Waking up took longer for the group at the hotel, Susie and Audrey waking up earlier than the rest, Susie deciding to nudge Kris up, since it was likely Ralsei was already waiting for them, giving how early the Pokemart opened. Kris was annoyed at this, but at least understood the reasoning behind it.
"What are we thinking for breakfast?" Audrey asked, thinking about getting ready and getting going, as there was plenty of stuff to do, such as fighting in the gym, along with just general seeing the sights of the small town, along with maybe training some more, as the town didn't seem too big, though it was bigger than the village that her new trainer came from.
"I mean we could look to see what's there, yeah." Susie replied, checking the room service menu. Things sure seemed expensive compared to the room costs, but Susie was pretty sure that the winnings from the Gym Leader would more than make up for it. She handed the menu to Kris, having them take a look in order to figure out what they wanted. Kris decided on the standard bacon, eggs, and toast. Susie decided to go with the same as Kris, but with sausage instead of bacon, and Audrey went with the child sized stack of pancakes, since she was about the size and weight of a child anyways. This also helped drive down the price some, as they were not paying for a full stack of pancakes.
"Thanks for this by the way." Audrey replied, smiling at Susie.
"You're welcome." Susie replied back. "May as well have something nice, take a break from you know, bonking every other member of that Team Plasma."
Kris and Audrey both nodded.
"So, what to do in the meantime?" Susie asked. "Not much to do in the meantime, could put on the TV at least."
Kris shrugged.
"I mean could see what's on the news." Audrey replied.
Susie had decided to turn on the TV, which just so happened to have the regional TV news station on. Unova's outer villages here weren't that large, and none of them were quite big enough to justify their own local station, though there was a radio station, WSWU, which cities shared station time over, each of the three village having a 3 hour block, one for the rural region, and a 12 hour block for Nacrene City, significantly larger than any other village in the subregion. It was reporting on an uptick in Team Plasma attacks, noting the one they had defended against earlier, but not having any people there due to being a larger station and being busy overall. It appeared as if this move was region-wide, but the investigators of Unova hadn't quite figured out why at the moment.
"Well I guess that means we get to like beat some more up? You seemed pretty excited for that." Audrey said. Susie nodded, giving the Audino a pat on the head.
Susie nodded. "Do like getting physical. Plus like these guys seem like total assholes anyways."
"You can say that again."Audrey replied.
While they were chatting, a knock on the door was heard, Kris answering and retrieving the breakfast for the trio. They shrugged when asked whether they should eat it here or wait until they had arrived to meet up with the rest of the group.
"We have more time really now that I think about it." Susie noted. "I mean i'm sure the place isn't too busy early anyways."
Kris nodded, as the trio got to eating. Audrey had a small amount of trouble with her stubbier arms, but the length of the disposable silverware allowed her to eat without issue. She did like the pancakes though, though really it was still human food, but I mean it's not like Pokemon don't eat it anyways out in the world. Within the time they had already packed up, so they could leave immediately after eating. It took probably around 20 minutes for everyone to finish.
"How was your food?" Audrey asked Susie.
"Pretty good. Bit different, you know with the different body and all but." Susie replied.
"Right, you said something about that." Audrey replied. "Must be hard to adjust to like body stuff like that."
Susie's body wasn't too far off her traditional body, but it did have some differences in abilities, and she was disarmed in this world as well, lacking her traditonal axe.
Kris led the way out, paying out of their previous winnings from battles and other events that had transpired in their Pokemon adventure thus far. Susie gave her a thumbs up to indicate thanks, Kris nodding.
The trio began their walk across town, which of course didn't take too long with the size of the city, it was really only being built around the gym and a few other small businesses. The gang was all together at this point, this trio having taken a little longer to arrive.
"Hey you two!" Lori said. "What took you so long?"
"How long have you been here then?" Susie asked.
"About half an hour, really." Kieran commented.
Kris shrugged.
"You seen Ralsei?" Susie asked.
"Yeah, they were here, they went to check in on Bianca again." Lori replied.
