mountains north of Shieldfreeden
a man in a yellow jacket runs inside the base of a mountain, he tries to run as fast as he could as blue blast's hit trees and the ground, instantly freezing and creating a shard of ice on contact "Got to *huf* run away!" he said while out of breath but a blue blast is shot in his foot, freezing to the ground and making the man fall on his head
"crap, I got to get this out" he picks a large pair of scissors from his backpack to try and break the ice off his feet, all the while a giant lizard with ice covering his back come closer and closer to the man as it prepares another ice blast
"N-no, come on break it!" he desperately says as he see's the monster shot a large ice shard from it's mouth, the man closes his eyes as he prepares for the impact but instead he hears the sound of water splashing in the ground, he opens his eyes and sees someone in a red cape in front of him with the monster roaring as it charges to attack the mysterious figure
"Not today" the caped man says as he whined up a punch and hits the lizard, the creature flies through 3 trees before stopping and falling to the ground as hasn't been for the ice armor around it's back the creature would have been left with a broken spine
"you alright? let me break the ice" superman said as he checked to see if the man was suffering from frost bite before concentrating his heat vision as to not burn the man
"I don't know who you are but I'm glad you showed up when you did mister, I was definitely gonna become that thing's lunch" the man said as he thought that was the end for him for sure
"don't mention, now..." the caped savior starts to emit a red line of energy from his eyes as the ice around the man's feet starts to melt
"How does your e-" the man stop's as he sees the beast start to open it's mouth as a bright blue and white energy starts to glow "watch out!" he shouts however the caped man is only able to turn before being hit by a beam of ice, freezing him and covering him entirely in a block of ice
"oh no... no, no, no..." the helpless man muttered as the monster slowly starts to get up with difficulty, even after the attack that had damaged the creature it still had enough strength to get up and it slowly made it's way to him
"come on! this is not how I'm going to die, can't be" the man is hopelessly at the mercy of the monster as it makes its way on to the man while opening it's jaw in preparation to eating him

the sound of ice breaking begins to fill the man's ears as he looks to the side and see's the ice block begin to shake and cracks appear all over it until "ugh!" the red caped man grunts as the entire block breaks shocking both the man and the monster, the ice lizard tries to jump at it's prey before the other man can do anything
"Were do you think you're going?"the caped savior says as he grabbed the monster's tail with great speed and shot him up in the air, before jump even higher and slamming his fist's against the creatures back sending it crashing to the ground in high speed, killing it
"A-amazing" the man said as he stared at awe after seeing such incredible demonstration of power
"Now back to you my friend" he says before using his heat vision and now fully melting the ice
"You're the most impressive person I ever..." the man in yellow jacket stops from a moment when he finally notices the gem in the shield and pieces together the identity of his savior "wait you're the shield hero! the one from the rumors!" the man exclaimed, now everything was making sense as the rumors say that the shield hero could lift ships with his hands and even fly faster than the air itself
"that's correct" superman said, he was getting a bit nostalgic as this was how people reacted when he first started doing rescue and saving in Smallville and then Metropolis
"wow... then you should absorb that monster into you shield that's how the legendary weapons get stronger!" the grateful man says as he points to the dead monster, legends says that the legendary heroes grow stronger by absorbing dead monsters or other weapons 'he must have some impressive shields already, but the stronger our cardinal hero is the better!'
"I don't really need to but sure" the shield hero said as he got close to the monster and places the gem into the creature's head, in a glow of a faint white light the cresture seemly disappear's as the shield changes form

"well of it isn't asking much, could you go with me to my village? I'm gonna feel a lot safer with a legendary hero like you around if another one of those things show up" the yellow jacket man ask's but he completely understood if something of that sorts was below the great shield hero
"Sure" the shield hero in blue agrees as he starts to walk along side the man on the way down the mountain
"Can I ask you what you were doing here?" the shield hero in red cape asked, it was normal for monster attacks to happen in this world but he didn't know why the man on his side went so close to the resting place of that ice lizard but he thought that the man might had been lost
"oh I was collecting some herbs more specifically this one" the man takes a thick herb with blue accents through the two leafs in the top
"Do you need them for something? it must be important for you to risk your life coming" the shield hero once again asked
"I'm a apothecary, I make and sell medicine for my village, I'm also a amateur alchemist so in my free time I make potions like this one" the apothecary took a bottle with a sparkling green fluid in it, it was his best healing potion that he had ever made capable of healing very bad cuts and bruises all over the body with it been strong enough to even combat some diseases like coughing or a small fever "you can take this one" the man said as he handed the potion to his savior
"you don't have to, I saved you because it was the right thing to do and not because I wanted a reward" The shield hero said, after ever single rescue he did the person would try to pay him or give him anything of value to compensate for it, but he always declined as it felt wrong to ask for payment after doing something that he did since he started his super hero career by doing what's right and not demanding payment for it
"it's fine, with this herb I can make another one and besides you will eventually need something to heal you or someone else that might be in danger" the man said as he couldn't let the hero who saved him go away empty handed
