Chapter 34
Enslave Soul
Fillan was inside his mind, looking back at his past to find answers. He had been captured and looked up for months. Andrew Harris, a captain in the Umbridge Kingdom, had him. He tortured and beat him to find out if he had light magic. Harris was convinced he was the child of Adolpha and Wolf. When he didn't get the results he wanted, he was disappointed.
In the world, everyone can wield magic. Each person can use any significant element; they must train to use it. When someone is born, they are affiliated with one of the elements; at age ten, they manifest their magic. There have been cases where some manifest when they are younger.
Magic is used in everyday life; the only problem about the usage of magic is that they have a side effect. Over a person's lifetime, they succumb to the element's effect. Each element causes different reactions in the body; by studying and learning more about magic, they figured out how to live peacefully.
Light and dark magic are rare in the other races; Elves are the only ones known to wield it easily. One of the problems is that they don't necessarily pass it on to a mixed-race child; elves have been kidnapped for that reason. Light magic is a powerful ability in all other races.
Harris wanted Fillan, a wolf boy beast man, to be able to use it. Fillan was about five years old; he had long, messy gray hair with some black. He showed no expressions due to the effects of Harris's forced magic awakening. Fillan wore old, worn-out clothes.
Fillan was affiliated with lighting; Harris did want that. After some more time, Fillan was left inside a cell; Harris came in one day and told him he would train him to fight. At first, Fillan didn't want to but got beat for it. Once Harris felt he was ready, he took him.
Fillan left where he was being held and was taken to a town that looked like an old western town. It had shops and a bar. Above the bar, there were several rooms; some females in fancy clothes waved to the people going in. It was night and cold; Fillan was told to walk.
Fillan kept looking over; the bar was lively with laughter and singing. He then noticed some young-looking girls running in and out. There were different races of girls there. They hit Fillan and told him to keep walking. Fillan was taken to a large building.
When Fillan stepped in, it smelled terrible; there were a bunch of weird-looking tools and other things he'd never seen. Fillan saw dwarf smiths; they worked hard and didn't look happy. One of the smiths sees them; he moves from where he was and goes to a chain. The dwarf pulls it, and a door opens up.
Fillan sees a set of stairs leading down; Harris tells him to continue walking. They head down and walk into a big room. A big circle was in the middle of the room; seats surrounded the outside. Fillan gets taken to another room that has a prison cell. Fillan didn't want to go.
A guard pushes him; Fillan walks in and is taken to a prison cell. The cell door was open, and Fillan was told to get in. Fillan walks in, and the door behind him is closed. The guard looks at Fillan and smirks; he leaves the room. Torches lighted the cell room, but it was still dark.
Nothing was in the cell; Fillan went to the corner and crouched. He didn't know what to do. He then hears movement in the other cells. Some figures moved; they were looking at him. They said nothing and went back to what they were doing. Fillan closed his eyes and woke up; he was outside the waterfall.
It was late; Fillan was returning to camp when his body began to shake. He felt nervous and afraid. After a while, he calmed down; he didn't know what happened. He ate and fell asleep; the following morning, he ran. He wanted to distract himself for a while.
Back in the Umbridge Kingdom, King John was on his throne; he had a menacing stare. Before him, three of the old guards were upset because they were called in. King John has a guard bring him some documents; he takes them and throws them in front of the old guard.
Faust Corner, a man in his seventies, looked concerned. He congratulated King John on his victory over the demons; King John did not respond to it. The men look at each other; King John observes them. Raul York, another older man, steps forward.
"My King, you look upset; has something happened. What are these?"
King John tells them to look at them; the men pick up the documents and read them. They whisper to each other; Raul then demands where he got them. King John gets angry and draws Mana; he tells them to explain. They stayed quiet.
"Do you have something to hide? Answer me; what have you old men been doing behind my back?"
