Chapter 01: fifty in a row.
' Hi there, my name is Jaden Yuki, I'm your average boy next door living in a city called Domino, a city that thrives on gaming and tech…..'
At this very moment the following scene is playing out, a group of older kids, let's say about 10 to 12, all big and well built for their age are ganging up on a wiry 9
year old kid at a local park, he's smaller than them but by no means a pushover…..
' the guy getting his butt handed to him?, that's me, the reason?, those guys over there stole a card belonging to a little kid….. and I kinda jumped in to get it
back for him… you see that card is a part of a game called duel monsters…. A game I love…. And no one messes around with it if I have anything to say about
it.'
The older kids at this point were toying with their new punching bag pushing and shoving him around while taunting the kid not realizing that this so called victim
was actually playing with them as he got himself closer to the park's benches and metal poles.
" so what do you say hero?, too afraid to fight back?"
At that the kid, Jaden Yuki smirked.
" not as much as you are taking a look at yourself in the mirror."
The bully at that paused for a moment taking in what the kid said before an angry twitch etched on his face as he said.
" did you just say what I think you just said?!"
Jaden at that scoffed.
" I hope your head doesn't hurt too much."
By this point the bully was mad, like a bull seeing red in front of his eyes the bigger kid was swinging for the fences with a wild right and a left for a couple of times
before Jaden ducked causing said big kid to send a punch into a metal light pole hurting his hand. Distracted by the pain Jaden tackled the bully to the ground as he
took the card from him while the other kids looked stunned by what they saw.
" it's been fun but I have to get going now."
As Jaden was making his way out of the park he could here faint footsteps from behind him getting progressively louder and louder as the kid realized while his feet
began moving on instinct as they began running.
" why did I think it would be this easy?"
As the bullies chased Jaden all over the city for what seemed like a few good hours he eventually managed to lose them. Once he did Jaden returned the card to
said little boy as he began walking back home. Said home wasn't much to talk about except it was a typical one for a middle class family, maybe slightly fancier
since both of his parents usually were working around the clock but in this particular moment Jaden noticed that his dad was home early as he excitedly walked
towards the front door.
" dad… I'm home."
Emerging from the living room his dad, a fairly muscular man sharing his son's piercing brown eyes and a slightly darker shade of solid brown hair welcomed him in a manner that was normal to them.
" let's take a look at you."
Jaden at that sighed as he sweat dropped.
" that obvious huh?"
With that hid dad just silently gestured Jaden to follow him to the kitchen as he began to check his son for bruises only to find out they were minimal with just a
few scrapes that needed iodine.
" ouch…. That hurts….."
His dad, Gordon "Gordo" Yuki responded dryly.
" color me surprised."
Jaden at that paused for a moment asking.
" do you know what colors match a surprise?"
At that his dad gave him a deadpanned stare as Jaden slowly averted his gaze trying to look as innocent as he could while Gordon finished treating his son as he asked the following.
" what was it this time son?"
By this point Jaden knew better than to stall for time or try to make a wiseass comment so instead he told his dad everything that went down earlier that day with
the latter paying close attention. At the end of the story Gordon sighed in annoyed frustration as he asked his son.
" what in any of these decisions you've made was actually smart?"
Jaden at that wanted to reply back with anger and frustration of his own but he was smarter than people gave him credit for.
"nothing…. Sir."
Frustration turned into sympathy as Gordon ruffled his son's hair lightly saying.
" listen I'm not angry, I just want you to use that big brains of yours more often, okay?"
Jaden's smile gradually returned as he replied.
" thanks dad."
Gordon didn't skip a bit as he got his son's attention.
" in fact…. You can use it right now…."
With that a sense of dread washed over Jaden as he both asked and stated.
" it's homework isn't it?!"
Gordon at this point confirmed it as he started pushing a reluctant Jaden towards the hall leading upstairs towards his room.
" you know the drill, finish them early and you can have all the fun you want after."