"true... a friend always said that a prepared man can win against anyone" superman said as he took the medicine and put in his inventory, he might not need it, but someone else might need it in a near future
"his a smart guy" the man responded, as if he had brought a weapon with him or if he had learned any offensive spells instead of none, he might have not needed to run away or even use a defensive spell would have been wise
"You have no idea" superman said, as when it came to preparing one self, no one could beat the world's greatest detective
"so what's your name?" the man asked, as just calling this person "shield hero" seemed redundant
"my birth name is Kal-El but when I'm saving people in this uniform I go by Superman" superman said, there wasn't really a need for a secret identity outside of Melromarc so he could just introduce himself like he did back when he was first summoned
"I see... so you have a adventurer name too" the man said, as it was a common thing for adventurers to use different names or titles when going to take quests 'Shield hero is already a powerful title but I can definitely see why go by Superman as he is more than a normal man could ever be'
"something like that, what about you?" Superman asked cordially
"my name is Phillip" the apothecary introduced himself to the man of steel
"is a pleasure to meet you Phillip" superman said with his cheerful smile, it was a surprise for Phillip how much comforting it was to be around the guy, it almost made it seem like he didn't just kill a dangerous monster with ease a few minutes ago
"Thanks... I find it weird that monster attacked me, I came there a month ago and it wasn't there before" Phillip said as never in his life he had seen such a creature in any part of Shieldfreeden he went to
"it most likely was brought here by someone else, I say a carriage frozen and destroyed" superman said as a creature like that was not from the region here considering the climate and environment of the area, it might have been taken away to a monster shop or something but it was able to escape
"That's my village over there, I can go alone by here and once again thanks for saving my life, if you ever need medicine just go to my shop and I promise you a discount of a lifetime" Phillip said as he pointed at the small town
"It was nothing but I'll think about it, now I hope you will be more careful when collecting your herbs next time" Superman said as he began to hover above the ground, preparing to fly off
"I will try my best" Phillip says as he waved goodbye to superman as he flew to the sky and disappeared in the horizon

superman flew over the country as he kept looking for anyone needing help but seemed like there was no one needing him in the moment
"guess I can go and sell some stuff-"
"Please... someone... just... end my life already..." a weak and trembling voice said as it seemed it had lost all hope, superman turned his neck into the direction of the voice and flew in breakneck speed
a wagon filled with cages was walking through a dirty road, inside the cages housed a variety of demi humans from a one armed lizard man to a horned demi human shaking while stuttering meaning less words to even a small raccoon girl curled up in her cage
"damn some of this animals look like shit, think that we will still get some money out of this? I think that one has gone insane" a bald man asked as he looked at the caged slaves
"I'm sure, we can score some-"

the ground shock a bit as a small cloud of smoke formed in front of the road, almost like a meteor had hit the ground in front of them making the lizards pulling the carriage to panic for a bit before the slim crook hit their hedges "what the hell was-"
"I will ask you two to willingly free those people in the cages or I will have to do it by force" Clark's voice cuts the speech of one of the bandits as the smoke disappears to show the man of steel flying in front of them
"what, it's a guy? how is him flying?" the bald thug said as he watched confused on the flying man in front of them
"wait a minute...you're the shield hero right? they said you had a weird costume" the slim crook said as he got out of the carriage and approached the man of steel with a sword on his shoulder, his fellow companion following suit
"free them from those cages if you would and I will go easy on the both of you" Superman says as he gives the two a chance of doing the right thing
"nah I don't think so, we are just in our way to sell this merchandise to our buyer and we won't receive if we come up empty handed" the slim thug said in a arrogant manner, seemly confident that the shield hero couldn't stop them
"slavery is illegal, I'm going to have to punish you two crooks" superman said as he landed on the ground and stares the pair with a firm look
"illegal? ah right you are from another world..."the slim crook said as he rolled his hair back while his bald companion tapped his steel hammer against his palm
"listen buddy, slavery might be illegal from where you are from, but here? it's totally legal! a normal business just like selling pastries" the slim crook said as smug as possible
"...and?" superman asked, even if it was legal it doesn't mean he was not gonna stop it
"and? pfft, well according to the law, it's illegal to steal or liberate someone's slaves! you would be the only crook here mister hero" the slim man said as if he was at the top of the world, overflowing with confidence
"..." Clark looked down to the ground as he contemplated what the man had said, he listened to his heart beat to make sure he wasn't lying and he wasn't, that put the man of steel in a complicated situation
"then if you don't want trouble mister I suggest you to get out of our way before we get angry" the bald man said as the two arrogantly stared at the man of steel
"...good thing I'm already a criminal then..." superman said as he uncrossed his arms and slowly started to fly in the direction of the two man
"what did you say-" the bald man couldn't finish his sentence as he was tossed upwards to a incredible height
"you scum!-" the slim man was picked up by superman and shaken in super speed, superman left go off the man who vomited before falling in his own face
