back before she kicked it in the back and fired her boot jets blasting a hole in the robots back. Then put her hands together and fired a powerful twin repulser blast on the the Adaptoid above her blasting its right arm off completely. Before the robot could react with a fire fist Asami performed a flying roundhouse kick and knocked the robots head clean off.
Asami looked impressed however the remaining Adaptoid was flying behind her and was about to jump her with a fire dagger. When suddenly a thunder blast shocked it to the point where it blew turned round swiftly to see Thor hovering behind her with a very proud looking smile.
"Most impressive fair Asami!" Thor complimented. "We may make an Avenger out of you yet."
"Well, I'm no Tony but I get the job done." Asami replied.
"On the contrary Asami, I think you and Stark are more alike than you realise, you both possess that same theatrical flare in battle." Thor complimented further. "And you know the right thing to do in your heart."
Asami was rather touched by the god of Thunders compliments. "Wow thanks, now what's say we ground the rest of these robot rip offs."
"My lady it would be my pleasure!" Thor agreed and the two flew into battle with the remaining Adaptoids.
Together the two of them blasted kicked and destroyed all the Bending Adaptoids. Thor demolished three with a thunder strike from his hammer, while Asami fired a double repulser blast blasting right through one Adaptoids chest, as the Quinjet tore apart two others with missiles and gatling gun attacks.
Thor and Asami delivered a final punch to an Adaptoid smashing its head clean off. "Ha ha! These mechanical minions are finished!" Thor cheered however Asami's grim look said otherwise.
"Uh Thor!" She pointed and he turned around to see more of the Adaptoids flying from the AIM Carrier and right towards them.
"Prepare yourself Asami this may take a while!" Thor readied his hammer while Asami resided her repulsers in an Iron Man styled pose. The Adaptoids drew closer and closer when all of a sudden out of nowhere one was shot down by a blast of fire and another by lightning.
The two were surprised but when they looked down to the ground below them they saw their help. It was the second wave of Reinforcements from the United Forces lead by Commander Bumi, Tenzins brother and General Iroh.
"Focus fire on the metal machines give the Avengers some cover!" Iroh told commander Bumi who had rather messed up hair but was dressed in a red united forces uniform.
"You heard him boys lets give these tin men a fight they won't forget yahoooo!" Bumi yelled in excitement.
From their gun placements the fire benders opened fired on the Adaptoids above some even unleashed lightning from their cannons. While the Water Benders bent the water around the ships and fired ice spikes which impailed another Adaptoid in the air.
Thor flew close to the ship as did Asami. "Many thanks General Iroh." He called.
"Don't mention it now go stop that ship we can take it from here!" Iroh called out to them.
"Consider it done!" Thor and Asami flew up into the air and along side the Quinjet.
"Come on can't let the boys have all the fun." Widow then smirked and the three flew towards the AIM Carrier.
AIM Carrier:Central Control:
MODOK continues to channel energy through the gem in his forehead as he feels the energy surging through it. The Dispersment array continues building in power and the reflector plates on the side begin surging with power. Suddenly a strained sound was heard behind him and groaning sounds however suddenly the whole room lit up with purple energy. He just smirked evilly.
"Did you really think I wouldn't predict such a move." He said as behind him Amon was standing up and he'd blood bent Task Master and his former Lieutenant into submission. It seems the Equalist leader had used a taser stick to break his Inhibitor collar as he was now holding said shock stick in his hand. MODOK just turned round to face his released captive.
"I must congratulate you on your efforts Amon, but trying to blood bend me is pointless, despite you being more powerful than your brother, as I told him I am more machine than man!" MODOK said.
Amon remained silent as he glared towards the one who had betrayed and used him. He kept his bloodbending grip on Task Master and the Lieutenant while keeping his sights on MODOK.
"Ah a man of few words, not even those of defiance." MODOK sneered.
"I will not entertain you, I will destroy you for this betrayal even if it ends with the both of us." Amon glared.
"Well then…let me help you." MODOK Simply said then suddenly he unleashed a powerful laser blast from his forehead which blasted Amon right in the chest and right through the metal walls he hit a pipe and fell down into the ventilation below.
With him gone, the Lieutenant and Task Master were free of his grip as they regained their strength. "You want us to hunt him down finish him off?!" TaskMaster said.