To that Jaden argued.
" but there no fun to begin with…."
Gordon chuckled a bit as he said.
" knowing you?, I'm sure you'll figure a way to make it fun, now off you go…."
That statement took a whole new meaning since over the almost seven next years Jaden Yuki would embark on his wildest adventure yet.
Academy Island, a dueling school on the southern seas.
Jaden Yuki, now age 15 has made his dream come true in enrolling into a school that specialized in creating the next champions of the ever popular Duel Monsters
card game, a game having originated to ancient times and a sport that's currently shaping the future of whoever chooses to play it, speaking of play our hero was
wrapping up a duel with an opponent who felt confident in his victory, he was proven wrong.
" bubble shot…"
Random opponent: 800 -→ 0.
With the life points of said random opponent reaching zero Jaden gave him by this point his signature winning salute as he continued on to his next task on his to
do list, find a nice enough spot to get some shuteye. Settling on a bench near a nice tree in the academy's main building he laid down on it as he began to dose off,
not minding the fact that some studentswhere hanging out too talking among themselves. As the seconds turned into minutes he was enjoying a nice rest as
footsteps were heard getting closer and closer to where he was laying down.
" I never find you alone like this."
opening his eyes he was met with a friend of his, a beautiful blonde girl about his age who quite frankly anyone with a pulse would fall in love with her quickly, an Obelisk Blue student named Alexis Rhodes.
" well I don't mind the company, so take a seat."
Alexis gave a pleasant smile towards him as she said.
" rain check, Crowler's looking for you."
Jaden swiftly sat himself up as he asked with a nervous laugh.
" did he now?!…. any idea what it's about?!…"
At this Alexis shrugged.
" well I can only guess… have you heard anything about a trainee teacher transferring in?"
Jaden thought for a moment before replying.
" I only know that Sy's dueling him as we speak… should I know more?"
Alexis's demeanor changed as she gave the following answer.
" only that he takes his opponents cards when he defeats them."
Now a few things irritated Jaden Yuki to no end, people disrespecting the game he loves and bullies, so without wasting anymore time he gestured for Alexis to lead
the way to where Dr. Crowler was this very moment.
Obelisk Blue arena, a few minutes later.
As the two made their way towards the arena, both Alexis and Jaden got their fair share of stares, jeers and whispers their way since well, to make a long story
short, it's not too often you see at the academy one of the highest ranked students associates with one from the school's lowest ranks, to drive the point home the
blonde beauty was nicknamed the Obelisk queen while her friend would be called the Sultan of slackers just to pour salt in his wounds. Luckily for both Alexis and
Jaden such distinctions never bothered them as they found Dr. Crowler observing the crushing defeat of one Syrus Truesdale out of the earshot of both duelists.
" hey Clowner!?, you wanted to see me?"
Dr. Crowler, a highly…. A respected teacher at Duel Academy who's androgenous fashion sense made the butt of many jokes tried to rain in the anger he felt for Jaden Yuki, the bane of his existence.
" not by choice trust me on that…. You see the man who just dueled young Mr. Truesdale?"
Taking a good look Jaden silently nodded as a defeated Syrus walked up to said man reluctantly handing over to him one of his cards.
" that's Mr. Ryuga, a teacher in training…. Per protocol he needs to win 50 duels in a row to be promoted to full time teacher."
Jaden Yuki ventured a guess.
" and you want me to duel him next?"
Crowler confirmed but not without making a snide comment.
" well if you were as sharp in anything else I might have the tiniest bit of respect for you."
Ignoring the jab Jaden made his way to center stage where he was met by a crying, humiliated and defeated Syrus Truesdale. Comforting him right on the spot Jaden eventually came face to face with his would be opponent.
" what did you do to my best friend?"
Mr. Ryuga, a gaunt man in his mid 20's sporting a Blue Obelisk coat with a slicked black hair, a couple of strands of white hair and wired framed glasses didn't
answer right away as if silently taunting/ casing this new Slifer Red before him as said boy asked.