superman flew up and grabbed the other crook who had passed out from fear, superman grabbed their weapons and bend them to tie up the two slavers to a close by tree using his heat vision to make sure they couldn't get out of the restraints
he approached the back of the carriage and opened it, all the Demi humans inside looked at him confused on who he was and also scared of what he may do after his display of power but seeing as he fought against their slaver's it made them a bit more trusting of him
"don't worry, I'm here to help" he said as he loaded all the cages out of the carriage and broke the locks with his bare hands as well as the collar and handcuffs on the slaves
"thank you mister..." a cat woman said as she passed her hands on her neck, crying as she felt the absence of that prisoner's collar
"no need, I'm just doing what is right, you all aren't slaves anymore" the man of steel said as he broke the handcuffs of a little raccoon girl, she looked at him before noticing the shield in his arm and started standing there speechless
"I wished that was the case..." a one armed lizard man said while looking down, with the other demi humans doing so as well
"uhh?" superman was confused by that statement before noticing how all of them were touching their chests, as he saw a intriguing purple mark on there
"we have this cursed marks that magically bound us to a owner, as long as we have this... we will never be free..." the lizard man says as he placed his hand on his chest remembering all the times the thing had shock him
"how do we remove this?" superman asked as magic curses were not his area of expertise
"there's a special ink that removes it but you can only get those from a slave trader..." the demi human responded although he and the others didn't have hope of finding such a ink, as soon as they run into a human it would be death for them or when their slaver's woke up and used the mark to torture them until they died out of the cursed mark's shock
"... I'm going to get that ink" he confidently said as all the demi human slaves looked at him
"you have to find a slave shop, there's one in the capital that looks like a purple tent they said" the one armed demi human lizard pointed at the unconscious slavers "that's where the two of them were going to sell us to the owner, but that's two days of travel and not even mentioning the price of-"
"don't worry about that, wait here, I'm going to return with that ink" he said while placing his hand on the man's shoulder before turning around in the direction of the city
"but how are you-" the lizard man couldn't end his phrase as superman seemly disappeared in a second leaving a cloud of dust
"what...was that?" the horned demi human said as he couldn't understand what in god's name was happening, although he wasn't in the best state of mind he was sure that their savior just evaporated in the air
"how did he do all of that?" the cat demi human asked, as that man didn't seemed to be using magic of any kind and yet he was performing amazing feats
"shield..." the raccoon girl finally speaks up now looking up in the same direction that their savior had left in
"huh?" the group of slaves looks at the girl confused by what she whispered
"he had a shield...silver with a gem on the middle..." the girl says as she began to feel herself be filled with life again
"y-you aren't saying that he is who I think he is?!" the cat demi human is shocked by that assumption but she starts to reason about it 'only the shield hero would have freed us, the stories all talk about how he made the country Siltvelt with freed demi human slaves'
"could it be?!" the lizard man loudly ask's and then thinks to himself as he places his hand on his chin 'it would explain some of his feats but the legends never told of such powerful shield hero, he is definitely kind to demi humans though'
"the shield hero..." she extends her arm out to the stars and close it, a soft smile coming out as a light of hope filled her eyes
Melromarc capital, slave tent at castle town
a short fat man in a extravagant suit and top hat was placing some eggs with strange purple emblems on a sort of box, before he could placed another egg, a strong wind blow his direction and now in front of him was standing a man in blue and cap red
"ah welcome! would you like to try the monster egg lottery?" the slave trader said as if this was nothing to him
"I want the ink that removes slave marks" the man of steel responded in a cold and firm tone, wanting to get out of here as fast as he could
"straight to business I see, but that's quite the odd request, would you mind telling me what you want to do with that?" the man asked with a creepy smile on his face
"is none of your business" superman said as he kept himself from attacking the slave trader
"true, true, I will grab it for you" the man said as he went to a cabinet and grabbed a small white bottle
"here you go, that will be 400-" before he could say more, superman left the bag of money he has being keeping with him fall on the table and grabbed the white ink bottle as the slave trader counted the money
"this is more than-" the slave trader looked up and saw that the man of steel had already left
"...I guess the shield hero won't be much of a customer..." the man said as he took his glasses out and clean them with a handkerchief before putting his glasses back
"Oh well, there's still the other three heroes" the man said as a wide and sinister grin appeared on his face

"do you think he will return in how many minutes-"
"I'm back" superman says as he lands close to the group, he opens the ink bottle and absorbed it's contents into his shield

"form a line please" superman said and in a minute they all formed a line in front of him, after a couple of minutes, all the marks were removed and the now ex-slaves were all commemorating
"I'm free again! this is *sob* amazing!" the cat demi human said
"I can't believe this is happening... it is almost dream like..." the lizard man says as he took a moment to contemplate if this was real or not
"even the air tastes different now" the horned demi human says while sticking his tongue out
"do you have somewhere to go? I can take you all to your homes now" superman offered as it was better to take this people to somewhere safe instead of leaving them in a dirty road in the middle of nowhere
"my family... they are all dead... I have no reason to stay in this country anymore" a orange fur dog man said as he recalled his family being slay before his very eyes while he was took away to fight in the coliseum in Zeltobe
