Stormy Bubbles
Chapter 1: The Storm Begins
Summer vacation has hit Townsville! Blossom has been invited to a science camp for the summer, and thus isn't home. Bubbles and Buttercup, however, get to enjoy summer at home together.
The two of them were playing outside in a sprinkler together, chasing each other for fun. Bubbles was being her Joy and Laughter self, as always.
"I'm gonna get you, Buttercup!!"
"Nuh uh, can't catch me!"
Bubbles went to tag Buttercup, but the moment she moved her arms, the clouds started to move. "What the…" she said to herself. She moved her arms again, and the clouds moved with every wave.
"Woah, Bubs! You got another special power!?"
"…I think so?" answered Bubbles, unsure of what's going on.
"You can control weather!!" said Buttercup excitedly, which made Bubbles beam.
Later that day, Bubbles had started to get the hang of her weather powers. In fact, she was using them all day. Bringing rain to the Professor's car to help him clean it, then drying it with sun rays, or making it so the wind wouldn't knock over the trash cans.
Buttercup was happy for her sister at first, but this started to fade the more Bubbles used her ability. Buttercup couldn't help but think "why don't I get special powers? Blossom has her stupid ice breath and super smarts, Bubbles has her stupid animal talk and language power and now this weather power… where's my power? When will I be special!?"
The next day, it started to become apparent that Bubbles' new power was getting stronger, and… less controllable. The Professor was making breakfast, chocolate chip pancakes.
"Mm, my favorite!" beamed Bubbles.
"Why's it always her favorite and never mine?" asked Buttercup. She and the Professor began to argue about the subject, something as small as a breakfast food. Why was Buttercup so angry today!?
As the fight went on and Bubbles started to absorb the negative energy, a storm began to brew outside. The Professor was confused, because it was meant to be sunny, but the moment he saw Bubbles in her anxious state, he knew. He knew that these new powers of hers were meshing with her emotions.
"Bubbles, sweetie, deep breaths.." he held her hand, doing breaths with her. Buttercup watched, confused by what was going on.
Later on that day, Buttercup was talking to the Professor. "Professor, question. Why don't I have a special power?"
"W-well, honey, maybe you just haven't gotten it yet-"
"No, I want my special power now! I don't understand why Bubbles gets a third special power while I still have none!" she said angrily. A storm started to brew outside.
The Professor was confused about the storm until he saw Bubbles. She was at the door, listening to the conversation. "It's my fault she's upset, isn't it.." she said sorrowfully.
"Well, maybe if you weren't such a crybaby who keeps making it rain, I'd be happier with you! Maybe if you didn't have any stupid special powers I'd be happier with you! Why do you get to be soooo special!? Everybody just looooooves you don't they!! But not me, oh nooo, they have to love Bubbles, Bubbles Bubbles BUBBLES!!! "
This outburst of jealousy from Buttercup had shaken Bubbles to her core. "…Buttercup, I'm sorry, I didn't mean to be like this… I'm sorry I'm like this I'm sorry I'm the way I am!! "
The Professor tried to rush to Bubbles' side, but was instead blown away by a gust of wind.
"B-bubs…? C-calm down, okay!? I-I didn't mean what I said, i-" Buttercup desperately pleaded to no avail. Before she knew it, she was knocked out.
Bubbles' anxiety has been getting worse this past year, but nobody expected it to escalate this badly. As she screamed, a hurricane started to form outside, with flooding and strong winds. The last thing Buttercup saw was Bubbles being taken away by her own tornado.
When Buttercup and the Professor came to, Bubbles was gone… and so was their house. It was destroyed, and so was the rest of town.
"Bubs..? BUBS!? BUUUUUBS!?!? WHERE ARE YOU!?!?" Buttercup was scared out of her mind, fearing the worst for her sister. "Professor, stay here. I'm gonna find her." And with that, she flew off in a green flash.