"He's not worth the time, if he happens to cross paths with the Avengers he will likely destroy them for us, or they him its a victory no matter the outcome." MODOK Simply said until a radio message came through from the AIM Agents.
"Sir Captain America and Iron Man are closing in on the Dark Terrigen core and…" The Agent was suddenly cut off by the sound of an explosion and a familiar roar.
"Liutenant." MODOK Then said turning to the two of them. "You wanted a chance to take down Captain America well now you have it both of you get down there and do not let them get to the core I need more time to indicate the sequence!"
The two nodded and rushed out the room as MODOK concentrated the power of his gem sending more power to the array as its transformation was nearly complete.
Centre of the ship:
Hulk had torn down more of the AIM Forces in his way with Bolin providing back up from his mech as he fired upon the approaching AIM assault robots. One was about to attack him but Hulk grabbed it and slammed it into a wall.
"They're here!" Alerted another AIM Agent. "Block the way!" Another Agent then planted a thermal charge on the wall and they ran just as it detonated and the explosion blinded them both.
Once the smoked cleared it revealed that explosion had sealed off the tunnel completely in rubble. "Oh great looks like they really didn't want us getting through." Bolin groaned.
"All the more reason to get there quickly." Cap and Iron Man then arrived on the scene. "Hulk think you can clear us a path?" Cap then asked.
Hulk just smirked at that and went up to the rubble, pulled a punch and shattered the largest of the boulders and it revealed a way through however the largest of the destroyed metal was about to fall until Hulk grabbed it.
"Heres your path." Hulk said however at that moment they heard the sound of approaching forces.
"You guys go we'll keep them busy!" Bolin told the two of them so Cap and Iron Man hurried through the passage and once they were through Hulk released the rubble.
"Now lets get back to smashing!" Hulk smirked cracking his knuckles and Bolin nodded back in response.
On the other side of the rubble Cap and Iron Man had soon arrive at the central core of the ship. Lying within they found the Dark Terrigen core it was loaded in the centre of a large machine obviously linked to the array.
"Well looks like we found our Dark Terrigen." Iron Man observed.
"That is an astute observation sir." JARVIS replied.
"Its a much bigger quantity that was in that bomb and even more than the original Terrigen crystal on A-Day." Cap realised.
Suddenly an electro shock surged through the floor, Cap and Iron Man swiftly jumped away from the shock and the two looked to see The Lieutenant and Task Master standing before them.
"Ah great the gruesome twosome." Iron Man said as he and Cap stood ready. However the Super Soldiers gaze turned to the Lieutenant.
"Lieutenant listen to me, Amon isn't the man you think he is." Cap tried.
"You can save your preaching I already know, Amon is a Bloodbender just as the Avatar said he betrayed his own cause! And now I side with the one that ensures our future!" The Lieutenant said.
"AIM!" Cap realised. "I thought you were smarter than this!"
"Yeah hate to tell ya pal, but your new boss is gonna destroy both Benders and Non Benders I don't think thats a cause worth following." Iron Man added.
"Save your breath Stark, things are changing and sometimes it requires sacrifice." Task Master said.
"Your a hired gun Masters! Once you serve your purpose MODOK will throw you to the wolves!" Cap exclaimed.
In response the two enemies drew their respective weapons and stood to attack. This gave the two Avengers their answers and that was the end of negotiations. The two charged at each other to attack Cap fought the Lieutenant while Iron Man took on Task Master.
Cap clashed with the Lieutenant blocking his electrified Kali stick strikes with his shield and then threw a kick at his opponent which the Lieutenant avoided and tried to strike the super soldier with his electro stick but Cap flipped over him and threw his shield at his opponent.
Meanwhile Iron Man fires his repulsers at Task Master who dodged every single blast using Black Panther like agility then tossed his shield in a Captain America styled way Iron Man knowing Caps fighting style energised his force shield deflecting his shield however Task Master leaped into the air and grabbed onto him wrapping around his head like Black Widow.
"Sorry Masters no free rides!"Suddenly Iron Man raised his repulsers and fired on Task Master knocking him off him and sent crashing to the ground.
Captain America and the Lieutenant clashed as sparks flew from the kali sticks clashing with the vibranium shield, both trying to gain an advantage over the other.
"Your making a big mistake son! The only future MODOK ensures is the extinction of an entire race!" Cap exclaimed with effort.