"people here are bad to me..." the horned demi human said as put his hands to his head and began to shake a bit

"alright then everyone in the carriage" Clark says as the demi humans remove the remaining cages, frees the animals that were used to pull the vehicle and enter inside the carriage once they were all inside, the man of steel picked up the carriage and began flying in the direction of the demi country in a slower speed then usual as to keep the demi human inside okay during the trip
"I can't believe this" the one armed lizard man said as he looked down to the ground and almost fainted, as they were way higher than he expected
"we are flying in the air like birds" the dog man said, as flying was a benefit exclusive to only bird demi humans, so this was a exciting first time experience

"no it's... a carriage?" the dog demi human says in confusion as the vehicle lands, the town's folk gather around and area then shocked to see the rumored shield hero that has been going around Siltvelt for the pass couple of days
"Oh great savior of the shield! what is your business in our small and insignificant town?" one of the demi humans said as he kneeled down with many more following
"I freed theses people from slavers back at Melromarc, could you give them a place to stay here for a while?" superman asked with the now freed slaves crying over his endless generosity and miracles
"Of course! we will give them the best shelter we have to offer" the rabbit demi human said as he got up 'he has gone to that despicable kingdom to free these poor demi humans of their injustice slavery, he is truly a blessing to all demi humans' he thought as a overly joyful expression covered his face
As the citizens guide the ex-slaves to a inn in the town, superman turns back and prepares to leave
"now to g-" superman stops when he notices that the raccoon girl was holding his cape trying to get his attention
"something wrong? you don't want to go with the others" superman asked the girl
"I-i..." the raccoon girl struggled to talk but she eventually worked up the courage to talk "I want to go back to Melromarc" she said as she looked at her savior
"are you sure? they are going to slave you again if they find you" superman said as it was probably safer for her to stay here were she wouldn't be discriminated against and slaved
"I want to save my friends... they are being tortured day after day by a-"
"do you know where they are?" superman asked with no excitation, if he could help someone, he would, especially in a case like this
"Y-yes! they are in Idol Rapier's territory in his mansion" she informed him, after seeing how he performed feats of strength and power that weren't in any of the tales she heard in her entire life, she felt that he would be able to save everyone in that manor from that vile man that called himself a noble
"I'm going to save them, don't worry" superman said as he looked over the small girl with a smile that spires hope in her heart
"I want to go with you!" she said as she wanted to help safe her friends from that monster in human skin "I can show you where they are, please shield hero..." she plead to him, with crying eyes while holding her hands together
"alright, hop on" superman says as he kneeled down for the girl to hop on his back, she smiles before rushing to him and getting up his shoulders
"I'm going to fly a bit slower for you to not fall down but you better hang tight" he said as the two begin to ascend in the air and began to fly back to the direction of Melromarc
"...are you going to give me that 5 gold now or tomorrow?" the mouse guard said as he looked smugly at his jaw-dropped companion
"..." the elephant man closed his mouth and looked annoyed at his fellow guard before taking a deep breath and letting out a sigh as he put his left hand on his face "is 3 gold and 200 silver okay with you?" he asked

"Can I ask you something?" Raphtalia said as she looked at the horizon as to not passe out of fear if she looked down since she knew that they were flying so high that she could almost touch the clouds
"Sure" superman responded
"how... how did you know where to find me and the others?" raphtalia timidly asked, as she and Rifana and many others prayed everyday and constantly for someone to help them and save them but nobody came, but right as she lost hope, she is saved by the hero of the shield
"I used my super hearing" superman said as this was a common question he got when saved people back then, of course he didn't reveal that to the world as many criminals would start to use methods to stop him from hearing their plans or when they would commit crimes, but since this was just a little girl from a different world, is was okay to tell her this information
"super hearing?" she asked confused, does that mean he was close by when the cart she was passed by? that could explain it
"it allows me to hear even the smallest of sounds from the other side of the world as if they were close to my ear" superman clarified as he remembered how scared he was when that power began to develop, that only made Raphtalia eyes to widen when she thought about the implications of such ability
"does it hurt? I can't imagine how overwhelming it must be..." Raphtalia says as she imagined how scary and painful to hear everything that peole say, every monster growling, every miniscule little sound in the world at the same time as if they were being blasted constantly on her ears, how someone could live like that was beyond reason for her
"when I was younger it was at times, but over time I learned how to control it just like my other abilities, now I can focus and pick up certain words and tones of voice with it, so I can hear a man scream for help instead of hearing the constant talk of townsfolk with it about mundane stuff" he explained as they continued their flight through the continent
"I see..." raphtalia said as she now knew why he didn't come before, he probably was hearing so many cries of help that theirs just got lost between all of the others, she also remembered that Idol said that the dungeon they were keep in was made to damper sound as to not bother any visitors he had come to his manor, so they could possibly be saved much earlier if that bastard didn't invest so much into his torture dungeon...