The third man, Tomas Light, spoke; he looked slightly younger than Raul and Faust. He told King John that they, the old guard, talked after his first loss and devised a plan to keep the Umbridge people safe. King John didn't like that they made plans behind his back.
The other two talked over each other to explain in more detail what they were planning. King John asked one to speak; Faust explained. They were building multiple small strongholds to slow the enemy if they ever got close; meanwhile, they would have their people escape.
King John stops him; he leans on his seat and thinks. He knew they were still hiding more from him; he could see how nervous they were. He thought about investigating them further but needed more evidence to do so. Some were missing, so he needed them back from the front lines.
King John, for now, believes them; he changes the topic. He talks to them about what King Sloan did in his absence and wants to do the same. The old guard wanted to know why he wanted that. King John believed there were demon spies in the city.
"By listening to King Sloan, I want to make sure no one is giving the enemy information on us. We will start with the Adventurer's Guild; they move freely, and it makes sense that some would be hiding there."
The old guard agreed to look into it; King John then mentioned other places he wanted to have checked. Some of the areas are questioned. King John paid attention to what they agreed to and disagreed with; once done, he dismissed them.
"They now have their guards up; hopefully, they are careless and make mistakes. Once the others find out, I will spring my trap."
King John relaxes; the curtain behind him opens, and Stephanie walks out. She has a tray with some drinks; she hands him a glass, and King John takes it. He drank, and it calmed him down.Stephanie asked for his thoughts.
"They are hiding other things from me; this has made me realize that they still don't believe I have full control over the Kingdom. After the next gathering, they should have no questions about my power or be able to defy me. They will realize that they have to either join me or…."
Stephanie placed her hand on his shoulder; she told him not to worry too much. King John smiled and agreed with her. Stephanie put her other hand on her stomach, telling him he needed to work harder. King John looks at her.
Fillan is eating and thinking about what he felt previously; he gets ready to go inside the cave. He makes sure all his supplies are stored and there isn't anything strange around the camp; once everything is normal, he heads to the waterfall. He takes a deep breath and heads in. Again, like previous times, he feels the aromas hit hard.
Fillan opens his eyes and is in a strange world; again, he is inside a white room. This time, there were other children; they were all looking at a screen. The woman he has seen was up front taking. She was explaining something about their bodies.
"Like I previously stated, your bodies will grow fast to a certain point, like animals. Once your bodies are ready, you will start retraining; it will initially feel slow, but you should relearn quickly."
Fillan's scene changes; he is working out, and then he is fighting. Another child was brawling against him. They both moved quickly; Fillan threw a punch but was easily blocked. He also blocks his opponent's attacks; again, his view changes, and he is firing weapons he has never seen.
"You have already done this a hundred times; your new bodies will adapt, and it will become second nature again!"
Fillan was going through a training course. He walked fast, shooting targets; his reactions were fast, and he made decisions more quickly. A group of scientists and high military personnel were watching. Fillan gets to the end and hears laughing.
Fillan turns around to shoot, but his gun is gone; the course he was in also disappeared. Everything around him changed. It was dark; he then heard a door open. A human boy, looking to be the same age as him, walks in. He wore dirty clothes and had messy black hair.
The boy goes to the cells and places what looks like bread on the floor. He continues to the other cells. He gets to Fillan's cell and stares at him; Fillan stares emotionlessly. The boy places stale bread in front of his cell; he finishes and leaves. The others in the cells take the bread and eat it.
Fillan slowly ate the bread and stared at the ceiling; the little lighting made the wall look far. After some hours, the door opens again. Harris walks in with an exciting attitude. He goes over to Fillan's cell; Fillan sees he is dressed like a noble.
"Fillan, my boy, it's time; tonight, you will show Lord Michael your true worth. I will finally get paid, and you won't have to see me again; remember what we practice and put on a good show."
Fillan said nothing; he stared at him and listened. The others hear Harris speaking to Fillan but ignore it. Harris laughs and leaves the room. A few minutes later, the door opens again; a guard is holding the door open. Two more guards walk in. They head to two cells.
