Chapter 10: Sky Desert Disaster.

"Go on Cobalt! Use Force Palm!"

His Riolu barked as it charged towards the wild graveler and blasted it back.

Koril town had been, for the most part, completely uneventful, apart from helping a club of scientists cleanup a mess of revived fossil experimentation gone wrong. Nothing eventful had really happened, so, after restocking on supplies and healing, he continued into the Rezzai Desert to continue to Helios.

As the wild Graveler collapsed onto the ground, Cobalt's body began to grow and expand as blue light flashed around him. The small Riolu grew in size as a few spikes and four dreads grew into his body. Cobalt emerged from the light with a howl as Moon grinned, satisfied with the resulting evolution.

As he returned Cobalt and made his way through the middle cavern, he was suddenly stopped as he turned a corner and quickly retreated back, spying a group of 6 people who looked like cultists

Each of them had wildly weird hair colors, ranging from red to purple, and they were all clad in royal green robes with gold coloring in the symbols of an S.

Moon waited patiently, before he heard an explosion, and then some talking.

"What a royal load of shit, good thing the threat of his family was enough to get him to fork over this scroll." he heard what sounded like a man said. "I mean…how in the everloving hell did a random kid come across the Scroll of Dragon Ascension."

"Doesn't matter," this time a woman. "We got the scroll, and made sure those people weren't going to speak out. Now that we have the power, we can use our blackmail on Jaern to get him to simply give Rayquaza to us."

"What makes you think Jaern is just…going to accept and help us?"

"He'll have no choice, trust me, we've got this."

"I suppose you're right, we took care of the first one, and he was much more threatening than Jaern."

"Alright then, Sky Cult, head out to Helios CIty." Moon heard a whoosh before looking around and seeing nothing.

"That can't be good," he mumbled.

"HEY MOON!" He jumped as he turned and saw Damien approaching him. The boy actually looked a little bit different.

"Oh…hey Damien," he said. "How's it going?"

"Pretty good actually, I actually changed my outfit to better reflect my new partner Shaymin. You see, the red gracidea scarf, dark green sweater vest. Pretty cool right?"

"I…I suppose." Moon replied.

"Alright then, since I just ran into you, how about we have a battle! I wanna see how much better I've gotten before we head to Helios!"

"I uh…I guess." Moon replied.

Once Damien had backed up a little for a battle position, the boy released an Infernape, the fighting bipedal monkey landed on the ground with a kung-fu pose.

"Irwin! Battle Stance!"

The giant Feraligatr jumped out of its Pokeball and braced itself as Infernape gave a cheeky taunt.

"Aqua Tail!"

Irwin's giant tail was surrounded by water as it charged towards Infernape. The kung-fu Monkey's fists were surrounded by electricity as it kicked off the ground towards the giant blue gator.

Irwin ducked under the electrical punch before swiping at the monkey with its hydro surrounded tail. Infernape was flung backwards, however, it quickly caught itself and rebounded back into a fighting position.

Infernape then flexed a little as red light began to surround the kung-fu monkey. It then kicked off the ground at a fast pace and unleashed a barrage of punches at the giant blue gator. Irwin put its claws up, seemingly in a defensive position, before Infernape unleashed a fiery kick to finish its close combat and pushed the gator back.

Irwin growled as he spun around, a dragon wave of light appeared around him, before he surrounded himself with water and charged at Infernape once again, The monkey surrounded its fists with electricity before going at Irwin as well, the two fully evolved starters collided with one another.

Dust swirled around, and, upon clearing, Infernape fell to the ground and stopped moving.

Damien looked disappointed as he returned the monkey to its poke ball. He then let out his next Pokemon, a giant blue and black lynx with lightning bolts etched into its fur.

The Luxray growled before pouncing at Irwin as its fangs were surrounded by electricity, the lynx bit down on Irwin's tail, and shocked the alligator, Irwin collapsed on the ground of the cave and stopped moving.

Moon returned Irwin, before analyzing.

"Sahara, battle stance!"

The delta Grimer emerged from its pokeball, before it started glowing. When the light faded, Sahara looked more or less the same, just a lot wider in sand. As she opened her mouth to let out a cry, Moon could spot a Horsea lodged into her mouth.

Luxray growled as its fangs were surrounded by ice as it went to pounce on Sahara. The delta Muk sank into the floor of the cave as Luxray landed where she placed herself. Sahara then emerged from behind Luxray and shot a few blobs of mud at it. Luxray was pushed back by the balls of mud as it skidded to a halt in front of Damien.