"Alright." Susie said. "Here's your pokeball back." She said as she tossed Audrey's pokeball back at Kieren, who barely managed to catch it.
"Thanks." Kieran replied. "You didn't have to throw it though."
"Yeah, whatever." Susie replied. "Not like it broke or anything."
Kieran seemed mildly annoyed, but with the group all there, it was probably time to see if the two injured friends were cleared to go. Kieran left to go check on Cheren, while Kris and Susie caught up with Ralsei. Cheren was awake as well, and in much better shape due to having Bianca to break his fall in the cave incident.
"How ya doing?" Kieran asked.
"Pretty alright." Cheren replied.
Kieran found that to be pretty good. "There's a gym in this town too, actually." He said.
"I knew that, yeah." Cheren replied.
"Wonder if Bianca will be ready to go or not." Kieran asked Cheren, partially rhetorically.
Cheren didn't know, but felt a little bad, but it wasn't his fault, it was Team Plasma's for knocking him off that ledge to begin with. There wasn't a ton to talk about since they had all just been together earlier, but it was clear the team had to be more vigilant in future, at least until they had folks who could fight off grunts such as the ones they had ran into earlier.
"You know." Cheren asked. "I wonder how that Munna is doing. Wonder if they'd stick around the daycare."
"I don't know." Kieran replied. "Just seems so weird to see it for real, like they said they thought Susie and Ralsei were that but they weren't but like it being real, just kinda sounds different."
"Hopefully the city won't be too bad." Cheren said. "A large urban area's bound to have lots of them."
"Yeah..." Kieran said. "That doesn't sound too fun."
"I mean I don't think they've really shown any danger too far besides just stealing Pokemon at least." Cheren said. "Though maybe they're harsher in the city, haven't been to be sure."
"We're older than most that leave though." Kieran replied. "If it was so bad they'd probably not let even us out."
"Good point." Cheren replied. "Though that one person said that they might be ramping up their presence, that they weren't super common around here."
Kieran thought for a moment. Would it be worth doing this again in every little side road coming up later? But then again, what was the point of having the Pokemon if not to train them. Team Plasma's ideals of a separate society crossed his mind. Susie was pretty strong though as well, and crossing her might not be a good idea either. It wasn't like Team Plasma was right, Kieran concluded in thought, it was just that they were making the structure of a pokemon trainer society unsafe. Keeping going might be a good idea, to get strong enough to help clear out this group, who while admittedly might have the right idea, are still functionally a terrorist group. Interrupting this thought line was Ralsei, who came in to relay Bianca being cleared to the group.
"Well that's good." Cheren replied. "Should be my turn next. You guys go out to the Gym, I'll catch up."
"You sure?" Kieran asked. Cheren nodded.
"Well I mean, if you want." Ralsei said.
"By the time you're all done, chances are I'll be there anyways. Plus if someone needs to train up some more and we're here all day anyways..."
"Good point." Ralsei replied. "Well I guess we'll leave you to it?"
"Be safe." Kieran replied.
Cheren gave a thumbs up, before the duo that was leaving headed out. They met up with Lori, Susie, Kris, and Bianca in the main lobby.
"Where's Cheren?" Bianca asked.
"He said he'd stay back, has to get dismissed and we'll hold up the gym being a party of 6 anyways." Kieran replied.
"Right..." Lori said. "Well I guess if he doesn't wanna come along right now that's fine by me."
Bianca seemed excited to do more battling, wasn't her forte per se but i mean it was fun after all!
Kris and Susie seemed a little bit worried about the weaker group. Kris didn't have super strong Pokemon, but had enough fighting experience herself to at least repel ones at around level 30 herself, depending on typing and attack patterns. And then Susie was a ludicrous strong Pokemon for this part of Unova anyways, approaching level 70. Susie thought that the group would be in safe hands, or paws, or whatever she had as a Dragonite.
With that exchange though, the group one short of seven walked out in target of the gym, seeking to get their second badge.