" well!?"
At that mr. Ryuga asked concededly?.
" and who might you be….?"
Sensing that the jerk in front of him tried to get a rise out of him Jaden calmed himself a bit before replying.
" Jaden Yuki, you're next opponent"
At that Ryuga smirked.
" the Slifer Red who managed to defeat good old Dr. Crowler, how very nice to meet you…. Now what was it that you asked me again?"
Before Jaden could even speak Ryuga interrupted him.
" I confiscated Mr. Truesdale's Power Bond…. It's part of my teaching method, he'll get his card back once he shows improvement…. Then again he's a Slifer Red for a reason."
Jaden by this point clenched his right hand in rage, however he managed to keep his cool as he replied.
" well since Sy is my best friend I'll tell you what, if I beat you, you're going to return his card and all the others you took."
A cruel smirk was plastered on Ryuga's face as he stated.
" since you possess some skill I'll be magnanimous and let you a whole day to prepare, meet me again tomorrow."
With that Mr. Ryuga payed his respects to Dr. Crowler and Miss Rhodes as Jaden continued to console Sy on his loss before asking.
" what happened Sy…. Tell me everything."
Taking a deep breath Syrus did as he was asked as he began to recap his duel with Mr. Ryuga. Emphasizing that the duel disc Syrus used worked perfectly well
before and after the duel with Mr. Ryuga Jaden internalized what he heard as he cheered up his best buddy encouraging him to continue his day as usual. Once
both left center stage Jaden noticed that Crowler turned back towards his office while Alexis
remained behind.
" Syrus you go on ahead, I'll catch up with you shortly."
Syrus eyed his bro weirdly for a moment, as though he received a hind from Jaden that he himself wasn't aware of making as he cleared his throat before
addressing Alexis.
" say I need you to do me a favor."
Curious Alexis asked.
" what is it?"
Jaden didn't beat around the bush.
" can you find out a bit more about this Ryuga guy for me?"
Alexis smirked at her friend as she responded with.
" I could….."
Catching on Jaden asked.
" and would you please?"
To that Alexis agreed as Jaden pulled her into a quick friendly hug before running off while saying.
" thanks I owe you one…."
At this point in time Alexis was grateful that Jaden didn't stick around in one place for too long as a small but very noticeable blush crept up on her face before she
shook it off continuing her daily routine as usual, speaking of usual routines Jaden Yuki continued his like it was any other day, meaning paying attention for a few
minutes in his classes before sleeping through most of them right up until classes ended for the day.
Slifer Red Dorms, early afternoon.
True to Jaden's rank the Slifer Red dorms left much to be desired for in terms of size, maintenance or even health codes but it was located near the cliffs with a
perfect ocean view which our hero took full advantage of by going fishing. Spending the whole afternoon like that he caught a few fish for dinner as Alexis stopped
by with what seemed to be a disc in her hand.
" thought I might find you here."
At that Jaden smiled saying.
" well fish were biting today so you're in luck."
Alexis rolled her eyes at that comment.
" luck?!, someone's thinking highly of himself."
By this point Jaden was full on teasing.
" well you could've sent me what I needed via our PDA but you just had to see me in person…."
Jaden would've have continued teasing her further but she quickly grabbed him by the left ear as an angry twitch formed on her face.
" one annoying brother is enough for me, got it?!"
Jaden laughed through the pain as he comically declared.
" crystal clear….. also uncle, uncle, uncle…"
Alexis at that released his left ear as she smirked at him before handing him the disk she brought. Leaving Jaden called towards her.
" Alexis!?…"
Alexis in turn gave him her full attention.
" can you pull my other ear?, I want them to match my jacket."
at this both teens began to laugh before Alexis stated.
" good luck tomorrow"
Jaden nodded at that as he returned back to his room with Alexis heading off towards her dorm. With that said and done Jaden set out to study about his opponent
for tomorrow's duel, however one detail escaped him before that moment.