Sahara's mouth opened as a few bubbles of water shot from the Horsea's mouth. The bubbles exploded more sand on Luxray's face, getting a bit of sand in its eyes.

The lynx's fangs grew as ice surrounded them again. Before it recklessly charged with its eyes clenched shut. Saraha simply slid down to the side, dodging the attack, then forcefully smashed its hand on the ground as an earthquake began to form. A big shake of the ground emerged as a crack blew Luxray into the cave's ceiling. The lynx fell to the ground and stopped moving.

Damien returned the Lynx before letting out a giant crab with pincers, the Crawdaunt landed on the ground and honed its pincers.

Sahara was called back as Moon looked at his pokeball.

"Weiss, battle stance!"

The yellow and white Gardevoir emerged from her pokeball and leered the angry looking crab down.

Crawdaunt's pincers glowed purple, as it strived towards Weiss. The delta Gardevior's body glowed as two copies of her split into reality. She quickly launched three thunderbolts at the lobster. Crawdaunt quickly dodged the attack by surrounding its legs with water and moving out of the way.

Crawdaunt then smashed its crabhammer against one of the copies, however, it struck wrong as the Weiss vanished.

The second copy vanished as well as before she launched another thunderbolt against the lobster. Crawdaunt's body flashed as its shell became much harder looking. The bolt of thunder struck the lobster, however, it looked rather unscathed.

Crawdaunt's body surrounded itself with water as it charged towards Weiss. The delta Gardevoir once again flashed its body as she separated herself into thirds. Crawdaunt missed its mark as it vanished upon being struck.

Weiss then fired another thunderbolt from her hands, blasting Crawdaunt back, the lobster fell to the ground and stopped moving.

Damien returned Crawdaunt to its ball before. Calling out his next pokemon, one that Moon was taken aback by.

A giant steel UFO with four arms, with a blue x across its face landed on the ground with a smash.

"Pretty cool huh?" Damien asked.

Moon just blinked in concern, before he called Weiss back to her pokeball.

"Okay, Skyblazer! Battle Stance!"

The Delta Pidgeot flew out of its pokeball and perched itself on a rock nearby.

Metagross quickly flew towards Skyblazer as its steel arms blasted with a rapid fire amount of punches. Skyblazer took two before swooping up and dodging the remaining one. Her wings flapped a little as she let out a pulse of dark purple energy.

Metagross was blasted backwards by the harsh amount of dark energy and skidded to a halt. The metal pseudo punched the ground and lifted a rock into the sky before smacking it towards the cockatrice. Skyblazer swooped down and smacked Metagross with her snake tail, clawing at the metal creature. Once again, the pseudo legendary looked unphased.

Metagross lifted its arm and smashed it down like a hammer. Crushing Skyblazer to the ground before it lifted itself up.

"Roost!"

Skyblazer shed a few feathers as Metagross prepared for another hammer arm. Just before it could smash the arm into the ground, the cockatrice quickly flapped away as she avoided the hammer arm.

"Foul Play!"

Skyblazer's eyes glowed red as she charged at Metagross, she quickly slammed into the forehead X of the pseudo legendary and swiped her wing. That seemed to do the trick as the pseudo legendary collapsed.

Damien frowned in disappointment as he returned Metagross to its pokeball.

"Alright…" Moon watched as Damien suddenly looked confused.

"Something wrong?" he asked.

"Yeah…I'll make this quick, Shaymin says it senses something you wanted to say to me. So I'll make this one the last one."

Damien let out his final Pokemon, Moon was taken aback as the Delta Blastoise landed on the ground.

Much like its previous forms. The blastoise had gone all in on a ninja motif. It was black, gray, and purple, with two large white spikes growing out of its shell. The red headband tied around its head above its faded pupiless eyes tightly wrapped around its head.

"You want to keep going Skyblazer?" Moon asked. The Delta Pidgeot hooted in response.

"Alright then, use Roost!"

Skyblazer perched itself on a rock and shedded a few more feathers.

Delta Blastoise quickly retreated into its shell and fired a dark beam of light. Skyblazer finished roosting and quickly soared off as the rock was smashed to bits by the dark light.

The cockatrice soared above the ninja turtle before soaring down and attacking the turtle with its wings. Delta Blastoise took the attack okay, before it spun around, retreating into its shell.

Delta Blastoise reemerged from its shell and fired an aura sphere from its arms. Skyblazer flapped her wings and summoned a twister that spun the Aura Sphere out of target, however, the sphere of blue light quickly redirected itself and blew up in the cockatrice's face. Skyblazer quickly recovered before she slammed into the ground.

