When Omori saw Undyne in Waterfall, he shouted, "Come here and fight, I'm not dealing with a crazy lady chasing me." Undyne was happy to oblige. "Which one of you want me to rip the soul out of their body?"
Omori stood in front of Frisk. "I'll fight you. My friend is too young to die." "Very well then." Omori was tossed a spear which he dodged bullets with precisely.
Sans was watching with caution. He would love to intervene. Someone will die here, but what can he do? Two soldiers fighting is a terrifying thought.
The kid, as expected, didn't run. He wasn't going to spare. His only hope was both would get exhausted.
Frisk ran. "Frisk!" Omori started dodging spears while running after his friend. "Get back here!" Undyne yelled.
Surprisingly they made it to Hotland which Undyne fainted. Frisk gave her water. "She didn't deserve that water." 'Be nice.' Frisk commanded. "I'll try." Omori said. "I'm just scared." Omori didn't add the for you. He was still nervous, but they made it this far. And this tough act was so draining. But he would show no weakness.
Frisk wanted to go through the lab. Omori followed slowly behind them. Alphys was up front with Mettaton. "Welcome to today's show, two humans are here in Hotland. Who would've guessed. Now let's take those helmets off." Mettaton was shocked when his hand was slapped away with a shake of the head. "No, why not?"
Scared of the robot's intentions, Omori grabbed Frisk and ran, leaving behind a confused Mettaton.
They made it to the judgment hall after Frisk gently convinced Vulkin to stand in the corner. They were stopped by Sans.
"Humans. Frisk and Omori. It is time for your judgment. You will be judged based on all the EXP or execution points you accumulated. They make up your LOVE or level of violence. The more LOVE you earn, the more distant you are because the less you will hurt.
Now, it is time to begin your judgment." Sans pointed at Frisk, "You have no LOVE. Which is good. Meanwhile, you Omori must be judged from where you started when you entered. You have gained no LOVE. I appreciate that, as if you two wanted, you could have ended us. Good job." That was the best the monsters could hope for, with soldiers around. "Heya, something is bothering me. Why did you come down here?" "That is for the King." Omori looked over Sans, before taking his helmet off. Sans saw plain black hair that could use a good brushing. And angry, uninterested eyes. He didn't want to be here.
Frisk followed their friend's lead and took their helmet off, they had kind eyes, full of compassion and hope. "That's interesting." Sans noted. "See ya guys." Sans teleported away, not guarding the ability as much.
Asgore was watering his flowers when two humans entered. He was warned. They had their helmets in their arms. "Humans." "Let us talk first." Omori commanded, almost feeling sure of himself now. "We came to inform you the barrier is broken." 'There are soldiers surrounding it.' "Oh, I see." Asgore knew hands from having Sans employed. Sans would use it, for deaf people who needed judgment.
"We want to take the monsters up one by one. You and the Royal Guard first. You are known as the most hostile towards humans." "Oh, okay."
'We want to let you on the surface. With some conditions.' "What conditions?" "No more killing humans, the Royal Guard and sentries may recieve some punishment. Citizens will have to relearn the history of humans."
"Let me discuss it with my people."
Sans was relaxing when a mandatory meeting came through the phone. "I just got off." Sans moaned. "Paps, I have to go." Sans yelled with a louder voice then his usually was. "It's important. I could be gone for a while." "Okay, Sans." Papyrus was used to Sans having to disappear for reasons unknown to him. That was part of his job.
Sans saw Undyne and waved. "Hey." Undyne pushed Sans up front. "Did you forget to report something?" "Uh no."
Asgore invited everyone in. They all sat down, Sans eye sockets darkening when he saw the two humans beside Asgore. What did they do?
"These two humans tell me the barrier has been broken. After checking myself, this is true. They came to inform us of the news." Asgore saw hope in his soldiers' eyes. "However, there are soldiers guarding the barrier as we are known as the most hostile towards humans." Sans sockets darkened again. "They have some conditions. I will not pressure you either way. Humans."
