Scene Change: Porlyusica's Cottage, Year x767 (A week later)

Rep P.O.V

"How are they doing?" I asked the old woman looking after Bruno, Jane and Mira, the parents lying in a pair of beds laid out on the opposite sides of the cottage we're currently in. Scanning using Harpuia's systems while in Model H form to run at full capacity as I did, noticing a few things that would've been good news but in this instance are just more worrying.

"I cannot say, what those people have done to them," Said the usually moody Porlyusica, a somber look on her face as she went about organizing her equipment. Baby Mira lying in a crib nearby sleeping peacefully. Something to be thankful for after what happened.

"It's unthinkable, the world is better off with everyone from that village behind bars. Turning them into nothing more than magic batteries, and draining them of every last drop of power. Especially given Jane has unnatured magic power and is pregnant, there's no telling if she'll make it."

I figured, it's the best we can hope for that the kids inside Jane can even make it. Yeah kids, another change has happened. It's not just possibly Elfman in there, but two babies. And they might not even make it with Jane in a comatose state, even with magic medicine being enough to keep her alive while she's comatose, she isn't able to eat to help the kids grow and stay healthy. There is no magic to help them.

"Is there anything I can do to help them," I said, changing out of Model H and switching to a modified version of Model F in what I have dubbed my civilian clothes. Which is really just Model F without the helmet and busters. Strangely I have short red hair like this instead of long hair despite not having had a haircut in over a literal decade. "There has to be something, the kids'll die at this rate, even if Jane will survive this. She'd never forgive herself if they didn't make it with her."

"What do you mean by kids, there's only one of them? Either way, unless you could somehow find a way to increase Bruno and Jane's etherion intake for their magic cores, then be my guest." Porlyusica said in an irritated tone, beginning to look more like her usual self. "But given that there is no such thing I wouldn't be surprised if they were stuck like this for another week at a minimum."

The same amount of time it would take for the fetuses to die, the magic in use won't be able to sustain them for that long. Luckily, there are a few ways to do as she said even if only in theory. The way I did it is impossible for anyone else the technology of Fiore is just too primitive compared to that of even modern day Earth let alone the megaman era, but if I could manage to get a supplemental lacrima that has unnatured power then that could work. I could probably rig together a device to allow transferal of the etherion with some help thanks to HUD having the schematics for similar devices stored. Problem is that those kinds of lacrima are rare to say the least they can only be purchased in Crocus, the capital of Fiore.

Either I buy it at the capital using my savings which would take just about three days of travel or go on the mission that Makarov gave me in that bulk of requests a while back, possibly risk my life, and make it back barely on time due to the time needed to both travel and do the job. And the seemingly unnecessary bereaucratic paperwork for the job listed chancing that even that might not work.

Yeah, I think I'll just take that flight to the capital for the lacrima. At least if that doesn't work I can complete that one request Makraov sent me during the trip in case I can't find one in the shops, as unlikely as that is. Hopefully this doesn't jinx anything.

"Thanks for letting me in here, Porlyusica," I said nodding to the healer on my way out of the cottage. "I know how much you dislike humanity so this means a lot."

"Just get out of here already brat." She said as she gathered up the materials needed to put together Mira's bottle.

As soon as she said that and I got out of the cottage, I switched from civilian mode to battle mode. Causing my helmet and armor to appear and, from secondhand account, for my eyes to start glowing orange, the same color as the biometal I'm wearing. Once the change was made I started dashing through Magnolia, making sure to keep to the roof tops if there was a crowd ahead of me, on my way to the Fairy Tail guildhall. While Model F's dash jets are a lot weaker than the others, it is still enough for me to travel at a pace better than just walking or running.

The trip itself didn't take long, and the people around didn't really pay me much mind due to now being used to my visits to the guildhall. Makes sense since I do visit the guildhall regularly.

As soon as I landed in front of the guildhall, I changed back to Model F's civilian wear, the weight of the armor being more than noticeable as it left and opened the door. Walking in, the hall was as rambunctious as ever, but there was a certain mutedness to it. One reminiscent of the eerie silence that occurred when Bruno was hurt in the first place.

Walking in and ignoring the ongoing brawl, I headed over to Makarov sitting on the counter downing a mug of beer and cackling like a madman about something as usual.

"I'm taking the mission at the capital," I said as I stopped right in front of him, Fafnir's impatience showing itself and making me more gruff. "The reward might help Jane."

"What?" Replied Makarov, no longer red faced and delirious, now dead sober. "What do you mean, you can help her?"

"The reward besides money, is a large capacity unnatured lacrima," I said, getting frustrated with the old man, not really in my nature to be like that but I'm using Model F right now so it's influencing me a bit. "I can alter some of its properties and use it as a makeshift temporary magic booster for Jane, provided you can get me in touch with someone familiar with magic mobiles. Bruno doesn't need it, but their kids do."

