Hina loved her life on Destiny Island. If you would have asked her eighteen years ago, she would have said the big city was better. But it wasn't the life for her, the stress of her job eating at her every day, the countless amount of children she had to watch, and people who didn't care about what she thought, let alone did for them, the numerous sacrifices she made to keep them happy.
However on Destiny Island, none of those problems existed in her daily life, she had friends who respected her as a person, and a job as a lifeguard that kept her energetic and free. She even had a perfect son, Sora who even got to enjoy his life to the fullest, every day just felt perfect. There was just a feeling of happiness in her life that made this tiny world of hers so fulfilling. She didn't know if it was the endless hours of sun on her skin, the cool, salty breeze of the ocean tickling her nose, her life just seemed so perfect, and nothing could run it.
Hina loved days like those, it made the bliss of seeing her son every day feel special. Sora was able to make the bad memories of her past drift away, letting her focus on the important things in her life. Keeping her son happy, and their family smile ever brighter. People kept telling her she gotta be more ambitious with her life, and have a bigger goal than being a single attractive mom.
Those comments made Hina feel sad, she hated feeling sad, it was the one emotion she wished was purged from her body and mind. Happiness was all she needed, and she needed to focus on what she loved to feel happy and fulfilled. If it meant she was a mom, and nothing more, then she was happy with that. After all, her life before the beautiful islands wasn't too good anyway.
Thankfully today was nothing but blue skies and comforting white clouds. The view of the sea was so breathtaking from her kitchen table, sure the living room view was nice, but if she wanted to see her lively town then the kitchen just couldn't be beaten, honestly the ocean was a lovely sight to behold as well. Plus she could see Sora row away to the town's play island where he and the other kids had fun which always put a smile on her face.
"Maybe I'll pay Sora, and the others a visit today, it'll be a lovely surprise, and maybe I'll get to show off my new swimsuit." Hina shouted, as the sound of footsteps could be heard above, as Hina turned her head to see an array of spiky brown hair that looked similar to her hair. Sora was coming down the stairs, most likely to greet her and have a little breakfast before Riku, and Kairi came over.
"Hey sweetie, you look cheerful as always, something fun going on at the play island today?" Hina asked, flashing her son one of the family's big toothy grins. Sora flashed her an even bigger grin, as he walked into the kitchen, pulling out a couple of cups, and some fruit.
"Today's the day, Me, Riku, and Kairi are gonna finish that raft we've been working on, and I'm just too excited about it. So I am just happy that all of our hard work is gonna pay off. The chance to see other worlds is gonna be so much fun, and maybe I'll get to see some of the worlds from those stories you used to tell me as a kid." Sora replied as he started putting a couple of spoons of coffee grounds into their coffee maker, letting the machine run after adding some water and proceeding to carefully start cutting some bananas, apples, and other fruit into bite-sized pieces for him and his mom.
"Why do you keep making me breakfast, it's like you're spoiling me. Please tell me you spoil your future girlfriend the same way you do your mom." Hina teased, as Sora tried hiding the small facial blush at the comment. Hina loved teasing her son, it was just a delight to see her perfect son think about his future, as Hina looked over to see Sora continue to cook, hiding his red face, giggling at the idea of his mom's comment and the idea of a girlfriend.
Hina's mouth started to water at the smell of the strong bitter drink, and the sweet fruit roaming through her kitchen. Sora gently placed some bowls of fruit on their table, Hina quickly grabbed one of the familiar star-shaped fruits, and popped it into her mouth, as the sweet pineapple-like juice was a delightful way to start her morning.
Sora proceeded to pour a cup of coffee in front of her, Hina gently blew on the cup, smiling as the strong aroma of the coffee thrilled her for the rush of caffeine she was about to feel. Making Hina giggle a little, Sora may have been sixteen, but Hina still found it hard to believe at times that her little boy was slowly becoming an adult, it only felt like yesterday, she was playing hide and seek with him.
That was the best thing to come out of her parenting. The feeling that her son was growing up into a wonderful person, and she was able to make that happen. She wanted to giggle a little, show her father that she did something good with her life, and show her students that she made an impact on her life.
Hina gently took a sip of her coffee, as a knock on their door signaled the arrival of Riku and Kairi. The children she thought of as her own family, and if it wasn't for Kairi having feelings for the silver-haired teen, she would have adopted them on the spot. But that wasn't gonna let her down, as she smiled at the idea that never became a reality. But she was happy with them as good friends, it was close enough to the perfect family.
"I'll get the door!" Sora announced, putting his cup of coffee and a half-eaten bowl of fruit on the counter, as he walked to the door, letting the other teens inside the small house. Hina looked over to see her favorite visitors, it had been a few years since the trio were together once Destiny Island had expanded from a small island town to a decently-sized city, making the trio's reunion a treat.
"Aunt Hina, we're back! Did you miss us or what?" Kairi yelled in delight at seeing the brown-haired woman again. In one instance, Kairi had made it to the dining room table and hugged the taller woman.
Riku stood in the doorway towering over them all, the two of them had grown up so much, in the three years they'd been away. Kairi had grown her hair out and decided to be more flashy in her attire, wearing a simple white dress, and pink sweater with a pair of blue jeans. While Riku has longer hair that seemed to look more normal than the Auburn girl just with blue baggy pants, and a belt that barely connected the foolish pants to a white shirt that showed off his muscular figure.