'Put your helmet on Frisk. Ambush.' Sans put his hands behind his back and signaled his comrades to do so after catching it. Reluctantly, everyone followed his lead, after Undyne elbowed the guard beside her to do so, after doing so herself.
He put his head down, and everyone followed his lead. They may not know what Sans was doing, but they knew when Sans said do something, it's best to do it. The humans put their helmets on.
Omori walked up front, "If we may, we want to examine you for weapons." People looked to Sans on what to do. Why was he the expert all the sudden? "Captain Undyne?" "Yes, you may. I have spears." Asgore sighed, "I have a trident." "Axes." Dogressa and Dogamy chimed in.
"Place them in front of you." The guard did as asked, before Omori examined for stray weapons. Sans was annoyed when he was told to take his jacket off due to strings. "Sure." Was it really that much of a threat? Asgore sat beside Sans, which was the only empty seat.
Sans was mandated to sit closest to humans in case something went awry, and no one who wasn't mandated would dare do that. If Sans had to intervene, it was bad. Only few knew this was why Sans sat upfront. There just happened to be an extra chair beside him. No one was going to risk that, if not required.
"The Royal Guard and sentries will be punished for the death of many humans if you go up there." "Same thing." Sans mumbled to be elbowed hard by Asgore.
"We would like to take you one by one.
For those of you who have children or friends, civilization will have to be reeducated to not harm humans. That would be a required thing for all of you."
Asgore slowly stood up. These were soldiers and they were expected to return. A sudden fight would bring choas to this part of the Underground. "Who is for this?" Sans slowly put his hand up, "Best we're going to get." "You always want to take the easy way out! What if it is an ambush?" Undyne yelled. "I want proof it's not." "You're alive." Omori stated. "If not for orders, you wouldn't be." "You little punk!" Sans pushed Undyne down. "I can go first." Sans mumbled.
Somehow everyone agreed to that. Or that could be because many thought Sans was expendable. "Alright."
Sans was led up by Frisk while Omori insisted on staying behind. It was a long walk. Sans was startled by the amount of soldiers the humans had. Were some monsters? "Explain." Sans demanded. 'You were the last to be informed. Deemed too dangerous.' Sans sighed, while he complied with an apparently mandated search. He was glad he left his jacket behind.
"Head on the ground and keep your hands where we can see them." A gruff voice demanded. Sans put his head on the dirt and hands behind his back. "Any sudden movements, and we will draw our weapons."
Sans expected this. They were known as dangerous. Of course precautions will be made. "Frisk, get the next one." Oh, he wasn't handcuffed. They're giving leeway.
Frisk took Undyne to the surface next. "Why is he on the ground?" She yelled, about ready to grab Sans until the soldier pushed her down, "Precautions. We have a whole military coming up here. We will not allow genocide. Either cooperate or be restrained." "Fine." Undyne mumbled. She was not going to risk her people's freedom for some dignity.
Sans heard the first spiel with Dogressa and Dogamy. He hoped Papyrus wouldn't be too upset about him coming to the surface first. He always imagined him and his brother seeing the surface together. Sure Sans had seen it before, but Papyrus hadn't and now he was up here without him. Although, he suspects Papyrus' arrival won't require a shower as he is a civilian.
And this is what he knew he was subjected to. There could be more and he will be punished. He may get a harsher one as he killed a human.
After the whole Royal Guard and Asgore had their heads in the dirt, the gruff voiced soldier said something besides the hands where we can see them spiel. "All the Royal Guard is here. I will be taking names. Stand when tapped. Then go back to the way you are positioned now." Sans was tapped first. "Sans." "Undyne." "Dogressa." "Dogamy."
"Alright, all of you stand. One at a time when you get up. Hands behind head." All of them stood up. Sans saw first hand he was really dirty. He just wanted a shower, everyone stunk. No one was expecting this meeting to have their faces buried in the dirt.
"I know you were informed of the impending punishment. If you killed a human, step forward." Sans and Asgore walked forward.
