Raiden, the daughter of Ratchet and Rivet from the Ratchet and Clank franchise, has created a team. Joining forces with the sons and daughters of her father's old rivals, Raiden leads her friends on protecting their worlds from certain destruction.

44. Chapter 44: Rath

Rath is a rathalos and Jaxon's pet. He has black and orange skin and red eyes.

Rath was born alongside his sister, Wraith in a nest located on a mountain. After their parents are killed by hunters, Rath and his sister were forced to abandon their nest together. As teens, Rath meets Jaxon after the two are separated from their sisters. Rath gets is nearly eaten by a Khezu and was struggling to free himself. Fortunately, Jaxon shoots and kills the Khezu, freeing the dragon. Rath quickly bonds with Jaxon and helps him return to his team, bring the Khezu for food.

Rath is an expert flyer, and as such is prone to hunting from the skies. By launching a surprise aerial attack, he can inflict poisonous wounds with his talons or burn prey with flaming projectiles. On the ground, Rath remains a formidable opponent. Using his powerful legs, he can chase down prey from a distance or inflict blunt-force damage with his clubbed tail. At a close enough range, he is known to use his sharp teeth to bite at foes as well. Rath likes to stay in the air and launch a "few" fireballs before landing back to the ground.

Rath is shown to be intelligent and curious, as he was as intrigued about Jaxon. His intelligence is also shown when he recognizes the sound of Jaxon's whistles as a way of summoning him to the boy's location and recognizing the Rangers as allies. He also recognized those related to his rider, like recognizing Kaela as Jaxon's sister. Like his rider, Rath is compassionate and understanding towards others, allowing him to make quick friends with the other animals in the group. Despite being good-natured, he can be controlling, as he wanted a reluctant Jaxon to eat his share of the fish the dragon was offering him and wouldn't hesitate to resort to threatened aggression to force him to. Rath is also protective and brave, as he willing to dive into danger to protect Jaxon and his other companions. Like most dragons, Rath loves fish, and his diet consists mostly of it.