" great….. forgot that I don't have access to a computer…"
Not willing to give up just yet Jaden weighed in his options, maybe Chazz his next door neighbor and number one rival has a computer he could borrow.
" nah… not going to happen…. He's the type that would say ' I don't bother you so don't bother me in return'…."
His next option was to use the computer in the Slifer headmaster's office but that was shut down for the following reasons, first his headmaster, Lyman Banner has passed away a month ago while Jaden dueled him for the fate of the world, long story trust me. So going in a dead man's office? No way, second, Jaden and computers go hand in hand like a gorilla and figure skating and finally third, knowing his luck? The Slifer Red hero would probably stumble upon Banner's browser history.
" well it seems I have only one choice."
Looking at his PDA Jaden noticed that the clock function read 19:10 Pm before he began sprinting to his destination.
" let's hope I'm not too late , this time at least."
As Jaden hurried to his destination a certain Mr. Ryuga was doing his due diligence on Jaden Yuki analyzing every duel he ever participated in, all doing so with a malicious grin on his face.
The day of the big duel, Obelisk Blue Arena.
As Mr. Ryuga was waiting for his opponent to arrive Jaden eventually turned up with a crowd of about 45 students ranging from Slifers, Ra's and a few Obelisks taking their seats in the arena.
" mind telling me why you're 15 minutes late!?"
Jaden smirked while pretending to be naïve.
" sorry about that…. I had to convince our guests to come back here again….."
With that Mr. Ryuga was going to ask what he meant however as he looked closer on the crowd he noticed that all of those 45 were his previous opponents which he made sure to humiliate thoroughly.
" hope it won't throw you off your game"
At that Jaden' s smirk widened as Mr, Ryuga eyes were widening in subtle panic, said reason for this panic?
Everyone with in the audience were Mr. Ryuga's previous opponents.
" duel….."
"game on….."
Jaden: 4000 – Ryuga: 4000
" hope you don't mind me going first Slifer."
At that Jaden shook his head.
" age before beauty."
pissed off Ryuga summoned a low level monster in attack mode while also placing a face down card while declaring.
" I end my turn, now make yours already so I can defeat you already."
as Jaden drew his opening hand he noticed that he didn't have monsters but rather three spells chief among them was Pot of Greed and another two trap cards.
" I start by playing Pot of Greed, I trust you know what it does."
With that Jaden drew two new cards Bubble Blaster and Elemental Hero Bubbleman.
" I summon Bubbleman in attack mode to the field and I'll attach him with Bubble Blaster"
Elemental Hero Bubbleman ( 800/1200 + 1600/1200).
" is that the best you can offer?!"
Jaden smiled which annoyed Ryuga to no end.
" no because whenever Bubbleman is the only card on my field I get to draw extra two cards."
Drawing yet again he noticed that he drew Elemental Hero Clayman ( 800/2000) and a spell card Transcended wings.
" I set a monster in defense and set one card face down and it's over to you slick."
Ryuga didn't even say thanks as he drew a card from his deck muttering under his breath. With that said and done the next few turns became a battle of who could drag out the duel the longest with Jaden doing it just to psych Ryuga out and his
opponent in turn drawing a few cards that served him no purpose at the moment, naturally that pissed off a few members in the audience.
' come on you Slifer slacker…. Move the duel along will you?!….'
Another chimed in.
' yeah I got a hot date later…'
A third member commented on the previous statement.
' yeah….. Rosie Palm and her five sisters are waiting for him…'
The audience in the arena have gone completely silent as a few loud smacks were heard echoed loudly suggesting that the one making the comment won't be making any more of those in the near future.
" so what do you say slick?!, starting to sweat by now?"
Ryuga by this point was beyond livid.
" just take your turn already dammit."