"I missed you guys too, my gosh Riku, what has Mr. Yoma been feeding you, you look like you've gained more than a couple of feet, like seriously you look like you're trying to become a bodybuilder or something." Hina yelled as the silver-haired teen walked over into the kitchen, making Kairi blush at her "boyfriend's" appearance.
"Me and Yoma have been doing construction for the past three years, and I guess I've been overdoing it." Riku said modestly, not wanting to make a big deal about his appearance to his aunt. Kairi was smiling, at the sight of her friend, while Sora was laughing, at the sight of everyone.
"Things have surely changed around the islands haven't they, Riku, and Kairi together, the town expanding, everything feels so different nowadays," Sora said, rubbing his spiky hair, letting the warm sun beam onto it. Hina nodded in agreement, everyone could grow, change and be a new person, but those who lived on the beach side of Destiny Islands were happy with the simple everyday life.
"You know, maybe you should come to the big city! I'm just it, do you and Hina some good Sora?" Kairi declared, grabbing a cup out of the pantry, so she could have a cup of coffee. Hina and Sora looked at each other for a minute, then proceeded to laugh at the thought.
"I don't think we'd be too excited about being in the city, maybe for a couple of days, 'cause Kairi you make it sound like you want us to live up there. Sorry but me and Sora are happy here, maybe the idea of living in another world sounds fun. But no way are we living in the city." Hina responded, flashing the girl a sad smile, sure she could have said yes, but Hina knew the real meaning behind Kairi's words. It was no secret the Mayor wanted to expand the islands even more, and Hina was against the idea of her beloved home and view taken from her.
Part of her wanted to move to another world and escape this path, she was content with the beauty of the sea, and the people around it, not the new destiny island that this town was becoming. Although it was best to pack up in the future, after all, she had friends who could help her understand what to do. After all, she had a few friends who said she was welcome in any world, even if she'd have to fight some higher power. Maybe Queen Athena and her husband would be kind enough to let her stay?
"Oh well, I tried! I'll let Dad know you're still not interested." kairi said letting out a defeated sigh, knowing it was a pain having to be the middle ground between Hina and her father.
"Come on guys, enough of this madness, let's get that raft done so we can go exploring other worlds. It'll do you some good Kairi besides Mom's coming over to the island later. Ain't that right Mom, you mentioned something about a swimsuit." Sora said, grinning at his Mother, knowing full well the older Hinazaki woman couldn't ignore the chance to show off to the world.
"Sora's right, let's get to building that raft, after all. It's not like we'll be together forever. So I say let's make the most of our time together." Riku said, picking Kairi up, Sora followed behind closing the door as Hina watched the teens through her window, popping a strawberry into her mouth. Today was gonna be a good day, she could feel it.
Suddenly a crunching noise could be heard as Hina quickly looked over to her living room, as her eyes widened at the figure sitting on her couch, causally eating out of a bag of popcorn, like he was invited into her life, into her world, like he wasn't the sole cause of her pain and regrets for her childhood.
"What are you doing here?" Hina screamed, as she stood up, summoning her keyblade, and turned to look at the ghost from her past, the sinister black outfit that made her skin crawl, knowing only two people wore outfits like those. The man; however, said nothing, he was content to eat his popcorn, he didn't look at her, nor the shining keyblade that he gave her, that he trained, nay commanded her to use for his gain.
"Why are you here, I swear to Kingdom Hearts, if you even think about hurting my son, I'll end you here and now!" Hina declared, as the man finally looked at her, stood up rubbing his greasy fingers on his jacket, and proceeded to put on a pair of black leather gloves.
"Is that any way to take to your master, my little Fox? Surely I thought you manners first before violence, after all, you were smarter than Aced in that department at least. I'm not here for your son, so drop the Best Mom of the World act, little Robin, and Alyssia, would be rolling over in their graves if they could hear you right now." The Master spoke as he watched his former student, her eyes were furiously looking at the Master, he dared to comment about her beloved students. The children she helped raise and trained for his stupid war, the kids she buried because of her foolish beliefs in trusting him.
"I'll ask you again, why are you here?" Hina said, as her hand shook, holding the keyblade doing her best not to lash out against the monster in front of her, and destroy her house. The Master was a man of pure evil, Hina might have been the last one to notice that, probably because of the other foretellers dying before her, but she knew during the downfall of Daybreak town that the Master didn't care about them, how many times did he give away his malice, and need to sacrifice his students. The Keyblade War, the time when Daybreak town was overrun by zombies due to their carelessness, the time he made her fight Aced while Pregnant knowing full well, her and Gula were anticipating Sora, any time now.
"I'm here to leave you with a message, Ava! So I'd advise you to listen and listen well. After all, tonight is the night of fate, so my greedy little Fox, I want you and your son to stay out of my way, I have big plans for the future, and advise you not to intervene." The Master said, making Hina laugh at the pure stupidity of his request. The fool was really expecting her to sit by and let this madman do god knows what with Kingdom Hearts, and any form of death and destruction he could get his hands on.
"Yeah, I don't think so, I think I'm gonna go back to enjoying my day, rock my swimsuit, and once I've beaten the Night of Fate, Sora and I are gonna find you and kick your ass. So get comfy Master, 'cause I'm not the same little girl you trained." Hina declared as she turned away from the Master, preparing to have a good day, and show how that man, she wasn't a person to be messed with, after all, Ava was a greedy little fox, and her love was the truest form of greed in the whole universe.