Fillan hears people cheering; the guards open the cells and tell the persons inside to move. They get up and walk out; the light hits them, and Fillan sees it is a slave human and beast-man. They leave the room; the cheering becomes louder.
The door closed, and Fillan could feel the ground shaking; after several minutes, the beast-man returned. He looked injured, and he fell to the ground in his cell. The human slave didn't return. The guard opens two more cells; he tells them to move. Again, only one returned.
Fillan gets scared and goes over to the corner. The guard, this time, leaves by himself. Fillan didn't know what was happening; the cheering had stopped, and the ground wasn't shaking. The door opens, and Fillan closes his eyes; when he opens them, the boy from earlier is standing in front of his cell.
The boy places bread and a cup of water on the floor; he tells him to eat it. The boy leaves in a hurry. Fillan takes the soft bread, eats it, and drinks the water. Fillan calms his nervousness. The door, after a while, opens again. The two guards walk in; one stops in front of his cell.
Fillan becomes frightened; the guard opens his cell and tells him to move. Fillan stood up and shook; he looked at the other guard. The door to another cell was open. Out comes a huge gorilla beast man with bulging muscles and scars on his face. The guard grabs Fillan and pulls him out; he is pushed out of the room. The lights blind him; when his eyes adjust, he sees humans in fancy clothes.
They were drinking wine and screaming. Fillan notices Harris sitting surrounded by women; he looks like he is enjoying himself. The guard pushes Fillan; he is taken to a small cell. He is told to enter it; Fillan gets in. The cell door is closed, and Fillan is standing there.
The people gathered around Fillan and looked at him; they whispered, and some even laughed. It makes him uncomfortable and scared. Fillan then hears some talking about betting on him. Fillan feels someone else watching him; he notices the people are also looking at someone else.
Fillan looks around and sees another cell; inside, he sees another wolf boy. He looks older than him. The wolf boy had black hair, was muscular, and wore worn-out clothes. The people smiled and nodded at him. A man got their attention, and the people went to sit.
"Ladies and Gentlemen, I hope you had a nice break; we will soon start our next match. Place those bets and get ready for another entertaining match. Distinguished Lords brought our next fighters. They decided to settle their dispute by having their strongest fighters battle it."
The nobles laughed; the fighters were brought into the circle in the middle. It was a fighting ring. Fillan saw the gorilla beast-man enter the ring; the crowd cheered loudly. He has a blank expression; from another entrance, another beast-man enters. He was a massive beast with horns on his head. He looks more like an animal than a human, an Ox beast-man slave.
The crowd also cheered for him. Some people were screaming louder; they mentioned betting on him. Fillan felt chills from the laughter and shouting; the bell rang, and beasts' screams were heard. Fillan saw in terror as both of them began to beat each other.
The crowd cheers; the gorilla beast attacks with a barrage of punches. The Ox beast blocks and tries to grab onto him. The gorilla beast doesn't let him and manages to hit the Ox in the face. The Ox beast stubbles but gets his balance; he bleeds from his nose. The Ox shakes his head and prepares to attack.
The Ox stomps the ground and charges with his horns. The gorilla pounds his chest and stops the attack; the Ox uses his head strength to throw the gorilla beast over. The gorilla landed on the ground; he got up quickly. The Ox attacks again. The gorilla throws a punch; it gets stopped by the Ox's horns.
The charge continued, and the Ox pinned the gorilla to the wall. He starts punching on the gorilla's stomach. The gorilla screams; he uses a lot of strength to push the Ox off him. The gorilla seems tired; the Ox beast snarls and lets out a puff from his nose.
Fillan looks at the other wolf boy just sitting; Fillan feels the ground shake. He hears the nobles yelling at the fighters to kill each other. The gorilla again pounds his chest and screams; the Ox stomps the ground and prepares. They run at each other.
