A/N; This story came to me after a discussion about FATAL aka Frankie and Tony Are Lovers on the Who's The Boss fan fic and video board on Facebook.
The acronym T.A.K.E.N. does mean something which I revealed at the end of the story.
And as always the lines from the show the credit goes to the writers!

"You've got quite a busy day. I mean furniture shopping at 2, wedding at 6, house hunting at 8, baby at 11!'
Mona's voice mocked him as he paced outside Father Marconi's office waiting for him to finish up with the young couple he was counseling before their upcoming marriage. He hoped they would be done soon because he really needed to talk to him. Ever since he had dinner with Kathleen and her Father he had felt uncomfortable and out of sorts. True, he had felt that way before he had gone over there but that was to be expected. Anytime you meet the parent of the person you're dating it is nerve wracking. But after a while things were okay and they actually had a nice dinner. But, it was afterward when Kathleen was in the kitchen and Tony was on the phone with Angela and then Billy that the uneasiness began.
After he had seen how he had handled Billy over the phone Kathleen's Father had told him how impressed he was. Tony was flattered but that quickly turned to surprise and anxiety when he informed him that he wanted Tony to father his grandchildren. "My biological clock is ticking!" He exclaimed, pounding on his chest. He then grabbed Tony's face complimenting him making him very uncomfortable. Luckily Kathleen had called Tony to come into the kitchen where she asked him how things were going. He told her things were going fine.
"Why was he stroking your face?" She asked with a confused grin.
Tony then told her what her Father had said about his biological clock. Kathleen had been livid and was about to go confront him when he stopped her. He told her that he understood how he felt because he wanted the same for Sam. He wanted her to find a nice man and then he went on to describe little kids at Christmas running around the tree with their faces lighting up. Kathleen had then thrown her arms around him claiming how happy she was.
Tony on the other hand was anything but. As he had driven home the evening kept playing through his mind. All it was supposed to have been was a simple dinner with Kathleen and her Father. It wasn't supposed to turn into a hey let's get married and have kids discussion! And Mona's lame comments certainly didn't help matters when he told Sam and her how the dinner had gone the next morning at breakfast. And then that's when his imagination went crazy.
He imagined Kathleen and him getting married.
Angela was there as the organist and soloist singing AVE MARIA.
He imagined them house hunting and coming to this house.
Angela was the real estate agent.
And to top it all off he imagined Kathleen having their baby and when the nurse brought their daughter out to the waiting room and placed her in Tony's arms…
Angela's face on the baby.
The whole thing had shook him up. What did all this mean? Why was he seeing Angela in all these scenarios? He knew he had to talk to someone. Someone who would give him an honest and objective opinion. Immediately his thoughts went to Father Marconi so he informed Sam and Jonathan that he would be out for a while and to take care of Billy until he got back. He then got in his jeep and drove to Brooklyn and was now waiting on pins and needles.
Finally after what seemed like a lifetime the door opened and Father Marconi came out with a young couple.
"Thank you so much for all your help Father." the man said.
"Yes, thank you." the woman smiled.
"You are very welcome. God Bless and take care."
They told him goodbye and then walked off with their arms around each other. Tony smiled to himself. They reminded him of Marie and himself. Young, happy, and in love. But his smile quickly faded when he recalled how happy Kathleen had told him she was the night before.
"Tony, it's good to see you."
"You too, Father."
"Please come on in."
They walked into his office and sat down.
"So Tony, what can I do for you?" Father Marconi asked, leaning forward, his hands folded on his desk.
Tony cleared his throat, his nerves all tangled up like Christmas tree lights. Christmas?! Little kids running around the tree. Kathleen telling him how happy she was.
"Well you see Father. I need your help and advice."
"That's what I figured since you're here." he smiled.
"Yeah." Tony chuckled nervously.
"So what is it? Is it Sam?"
Tony shook his head. "Oh, no she's fine. In fact she'll be going to Ridgemont soon." Tony said proudly.
"Sam is going to the same college as you?" Father Marconi raised his eyebrows.
"Yeah, I know. Crazy isn't it?"
"It is. But, that isn't why you're here is it?"
Tony sighed. "No, it isn't."
"Okay,"
"It's about Kathleen and me."
Father Marconi nodded and sat back. He had heard from Mrs. Rossini that Tony was dating her. And from what she had told him things seemed to be okay. But for some reason Tony looked uncomfortable sitting there so something was obviously wrong.
"All right then out with it."
"Last night I met Kathleen's Father."
"AH! Well I can just imagine how awkward that must have been."
"Oh, it was. But then after a while things were okay. I mean there was that initial you know…'
"Awkwardness?" Father Marconi chuckled.
"Yeah, the man is very intimidating. "
"How so?"
"Well he was in the Army for years."
"Okay, that would be very nerve wracking."
"Tell me about it but then we had a little small talk and then we had dinner."
"So then what went wrong?"
"Well after dinner we were in Kathleen's living room talking and I told him about Sam. You know about how we moved out of Brooklyn and moved to Fairfield so I could give her a better life. Kathleen told me to show him a picture and I did but the thing is I also have a picture of Angela too."