"If it secures our rightful place in this world then so be it!" The Lieutenant struggled back with effort.
"At what cost?! Even if it means hundreds of non benders the people you wanted to help get caught in the crossfire!" Cap exclaimed as the two pushed each other away and glared down at each other. "I get why your fighting son, but tell me what is it your fighting for?!"
This made the Lieutenant pause for a moment as he looked at himself and his weapons. He was in conflict on the one hand he wanted a more equal life for the non benders of the Republic, but on the other was this really the way to achieve it mass genocide?
Task Master pulled out his guns and fired up his jet pack to face the armoured Avenger. He fired a barrage of bullets towards him but Iron Man swinged to the side and flew above him and fired missiles from his shoulders but Task Master deflected them with his shield then sharpened his clawed gloves and slashed at Iron Man which only succeeded in a massive slash across his chest as his arc lights sparked.
"Yikes you gotta get those nails done Masters." Iron Man joked.
"All jokes Stark how typical but now I'm gonna make this hurt!" Task Master exclaims but before he could attack a sudden blast of energy struck him in the back and he turned around to see Asami flying behind him.
"Really falling for the same trick twice. You sure your a professional?" Asami quipped with her arms crossed.
Masters glared at this new pest and was about to fire his guns at her when she unleashed a powerful repulser blast knocking the gun out of his hand, to then receive a punch from Iron Man right across the face and then another from Asami straight to the ground.
When he got up his mask was cracked in the right eye revealing his true eye. He glared as he saw the two flying heroes above him he was about to get up but was shocked with electricity and he fell unconscious. Compliments of Black Widow.
"Check mate Masters." Widow said standing over the defeated copy cat merc.
The Lieutenant found Task Master had been defeated, he was about to run but then a blast of cut off his escape route and Thor hovered down to the ground with his hammer at the ready, he was surrounded by Asami, Iron Man, Cap and Black Widow. The Captain however raised his arm telling the others to stand down he then looked to the Lieutenant with an honest look.
"Heres your chance to do what's right, I would take it." Cap told him.
The Lieutenant took a moment to think, and then with no hesitation he dropped his weapons to the ground and then removed his mask revealing his true face and let it fall. To then crush it under his foot shortly after.
Suddenly however the room began to shake and out of nowhere the area surrounding the Dark Terrigen core was sealed. "No!" Cap yelled as the core then zoomed up high into the air. The suddenly the Lieutenant felt a nasty electric shock surging through him from an illuminated area on the floor as he fell to the ground. The room was surging with purple energy which told the team one thing.
"MODOK!" Cap realised.
"Treason Lieutenant rather poor timing don't you think!" MODOK's voice echoed around the room. "I must congratulate you Avengers for getting this far! But like everything else I'm afraid it was all in vain my plan is in motion and you can do nothing to stop it!"
"Cap come in!" Just then Hawkeye's voice sounded on the coms it sounded like he was running.
"Hawkeye go ahead." Cap then answered.
Elsewhere:
"I've got the kids we're but Korra's out cold and…and Amon took her bending." Hawkeye reported as he Ms Marvel and Mako with Korra in his arms running down the hallway.
The core:
"No." Asami breathed in horror at the very mention of this news, she wasn't the only one.
"Amon…got her." They turned to see Bolin and Hulk enter the room looking very dismayed it seems they heard everything Hulk clenched his fists in absolute rage as did Thor one thing was certain next time they see Amon, he's a dead man.
Cap took a deep breath in rage and then regained his composure. "Listen MODOK's moved the core to the array he's getting ready to disperse it you've got to get here stat before he does!"
Elsewhere the hallway:
"Copy that Cap!" Hawkeye said through the coms as they continued running through the hallway. "Lets hustle people the clocks ticking!"
Mako and Ms Marvel ran fast to catch up with the archer and just then Korra finally regained consciousness but she was still very weak, and she realised why. "Mako..Kamala." She looked to the two of them very weak. "M…my bending." She said.
"Everything will be all right! We just need to meet up with Cap and the others." Mako said to her.
"Yeah we'll figure something out!" Ms Marvel said with some hope.
They soon arrived at a massive room which did have an observation porthole revealing the sky outside. They looked and saw that the AIM Carrier had ascended beyond the cloud bank and the city below was simply small. Everyone caught a glimpse of the view.
"Wow." Mako breathed in surprise and Korra was just as surprised.
