I did not know who to be upset with, Henri for pretending to be Narnia or Narnia not warning me dose that from time to time. How has no one caught on to this? Narnia took me home and was directing me around with my eyes covered by a blindfold. Making me put my hearing suppressants on silent.
"We passed your office."
Little swirls where seen under my blindfold and I giggled. Then more orange ones. "I can't hear you, but I see you're your frustrated."
I waited a little bit. "We are coming up on the dining room."
He pushed the button on the left side. "Vi."
"Is that a warning Vi or a playful one. Not dinner, but I was hungry."
He opened the door to the outside. "It's in the garden?"
"Yes." He paused and took the blind fold off.
We were not in his garden; it was a balcony with flora blooming all around. A single round table in the middle with a candle lit in the middle.
"You tricked me."
"Not exactly, I said I wanted to take you out, not home." He pulled my chair out. "For you, My Princess."
I held my dress in place as I sat, and he pushed my chain in. "Thank you." I grinned as he took his seat across from me. "How long have you had this planned?"
"It was a thought before you ever realized I liked you." He rang a bell, and a waiter came to the side. "Your finest sweet wine for the table."
"Yes sir." He bowed and left the table.
"Nari, this is so sweet."
"Not as sweet as you, there will never be anything that could take that spot when it comes to you."
I blushed. "Maybe some candy."
"Nope, your all I need." The waiter came back with a bottle and two glasses and poured us wine. Narnia picked his glasses up. "A toast too the first of many nights I hope to spend with you like this."
"To many amore nights, as long as they are with you." We tapped glasses and had a drink.
It was all the romance novels mixed into one. My heart was fluttering at every sweet word, and gesture. I was falling harder by the second. He was mine; I had a person for me. All those years of refusal, but this one wanted me back.
Food came out and was placed in front of us. "It looks perfect. You always think of everything and take care of me down to the last detail."
"I would not be a good courting partner if I blatantly ignored your words."
Lips pulled back in a tight smile. "But I do that sorta kinda. I don't listen when you tell me not to do things."
"I know, but for some reason, I do not mind. When you went into the interrogation room, did you see anything."
"I did. Nari, I do not care about it, if you are worried you might scare me off then your worries are for not. The rumors did not bother me then, and seeing will never bother me in the future."
"When have you watched?"
"When I brought in an unexpected assailant. I watched you, and if I am honest. I wanted to do that too."
"And you did."
"I thought you would be mad, but you called it hot. Then the…" I cupped my cheeks trying to hide the redness I knew was forming.
"What did you and Princess Shura do."
I uncovered my face. "That's girl time, I do not spill tea. We painted each other's nails and watched a movie while we had tea and cookies. Walked her garden like city. I think I found a friend, a real one."
"That's great."
"Yeah." My phone buzzed in my pocket. I looked, Princess shura sent me a link. "Who is it?"
I put my phone away. "Shura, she sent me something. I only checked just in case it was Eli."
"Look at it, I'm not keeping you from your friends. I am curios myself what she is sending you."
"A link." I pulled my phone out, clicking on it. It was a broadcast video from moments before.
"We are here live with you playing this top song favorited by Princess Shura herself. Spreading it on her Insta-devi last night, it shot through the roof on likes and downloads. He it is now." My song played in the background; I smiled a little.
"You like it?"
"Uh, yeah. We found that song and I dared her to share it."
He chuckled. "I do not know if that makes you a good or bad influence. It sounds familiar." He listened harder and I paused the video.
"Shura is super into Akudols, showing me around her account but enough on that. I am here with you. I have something else I wanted to talk to you about. Um…" I did not know how to bring this up.
"You can tell me, you know I am here for you, no matter what."
"Remember when Eli and I were attacked, and that time I almost died." He nodded. "Well, it has been on several occasions that I was in danger, and if something were to happen to me and not him, it might leave him alone in this world."
"I am here, so long as I am breathing, I will not let anything happen to either of you."
