Rose walked down the stairs and in to the living room living room "they asleep?" Jack asked from the sofa and held out a cup of tea for her "yes" she nodded and took the cup "Teddy was out like a light, Eliza not so much" she laughed a little and sat beside him.
They sat in a comfortable silence for a few minutes, Jack's arm over her shoulder as she played with his hands before Jack took a deep breath "Rose?" "Hmm?" She replied, not looking up at him "can I ask you something?" Rose looked up at him confused "yes?" "What happened after the Titanic? With Cal I mean?" "I've told you…" "no, you haven't, not really Rose" he replied. She too then took a deep breath and looked away from him "he found me, him and my Mother actually. I was taken back to the Hockley Mansion where everything happened as it was 'meant to' before the Titanic; we got married, attended fancy galas, pretended to be the perfect couple and then I fell pregnant" "were you happy?" Jack asked "with Cal? Of course not!" She responded, shocked "no, when you found out you were pregnant" "yes and no… I've always wanted to be a Mum, so in that respect, yes. I thought that being a Mum would give me a purpose, of course I wouldn't have had much say in their upbringing, nor seen them much with Cal's parenting rules… but then I felt guilty that I would be bringing a tiny person in to the world, THAT world" she sighed "and when you miscarried?" He asked "I was devastated, a tiny bit relieved, but devastated nonetheless… but everything happens for a reason, if I hadn't miscarried, he would have never divorced me, and then I would have never found you or the children. So really, as much as it pains me that I'll never be able to carry children of my own, I think it's all turning out rather well" she looked up at him. He kissed her forehead "I'm so sorry you went through that" "I'm safe now, with you, Teddy and Eliza… and the happiest I've ever been… so please, don't be" she kissed him softly.
He stroked her cheek and nodded "I love you" "I love you too" she smiled
"Jack?" She said quietly "yes?" He replied "does it not bother you? That I can't give you another child?" Jack looked to her "no… not at all… we have Eliza and Teddy, and I know they're not biologically yours, but they are in every way that matters. I would've loved a child with you Rose… but it's not to be… and that's OK" he kissed her head "come on, let's go to bed. We've got an early start in the morning ready to catch the train" he said. Rose nodded and stood up, following up to bed.