"You know despite the whole end of the world aesthetic. Thats one hell of a view." Hawkeye agreed.
Suddenly the group suddenly writhed in pain causing Mako to drop Korra to the ground as they were flung into the air and then slammed to the ground. Hawkeye, Ms Marvel and Mako looked up to see a very vindictive Amon standing before them.
"A pity it will be the last thing you will ever see!" Amon exclaimed in a vindictive tone.
"Amon!" Korra exclaimed in horror.
"MODOK may've betrayed me but there will be a reckoning and I will destroy him! Right after I rid myself of you and the rest of The Avengers!" Amon yelled.
"You idiot! Look where we are! You seriously think this is the best time for your vendetta right now!?" Hawkeye yelled back while he writhed in pain as Amons grip tightened even further. He then tossed them all around slamming into the walls like some rag dolls.
Amon then drew closer to the three of them, however Mako with all his strength moved his hand into a certain position and when he was close enough Mako was able to strike him with a lightning blast that catapulted him away. This released his grip on them and Hawkeye quickly took advantage and fired one of his arrows from his bow.
Amon got up and was quickly ensnared by Hawkeyes net arrow restraining him long enough for Ms Marvel to leap into action and land a large sized punch ramming him into a wall, she slammed her fists at him again again and again she looked like the Hulk having a tantrum. However before she landed another fist she felt pain in herself as did Mako and Hawkeye and suddenly they were flung into a wall. However Mako and Ms Marvel were pulled to the front much to Korra's horror Amon emerged from the smoke.
His mask was cracked and his clothing torn but he maintained his psychic Blood bending grip on the both of them.
"I'm impressed." Amon admitted. "No one has ever gotten the better of me like that." He then blood bent the two of them to the floor while keeping Hawkeye restrained in his grip on the wall all while a powerless Korra could only watch.
"It is almost a shame to take the bending of someone so talented." He said bending Mako's head upwards as he did Ms Marvel. "Almost. I told you before Ms Marvel you are a perversion who has interfered with my affairs for far too long, and now you will pay the price!"
Korra looked up and saw in horror that Amon was readying to take away Ms Marvels bending but seeing how she was a bender she had no idea what effect Amons Bloodbending might have it could kill her. She saw Mako was helpless and was next to receive this fate. Then suddenly something clicked.
With every ounce of strength she had she got up. "NO!" Korra punched the very air and then suddenly it became a blast of air heading straight for Amon blasting him, Mako and Ms Marvel to the floor the two of them stopped and held the ground and looked completely shocked.
Hawkeye fell from the wall and just couldn't believe what he had seen. Amon skidded along the ground and looked in disbelief for the first time in his life he was completely stunned.
"I…Impossible!" He breathed.
Ms Marvel and Mako looked to Korra in complete shock while she herself looked shocked. "Korra…d…did you just.." Ms Marvel said in partial shock and amazement. It finally clicked.
Korra was still reeling from the shock as well. "I - I can airbend?" She said confused and then she realised it as her strength returned. "I can airbend!" She yelled.
Hawkeye got up with a proud smirk on his face. "Alright." he smirked. With her new found bending she wasted no time throwing air blast after Airblast at Amon who was pelted again and again.
"Yeah get him Korra!" Ms Marvel cheered. Korra fired another air blast at Amon which he tried to block only for him to be catapulted into a wall below another observation port.
Amon breathed heavily growling glaring at the Avatar before she could attack he held his hand out re-establishing his bloodbening grip on her so she couldn't tried to fight it but he was much stronger than Tarrlok ever was.
"I don't know how you managed that but I will not make that mistake a…." Before he could finish that a blast of thunder struck him and sent him flying across the room to the ground.
Amon turned and saw the responsible party was Thor, accompanied by all of the other Avengers, Bolin and Asami who all glared at him. "Amon. We would hath words with thee!" Thor pointed his hammer at the Equalist leader.
"Avengers. TAKE HIM DOWN!" Cap ordered. So the Avengers attacked.
Amon tried to blood bend them but Widow rushed in first and performed several nerve strikes on his arm. She had just chi blocked him. He loss all sensation in his right arm.
"You really shouldn't have let your boys teach me chi blocking your not gonna be bending for quite a while!" Widow smirked.