"I can see a mansion up in that hill, is that the place?" superman man asked as he slowed down even more in the air so the girl could see better
"uhm... yeah! it is there, can we land?" she asked, with the man of tomorrow nodding as both discreetly descended into the manor, although there was guards outside, they were mostly looking at the outside of the mansion, so infiltrating was easy
"alright I will go inside and deal with the guards" superman said as he began to look at where all the guards were stationed and which other to take them out without being seen 'How does Bruce do this without super hearing and x-ray vision is beyond me' superman thought as he had already got things figured out
"I can help!" raphtalia said as she felt ready to give some pay back to anyone who worked for Rapier
"no, it's too dangerous" superman said as he couldn't allow a child to get into danger, she was not ready to fight anything and he knew that those men would kill her without a drop of mercy from what it seemed
"please! I can free my friends while you take care of the guards!" raphtalia implored as she wanted to get to saving her friends as quick as possible, she didn't want her people to spend any more time in this place suffering

"okay..." the girl responded as she looked away and scratched her arm
the two landed in the outside the manor, and superman began to sneakily take out the guards in the outside
"what are you gonna do tomorrow?" a guard asked the other guard who was walking behind him
"don't know, maybe I will-" the other guard couldn't finish his sentence as in a blink of the eye he had disappeared
"will what? finish your sentence-" the guard said as he looked back to see his companion seemly gone
"where did you-" the guard didn't finish his questions as he to was grabbed in super speed and quickly knocked out, restrained and hidden before he could realize what happened
one by one, the guards were knocked out unconscious and tied up, after making sure that there was no guards left in the outside of the mansion, superman entered the manor and continued with the ones inside
"uh? hey what are you doing here!?" a guard said as he took a turn in one of pathways of the mansion just to see a man in bizarre clothing knocking out one of his fellow guards with a punch
"my job" the man of steel says as he left goes of the unconscious guard and takes a step in the direction of the other guard
"what the heck kind of job is-" the other guard stopped his sentence as he is hit in the gut so strong that he passes out from the pain
"a hero's job" superman said as he held the guard for a bit before placing him in a wall
meanwhile, against the shield hero's request, raphtalia start to make her way inside the mansion, a job made easy by all the guards being gardually being taken care of, raphtalia grabbed a sword from one of the knock out guards as she entered the manor, she began to sneakily make her way to the place she dreaded the most even with a bit of difficulty since the sword was heavier than she would like, even if she wasn't able to see when she was being moved to a wagon to be sold, she remembered every twist and turn, until she was meet with a wide black steel door, she opened it as it was not locked, it meant that he was there...
she entered and left the doors wide open as she could hear the sounds of a sickly evil laugh, feminine screams of pain, and the cracking of a whip. she stealthly and slowly made her way into the direction of the sound, some of the caged slaves saw her and their eyes widening in surprise, but they keep their mouths shut as to allow the girl to sneak up on their wicked master and use the sword she was carrying, a dog boy saw her and almost blew her cover but she made a 'Shh' with her hand and the dog boy nodded with a smile on his face, happy to see his friend again, and on her way to kill the bastard imprisoning them
she finally got to the source, a fat man with blonde hair and mustache, in luxurious clothes using a black whip to hit a sick weasel girl
"what's wrong animal? your so silent, did you eat your own tongue?" the man joked, as the weasel spit blood from her mouth in his face and stares back at him
"...then you want a extra beating? very well then! I hope you will dread it even more than the previous-" before he could hit her again, Idol felt something cold touch his skin and then his insides followed by the feeling of blood running down his wound
"what?" Idol said as he looked back to see a girl in rags sinking a sword on his left side, she quickly removes it and takes a few steps back as Idol turned to look better at his attacker
"who the hell are you?! not only have ruined my clothes and interrupted my torture section, you also stabbed me! the great Idol Rapier!" the man screamed out as he stared at the raccoon girl angrily, he didn't know how or why she was here and with a weapon but he couldn't care less as he was just gonna kill her slowly and painfully
"Raphtalia?..." the weasel girl says as she stares at her best friend before passing out
"it's over Idol, you're finished" the raccoon girl said as she raised her sword up to point at idol's head with a bit of difficulty
"please, you think a little stab like that would kill me? I have survived worse things!" Idol proudly proclaimed as he didn't even care for the wound he had been inflicted, as his hp bar only dropped by 1 point
"I know, that was just something I wanted to do before he gets here" she said while slowly stepping back closer to one of the cages, never turning her back at rapier
"he?" Idol asked 'was that how she got here, with the help of someone?' he thought for a brief moment
"this place is sound proof right? so you can torture us while any visitors or parties are going on the other rooms..." Raphtalia said as she looked at the walls of the torture chamber