Jaden was about to say ' you forgot the magic word' but then again that would be pushing it, drawing a card he saved it for later as for now he had two very
powerful heroes on the field, Elemental Hero Sparkman ( 1600/1400) and Elemental Hero Wild-heart ( 1500/1600) in attack position with Transcended wings still in
place
" Wildheart, make a nice bag out of that oversized lizard."
At his command the hero looking like a mixture of both Tarzan and Conan the Barbarian lunged at the dragon defending Ryuga slashing it to pieces as Ryuga's life points went down.
Jaden: 4000 – Ryuga: 4000 -→3250.
un-phased from the fact that Jaden drew first blood Ryuga calmed just enough to play and think rationally though he's willing to admit that the Slifer before him
managed to get on his shit list
' let's end this joke already.'
Drawing his card he was about to make his move as Jaden interrupted.
" wow cool ring you've got there, lucky charm?"
Ryuga responded impatiently as he barely contain the hatred and malice towards Jaden.
" yeah, now shut up so I can make my move already!"
Jaden just ignored that remark.
" first I summon Don Turtle to the field, but he's not staying for long."
Ryuga activated a spell at this point called Big evolution pill.
" with this card I Sacrifice Don Turtle to special summon Cyber Dinosaur."
true to his name, a large mechanical T-Rex appeared in a flash of light ( 2500/1900 ).
" attack Wild-heart directly"
Cyber Dinosaur immediately followed orders as it charged at the elemental hero making him minced meat as Jaden's life points dropped
Jaden: 4000 -→ 3000 – Ryuga: 3250
" to end the turn I place one card face down and end my turn."
jaden kept being his friendly self which annoyed Ryuga.
" thanks slick."
With that Jaden drew as a confisent smirk etched on his face while Ryuga subtley went for his ring clicking it until he heard footsteps entering the arena breaking his concentration. Said person who walked in was none other than the school's chancellor Shepard.
" oh good I haven't missed a thing."
Jaden with that confirmed.
" you've just made in time actually."
Ryuga though to himself the following.
' you better not stop to have a full on talk with the old chrome dome…'
However Jaden was merciful on the man as he continued the duel as he drew his dueling partner Winged Kuriboh, not letting any tells appear on his face he
dragged out the turn for as long as possible getting Ryuga to almost lose his temper.
" I set one monster in defense mode and end my turn."
At this Ryuga not only lost his patience but he felt that this was the last straw as far as insults go.
" I summon Hyper Hammerhead in attack mode ( 1500/1200) and then I activate the spell smashing ground to destroy your Sparkman…..
As the Elemental Hero was destroyed Ryuga pointed out the following.
" you remember my Cyber Dinosaur?, he has a nasty ability, for every monster I sacrifice he gets the opportunity to attack you directly."
Ryuga did just that as he sacrificed his Hammerhead while the Cyber Dinosaur let out an intense laser beam from his mouth striking Jaden dead on.
Jaden: 3000 -→ 500.
With an air of superiority Ryuga didn't waste a moment as he declared an attack on Jaden's face down monster.
" not as smart as you think you are….. I activate the spell Transcended Wings which bump up my Kurriboh to a level 10 monster and get this I get to destroy the attacking monster and deal you it's attack points as damage
Ryuga: 3250 -→ 750
" I end my turn"
Jaden at that kept quiet as he drew, a small smirk appeared on his face as Ryuga demanded.
" what's so funny brat!?"
Jaden simply answered.
" check your field slick."
doing just that he noticed that he didn't set up any spells, traps or even monsters to defend himself as Jaden wasted no time with the following.
" I summon Elemental Her Avion in attack mode
Elemental Hero Avion ( 1000/1000).
As Elemental Hero Avion appeared on to the field Jaden declared.
" Avion, finish this duel."
Avion did as he was told as he weaponized the air around as he struck Ryuga dropping the last of his life points.
Ryuga: 750-→ 0
As the holograms deactivated Ryuga dropped to the ground, furious about how he lost and to a Slifer no less as said Slifer approached him.
" return the cards you stole and leave the island while you can."
