As Jack and Audrey wait for their Uber, Jack wonders if Officer Brown was right. Seven years ago Jack and Audrey had conspired to use a terrorist who possessed the Cordella Virus. They manipulated this to force the nuclear powers to disarm. It had worked, but not without consequences. The plague was unleashed in a hotel, over 1,000 men women and children died. Among them was Tony Almeida's wife Michelle. Tony had sought revenge, he tortured and tried to murder Jack and Audrey. Eventually, Jack, Tony, and Audrey were all pardoned in exchange for helping stop another terrorist attack against America. Part of that included protecting Hekmetyar from assasination, and he was now ensuring peace between America and Afghanistan. Jack and Audrey's friends now included others who had made similar mistakes. Jack's own daughter Kim had once been an eco-terrorist, had been incarcerated for five years. Her husband Jamal had spent much of his youth in a gang, been incarcerated, but turned his life around after converting to islam while in prison. There was also Danielle, as a teenager she had gotten involved with radical anti-abortion groups and tried to blow up a clinic. She and Kim had been cellmates, and lovers. Jack sometimes wondered if Kim and Danielle were still lovers, but felt that was none of his business. Danielle also had a husband and children. Conner was Jack's friend when they both started working at CTU, until Jack discovered that Conner was giving classified intel to the Irish Republican Army. Conner was incarcerated, while he was in prison Jack helped take care of his mother, made sure she wound up in a good nursing home. Abraham was once an arms-dealer, during the Iran-Iraq war he sold to both sides, because he wanted both sides to lose. Both governments had been avowed enemies of Israel, Abraham wanted to weaken both countries ability to attack his people. He tried to retire, but then his son got involved with fanatical zionist groups, and got himself killed. Abraham then helped Jack and CTU take down the people who killed his son. There was also Amy. Back when president Gardner interred thousands of muslim and arab americans Amy was part of a militia opposed to this. They even attacked one of these concentration camps, freed the prisoners. Amy and her girlfriend were both shot during this assault. Amy forever lost the use of her legs, her girlfriend died in this attack. Chloe had once worked at CTU as a computer tech, but became dissillusioned with the covert military actions. She leaked classified intel to the hacktivist group "Open Cell" and spent three years in prison for this. Upon her release Chloe started her own cyber security company, and quietly became a millionaire. Tony Almeida had been Jack Bauer's best friend once, but after Michelle's death he sought revenge. Now, after his own pardon, he and Jack had apparently reconciled. At their age, and with their respective actions, in many ways they needed each other. It was an unlikely group that Jack had assembled. But they all had some things in common. Even though they were each trying to forget their pasts and live a quiet life, there were those who would never forget, or forgive. They needed each other.

Vice-president Keaton was speaking with president Allen. Agent Pierce interrupts them.

Pierce: Mr vice-president, CTU says that there is a lot of chatter from extremist groups about targeting you.
Keaton: I've been getting death threats ever since I first ran for president. If I let every death threat deter my plans...
Pierce: If you insist on going to the welcoming home ceremony today, we need to take some extra precautions.
Keaton: Very well agent Pierce. But these soldiers, after how they served their country, they deserve to know that their government is grateful. Madam president, I'm sorry I won't be here for your meeting with speaker Templeton.
Allen: I think I can handle him on my own.

Rudy was in his basement, playing video games. Not unusual for a 19 year old, but this video game was a far cry from Super Mario. It was a shooting game, where the objective was to go into a school and shoot as many children as possible. This game was particularly popular amongst neo-nazies, like Rudy. Soon, Rudy would get the chance to test his skills. Heather arrives, she knows his plans and completely supports him.

Heather: Getting ready for tomorrow?
Rudy: Yeah, I'll be ready. You could use a little practice yourself.
Heather: Probably. But these are my last hours before death, I kind of want to enjoy them.
Rudy: We can do that too. But when it happens, I want to cause as much damage as possible.

Heather and Rudy were a match made in Hell. Heather was 18, and truley wanted to die, didn't care if she had to kill to achieve this. Rudy truley wanted to kill as many as possible, and didn't care if he had to die to achieve this goal. Tomorrow, they would kill many people indeed.