They run at full speed; the gorilla jumps and falls with force. The Ox swings his head to pierce his opponent. The gorilla puts his hands together, creating a big fist; he uses one of his legs to block the Ox's horn. The Ox tries to counter but gets hit; it disorients the Ox.
The gorilla then grabs onto the Ox's Horns; he tries to pull the horns off with his strength. The Ox felt pain and swung his head to the ground; the gorilla didn't let go. The gorilla kept pulling the horns; the Ox desperately attempted to stop him. He picks up his head and runs towards the wall again.
At full speed, he slams into the wall. The wall shatters, and rubble and dust are kicked into the air. The nobles watch in excitement. They hear movement; the crowd loses it when the gorilla beast man comes out. He had a horn stuck in his hand, but the Ox was nowhere to be seen.
When the dust settled, the Ox's body was buried in the rubble; blood dripped from the rocks. The nobles cheer for the gorilla beast-man; others boo him. The Lord of the Ox beast-man was upset and yelling. Guards enter the ring and remove the Ox's body; Fillan sees his horn broken. The gorilla was returned to the cell room; the announcer returned and spoke.
"All right, now that was a match; wasn't that special, ladies and gentlemen? Now, while we clean the mess, let me talk about the next match; it is another special match. This one is brought to you by our own Lord Michael."
The crowd cheers when Lord Michael enters the arena. Lord Michael waves to the nobles; the nobles greet him and compliment him. Lord Michael takes center stage. He takes what looks like a microphone and speaks to the crowd; they settle and listen.
Lord Micheal compliments the previous fight. He makes the crowd feel welcome; he talks about the event he put together and mentions the problems with the world. Some nobles argue and blame King John. Lord Michael prays on that and encourages them to let loose; the crowd cheers him.
Lord Michael then changes their attention by talking about the next fight. He reminds them that he had lost one of his most essential fights; he pretends to be sad. Some noblemen knew who he was talking about; they mentioned Wolf. Lord Michael smiled secretly.
"My champion is no more, but I have discovered another who will rise and take his place. This next match will let us forget the disgrace of King John; let me introduce some I raise to become champion. He was not easy to acquire from the Black Wolf Clan, Fang!"
The wolf boy gets released from his cell and enters the ring. The nobles cheer for him; Lord Michael kept smiling in delight. He then looks at Harris. Lord Michael talks to him; he lets the nobles know who challenged him. The people looked towards Harris, who was smiling.
"For those who don't know, Harris over there has challenged me. We have a little wager going on, and he wants to prove me wrong; you know what I said to him: I am never wrong."
Lord Michael points to the cell Fillan is in; he mocks how Fillan looks. The nobles laugh. Lord Michael tells the guard to open his cell. Fillan looks at the guard as he opens the cell door. The guard tells him to get out; Fillan doesn't want to. The crowd laughs louder.
Harris gets disappointed; he stands and looks at Fillan. Fillan sees him and gets scared; he leaves the cell and walks into the ring. Lord Michale reminded everyone that they should have betted. As the crowd cheered, Lord Michael was going; before he left, he placed his hand on Fang's shoulder.
"Kill him."
The announcer took over and kept hyping the crowd. Lord Michael goes over and sits by Harris. A servant brings them some wine to drink. Harris gives him some sass, which makes him laugh. Lord Michael wants to add to his wager; Harris asks him to tell him first.
Lord Michael told him he had something coming up and needed him. Harris told him he would do it for the right price. Lord Michael smiles and tells him that would be the wager; Harris thinks about it and adds he would charge extra if he won. Lord Michael agrees.
The announcer finishes by telling the audience the specifics of the fight; he said it would be a fight with no weapons. Harris looks at Lord Michael; he is smiling. Harris playfully insulted him and sat back in his seat. Lord Michael told him that Fillan needed to win this way to believe he could be Wolf's child.