"Yes, um… that is why I am bringing this up. If something were to arise that I could no longer take care of him, I want someone with my interests in mind to protect him, or take him in. Only, if necessary, I have Grandpa, but I wanted a last fail safe." I summoned the contract I made.
"What is that?"
"I wrote this out a while ago, and I have thought about it long and hard. I would like him to have a backup guardian, someone outside the family if a situation were to ever arise." I handed him the papers.
"You want that to be me?"
"I do, your name has power and fear behind it. Like you had said, no one would dare try and touch him if you were around. If he went to border patrol every day, he would be extra protected."
I gave him time to read it over, he read everything carefully. "You were articulate, adding in ways to have him back. Your wishes. I see no issue in this, are you sure you want me to do this? You have Lord Sullivan, your adopted family."
"Grandfather does not know about this. Is it just that, if some time in the future, what if something happens? I feel you would have the best interests in mind. Eli knows, and he was alright with it being you as well. He wants to get to know you too."
He summoned a fountain pen, cut his finger and sighed in blood. "It is done."
"You… sighed in blood?"
"Yeah, you care about him. You have done many things I have asked you to do. This is nothing in the pool of things you could be asking for. You need to also sign in blood to finalize it." He handed the papers back, cleaned the pen and gave it to me to use.
I signed in blood right next to his name. The words on the page glowed, it was now a magical contract. I felt relieved to have one more person for him.
"Might I ask how long Henri has been impersonating you? That was a rather awkward situation."
He chuckled. "Yes, I probably should have warned you, but a few years. Now that you know I hope to never see you on him like that again. The take down was funny."
"You saw that?"
"There is a small window at my head height." There was, I was to short. Not even my tippy toes allowed me to peak in. Opening the doors instead to see.
"I assure you, there is nothing there. When I realized, I was off in a heartbeat."
"I think his frustration was most entertaining."
I tapped my head three times and sighed. "Can we forget it happened, please? He's old enough to be my dad."
"Pfft, you would be surprised. Henri had a child young, that chin strap he keeps helps him look older. Anyways, have you made any new music."
My drink got caught in my throat, and I coughed. "Not a fish, and a little bit. That's all private you know that."
"You know I already told you I'd listen any time. I was invested then and I am more so now. Speaking of music, if it's not to cheesy for you. I have something short for you to read." He handed me a torn, crumpled and folded paper.
I covered my mouth chuckling. "How long have you been holding on to this?"
"To long, I'm not that good at this."
I unfolded the paper. The lyrics were sweet, "and babe said… what?"
"See I get stuck there."
I rubbed my chin, and snapped my fingers as I stood up and danced. "Dance magic dance."
He grinned from ear to ear. "I have stared at the part for a month and you… you're so perfect. I do not think I have been this happy in my entire life."
I felt the same way. How badly I wanted to say those three little words. It had not been long enough, not even a month. That was the standard I had given myself, all from a story a coworker had spoken of. We finished our food, and chatted the rest of the night before he took me home.
I opened the link again scrolling to the spot I left on and listened. "Agents are looking for this rising star and turn her in to the next Akudol. Velvetrose, if your hearing this, they are looking for you." That was the end.
I called Shura. "I just saw, that is so crazy."
"Right, I told you it was Devi-awesome. Post another and I will share it again. Do my favorite, Everything at once."
"Um, okay." I hung up.
I went on to Devi-Zon and saw my subscriber list in the thousands. My heart skipped a beat, they liked it so much they wanted to know if I posted more. I posted the song she wanted and sent her the link. She winked back and I saw the first share.
I waited an hour and checked my phone again. It was climbing. I could cry happy tears right now. I paced the halls, checking on Eli, walking the ground. My mind racing as I wondered what this might do in the future.
I was trying so hard not to check every five minutes. I looked again at dusk, just before Eli's wake up time. It was top fifty. I let out a shrilled E. and walked to Eli's room to wake him, eat and head into work. I sat in Henri's office, waiting for Fenrir to show up.
"You are rather happy today, where you safe last night?"
"Oh, no. Might be pregnant now."
