Hello everyone, its been awhile I know. I've been quite busy with a lot of stuff in the last few months. School has gotten rather nuts and the fact I only started college is quite the stressful time.
Anyway I came here today to post a story that I've had on my mind for a few months now so I do hope you enjoy it
The first 3 chapters I have are coming up soon so expect that
Without further ado let's get things started
Family gatherings aren't really something I'm that big of a fan of, and not to be rude or anything but.
It's mainly because of my cousins
They aren't mean or spoiled or anything; it's just they can be rather…excitable at times. They squeal, they cry, they run around all over the place. So when we gather for a birthday party I'm the one on their phone just trying to tune out the noise that sounds out.
"Mommy Mommy look! Bluey is on"
…my point exact
"Now sweetie calm down and we can watch it" my aunt says as I sit on the couch trying to calm my little cousin down. Bluey is one of their favorite cartoons, they may have a few more favorites but I don't know it seems to change with every passing day. Anyway my cousin sits down on the couch I'm on right as the uptempo music starts playing and the Heeler family plays a game of freeze dance.
"Mum, Dad, Bingo…Bluey!" My cousin cheers as he dances along with the music that plays during the whole game of musical statues.
When I agreed to stay here while my parents went on a business trip, I don't think this is what I had in mind. I just…can't communicate with my cousins at all. Not really into the same things they are, not to mention I'm 18 when they aren't even 10 yet. I know I have my phone and all so I can easily contact my parents and all but they won't be back for at least a few more days. At this point I might as well be a babysitter.
"Hey Tyler can you watch tv with your cousin for a few minutes, I'd greatly appreciate it" my aunt says as she enters the kitchen while I give a silent nod of my head and start watching the episode that I can't seem to remember the name of for the life of me
This was gonna be a long day wasn't it
Later that night
"Mom? I don't understand, why did you bring that here?"
…
"WHAT?! A-are you sure?"
…
"B-but mom we are cat people! We can't handle that!"
…
"I get that it needs us but we can't-"
FLASH
I was on the couch trying to get myself comfy and be able to fall asleep, even changing into my night clothes wasn't helping me sleep. I lay on my sides, I lay on my back, and I even lay on my belly, but I just simply couldn't go to sleep. I sit up and stretch, before
going to the kitchen to get myself a bottle of water. As I open the fridge grabbing one of the bottles, I hear a thud and then…static?
That's right, static like the kind where the tv is doing cause broken or bad connection. I look towards the living room noticing that it's gotten a bit brighter, given the noise it can only be one thing and that thing is the tv.
"...hello?...Is someone there?" I say slowly walking towards the living room and then peek inside looking around the place. All the tv showed was as mentioned before and it didn't seem like anything had changed so…why was the tv on then?
"Whimper…whimper" I hear from under the coffee table, why would there be whimpering? There were no pets here. Against my better judgment I slowly walked over bracing myself for a wild animal or coyote or something like that, this was the countryside, so those species were common here.
However, it was none of those things but rather…a blue puppy.
No no there was not something in my drink as it was sealed but that didn't change the gasp that came out of my mouth. The gasp only got the pup's attention and made her (I could tell by the sound of her voice) whimper more and back away with tears in her eyes and even gasp back.
"S-stay away!" the pup says covering her eyes which started leaking even more tears. I notice that her voice has an Australian accent to it. I hold my hands up away from her trying to not appear threatening.
"Whoa hey there…I'm not-" I don't have time to finish my sentence as the pup on all fours runs right by me from under the table.
"Don't hurt me you monster!" she shouts at me running away, I stand up and start to go after her trying to calm her down so she doesn't wake up the others. How am I supposed to explain to my family that a blue puppy dog was running around in the house?
Not exactly a thing you would see unless you had too much sugar.
I chase the pup into the kitchen and manage to corner her cause to the left is a countertop and in front of her is the fridge. Realizing that she can't go anywhere she turns around looking up at me and curls closer to the ground, making her even smaller.
then she already was. She then starts to cry squeezing herself into a ball probably wishing she was anywhere but right in front of me.
"Hey hey…I'm not gonna hurt you…" I say reaching my hand out but it only causes her to back away more from me. I retract my hand and put it to my chin wondering how I can calm her down…I wasn't exactly the best with children. Eventually an idea comes to my head, I start to hum a little relaxing tune to see if that would help. It takes a bit but she slowly uncovers her eyes and starts to hum a song of her own, she eventually looks into my eyes and wipes the tears from hers.
"See?" I hold my hand out again and she looks at her own, she then holds hers out and our hands make contact with one another.
"Who…who are you?" she finally talks to me, taking her hand back, I sigh in relief and give her a smile.
"I'm Tyler…and who may you be?" I sit crisscross in front of her and she fiddles her thumbs a little before looking up at me again.
"I'm Bluey…nice to meet you Tyler" she says making my eyes widen but thankfully I hold back the gasp this time…Bluey…THE Bluey?!...I then facepalm because it seemed so obvious with the behavior from the tv and then the fact that a blue puppy was genetically impossible.
"Why were you under the table?" I decided to get straight to the point and see if she knew anything about what happened, but it seems like it makes her uncomfortable and like she's trying very very hard to think.