"huh? what are you talking about you dumb animal?" Idol asked as everything the girl said made him confused as they seem like illogical statements 'demi humans are the most stupid things for sure unlike us blessed humans' he thought with pride in his racist mindset
"maybe that's why he didn't hear our screams before..." she says before turning and starting to hit the sword against the iron bars over and over again making loud noise to the confusion of everyone present
"ha! have you gone mad?" Idol laughs at the display of the girl, instead of fighting him she was fighting the bars of the cage like a idiot
"oh, I'm letting him know where we are..." raphtalia said very vaguely which confused both Idol and the other slaves
"I had enough of you!" Idol screamed as pulled his whip back and then swinged to hit Raphtalia, but before it could, a strong wind blew idol's way making him close his eyes and when he opened them, he saw a tall man in blue with a red and yellow symbol on his chest holding his whip in his hand
"I thought I told you to stay outside" the man of steel said as he turned to face to raphtalia, while Idol tried to pull his whip back but it yielded no results
"sorry, I couldn't resist" the raccoon girl says while putting a hand in her head, the other demi humans are incredibly confused at who the man was or how he had appeared out of nowhere
"and who are you now?! a animal loving fuck in a freak costume!" Idol shouted as he couldn't believe a human man was helping these disgusting excuse of people
"I think you had enough" Superman said in a serious tone as with one push he took the whip out of idol's hands and throws it across the room, this however didn't even make Idol flinch
"ha that's what y-" Idol was unable to finish as superman appeared in front of him in the blink of a eye and flick his finger at idol's face, sending the man flying over the room and hitting the wall with extreme force knocking rapier unconscious as he hit the ground
"pick the keys I'm going to help this one" superman said as raphtalia nodded and went to pick the keys from idol's pocket while he went closer to Rifana, the slaves soon began to cheer at the fact that Idol was defeated and they would at the very least be out of this torment although they thought superman had killed rapier as the force he showed was incredible
"let me take this off you" he says as he breaks the chains in the girl's arms and removed the collar from her throat, she looks at him and as soon as her eyes see's the shield in his arms a smile came to her face
"y-you *cough* came..." the small weasel girl said as she looked at her savior, Rifana had dreamed of marrying the shield hero ever since she heard the stories about him from her parents and now she was eye to eye with him as the shield hero had saved her life, this was the happiest she had ever felt since the first wave had hit
"you're going to be alright, drink this" Clark said as he took the special medicine that he had been given earlier by the alchemist Phillip at Shieldfreeden, the girl drinks it with pleasure and as she does a green glow with sparks of white cover's her body fully healing her from the injuries caused by rapier, even her throat was better than before
"can you walk? I can t-" he stops once the girl starts to hug him and tears fall from her eyes
"You *sob* really came! I *sob* prayed for *sob* this everyday and *sob* you finally came! I'm so *sob* happy!" Rifana couldn't contain her emotions as she was full of happiness that the shield hero had saved her 'I am going to ask him in marriage as soon as we are back at lurolona! but I need a bouquet of flowers first'
"it's alright, I'm going to take all of you from here" he gently places his hands on the girl and moves her away for him to walk back to help the other slaves, rifana felt something in her chest after he did and she saw that her slave crest was now gone, she was even more happy now and rushed to follow the shield hero of her dreams
"come on raphtalia! I want to get out of here!" Keel said as he watched raphtalia try to open the one key at a time
"calm down keel, I'm trying every key he had one is going to eventually w-" she stops her sentence briefly once superman grabs the cage's door and pulls it out of it's frame without a single bit of effort "...work" she says while staring at the man of steel who puts the door to the ground, she shook her head and went up to keel, thankfully it only took 2 attempts to remove him from the chains
"Who is that?" Keel asked as just like everyone else, he was mighty confused about who this miraculous savior was
"He is the shield hero of legend! he is the savior of all demi humans! the hero that protects all! the one that fights against slavers! and he will be my future husband!" Rifana happy exclaimed, Superman ignored that last part, after a brief moment of taking a better look at the guy in blue, Keel did notice the weird shield in his arm
"Okay... but why did he took so long? we had t-"
"Keel if you don't appreciate what the shield hero has done for us I will personally beat sense back to you, understood?" Rifana said as she stared down Keel with murderous eyes while raising her fist to his neck, Keel had to admit that he was a bit scared by how serious she was when saying that
"That won't be necessary little one, now could you all form a line so that I can remove the slave mark in your chest" Superman said as he stands his hand outwards and putting it in more or less the same height as the boy
"You can do that?" Keel asked a bit sceptical about that, sure the guy was strong but no way he could remove the cursed mark's with just his hand
"Of course he can! he is the shield hero!" Rifana said as she just spilled compliment after completing to superman
"a-alright" Keel said as it didn't seemed that there was no other except believing in this man's word