"Their kids?" Makarov asked, eyes widening in a grim look of realization. "I see, so Bruno and Jane would be fine, but Jane is pregnant and needs help to save them."

"Yeah, so I'm taking that mission, and getting out there. I'll try to buy one but if that doesn't work the mission will be my fallback. " I said, turning around to leave. "If you have any way to get me into contact with an expert on magic mobiles, do it now while I get the lacrima."

"Good luck out there." was all I heard from him as I left the guildhall, changed to Model H and took off.

Scene Change: Outskirts of Crocus, Year x767 (Three days of straight flying later)

Rep P.O.V

Crocus is huge, I can see it while still about half an hour away.

The person who posted the job shouldn't be that far inside the city, they put on the job that I should meet them at the bar that is along the road near the entrance to the city. Though I honestly don't know why it couldn't have been at the Magic Knights' headquarters since the person who gave the job is a mid-ranked knight of the order.

Still, before I visit the job giver I should head to the marketplace and see if there are any lacrima there that suit what Jane and the kids need. I have the money to get it, the mission is just a backup plan if it falls through.

As I approached the city I started descending and slowing down, coming close to the ground about half a mile out to avoid spooking anyone, before landing and changing from Model H to Model X, knowing that Model X has better endurance and would make getting to Crocus easier than using Model F.

As soon as I changed to Model X, I noticed some changes to it. It's been a while since the last time I used Model X, at least not without using it alongside Model H. The armor is slightly less bulky, and the Mega Buster was automatically summoned instead of appearing when I called it. Without even looking in a reflection I could tell, somehow, that my new version of Model X was closer to X during the Zero era instead of Maverick Hunter X or Megaman Model X during the ZX era.

The armor wasn't just less bulky though, it was also lighter, and if HUD's info is right. Which it usually is. It's also somehow more durable than the armor from before.

The biometal fragments are adapting to me just as I am adapting to them.

How is that possible? Vent and Aile didn't have the biometal change as they used them, they only learned how to combine the fragments to draw out more power, more than I can use currently to be honest but still. This is a bit absurd since the readings say that my current power output is more than twice as strong as when I first used Model X, enough to let me fight Laxus and Cana two on one and win.

Shaking my head to get my thoughts away from the topic of the biometal, I started dashing towards Crocus. My dash speed being roughly three quarters as fast as I was flying, not as fast since I still need to worry about obstacles unlike up in the sky, but still a good speed that would let me make the rest of the way to Crocus in less than five minutes.

As I came up on it I slowed down from a dash to a sprint and then a jog. Stopping in front of the gate I modified Model X to take off the helmet, letting my hair down; it being long and blonde due to a combination of both not having had a haircut for so long and the compatibility that Zero and X have letting Zero's influence stick while using Model X, before I changed the armor to simple clothes that looked similar to Vent's uniform with the jacket open and walked in.

Though with how people are reacting to me I may as well have kept Model X in battle mode anyways. Everyone around me is looking at me strangely, some are looking at me with awe, others confused before having someone whisper to them and joining those others staring at me in awe and there were even a few women looking at me with jealousy. I am not even gonna pay that last one any mind.

Why are all these people staring at me like this?

Either way, it's irrelevant to my mission. Ignoring the stares I began walking down the street, using the map of Crocus I read in the library a while back that I had HUD keep in his databank to navigate my way to the marketplace. As I did, I heard some people talking and bustling, most people just talking to each other about inane subjects that were completely none of my business but I couldn't help hearing due to my enhanced senses. Others were talking about me, something about Fairy Tail and questioning why I'm here.

As I got to the marketplace, there were even more whispers. All of them overlapping with each other and becoming unintelligible even if I were to try to pay attention to one in particular.

Once more ignoring the whispers I walked down the marketplace having HUD keep out a constant scan of the area for the lacrima I'm looking for, a scan that is more precise and widespread when in Model X than compared to Model F and even Model Z. Thanks to the enhanced scan, it didn't take long before I found what I was looking for, unfortunately its the only one in the marketplace. Which is also the only street in Crocus that has stores that sells magic items.

The storefront wasn't all too impressive, just a standard two story building with the store being on the first floor up front. The decorations were exactly what one would expect from a magic shop, being used as a way to display potential magic items a customer can buy from the store. This way since most people only window shop in Fiore they can recognize what items they can get. One of these display items is exactly what I needed, an unnatured large capacity lacrima. Though the one on display had been drained already.

And it costs three million jewels, the same amount as what I have in my savings that I brought with me and have on hand using the storage unit that Zero used to carry his weapons around. This will hurt for a while but there's nothing else to it, I can't risk killing off Elfman and whoever is in there with him. Probably Lisanna since the other signature was feminine in nature.

Opening the door and walking in, the sound of the bell attached to the door ringing out as I did, I noticed that the store was nearly empty. The few people in here all looking at me as I came in, the same stares and whispers as the people outside happening in here too.

