Max, Marissa and Lily all made their way downstairs. Max was in the front, Lily in the middle and Marissa at the back. They went to the kitchen. It was quiet, the kind of quiet where you could hear the clock tick or a dog snoring in their bed. Lily was determined to show them what was she trying to say. When they got into the kitchen, there was nobody in sight, the big kitchen windows like dark picture frames reflected the kitchen but nothing else,
"I don't see anybody .",said Max.
"What?!? They were RIGHT here a minute ago! I have proof!", declared Lily.
She ran for the kitchen table that still had the salmon that was either bitten or burnt. Lily brought it to her parents,
"Here one part of the salmon is brunt and the other one was eaten.", Lily pointed and explained.
The family stood there, looking around, with the plate between them. Max decided to speak,
"Listen Lily...it's okay. Imagination is hard to control, sometimes. I used to have that problem with my parents, too. When I was a kid , everything was an option. It wasn't a noise, it was a monster! That's why I get it and am not upset. I used to believe in a lot of things as a kid. I saw rainbows when others saw clouds. That's why I became a author, I had to find a way to express myself, but, eventually, I knew that I had to grow out of imagining. There has to be a difference between that and reality", explained Max.
"But Dad...",began Lily.
That was when Marissa was about to say something. Instead, she let out a sigh and looked down at Lily,
"Lily, I understand that you think you had saw something. Your father's right, what you had saw was probably in your head. Come on, you need to go to sleep.",said Marissa.
"Mom, no, you...",started Lily.
"Lily, it's time for you to go to bed.",agreed Max.
Lily replied with a sigh.
"Yes Dad.",she said.
She went to follow her mom up the stairs. After they left, Max took one last look at watching his wife and daughter walking upstairs. Then, he took one last look at the salmon, maybe Lily might be trying to tell us something...