"Which makes it easier for me to do this!" Hawkeye swung his fist and punched Amon right in the face which was soon followed by Iron Man blasting him with a repulser blast and right into the swinging fist of Asami then she kneed him in the gut before throwing another punch at his cracked mask.
"Thats for what you did to my father you son of a bitch!" Asami yelled.
"Shall we give them a hand?" Mako then asked Ms Marvel from their position on the floor.
"Thought you'd never ask!" Ms Marvel leaped from the floor, shrunk down and in seconds regrew and was now fully emerged in her super suit.
Amon tried to fight back with his own agility only for Cap to swing his shield and hit Amon right in the gut and Mako swing kicked the shield hitting him right in the back. Bolin then charged in and threw a swift upper cut catapulting Amon into the air. Followed by the Hulk grabbing him by the leg and slammed him into the floor again and again before throwing him across the room.
"FOR MIDGARD!" Thor charged and swung his thunder charged hammer crashing right into Amon's face and sent him soaring into the air. Korra and Ms Marvel looked at the scene.
"You want this one?" Ms Marvel asked her friend.
"I think we both earned it." Korra smirked as the two leaped into the air with her air bending. Amon looked up to see the two woman with their fists both normal and large pulled back and in one swift motion.
"EMBIGGEN!" They both yelled and landed a solid punch in Amons face and sent him crashing down to the ground with a bang! The Equalist leader groaned as he got up, he was beaten and battered and his mask nearly fully cracked. He looked up to all of his enemies glaring down on him as Hawkeye trained an arrow on him.
"There we go again shattering expectations." Hawkeye smirked.
"Its over Amon. Surrender." Captain America told you.
"No…" Amon groaned as he struggled to get back on his feet. "I…I will never surrender to the likes of you…I will bring Equality to this city one way or another!"
"Enough Amon!" Korra said. "Look around you! You honestly think this madness will bring Equality, you may've had honest intentions but all its done is devastated the balance of the republic, just like Yakone wanted."
"Don't say that name! My father abused his power over me and my brother! When I saw what we were capable of I saw the source of the worlds conflict and sought to end it MODOK corrupted it!" Amon exclaimed.
"You fool yourself with your own lies Noatak." Thor then spoke. "you corrupted your revolution, blinded by your anger and ambition you and your brother may've had your own agendas but in reality you were fulfilling the purpose your father forced on the two of you!"
"Equality doesn't mean everyone should be the same Amon, its how they should be treated and I've seen what happens when people who think they know what's best try to punish those who should act like or look like us and we're not about to let history repeat itself." Cap then spoke.
Amon just scoffed at those words. "You are the fools clinging to the foolish ideals of the past when it is already written. Benders and Non Benders will never coexist!"
"I don't think you and your brother ever left the past behind Amon, and thats part of the problem." Cap then said just as Ms Marvel stepped forwards.
"Please Amon, there's a better way for people to have equal rights in the United Republic, but removing the benders isn't the answer!" She tried. "You've got to let go of that stuff from the past it just doesn't matter. The only thing that matters is who you choose to be now."
The leader of the Equalists was silent with his head hung low and caught his breath from that beating. "Y..your right…and I choose…." Suddenly he glared at them all. "THIS!"
All of the Avengers, Asami, Bolin, Mako and Korra were all writhing in pain as Amon had regained his bending and was blood bending them all on the spot. Hulk tried his hardest to fight the grip but could feel Amon was stronger than his brother was. Thor tried to reach for his hammer but he couldn't. However Korra fought back with all her strength struggling in pain to resist his hold.
"No ... you ... don't!" Korra put all her strength and unleashed an air blast infused kick slamming into Amon and blasted him clean out of the window behind him, as he fell his mask fell off as he fell into the clouds below. The explosive decompression in the room tried to suck all the Avengers and benders out. Iron Man grabbed Asami's hand to stop her from falling out the window.
An alert sounded around the whole carrier. "WARNING HULL BREACH SEALING HATCH OMEGA" The computer sounded and the breached porthole was sealed behind a metal hatch.
Everyone hit the ground with a thud and regained their breath. "Well…thats certainly one way to go." Iron Man mused.
Bolin then turned to Korra and addressed the obvious elephant in the room. "Korra you can airbend!"
"I know, weird right?" Korra said smiling in relief.
"Hey uh, we're sure waterbenders can survive a fall from this height right?" Ms Marvel wondered as Widow helped her to her feet.