"here" Clark said as he placed his hand on Keel's chest, and with a faint glow, the mark was gone
"wow!" Keel said as he passed his hand on where the mark was supposed to be, the other demi humans that were being liberated one by one by raphtalia just stared in amazement at the shield hero
"before you all begin circle around me, form a line please" superman said and the other slaves did as told, once they all have being freed, they began to run out of the dungeon commemorating
"we are out! can't believe you brought the shield hero to rescue us! he flicked his finger and boom! that bastard flew through the wall!" Keel said as he runs through the halls of the manor with his two friends, always stopping to kick any unconscious guard he found
"yeah, he is so dreaming..." Rifana said as she holded her hands together and looked up to the ceiling, imagining all the romantic dates the two of them would go to
"let's ransack this place! get anything worth a dime" Keel said as he picked up what he saw as a expensive candle holder
"don't do that, I didn't save you all just for you people to turn to crime" supermam said as he took the thing out of the boys hand and placed back were it was
"can you magically creat money for us to use to buy medicine, clothes and to build shelter?" Keel said as he crossed his arms, they needed some money and this guys were scum, so he didn't saw any reason to not steal from this damn manor where they were captive
"I see what you're doing and no I can't, but don't take a path of a petty criminal" superman said in firm but comforting tone as he stared keel, with the dog boy sighing in defeat
"...ugh, fine! but we gonna have to steal some carriages and the beasts to pull them so we can escape hidden" Keel said as they couldn't just walk out of this place and into the streets, as demi humans walking around freely would definitely cause the guards to come their way
"I will allow that, I can't fly all of you in a comfortable and safe way, so we gonna have to do that" superman said, he could cut off a piece of the ground where they were standing, lift it up and fly away with them on, but they might fall off it considering the physical condition some of them were
"you can fly?!" Keel screamed out, as this was just getting absurd, he didn't remember much about the tales of the cardinal heroes that he and the other kids listen and read but he knew that none of them mentioned the heroes flying, but considering everything this guy had done so far, he was willing to believe that it was a possibility
"he is perfect..." Rifana said as she was once a again in her land of dreams, thinking about the shield hero taking her to fly over the night sky
after getting outside, the adults went and grabbed two wagons and four filolials to pull them, loading the carriages full with all the now freed slaves, some grabbed armor, spears and swords from the pass out guards for protection, while superman opened the gate for them to pass
"All set, we can leave now" one of the adults said as he used a simple cloth to hide his animal features
"ok we-"
suddenly the ground of the manor begins to shake as if a earthquake was happening
"What is going on?!" one of the other demi humans asked in panic, Clark uses his x-ray vision and see's that a obelisk deep below the manor was shaking the entire place
"Something inside the manor, you all go to safety while I'm going to stop whatever this is" superman said as he could try to stop this earthquake just like he could back home
"No! you can't leav-"
"Rifana! we have to go" Raphtalia says as she makes sure to hold her friend from trying to follow the Man of steel
"We need to hurry out of here!" Keel said as he went to the front of the cart and before the man in front could try to stop him, he grabbed the whip on the side of the carriage and used that on the two birds tied to the carriage, who upon hearing the sound of the whip cracking, began to run out with Keel holding their leashes to make them go to the gates, with the other carriage following soon after
"Hahaha yes rise! rise!" Idol says maniacally as the obelisk shakes, a dark energy starts flowing out of its cracks as it illuminated the room in a evil red light
"What are you doing?!" superman ask's as he enters the room with super speed, he looks at Idol for a moment before he sees a claw come out of the obelisk
"You may have somehow out power me shield hero! but you can't handle what is about to emerge from the obelisk!" Idol say's in pride of his victory 'you may have used one of your devilish power's to beat me, but there's nothing you can do to the power of the Black Tyrant' Rapier monologues in his head as the shaking in the room becomes even more intense
"Rise Black Tyrant Dragon! destroy everything and every single one of them!" Rapier shouted as he raised his hands in the air as the obelisk finally broke into pieces revealing a black T-Rex with a crown made of scale's
"ROOOOAAAAAAAAARRRGGGHHH!!!" The giant creature roared
"yes! yes! now, crush-"
SPLAT
the massive dinosaur slammed his foot as Idol was now nothing more the a splat of blood below the creature, the monster looks down at superman as it's eyes glow a bright red
"that's not good..." Clark said as he entered a battle pose while staring up against the monster

"What was that?" a civilian asked as he got himself up from the ground
"Felt like a earthquake, that has never happened before" one of the city's guards commented, never had such tremor happened in all of his 15 years in the city
"I wonder what caus-"
CRASH
"Now what?!" the fallen civilian asked once again
"Did a meteor has fallen too?" a worried woman asked, first a earthquake and now a meteor at the same night, would lighting start failing too?
a merchant takes a closer look a the dust cloud while it disappears and notices that it as man wearing weird clothes inside "Wait this looks like a man... how did he e-"
ROOOOAAAARRRR!!!
