Chapter 33
Good news
"Won't you tell me anything?"
Mom wanted to hear from my own voice what she knew.
Without taking my eyes off her, I took a sip of the coffee she had prepared for me. I liked coming to visit and talk to her.
"We're back," I revealed. "Bells and I are back together."
Mom's smile was wide. She didn't resist and stood up, hugging me by the shoulders and leaving several kisses on my cheeks. She was treating me like a kid.
I couldn't ask her to stop, she was my mother, and she was celebrating my happiness.
"I knew it would happen sooner or later" she commented. "I have seen your looks and I couldn't be wrong, there is love between you. Neither of you can be discreet while there is so much passion."
"Mom" I complained. "It's embarrassing what you say."
"But it's true, how has chickie taken it?"
"He's fine. He's happy, especially since we're going on vacation."
"I'm so glad, Edward. Where are you traveling to? When?"
"To the Dominican Republic, it's this weekend, we'll be there for two weeks. Everything's all set."
She hugged me again with so much love.
We were hugging, talking about all the good news that was happening. At that moment we heard the front door, Alice had arrived and was coming with Jasper, her husband.
I greeted him with a handshake. He was a nice guy, I had respect for him for putting up with my sister who was the hardest person to deal with.
"It's good to see you, Edward," Jasper commented. "Let's see what day we can get together to play pool."
"Maybe one day." It was actually awkward that because of my sister, her husband and I didn't trust each other very much.
"How long will you not talk to me?" Alice asked in that teasing tone. "Edward, stop acting like a sulky little boy, just get over it."
"I'm not getting over anything. Because this isn't about getting over it, it's about respect. I'm asking for respect for my family, especially Bells."
She rolled her eyes.
I had nothing to talk to her about, Alice wouldn't change because she was an immature twenty-seven-year-old woman trapped in a fifteen-year-old teenager.
I said goodbye to my mother and Jasper. To Mom I promised to come back when we returned from our trip, of course hearing my words my sister was expectant and very interested to know. She will surely question Mom about my life.
She was my sister. There was affection between us, and I could assure that we had a good sibling relationship at one time, Maybe that was before we both chose our paths and she decided to envy Bells.
I hoped she would change her ways. Maybe when she matures or becomes a mother she might be a totally different woman to engage in healthy conversation with, in the meantime it was preferable to avoid her.
I wished her well.

We had not been together for a long time.
We took advantage of leaving the office at the same time and decided to have dinner together.
The atmosphere was different from those times when I felt unhappy, now I was happy laughing at every idiotic thing Jacob said.
"Believe me," he told us, "that girl is different from all the girls I have dated. Vanessa has a different aura, and she emanates peace when I am near her, I feel weird when we are together. That's exactly why I stayed away. I haven't wanted to answer her messages."
Sam and I exchanged glances before we started laughing. Jacob was thirty-two and the most unstable guy to fall in love with. He preferred to run away; it was always the same with him. I really wondered when he would fall in love.
"Well," said Sam leaving Jacob's topic alone "yesterday they told us that the baby we are expecting is a girl, so very soon we will have the couple at home.
"Congratulations," I congratulated him, still running my fingers through my glass of water.
"Thank you," he said. "By the way, I'm glad you and Bella have solved your problems. You look happier."
I smiled. It was no secret that my mood had completely changed.
"Hey, Edward," Jacob interjected. His joking side had disappeared from his face. "I'm sorry I was an idiot," he said, "I was clinging to you dating one and another when it wasn't what you needed. I never wanted to be a jerk and annoy you, but if you had told me that you still loved Bella I would have helped you to regain her affection, maybe with a serenade."
"I believe you, Jacob," I answered as I stood up. I had to go.
"I assure you that I would have helped you if going back to her was what you needed to leave your bitter face," he added, "I would have brought her to you myself.
Images crossed my mind of Jacob bringing Bells with me, possibly in distress. I thought him capable of that and more.
I shook my head, clearing my thoughts.
"I have to go home, it's my turn to take care of my kids because Bells is going for coffee with Angela."
"Happy vacations," Sam murmured.
"I hope you bring us good news and five of you come back," Jacob joked before drinking from his wine glass.
I gestured as I made my way to the parking lot.
Bells and I could barely get a few hours of sleep with Leo. It wasn't planned for us to bring another child so soon.
We had talked it over and came to an agreement. We were going to wait until Leo was three or maybe four, there was no rush.
Now more than ever we were willing to follow our plans and of course, we were going to realize every fucking dream.