"There's water below he'll be fine." Black Widow said to her.
"Aye." Thor agreed as they then looked forwards. "Now we finish this!"
Central Control:
The door to the central control room was blasted open by a blast of thunder, and rolling out from the smoke was Black Widow, Hawkeye and Asami armed with her repulsers as the other Avengers and Benders stepped into the room.
"Where's MODOK?" Mako asked as they all scanned the room.
"Oh please tell me he turned tail and ran away." Bolin hoped.
"That kind of luck we haven't been getting much of lately kid." Hulk the room lit up with purple energy and the main screen turned on to reveal MODOK himself close to the main dispersement array.
"A well chosen word monster." MODOK Said sneering. "It does fill me with somewhat sick joy to see you all assembled here before me again, but your presence will not change what will happen."
"MODOK Stop this this isn't making the world better its genocide!" Korra told him.
"No its logic, I learned a long time ago that power cannot be controlled it needs to be destroyed and the very architect of its destruction will be the very thing that created the Inhumans!" MODOK exclaimed.
"Even if innocent people get caught in the crossfire!" Korra exclaimed.
"A necessary sacrifice that will be remembered Avatar!" MODOK Sneered in response Korra yelled and punched the screen shattering it and destroying the link.
"A typical response to those who don't know what's best for them." MODOK's voice sounded around the base as the purple energy surged. "But why don't I give you a front row seat at what's to come."
Suddenly the rear wall rumbled taking everyone completely by surprise and before them was the dispersant array which was now surging with power at the antenna scattered around the carrier. In the centre was the main tower and emerging from it was the Dark Terrigen core. The machine began charging and dark mist began gathering around the towers.
"So..I'm guessing thats how they're spreading the Dark Terrigen wave." Ms Marvel realised.
"You guessed right kid." Widow said. "If that wave is unleashed it'll kill billions."
"MODOK must be controlling the array himself." Iron Man realised. "Just like the war ships he launched out of San Francisco the first time."
"But how that would take a lot of power to control it." Asami wondered.
"Its the gem in his head Asami, its not just for show its a control node its how he was able to control those Adaptoids on the way in, not to mention speak through them." Iron Man explained.
"So how do we stop him?!" Bolin asked.
"We go to the source and shut him down!" Cap answered.
"But there's no earth or rocks for me to bend?!" Bolin reminded "and I'm not a Metal Bender so I won't be of much use."
"Don't say that Bolin, you're a great fighter this is just like at the Pro bending arena we're a team and we get through this together." Mako reminded his brother.
"Yeah and you practically piloted that mech and helped me smash this place." Hulk reminded too.
It was then Bolin realised he was good in a fight with or without his bending. "Oh yeah I guess I did." He said with confidence.
"Alright then lets shut that big head down!" Mako hit his fist into his palm.
"Mako, Korra, Asami, Bolin." Cap then spoke up to the members of Team Avatar. "Listen, once we go out there there's no turning back, and I can't garuntee if we'll make it out alive. Are you sure you want to do this?" He then asked them.
Korra, Mako, Asami and Bolin stood together and looked at each other, each of them bearing the same determined look. "We're sure Cap." Korra answered.
"No way we're turning back now." Mako said determined.
"Lets show mr big head what happens when he messes with Republic City." Bolin said pumped for action.
"We're with you guys all the way no matter what." Asami agreed.
Cap and the other Avengers looked to these determined kids and how they were willing to see this through to the end. Ms Marvel smiled with pride at her friends as Hulk placed his hand on her shoulder and had a proud look seeing she had chosen her friends well. The look he had in his eyes told Ms Marvel, that Bruce was seeing it too.
"Alright then lets do it!" Cap said and so without another word Hulk smashed down the wall showing them the array and everyone leaped out of it and onto the hovering platforms and onto another while, Iron Man, Thor and Asami flew towards the centre of the array.
Hulk smashes down the wall that eventually opened their way to the centre of the array. The core was surrounded by a large open pit cycling with energy conduits channeling the power required to disperse the wave. The other Avengers landed in the area.
"Man it looks even bigger up close." Bolin said amazed.
"This is where Tarletons transmitting from but where is he?" Hawkeye wondered. Suddenly their answer came in the form of a laser blast which was drawn in the ground Hawkeye and Bolin stepped away shocked. They look up and saw hovering down to them, was MODOK himself with his weaponised chair and claws trained on them.