"Then you can not go on the field."
"Henri, nothing like that happened. It was a wonderful evening, end of story. Please step out of the relationship, it feels like your trying to be my dad."
I looked at my phone, Shura sent another link and I clicked on it. "Another banger from Velvetrose, just who is this artist and is she willing to come out of the shadows and show herself."
"Give me that." Another man with a half horn took the microphone. "If you are watching this, I want to sign you on with my top Akudol Gyuri. Think about it, you have a future in music."
Another woman came into the picture. "Not so fast, I am Marbus Mar. You should be next to Kumoru. You have a song in both genres now. Meaning you are flexible; I am also flexible if you can meet with me."
He took the microphone back. "You now have options. Here is the song if you have been living under a rock." I smiled as I listened to my song play.
"What are you listening to." I shut my phone, looking up at Fenrir.
"Oh, uh, nothing important to you. Where are we going?" I looked towards Henri.
"Scouting, the west forest has had activity that was reported suspicious. We were given this photo." He turned it around. "Kerio is highly dangerous individual, find out why he is in this area and capture him if you can."
We both nodded. Fenrir and I teleported to the roof and flew out to the west. I took my suppressants out, letting all sound come to me. I filtered through the animals, listening for any voices. I heard villagers talking about there day, and someone talking to themself.
I chuckled a little. "Berry pie is better."
"What?"
"Oh, I'm trying to listen for voices and a man was having a whole conversation with himself on what pie is better."
I never met this Kerio kid, but he was already in prison and had been broken out. He had a brain, but no bronze. I knew he and Iruma were close. Iruma calling him sampi, or teacher. The guy was a third year I think, but he was ranked bet.
It was mentioned to me by Asmodeus Alice he had a ring around his neck that gave him more power than what he had. If I do find him, taking that first would incapacitate him. He had heart problems, so it might kill him too.
I heard chanting. "Cult of two, cult of two." It was heavily muffled, like it was under the dirt.
I waved Fenrir down to the trees, landing "Need a nap already."
I pressed a finger to my lips. "I am listening, Cult of two."
His eye widened. "Where?"
"Below us, under the ground. They are saying something about another being to come forth and rule the netherworld. The demon king and the demon queen. Uh…" I closed my eyes. "We know who our queen will be, but we must get her to our side. The Demon king is yet to be reviled.
Stay low, the era is upon us and soon chaos will rain down and form the origins, and we will be the second in commands. Ocho did not die for us to lose our cause, if anything he reviled to use our queen. She has already shared her blood, let s go forth and spread it past the west."
"Ah fuck me, right."
"Later, we have to stop them."
He called Henri, talking to him. "Reinforcements are on the way. We must do what we can in the mean time."
"We don't even know how to get in."
"We make a door. Where was it the loudest?" I pointed where the mas of sound was coming through.
"I don't know how deep."
I covered my face as he smashed the ground with brute strength of Cerberion. So much for keeping his cover. Once, twice, and crumble. He flew in and I went after him. Screams erupted; He was an animal that had been released after a month of starvation.
He ripped heads off and was fighting like I had never seen before. I cuffed as many as I could teleport to. I was much more peaceful than him. A swarm of agents joined the fight. I ventured off to other sounds down the cave passageways.
"How did they know, we have been underground for months, more so after Baals capture."
I put my mask up and shielded myself. I rounded the corner, looking, following the color of yellow panicked words. I found them, Kerio and someone else about to take flight through a hole. I teleported up, cuffing Kerio. I pushed off him and to the other.
I throttled them between my legs, struggling through the fists as we fell. I held their lungs, cuffing them to. Kerio tried to run, and I pressed the button. All collars went off simultaneously. He dropped to the ground, and I pounced on him, ripping the necklace off him by the loop and crushing it.
"Get off my brother." I placed a barrier around us, turning only my head.
I picked up Kerio and took hold of the other one. Dragging them back to the scene. By the time it was said and done we had a hundred and there were a few hundred dead, mostly by Fenrir himself when I asked someone.
