101. Martyr

Sipping from the freshly brewed coffee, she winced, realising that the liquid was still boiling hot. Luckily, she had hardly drank any but she could already sense the blister that was forming on the roof of her mouth.

Rachel sighed. She wished she had paid more attention but she didn't have time. She barely had enough time to even breathe.

There were the annual reports, the upcoming meeting with the board of governors, the health and safety report she had to file after the latest incident, and the proposal she had for the new business centre. Eddie had offered to assist her, to fill in some of the paperwork himself, but she had insisted it was no problem. She could do it. Didn't she always?

Rachel had barely managed to take a toilet break, before rushing from the staff room with multiple folders in her arms, throwing them onto the table when she reached the office, taking two minutes to eat her banana and orange, to make that coffee, before settling down for a whole day's worth of work. She could already feel the tension settling in her back and neck, the massage she undoubtedly needed that she never gave herself.

It was one of those days. Yet, Rachel never stopped to question how she could make it any easier for herself. She simply charged ahead. As Eddie muttered when his offer had been rejected- typical!