The bell rings, and Fang rushes Fillan. Fillan was scared and stood still. Fang gets close and throws a punch; Fillan covers his face. He then feels pain in his stomach; Fillan holds his stomach. Fang is not done; he grabs Fillan's head before he falls and knees him in the face.
Fillan falls backward, holding his face; he also has trouble breathing. The crowd cheers loudly; Lord Michael was laughing. Harris yells at Fillan to get up. Fillan gets up, but the pain makes him stagger. Lord Michael claps his hands. Fang watches as Fillan struggles to stay up; he grabs his hand and tosses him over.
Fillan hits the ground hard; he yells from the pain. Fang extends his claws. Harris again yells at Fillan; he tells him to use his magic. Fillan turned around and slowly got up; he began to draw Mana. Suddenly, a crystal above the ring glows.
"Oh, I forgot to tell you…."
Fillan's Mana gets sucked away; Harris laughs and praises Lord Michael. He outplayed him and told him he would accept the job. Fillan was confused; Fang attacked with a fury of scratches. Fillan could only try and block. After his attack, Fang stepped back.
Fillan was bleeding from all his scratches; he was hurt and scared. Fang runs towards him and jumps; he comes down with a kick. Fillan manages to dodge and attempt to punch him. Fang blocks it and gives him a quick jab to the face. Fillan stubbles back; Fang, already behind him, grabs him by the waist.
Fang lifts him and gives him a hard German Suplex. Fillan comes crashing down, cracking the ground. The crowd was excited by Fang's attack. Fang stood up and looked at Fillan; he was lying motionless. Lord Michael laughs again but stops when he sees Fillan stand up.
Fang gets mad and attacks. He throws a punch; Fillan stands still and reacts at the last moments. He grabs Fang's hand and tosses him over his shoulder. Fangs is sent flying and hits the ground; he quickly recovers. Harris was surprised and excited.
Some nobles begin to cheer louder for Fillan; it upsets Lord Michael. Fang draws his claws again and attacks; Fillan catches his hand and throws him over his shoulder; this time, Fillan falls with him. He has Fang in an arm-hold. Fang yells in pain.
Lord Michael gets angry, and one of the rings on his finger glows. Fang feels it and draws Mana; he manages to get Fillan off. Harris looks at Lord Michael, who shrugs his shoulders. Fang drew more Mana; he attacked faster. Fillan dodges his attacks.
Fang creates a fireball and throws it at Fillan; he dodges it, but the explosion gives Fang an opening. Fang grabs and throws him upwards, engulfing his hands with fire. He jumps and attacks; Fillan dodges but gets hit. He hits the ground; Fang throws some fireballs and hits near Fillan.
Fillan gets relaunched into the air; Fang catches and lands on him. He pummels Fillan's face with his fist engulfed in flames. Once the fire is gone, Fang gets off of him. The crowd felt speechless. Fang stares at a lifeless body. Lord Michael claps, and the nobles join him.
They begin to cheer again. Harris showed no remorse and congratulated Lord Michael. Fillan's face was burnt and swollen. A group of guards came into the ring and took Fillan's body. They approached Harris and asked what he wanted to do. Harris told them to dump it with the rest.
Fillan could hear Harris talking to Lord Michael. He listened to what he told the guards; he heard the crowd cheering. Fillan heard the guards taking him away. They took him to a dark place; it smelled terrible. The guards stopped, and Fillan felt them throw him. He landed on something.
After a while, Fillan heard some walking. He then got the smell of something burning. A door opened, and a roaring flame heated the room. A dwarf grabs something and throws it in; he looks at the pile. It was dead bodies. The dwarf holds another body and throws it into a furnace.
He closes the door and leaves. The dwarf passes the pile of bodies and doesn't notice one missing. Fillan's body was missing. A few minutes later, he was dragging himself. He felt fresh air and followed it. When he felt like he was outside, he felt a chill. He began to lose consciousness. He then hears footsteps.
"You poor... poor child, everything will be all right now."