I tapped him on the shoulder, and he whipped around, teeth barring.
"Yeah, no." I shoved him to the ground with a barrier.
He grinned looking up. "Not even this?"
"I said no. I took you down with a hand movement. Come on, I managed to find Kerio." I pointed behind me.
"You are the greatest thing to come into border control since me."
"Pfft, okay. Doing my job when you could not. Henri might complain otherwise."
He sighed. "Vi."
"Fenrir."
"Narnia will have a mountain of paperwork. I must go report in."
"Not if he shared the load, it could be two hills instead."
"You are on transport duty. Good luck." He chuckled as he left.
That little shit. I took them back one set at a time starting with Kerio and I think his brother. They looked to much alike to not be. It took me some time to do this, with the hundreds we had captured. It was becoming a dizzy process.
I staggered into Henri's office, falling on the couch. "Done. Is this considered doing my job? I tired."
He laughed. "Fenrir said you captured Kerio and his brother. Job well done. Make your report and turn it in."
"But I'm soooo. Tired." I waved a hand, making the pen move on paper, and gave it to him.
"Narnia could use help with booking paperwork."
"That little…"
"Little what?" I looked up to Fenrir.
"You are a little… bad words. You could have helped with transport. I was so dizzy I had to lay down."
He tapped me on the back. "You did good kid."
"I nabbed the big fish. so, Mmm" I stuck my tongue out.
"Carful Fenrir, that one is taken."
I poked him. "I'm telling Narnia you left me for transport."
"You had it handled. He wont do anything because he told me too."
"You, he. Both. No good ingrates to my abilities. I am getting food." I held up his badge. "On your dime." He reached for the badge, and I held it away, teleporting to the cafeteria.
I ordered so many things and ate every bite of food. I have never been this hungry, but I felt so much better. I pulled my phone out, looking at my Devi-Zon. The song had reached the top ten, sitting in the number five spot the other still number one.
"You full yet or are you going to spend my whole check?"
I picked my teeth with a nail. "I feel much better." I held up the card, and he swiped it from me. Disappearing, I teleported to Narnia's office, but he was not there. I frowned. I lay on the couch closing my eyes. Red eyes. I leaned up, looking around.
"Yodh." He sat next to the couch.
"Yes?"
"Um, is there anything around me." He smelled around.
"Nothing. Why?"
"I closed my eyes and seen the red eyes."
"It is more than likely flash backs. It will be fine."
Right, it was just a nightmare. "Stay with me."
I laid down, closing my eyes. When I woke, a blanket had been placed over me. Yodh was still by the side of the couch. I leaned an arm down and pet him.
"Your awake, what happened to two hills."
"You made me tired, and hungry."
"Hmm, and you spent quite a sum in the cafeteria to prove that claim."
A stake of paper moved from his desk to the coffee table. I sighed, helping him go through all the people we had booked in. When it was done, he went through, signed them off and gave out punishments.
"I will be busy for several days. You take some time for yourself."
"Right, how long?"
"Until I call for you." I frowned. "Or you come see me, but not to often. It slows me down."
Right, he had a job to punish all the criminals. Interrogate them if necessary. I walked around his desk and hugged him from the side.
"I'll miss you."
"Vi, I am not going anywhere."
I frowned. "I already know you lose time in the rooms."
"I will have you with me." He pulled his sleeve up; the bracelet was still there. He did not have it on as Fenrir, but that was fine. Under cover and such.
I kissed his cheek, and he pulled me into his lap. I nuzzled under his chin. He cupped my chin, tilting it up. His nose danced around mine, and I grinned. His lips met mine, melting any sad feeling I had. My heart fluttered in my chest. One was not enough.
I cupped his face, kissing him on the cheek, forehead, other cheek and then his lips again. His hand caressed the back of my head as he laid his head on mine. This was my peace, one of two things I looked forward to seeing the most.
I was falling hopelessly in love with him. I had given up all those years ago, but deep down I wanted something like this. This relationship will take work, but I was here for the long hall if he was, too.
