Knock. Knock. "Who's there?" "Boo." "Boo who." "It's just a joke, why're you crying?" Sans noticed the lady on the other side of the door wasn't laughing, "Hey, what's wrong? Was it that bad?" "Can you promise to keep this conversation, just inbetween us?" Sans stomach dropped, "I- I promise." It wasn't the first promise he made to Toriel, and after the protect any human promise, how bad could this be?
"Two humans came underground today." "Two!" Sans all but screamed in shock, in order to get shushed from the lady behind the door. "A young man and a young child. The child is mute." "So you need my help learning hands?" "No, there's something else. Something concerning about these humans. They didn't fall, they climbed and are in protective gear." "Protective gear?" "Helmet, padding, and I think a bullet proof vest. Like they expect to be attacked." "Good to be prepared." "That's what bothers me, they know about the other humans. I don't know why they're here. Do I block them from leaving?"
Sans sighed. It turns out either way, he needed to stay alert at his station today, "What weapons do they have?" "The young one has a gun and the older one has a machete and threatened a froggit with it. The young one is trusting, but the older one is suspicious."
"Talk to them. Figure out why they're here. It may be an ambush. If the one only threatened, they may be okay to come through." Sans sighed, "If they're soldiers, they may be able to get through anyway. It may be wise to not pick a fight."
"Okay. Can you promise me something else? I'm so sorry, I know how you feel about these." "What is the promise?" "If they come through, don't let them get separated. I fear it will distress the older one." "I- I promise." Sans was waiting for the inevitable at his station. If you asked Sans if humans scared him any other day, the answer would be no. But two humans who are trained to kill, that was a scary thought.