Ignoring the stares I walked up the line in front of the store counter and waited for my turn, though with how the people moved aside as I walked up I may as well have just walked straight to the front. When I got up there, the brown haired girl manning the register was sweating and nervous weirdly enough.

"Are there any unnatured large capacity lacrima left? I'd like to purchase one." I said, drawing on X's voice, trying to be as polite as possible and avoid getting angry at the shopkeep. Thankfully X is experienced in keeping his cool during diplomatic situations and I am drawing on his experience at the moment. "I have the full payment for one on hand at the moment if that helps."

As I said that the clerk at the counter stopped sweating and looked surprised, why? I mean, I didn't really do anything to be nervous about in the first place so...

"Uh right away sir." She said, a light dusting on her face as she typed away on the computer next to the register. Probably just tired or something, would explain why she's putting so much effort into just typing. Though when she finished typing she looked nervous again, however this time instead of being outright scared she just looked a little meek.

"I'm sorry sir, but the lacrima has been purchased already." She said slowly, as if trying to avoid making a large animal angry. "It has been put up as a job reward for the man who bought it."

Figures, this guy is probably the one who's job I'm on someone who works for the obviously corrupt magic council. I definitely jinxed it, and since I tempted fate so much that would mean-

"Is that man named Arcadios?" I asked, remembering the person who submitted the job. The same man who might become the personal guard of Princess Hisui later down the line. Though given what's happened in quick succession just now, he more than likely is that very same Arcadios.

"Yes, he is." She said while bowing slightly as a way to apologize. "Is there anything else I can assist you with, Teacher of Fairy Tail?"

"No, I-" I almost said, before stopping. "What did you just call me?"

"You're the Teacher of Fairy Tail right?" She said her head tilted to the side slightly. "Rep Lloyd, the man who taught all of the current A-class mages of Fairy Tail, and even the newest S-class."

What does she mean by 'newest S-class?' And what the heck, I have a reputation outside Magnolia? And it even reached all the way to Crocus, how did that even happen? I didn't really do much of anything in public aside from jobs but those were done under an alias so my appearance shouldn't be well known either even if my name is known from teaching the A-class mages of the guild.

"I am Rep Lloyd." I nodded my head while still getting my thoughts in order before asking a question while trying to avoid asking how well known I am. "How did you guys recognize me? I tend to look differently whenever I transform."

"Oh, uh- I was told you were gonna- Uh I mean-" She stuttered about to say something before stopping herself. "Well, the magic knights saw you flying over and transforming out on the road. They gave out an announcement that you were in the city and what you looked like, Fairy Tail has a bit of a reputation you see."

As soon as she managed to say that she looked rather sheepish, a lot of the people in the shop looked the same. She's likely telling the truth and I can't say I blame them, I am associated with Fairy Tail fairly closely even if I'm not actually a member and they do have a reputation for destruction.

"That's fair," I said, crossing my arms while trying to ignore my discomfort at being recognized by so many people. And the sinking feeling I'm getting. "I can understand the sentiment. Though it feels a bit... Strange being recognized by so many people that I've never seen before."

"I see," she said, a smile on her face. "Well it would just go to show, you've taught so many powerful mages and are a powerful mage in your own right. Of course people would know you."

"Either way, I need that lacrima so may as well go and do that job." I said in response, turning around and walking out of the shop. The whispers and stares around me dissipated slightly as I did. "Have a nice day, I'll be back later for that lacrima."

One way or another I will get that lacrima.

This'll take a while, I can only hope that I'll be able to finish the job in time. If this isn't a setup by those damned old bastards.

A/N:

OK so that took a hot minute to write, and wow is my schedule packed now. Glad I still have an office job for now so I can still work on this in any downtime I have.

UnseenUrge glad you enjoyed it. And thesonicgamer1728 thanks for the review, I'll definitely keep the story up even if I abandon it since this is the first fic I wrote that I actually choose to acknowledge so yeah. And for the guest who reviewed, Rep stays transformed for entire days at a time as a form of training. The only times where he doesn't stay transformed is when he is asleep or when he is training in base right when he wakes up. I don't think I made that very clear, I meant to have that sort of be a thing in one of the earlier chapters, so sorry about that.

Also I know that the fragments don't actually change and adapt to their users beyond the initial transformations. I just added this feature since it makes something I plan for in the future easier, especially since a lot of the showings of Model ZX are actually not as good as Zero who's power makes up apparently half of that form. The plan I have would make a justification for the whole adaptation thing. Plus this plays into the reason why I nerfed the biometal transformations, I wanted to make a play off of why Vent and Aile seem so weak when compared to Zero and X despite supposedly having their powers.

As always thanks for reading guys, and please if you have any feedback or questions anything I should explain better I'd appreciate hearing it in either a DM or a review.