At that Ryuga spat.
" and why should I take orders from a mere Slifer?
Chancelor Shepard answered that question while he and Dr. Crowler, an enraged one at that approached the disgraced trainee.
" simple, if any of our students here should happen to find out that you cheated your way to victory, well not even our disciplinary action squad would be enough against their rage, so might as well and save face."
Dr. Crowler made his own observation as he asked.
" there's still the matter as how Ryuga was able to cheat right under my nose of all things"
At that Jaden gestured towards Ryuga's ring stating.
" it's a signal jammer built into it right slick?!"
All Ryuga could do as this point is to murmur before he confessed to the people present.
" the Slifer is right….."
Jaden caught it but he pretended as though he didn't as he was about to ask again however Dr. Crowler stopped him.
" enough of that, just make sure this miserable cheat leaves the island."
Jaden agreed.
" sounds like a plan but first you're returning the cards you stole."
With that said and done the students Jaden brought with him began pouring in to the actual arena to get their cards back. A few minutes passed by quickly as the
last student who came to claim his card was none other than Syrus Truesdale, at this point though Ryuga tried to pretend like he didn't have Power Bond on him
however Jaden wa too fast for him as the Slifer nicked the card from the disgraced trainee as he returned it.
" here you go Sy, just try not to make a habit out of this"
Syrus nodded while sheepishly replying.
" sure thing bro."
At this moment Dr. Crowler practically screeched in their ears.
" don't you two slackers still have homework and classes to get to?!"
Chancellor Shepard nodded to them that he and Crowler had everything in hand as both Jaden and Syrus left the arena to get to the next class, or in our hero's case
the next opportunity to take an unscheduled nap. As the day continued Shepard an Crowler with a few security staff as well were waiting with Ryuga for the boat
to the mainland, as said vessel docked Ryuga began walking towards it as Crowler stopped him.
" leave your jacket behind it' school property."
Ryuga begrudgingly complied as he tossed the jacket towards Crowler as he boarded the ship thinking to himself.
' mark my words Slifer, I'll make you pay one way or the other….'
The school day passed slowly even with Jaden's naps especially when the fact that summer vacation was fast approaching made it seem so much slower already. As
Syrus spoke Jaden was zoning out until Syrus asked him a question that he didn't catch.
" what was the question again?"
Knowing his bro and best friend Syrus sighed as he asked again.
" are you going to keep me up at night with all the naps you've taken?"
At that Jaden laughed and deflected.
" c'mon Sy, you know me better than that."
Syrus sighed in defeat.
" yeah….. I do unfortunately…"
before the bit can stretch on any further Jaden's PDA came to life as a message appeared on screen reading.
' take a look ahead of you'
Both Jaden and Syrus did as they were told as they both saw a figure in a distance, one all too familiar to a certain hero as his best friend asked.
" who is that?"
Jaden gave Syrus a dopey grin as he stated.
" my dad."
Syrus at that reacted underwhelmingly, well at first.
" oh… wait a minute!, did you just say dad?!"
As Gordon "Gordo" Yuki came closer and closer to the two Jaden relaxed into a comfortable silence as he greeted his dad as such.
" so how are you old man?"
Gordon at that ruffled his son's hair for a bit.
" I'm maybe an old man to you but I'm not hard of hearing yet."
After Messing his son's hair just enough Gordon addressed the smaller Slifer with an easy going smile and an even easier attitude.
" Syrus Truesdale right?, Gordon 'Gordo' Yuki, thanks for being Jaden's best friend… that means a lot to both to all of us Yuki's"
At that Syrus tried to be both humble and polite.
" you're welcome but it's nothing really… in fact I owe a lot more to him than he does to me."
With that Syrus tried to excuse himself and give the father and son duo some quality time as Gordon's smile grew.
" you're not intruding at all, tell you what, why don't you boys show me around the island and campus?"
jaden knew exactly where his father was going with this as a sweat drop formed at the back of Jaden's head.