Delta Blastoise gave Moon a bit of an evil looking smirk as a yellow exclamation point emerged above its head. A bunch of red light surrounded the delta starter before it began to charge up another Aura Sphere.

"Brave Bird!"

Skyblazer let out a cry as she surrounded herself with fire, The aura sphere launched by the Delta starter continued to home in as she made her way towards Blastoise. Just as the sphere made contact, Skyblazer collided with the Delta starter and a massive explosion took its place.

As the smoke cleared, both Delta pokemon were on the ground, unable to battle.

"Ugh…I keep losing." Damien sighed as he returned his Delta Blastoise to its pokeball.

"So…uh…Shaymin told me you wanted to tell me something? What's up?"

When he had finished explaining to the boy what he had heard the sky cult talk about. The boy's eyes widened in concern.

"That's not good Moon! The sky cult is no joke! They're the ones who got rid of the first augur! They could absolutely do it again! We'll have to warn Jaern as soon as possible!"

Moon nodded in agreement.

"Hopefully the Gym leader of Helios, East, can hold off the sky cult from getting to the Augur, the Sky cult will be much more aggressive since Jaern has access to Rayquaza. I wouldn't be surprised if their leader makes an appearance this time!"

As Moon sat waiting in the Pokemon center in Roggan town he was suddenly approached by an older man.

"Excuse me, young man." the man said. "I couldn't help but notice, do you happen to be a Pokemon trainer?"

"I am indeed." Moon replied.

"Ah, excellent. I'd like to give this to you." the man handed him a pokeball. "You see, I caught this little critter a while back, and have been raising it. Unfortunately, now that my wife is getting ready to have our child, she doesn't trust the poor thing. I know its been wanting an itch to battle for a while, but I hope you can give it a life it wanted."

"Um...okay..." Moon replied. When the man walked off, he curiously let the Pokemon out.

The Pokemon in question appeared to resemble Emolga. Kind of? Moon was only reminded of it thanks to the squirrel like features on it. This Delta Emolga was in no way flying, but it had a large bushy tail, it was covered head to toe in black and red fur with little round ears perched at the top of its head.

"Molga!" The squirell yawned.

Moon curiously took out his pokedex and scanned the Pokemon.

Emolga (Delta Species)

The Fire Squirrel Pokemon

Type: Dark and Fire

Abilities: Flash Fire or Blaze Boost (When using a fire attack Emolga will power up both of its attacking stats and its speed stats while transforming into Blaze Form, any moves that make contact with it in this form have a chance to burn).

Known Moves: Will-O-Wisp, Lava Plume, Dark Pulse, Nasty Plot, Encore, Sunny Day, Wood Hammer, and Mystical Fire

Additional Info: A delta species similar to the Pokemon Emolga, discovered by EchoTheThird. On cold nights, this delta Pokemon will spit hot embers on their tails and feet to ignite them. The ensuing blaze can be seen for miles. We recommend keeping it away from Children not of age to be a Pokemon trainer.

"Well then...welcome aboard I guess." Moon returned the delta Emolga to its Pokeball as he heard the dinging letting him know it was time to get a move on to Helios to warn the Second Augur.

That's all for today's chapter. Two evolutions, a battle with Damien, and your first look at the Sky Cult. You're first introduced to them in a scene where they encounter the father of the children who find the scroll to summon Rayquaza. They basically threaten him until he gives up the scroll, and then they just casually cave the man and his family in the mines of the cave.

Don't know why they do that, they were clearly out in the open and there are even a few NPC trainers in this cave, but hey, Pokemon logic can't solve them all, and unlike other regions, I can completely understand why NPCs wouldn't want to do something about these insane fuckers in the cults. Since its well established they aren't afraid to kill.

Not much else to say. I know that Delta Emolga looks interesting, and honestly, I'm actually giving it to Moon early. You actually don't get the Emolga from the man until you backtrack to Roggan town after I believe the 7th gym. Where he'll give you the Emolga at level 50. It may look interesting, but Blaze Boost is the thing's hidden ability, which you can't get until the post-game, and... it's Emolga...even if you're somehow still hard pressed for a Fire type at this point in the game, trust me when I say there are still better options.

I've used it myself a few times, but its fustratingly weak, especially this late into Insurgence where trainers will have Pokemon well in their late 80s. Much like my review for Delta Quagsire, interesting idea...but held back by needing to share the same stats as its counterpart. So I might as well hand it to Moon now to use in like...one or two battles before it takes a back seat.

Anyway, that's all for today's chapter, if you have any thoughts, feel free to let me know, and I'll see you all, next time.