"You have a picture of Angela?"
"Yeah, I mean it really doesn't mean anything. Angela is my best friend. So of course I would have a picture of her." Tony protested.
"Okay, but how did he react?"
"He wanted to know who the blonde was. I told him it was Angela and that she was my boss and he asked why I was keeping a picture of my boss in my wallet."
"And what did you say to that?"
"I asked him don't you keep a picture of George Bush in yours?"
Father Marconi shook his head.
"Hey! I was trying to lighten the mood."
"So was that the whole issue? Kathleen's Father found out you had a picture of Angela-your female boss and best friend in your wallet?"
"No, that came a few minutes later."
"Okay. Go on."
"Well just then the phone rang and it was Angela. Kathleen handed me the phone and she went into the kitchen."
"Wait a minute! Angela called you while you were having dinner with Kathleen and her Father?"
"Yes, she was taking care of little Billy Napoli."
"Why was she? Why weren't you?"
"Well Mrs. Rossini got her weekends mixed up and Angela was home so she said she would watch him since I already had plans."
"Okay, so then why did she call you?"
"Well Billy was refusing to go to sleep and since I knew him better than she did she thought I might know a trick or two to get him to go to bed. So I sang the Mary Tyler Moore song. I used to sing it all the time to Sam." Tony smiled at the memory.
"And did it work?"
"Yeah. Angela fell right asleep." Tony chuckled. 'I then told Billy to go find Sam and tell her that he was ready for bed and we said goodbye and hung up."
"So then what's the problem?"
"Kathleen's Father heard the whole conversation-well my side-and he told me how impressed he was the way I handled it. I was flattered at first but then he told me…"
'He told you what?"
"He told me that he wanted me to father his grandchildren and that his biological clock was ticking! I mean Father, I just met this man and he wants me to father his grandchildren?!"
"Do you blame him? You are dating his daughter after all."
"I…No, I don't. That is what I told Kathleen when she came out and asked me if she could see me in the kitchen."
"What else did you tell her?"
"Well I asked her if he ever mentioned his biological clock and he must have mentioned it before because she got angry and was about to go confront him and I stopped her and told her that I did understand how he felt because I want the same for Sam. "
"For Sam to get married and have children."
'Well yeah! But, of course, after she finishes college. Even though she is engaged."
"Samantha is engaged?!"
"Yeah, he's a nice guy and everything and like I said I do want Sam to have a happy marriage and I would love to be a grandpa but I also want her to get an education first."
'Okay, so what did Kathleen say then when you told her all this?"
"She smiled and threw her arms around me and told me how happy she was."
"And how did you feel?'
"I felt…." he shook his head and sighed. "I felt scared. I felt like I couldn't breathe with her arms around my neck. So I excused myself and went back into the living room and a minute later she followed me and after a little more chit chat I told them that I had to get back home."
"Tony, let me ask you something."
"Okay."
"You've been dating Kathleen for a few months now."
"Yeah."
"And you like her right?"
"I do. She's a very nice girl and we do have fun together."
"And marriage has never crossed your mind?"
Tony was taken aback. In all the time he had been dating Kathleen, marriage and having babies with her had never been on his radar. He gasped when he realized the truth. What he had been denying for months and hell for years.
But it had been for Angela.
Angela, the woman who had welcomed him and Sam into her home.
Angela, the woman who had become his best friend and a bonus Mom to his daughter.
Angela, the woman he had asked to wait for him in Jamaica and then proceeded to break her heart months later by sleeping with and dating Kathleen.
It wasn't Kathleen he imagined marrying and having babies with, it was Angela. It had always been Angela. When they had stood up for Paul and Isabelle he had pictured Angela and him as the bride and groom. When they had gone to see Jonathan's principal he had told him that if he had a baby today he would want her to be the mother. And she had responded that he would be a great father.
"Tony, you've grown quiet. That isn't like you."
"I know."
"So what is it? What have you been thinking about?"
"Angela."
"Why Angela?"
"Because Father. The truth is I have never once thought of marrying or having a family with Kathleen. But, I have with Angela."
'Well I do remember that one time you came and told me that you had feelings for her."
"Yeah, when I thought I was responsible for our neighbor's death."
"So you've thought about marrying Angela and having babies with her?"
"Yes."
"And never with Kathleen?"
"No."
Father Marconi chuckled. "Tony, don't you see what is going on here? The reason why you can't picture Kathleen as your wife or the mother of your children is because you are already taken."
"I'm taken?!"
"Yes, by Angela! She has taken your heart. You may be dating Kathleen and yes you may like her and enjoy spending time with her but your heart is with Angela."
He was right. He was 100% right. Angela had taken his heart.
"You're right Father."
"Aren't I always?" he winked to brighten the mood.
Tony laughed and stood up. Father Marconi did as well.
"Thank you Father. You really helped me to put things in perspective."
"You're welcome."
They said goodbye and Tony left and went out to his jeep and unlocked the door and slipped inside. He sat there for a few minutes going over their conversation.
Taken! Yes, he was taken.
And it was high time he did something about it.