"I don't know" she finally admits and rubs her shoulder. "I was at the park with my Mum, Dad, and my sister and then there was this big flash of light" she holds out her arms to express how big it was which I nod at getting the idea.
"So, you don't know how you ended up in my aunt's house?" I ask her and she nods again before starting to cry again, probably missing her family. If i was in her shoes-err paws I would feel the same way, must be scary to be in an unfamiliar place not with your parents. I reach to her and place my hand on her shoulder to comfort her, she notices what I'm doing and just walks over and gives me a hug. I'm a bit caught off guard by the sudden hug, but I just pat her on the head letting her give the hug.
This was gonna be an interesting night.
Throughout the night
It took a bit of time, but I was able to help Bluey get comfortable and even let her watch some cartoons on my phone, causing her to laugh happily and clap her paws. We also play a quiet board game to make her happy which seems to be working. I also get her a apple to get some food in her belly and she likes that as well. Overall despite being in a completely different world to ours she seems to be having a good time.
"Tyler" Bluey says to get my attention and I look at the pup who's currently in my lap at the moment.
"Yes Bluey?" I tilt my head as I position myself to lay down on the couch, causing Bluey to now be on my belly looking at me.
"Do you think I can get home?" she asks me with those puppy dog eyes making me practically tear up just by looking at them. I sigh and pet her on the head.
"I don't know Bluey…we have no idea on how you got here or who brought you here" I say honestly, that doesn't seem to be the answer she wanted, and it only makes her start to cry again.
"Bluey don't worry, regardless we will still find a way to get you back home to your family" I reassure her and that makes her sniffle and start to smile again. Then, however she yawns rubbing her eyes making me smile softly.
"But for now, let's get you to bed little pupper" I set her on the reclining chair that's next to the couch and turn the lever to make the chair recline back. Then I put a blanket over her and put a pillow underneath her head.
"Night night Bluey" I say petting her one more time before returning to the couch and pulling my own blanket over me. She looks at me one more time then closes her eyes with a smile.
"Goodnight Tyler" she says going to sleep, I make myself comfy so I can join her in the world we call the world of dreams.
That had to be one of the best sleeps I've ever had.
The next morning
I wake up with a yawn and rub my eyes. The sun was peering through the window signifying the arrival of morning time. I look over towards the reclining chair and my face immediately falls. Instead of the blue pup, there was nothing but the blanket and the pillow that I had left for her to use for sleepy time.
"Bluey?...Bluey?" I call out before standing up and start to search for the pup. I check the kitchen, under the table, and even in the bathroom and bedrooms. However, no one was there. Looks like my family went out again leaving me home alone for the time being, not the first time and I've even willingly stayed home alone on a lot of occasions so I could do my own thing. I think they let me sleep in today.
"Was…was it all a dream?" I wonder to myself with a hand on my head trying to figure this out. Was it a dream…no no it couldn't have been I mean why else would the blanket and pillow I put out for Bluey still be there? Not only that the events that had occurred last night felt way too real to be some sort of silly dream, I was also feeling sad cause even though it was for a hour or two it felt nice to actually interact with Bluey…she was just a little bundle of innocence with a tad bit of mischief if I were to remember some of the events of the show.
"Okay…just…calm down" I get myself a cup of OJ and relax on the couch to try and clear my head. Thinking about all this was just gonna give me nothing but a big headache. I grab the remote and turn on the tv, the thing that started it all. The moment it turns on it seems to be in the middle of a Bluey episode which just makes me even more emotional at the fact the pup was gone but then…things got weird. Bluey wakes up on a bench in the park that they go and play to a lot in a lot of episodes, she looks around and she immediately gets off the bench and runs to find her mom and dad.
:Mum! Dad! Bingo!" she shouts, and the screen pans off to the three names mentioned who seem to have been looking for her. All three of them tear up before running towards the blue pup.
"BLUEY!" all three of them say in unison before they practically grab her in a group hug and don't let go. After the hug they all started to ask questions
"You're not hurt, are you?" her dad says holding her and looking at her body to check for any scratches and bruises.
"Where on earth did you go?" her mom says not wanting to let go of her firstborn at all.
"Did you run away Bluey?" Bingo, her sister says who seems to be tearing up the most, makes sense since Bluey is her sister.
Bluey looks away for a moment when her family gives her a moment to breath wondering what to say "I don't know…I was in a weird place and a person named Tyler fed me and gave me a blanket" she says with her hands behind her back, seems like she's thinking the same thing I am wondering if our meeting was real or was it a fantasy made up by our brains. Her family is left confused by her remark, but her mom is the first to break the silence.
"Do you know where this "Tyler" is?" she asks, kneeling to Bluey's level while putting a hand on her back. Bluey looks around the park one more time and then looks down on the ground.
"no…I don't know where he is" she admits, actually starting to cry at the loss of a new friend. Her mom nods her head and grabs her hand.
"Let's head home sweetie, you must be starving" she says and then they start to leave the park, Bluey however is still with her eyes on the ground with a few stray tears.
That's when the episode ends with the outro. I was not satisfied with that.
No…no no no!" I go up to the screen and press my hands against it, I didn't care how weird this look I didn't want her to be sad. However, despite my plea the tv does nothing, it a fit of anger I hit the tv making it spark a tad bit. The screen starts to glow again to the point it starts to cover the room.
I don't even have time to shout.