" you still don't trust my sense of direction do you?"
At that Gordon smirked as he lightly teased.
" well I'm not the one who got himself lost on his way to the bathroom."
Jaden grumbled to himself as his dad playfully chuckled.
" it only happened one time….. so can we please move on from that…. Please….."
Gordon just gave him a playful smirk as they began touring the island, Jaden retelling some of his adventures, his more tame ones naturally, as they circled back towards the main campus while Syrus stated.
" well I've done enough walking for a week….. catch you later Jay."
Jaden replied with.
" sure thing Sy."
As soon as Syrus was out of ear shot Jaden asked nonchalantly.
" is this more than a social visit?"
Gordon replied with the same nonchalant attitude, speaking in a manner of fact tone.
" your chancellor contacted me and mom."
Jaden at hearing that became visibly worried and sheepish as all he could utter out was.
" oh boy…..I'm in trouble now….. "
Noticing this Gordon began rubbing Jaden's back softly as he stated.
" don't go and blow it out of proportion, Shepard says that you're a promising and talented duelist with areas which you can improve in."
Curious Jaden asked.
" improve how?"
As the two entered the campus Gordon simply replied.
" we'll find out tomorrow."
By this point Chancellors Shepard met them half way through the main hall as the larger and older man greeted them with a warm smile.
" thank you for accepting my invitation, I understand that Mrs. Yuki would be arriving tomorrow morning?"
Gordon replied warmly.
" yes, well unfortunately something urgent came up at work."
Chancellor Shepard related.
" say no more and follow me, I'll show you to the guest room"
Gordon gestured as he answered.
" lead the way"
As the group left Chancelor Shepard led the father and son duo towards the Obelisk boys dorm, or as Jaden would put it, the island's mansion for the rich and shameless. As the trio arrived to one hell of a spacious room with one hell of a view of the forest Gordon immediately checked the mattress as Shepard asked.
" is there something wrong?"
Gordon at that smiled as he reassured his host.
" not at all I was just checking how hard the matress was, I don't want my back injuries flaring up."
Chancellor Shepard didn't miss a beat as he offered.
" not a problem, I'll have someone take care of it right away."
Gordon at that turned to Jaden as his son asked/stated.
" you need me to clear out so you could talk behind my back?"
Gordon's only reply was.
" yep"
Jaden immediately left as Chancelor Shepard tried to contain the laughter and mirth that threatened to surface up as he noted.
" he's a lot sharper than he lets on."
Gordon sighed as he replied back.
" if only that would translate into his academics as well."
Shepard gave a confident smile.
" as long as I run this show that's my top priority besides….."
Gordon got curious as Shepard finished his sentence.
" it's the least I could do since your boy helped me and this school on more than one occasion."
Right at this moment Chancelor Shepard got an alert that the boat to take Mr. Ryuga towards the mainland has docked, excusing himself the headmaster left as Gordon remained behind to soak in the atmosphere as Jaden returned about an hour later with the harder mattress in hand.
" I'm back… oh! My back…"
Gordon smirked at his son's antics as he asked.
" you want mom to give you a massage for that aching back of yours?"
At that Jaden straightened up right away with a twinge of fear in his voice saying.
" no I'm fine thanks."
The two at this point shared a hearty laugh as they replaced the matress, a few minutes later the father and son duo were relaxing on the balcony as Jaden deadpanned asked.
" how angry is she?"
Gordon ran his hand through his son's hair as he stated.
" I'll leave that to your imagination."
Jaden winced as he had an expression that read ' this bad huh?!' as he instead comcluded the conversation with.
" good talk dad…. Good talk."
As the afternoon began to set on the island Jaden eventually got up as he asked the old man.
" I'm going fishing, do you want to join?"
Gordon gave him a warm and playful smile as he rested his arm on his son's shoulder.
" sure why not, I'll even take the opportunity to teach you a trick I know."
Jaden at that smiled back stating.
" sweet."