"There he is." Hawkeye cringed.
"SO HERE WE ARE!" MODOK proclaimed. "ALL OF US REUNITED FOR THE END, BUT ONCE AGAIN AVENGERS YOU THINK TO STAND IN THE WAY OF PROGRESS, STAND IN THE WAY OF WHAT BE DONE TO ENSURE HUMANITIES FUTURE."
"Ugh he's even uglier up close." Asami cringed.
"Yeah he really should get some work done." Iron Man agreed in a joking manner.
"YOU THINK TO SLOW ME DOWN I HAVE ENOUGH MIST TO PURGE INHUMANITY ON NOT JUST THIS WORLD BUT TWO! IT IS ENOUGH TO BLANKET THE WORLD!" MODOK Exclaimed. "THE AGE OF HEROES AND SUPERPOWERED IS OVER!"
"Don't count us out yet, we will stop you! You threaten the balance of not one but two worlds and I'll be damned if I let that happen!" Korra spoke up.
MODOK simply cackled in amusement. "And you think you can stop me! I know Amon took your bending you have no power your no longer the Avatar so how can you possibly hope to stop me!"
This did put the seed of doubt in Korra's mind, course MODOK didn't know about a certain new trick of hers. However she couldn't help but wonder if she had really lost the right to be the Avatar. Just then in that moment she felt a hand on hers and looked to see Ms Marvel giving her a confident smile then she saw Mako giving her that same smile. She began to develop that same confident smile too.
"Well." She began. "Like the old man said." She looked toe Captain America who smiled with pride towards her and she looked back at MODOK. "Together!"
The Hulk gave a defiant roar as the other Avengers and members of Team Avatar stood ready to fight. MODOK However readied his armaments ready to destroy his enemies once and for all. However before he attacked a blast of air struck him in the head knocking him away he looked at the source as did everyone else.
They saw a gust of wind flying down and as it struck the ground it revealed Tenzin and Lin who was still armed with Widows pistols. "Tenzin! Lin!" Korra said amazed.
"Like I would miss this." Lin smirked. "Besides I still got a score to settle with that thing for what he did to my men!"
"Today the Avatar and her friends don't stand alone!" Tenzin agreed as the two of them stood with Team Avatar and the Avengers ready to fight for their city. Ms Marvel then had an awesome idea pop into her head.
She tapped on Korra's shoulder to get her attention then whispered in her ear. She beamed liking what her friend was suggesting. She then turned to Captain America.
"Hey Cap." She said getting his attention. "Mind if I say it?" Cap wondered what she meant but when he looked to Ms Marvel giving an encouraging thumbs up he soon got the message.
"Go for it." Cap nodded. MODOK floated over them more enraged as the gem in his head glowed brighter than ever and his armaments were armed targeting the heroes. Korra stepped forwards not intimidated and she only had something to say.
"AVENGERS!" She yelled and as all the Avengers and Team Avatar members readied their respective weapons, powers and bending there was only one last word Korra had to say, so as all went quiet.
"ASSEMBLE!"
The battle cry was sounded and the Avengers along with Team Avatar charged into battle and MODOK yelled in fury blasting straight towards them with a flurry of arial robots and mecha Tanks charging in from , Thor and Iron Man flew above the team while Korra and Tenzin hovered with their air bending and Ms Marvel enlarged her fists and legs running along side the Hulk, Black Widow, Hawkeye, Lin and Captain America. Both sides clashed as the fate of Republic City and the fate of two worlds was to be decided here. The final battle had begun.

Authors notes: BOOM! Now how's that! Korra now has Airbending and the Avengers and the rest of Team Avatar are now ready to turn the tides against MODOK. I felt for the Liutenent he should have a moment of crisis, it was obvious he'd chosen to take on Amons cause because he wanted to make a better life for the Non Benders of Republic City, but I decided that he should realise that the means to do so had gone too far especially where MODOK's concerned. Also Amon getting the much deserved beatdown he deserves before he's airblasted out of the AIM Carrier. Don't worry folks we'll be seeing him again later.
For now the final battle and the fate of two worlds has begun, only one side can triumph no matter what must be sacrificed. Whatever it takes See you for the final part of this clash of titans! Then we just have an epilogue to do and maybe a surprise as well!