"How many?" Sans was being addressed. "One." Sans watched it being written on a notepad. "Four." "What happened to the other one? I was informed about the human up here." The soldier looked at Asgore. "I can answer that. In the Ruins a human died." "Attacked or died." "My ex wife says they were attacked. She handed me the soul." "Excuse us." The soldier grabbed some comrades, careful to keep the Royal Guard guarded.
Sans felt uncomfortable and his hands were getting tired. How long can this take? And he knew if allowed, he would be tasked with helping civilians through the barrier.
"Should we punish her?" "She handed a soul. Most would be decimating a body. Is it worth it? Many killed." "What about bringing civilians to war? Someone attacked that human and the guard are here." "Let them off. They don't know better. Just punish the guard for now. It isn't worth tracking a monster no one may know." "Yes, sir." There was that salute.
The one soldier was back in front of Sans. He noticed he was a target of suspicion. He shouldn't have teleported in front of soldiers, it's biting him in the butt.
"Alright, you two, we'll spare the civilians. However, you two need to be punished. We aren't going to be giving a jail sentence. However, we need proof of willingness to work with humans.
Along with the community service all of you will be required to do, you two wilI not be allowed to use magic at all." That's it? He expected hell to rain on him. "Also the Royal Guard will not be allowed to use magic in public." Lucky them, Sans thought. "Reasonable."
People looked at Sans and Asgore. "If someone falsely reports." "We thought of that, you and Asgore will wear antimagic bracelets even you won't be able to get off.
The other Royal Guard will wear a temporary one. If your bracelets aren't on and someone reports magic use, it will be assumed you did so. Understood?" "Yes,sir." The Royal Guard echoed.
"Umm how long?" Sans dared to ask. "One year. If any one of you fails to meet requirements, it starts over. Sans and Asgore will not be pardoned if a requirement is failed to be met. They will instead be proven hostile. Any murder and you will be sent to prison. No more exceptions."
Sans was happy to be allowed to hold his wrist out for a bracelet to placed on his right wrist. "Don't you want to write?" "I'm left handed." "Of course you are." Where did that I'm watching you look come from? It wasn't that bad before he admitted his dominant hand was his left.
Asgore was permitted to inform his Kingdom that the barrier was broken. He instructed the monsters to let the humans through unprovoked.
Frisk knocked on the Ruins door. Toriel looked at the kid's face. "My child, where is your friend?" 'We split up.' "I'm sorry, I forgot you can't talk." Frisk just held out their piece of paper. "Oh, I see."
Toriel informed her companions who followed her. Frisk held up a finger. "One at a time."
Sans smiled when he saw Toriel. He wanted to say hello, but the Royal Guard was instructed to keep silent.
Toriel had magic on standby when she noticed how many soldiers were up there, and surrounding the other monsters in particular.
Sans was even more annoyed when his brother came up with the near adult boy. "Your brother can't talk at the moment. Stay here." After every monster was on the surface, and somehow felt the most crowded they did in their entire lives, the gruff soldier stood in front of them.
"While the Royal Guard has different rules, we have some conditions we wish civilians to meet. If you disagree, you are welcome back underground. We won't seal it again.
Now civilians will be required to watch a video on the history of humans to stop this propaganda. We also want murder of humans to end."
"Alright, you're free to leave." The soldiers left the monsters at the barrier. Papyrus met Sans, "Sans you're ridiculously dirty. All of you are." "Yeah. Had an agreement. Let's talk in a bit. We'll have to walk home. Gotta get some stuff."
"Worry not, I the Great Papyrus brought it along with your hoodie you clumsily left on the floor!" "Thanks bro."
When Sans and Papyrus were left in private, Sans spoke, "They aren't allowing me to use magic at all for one year." "That's a shame." "The Royal Guard who hasn't captured a human-" "Sans, I know what happens to the humans when they are captured." "Well, hasn't killed a human just aren't allowed to use magic in public for a year.
They can be pardoned with a start over. I cannot. Guess I gotta stop being lazy. This is going to be so inconvenient."
All the MT. Ebott monsters are gathered at a community center. The Royal Guard was first.
