Nikolas was entering the living room with a mug of coffee in one hand and a file of paperwork in the other when Giles the butler came and stood in the doorway.
"Ms. Gia Campbell to see you, sir," The butler announced.
Nikolas sighed, getting a sinking feeling that any goodwill that he had with Gia was now completely gone. Most likely, Gia was going to blame him for what happened between Spencer and Trina.
"Let her in Giles," Nikolas nodded, preparing himself for the coming confrontation.
He stayed on his feet as Gia marched in and right up to him and slapped him hard across the face.
"Ow! What was that for?!" Nikolas stared at Gia in outraged disbelief! Seriously, he forgot how fiery this woman could be!
"Trina would never forgive me if I raised a hand to that son of yours, so I'm slapping you instead you...you...stupid Cassadine!" Gia ranted, her brown eyes bright with anger.
"Ok, Sparky. You blame me for whatever had happened between my son and your niece, but how is it my fault? I didn't do anything!"
"That's just it! You didn't do anything! You didn't notice your son spiraling and now my poor Trina is paying for it! She won't come out of her room, heck, she won't get out of bed! She is just lying there crying, wondering why all the men she loves are pushing her away! First my lovely yet stupid brother, and now Spencer, the man she loves more than anything in life! Do you know what it's like to be a young girl in love like that? To be so consumed that...ugh!"
"This isn't easy for Spencer as well. He hasn't come out of his room, he won't talk to any of us, except to tell me that this family is cursed! I don't know what happened and he won't tell me! He's shutting himself off from everyone...even Ace! I don't know what to do!"
"Get him professional help! That's what you do! I mean...god is this hereditary? I remember when you had pushed me away like that...and I had tried so hard to move on…"
"But I couldn't let you go," Nikolas smirked at the memory. "I was so in love with you back then, Gia...even though I feel like it's different with Spencer and Trina. He's tearing out his own heart to keep her safe. Safe from what, I don't know."
"Well, he's tearing out her heart as well. This needs to be fixed, Nikolas! I can't allow Trina to go on hurting like this! She needs Spencer more than ever right now! The fact that he's pushing her away a the same time that Taggert is pulling his crap...it's killing her!"
Nikolas sighed and sat down, running a hand through his hair. "What can we do?"
"I don't know. But being away from each other will most likely do more harm than good."
"You're right there...wait...Maybe I have an idea…"
Gia frowned, looking at Nikolas with hesitant eyes. Sometimes Nikolas's ideas weren't always the best. "What? It better be good."
"Spencer needs to see for himself that he's not a danger to Trina. That the Cassadines aren't going to turn around and hurt her. That there is no fucking curse! But the only way for him to see that is if he and Trina are under the same roof…"
"Which they are not right now, may I remind you!"
"I know, I know. Well, Spencer moved out of their wing. He said it was haunted by Trina's presence…"
"That's so gothic! Really?!"
"We're a gothic crew, us Cassadines," Nikolas gave a wry smile. "Anyway, listen. What about you and Trina move back into that wing. There's a guest room there. Make it known to Spencer that Trina's not going anywhere, perceived danger or not. He loves her so much...he won't be able to help himself. He won't be able to stay away from her."
"Just like you weren't able to stay away from me, huh?"
"Exactly."
"And why must I move in with her, huh?" Gia folded her arms, eyeing Nikolas knowingly. He wanted her. That had been obvious to Gia the moment Nikolas had revealed himself. She had to admit, it excited her to be so desired, but she didn't know if she wanted to take him back just yet.
"To keep her company, of course. What do you say, Gia? Good idea?"
"It could work. Just let me go home and talk to Trina. If we show up here, you know that I got her to agree."
"And if she doesn't?"
"We think of another plan," Gia got to her feet. She looked at Nikolas, feeling a little bit more friendlier than she did when she had first arrived. "We'll get them back together."
"I hope so. Like I said, I'm not going to sit here and allow Spencer to lose the love of his life."
"You're a good dad, Nikolas. It didn't seem like it at first, but I see how seeing your son in pain is hurting you. How you're willing to do anything to make it right for him."
"I'd give him up if it'd make this right for him," Nikolas admitted.
"And that's what he's trying to do for Trina, which is the wrong thing to do. So don't you go doing the same!"
Nikolas just chuckled. "Don't worry! I am going nowhere. Especially now."
"Especially now. This is your chance to prove to Spencer that you're here for him. Point, blank, period."
"Right," Nikolas nodded, taking the advice that was being freely given.
"Right. I'll be in touch," Gia smiled before heading for the exit, leaving Nikolas alone, a small smile on his face. Gia was softening up towards him. That was a very good thing.
…..
It was two hours since her Aunt Gia had gone out, leaving her to her own thoughts. Trina stood up and went to the full-length mirror that was next to the closet. To be honest, she looked like total crap. Her hair was a mess, she had bags under her eyes and her coloring was off. Of course, she could blame that all on her broken heart right now. Or maybe it was time for her cycle and this was all PMS.
She frowned as the thought of her cycle crossed her mind because she didn't think she had it yet and it was way past time. In fact, she should be coming off of it right about now! Maybe it was stress. She heard that could cause a woman to skip, right? She had been such an emotional mess lately, between her dad pulling away and now Spencer...but all of that was recent! Of course, there was the fight with Joss, but that wasn't bad enough for such a physical reaction...was it?
Oh god, what if...but she couldn't be! Not right now! Not when things were so bad! But what if she was?
Her heart sank right into her stomach as the idea took hold This couldn't be happening! Not right now! Not when she didn't even know if she still had a marriage! This was the worst possible time!
Yet, it'd make perfect sense, because where had that thought of a baby Ace of their own came from, right out of the blue?
"Trina, I'm back!" Gia announced coming through the door.
On quaking legs, Trina came into the living room, looking at her aunt with wide scared eyes. "Aunt Gia?"
"Oh, I'm glad to see that you're up. We have some things to discuss…," Gia stopped in mid-sentence when she saw the look in Trina's eyes. "What's wrong?"
"I...I think I need a pregnancy test."