The video was obviously recently made. Humans talked about what happened with the Royal Kids. Sans felt sick watching this and Asgore had rage filled eyes.
Then the implications of murders and stealing souls was the next part. Humans believed in an afterlife and it relies on the soul. This made many monsters realize there are going to be angry humans. At least it made the guarding the soldiers were doing make sense. Well, part of the reason was they were Code X. Which just meant dangerous and to be careful.
Many humans avoided them. Monsters took most of the guarding spots. There were more monsters than MT. Ebott knew about. Not all had what they perceived as monster souls.
Some yellow, some dogs, some round, some mute, some hairy. Some looked nearly human, they had to accept that this is a thing. Maybe souls evolved over time?
Papyrus was disturbed by the required viewing. Sans waited for him to exit, in order to walk home together, despite two soldiers finding an excuse to stay behind and sit beside him.
Sans held Papyrus' and walked home with him. "So, they teaching you in driving school?" Sans wished he could be there, but due to his status all instructors refused to teach Papyrus if he showed up. And it took a while to find one that would teach Papyrus at all.
"Yes. I, the Great Papyrus, am working on telling traffic lights apart. Red means stop, green means go. The yellow light means stop if you can! I finally figured out this system."
"Just like walk and don't walk signs. Remember that, I almost got ran over because I didn't understand one.
At least I know soldiers are here for us now. One tackled me out of the way. That was rough." "Sans be careful! You can't rely on a friendly soldier. We go by intent!" "I don't mean to get ran over, bro. Sounds painful." Intent or no intent, that device was metal and will hurt.
"I wish I could shortcut." "Sans, it's only been a week. They gave us homes out of the kindness of their hearts." "Yep. I have to go to the soup kitchen later today. Then get up early and work my janitor job."
"You'll be fine. You need to walk more anyways." "How's the area outside treating you? Better than me?" "Sans." "I'm okay, bro. They're just worried because I am trained." "Sans they shoved you in a water bowl!" "That's called a toilet."
Sans was well aware of that day. He was walking to a restaurant with Papyrus after searching for instructors. When Papyrus was bringing food back to the table, he was yanked to a bathroom by his jacket strings. Now he saw how it could be used as a weapon.
He was pushed into a stall. He started screaming for help when his head was shoved into a thankfully non yellow filled toilet, filling his mouth with that disgusting fluid. He heard a noise and the water was swirling. Sans was trying to get out when Papyrus entered with a shocked lady. "Come any further and the guard dies." Sans was forced up by his eye sockets.
Before Sans could push the lady off him, magic forced the door out and another beam hit the lady, while Sans got his sockets back in order. Sans was glad after some heavy consideration and pleading, he got his eye socket hollowing counted as involuntary magic. It was, at times. That at times is what made soldiers wary. But they allowed it, after an hour of Sans pleading his case.
"You okay?" Sans felt weird when the human lady looked him over with her eyes. "Lay down. I need to check." Sans did as instructed. He was patted down head to toe. "You're fine. Your eyes hurt?" "A little." "I would see a doctor."
Last Sans heard the lady who did that to him was banned from the restaurant. They were also punished by law enforcement.
Sans got a evaluation on his psychology towards humans as his reward. "Surprisingly the same." Was what was said.
"Toilet or not, it's not okay!" "Someone helped." "What if- What if they didn't?" "I'd figure it out." "Sans. You get treated like scum by soldiers and by the outside area. When did you even go outside MT. City again, unless required?" Sans looked down. "That's what I thought." "I'll I'll meet up with you for lu- after work tomorrow bro." "Still not used to the walking takes longer thing?" "I'm not used to a lot. Getting a chair, which humans find amusing, apparently. Getting up to grab my stuff. It sucks. This year can't end fast enough."
"Sans, I know a monsters' magic can make hope feel less alive, if a monster can't use it. You were already struggling, brother." "I know. I'm not going anywhere, Pap." Sans grabbed Papyrus' hand. "I promise." That was one promise Sans could keep, no matter what.