"What the fuck is that!?!?" A man shouts in total panic as he sees a gigantic black lizard seemly explode out of Idol Rapier's manor
"I-is the black tyrano! I thought it was a myth" the guard says with a trembling voice, the sight of the terrifying creature freezes the man and many others in place
"W-wait so he really was under the Rapier manor!?" another person screamed as he was taken by fear, the rumors about a powerful monster being sealed down the Rapier manor always floated around here and there but no one was certain if it was real or not
"What are going to do!?" a merchant asked in panic as people begin to run for their lives while others tried to hide from the creature
"ugh..." superman grunts as he gets up from the crash, seeing the panic of the people he shouts to the guard close by "evacuate everyone in the city, I'll hold him off"
"uhh what?" the guard barely focused at superman as he was taken by fear at the sight of the Black Tyrant
"Get everyone to safety!" the man of steel once again shouted but now in a much more commanding tone
"O-of course! but how is someone like you suppo-" before he could finish superman disappears as the winds crack as if sound had been broken, the guard recomposing himself starts to guide merchants and civilians to the city's exit
superman flies into the black T-Rex with great speed and force, launching the monster backwards down the hill which only serves to anger the creature as it tries to bite the man of steel with it's powerful jaw but superman easily dodges it on the account of having the flight advantage
"I got to end this quickly" superman says as he fires his heat vision at Black Tyrannosaurus which struggles for a second before overpowering the laser as it starts rushing at the kryptonian once more but this time it just to try and bite him, he is able to dodge it but the dinosaur uses it's massive head to slam it against the man of steel once he dodged his first attack
"ugh!" superman grunts as he crash's into the ground below, the black tyrannosaurus falls close by as it's landing nakes the whole ground shake while superman got up from the hole his landing made
"That was a bit unexpected, but I should be able to-" superman stops his sentence as he flies to the right with great speed to dodge one of the tyrannosaurus fireballs
"Of course it can shoot fire" superman sarcastically says as he begins to dodge the multiple frieballs of the creature, making sure that it keep shooting towards the sky as to not hit the city or the forest close by however the dinosaur begins to speed up it's firing and superman punches one of the fireballs to stop it from hitting the city but in the process burns his hand badly 'a second degree burn, I can handle him physically but his magic might be a big problem if I get hit directly... time to use this shield as it should be used' superman thinks as he equips the [polar lizard shield] and starts to not only block the fireballs with it but also use his now enhanced ice breath to extinguish multiple at once
the Black tyrannosaurus becomes infuriated by this and prepare a powerful fire breath strong enough to turn the entire capital of Melromarc into burned magma, seeing this superman prepares his own ice breath and the two shot each into the others attacks, after a bit of struggle Clark's ice breath overpowered the black tyrannosaurus fire breath freezing the mouth of the creature shut. this stop's the dinosaur from shooting any more fire but it enrages it once more as the gem in the creatures chest glows brighter and a dark red aura covers the monster
superman flies higher to try and avoid any other attack from the creature but the black tyrannosaur jumps into the air with force and speed similar to superman having used magic to boost all of it's stats, the monster does a back flip in the air to hit superman with it's tail and despite blocking it with his shield, he is still send to the ground like if a meteor the size of a car had hit the ground
"argh!" Clark let out a grunt of pain as he got up from the crash 'it dislocated my arm... it must have increased it's strength with magic, now it has a physical strength similar to mine or even greater' the man of steel thinks before once again dodging a devastating stomp from the monster, he is able to gather a large distance between him and the dino, clark check's his sun gauge before locking his eyes with the creature and taking a deep breath
"No holding back..." superman says as he prepares a uppercut while the creature rushes at him, the man of steel punches the tyrannosaurus in the jaw with 70% percent of his solar power, sending the monster flying into the air and into the atmosphere but before it can even get out of orbit, superman flies to be above it and charge's his laser vison with 50% of solar energy which sends the dinosaur back to the earth with the laser behind it causing immense pain to the monster
"*huf* *huf* *huf*...*huf*...*huf*..." superman slowly diminished his breath as he took a bit more solar energy before flying back into the earth before the black tyrannosaurus could hit the ground, Clark lined himself with where the dinosaur would hit and flew above the ground sticking his hands out when the black tyrannosaur would hit, breaking the spins of the monster with all the damage finally causing the monster to die as life fleed from its eyes
"it's *huf* done" he said as lay the body of the black tyrannosaurus before sitting, the fight against the beast has caused him to use 180% of the 300% solar charge limit he had, it was impressive for that single creature to require such amount of energy he collected to finish it off but seeing how he was now at a level beyond 200 as of before he was at level 26 just went to show how much of a difference in levels the two were
"I better go see if the raccoon girl and her people are safe" Clark says as he gets up and prepares to leave before hearing a sound coming from the dead corpse of the black tyrannosaur, it couldn't be it's heart beat aa the monster was dead and using his x ray vision superman could see a black gem with red veins in it glowing with a purple aura, he opens the creatures chest and removes the large stone from it, he holded in his hand and could feel like anger emit from the gem "... I should store this for a while until I know what this is and how I should dispose of it" Clark said as he didn't know if just breaking it with his hand was the best option as it could have some sort of magical consequence if it was broken without a proper ritual or something like it, he stored the Black Tyrant Dragon Rex core in inventory before absorbing the body of the dead dino

"do you think he is fine?" Raphtalia asked as she and the other freed slaves were able to escape with little trouble since everyone was focusing on the massive monster stomping around instead of two carriages speeding out of town, but now she was worried that both the shield hero and the creature killed each other or worst, that the giant tiny arms dragon had killed the hero and now was looking for a victory snack
"he is! he has to be!" Rifana screamed as she just meet the man of her dreams, he couldn't die until after they get married and life a long and romantic life together! if he was dead, she would kill herself right now
"I know he was strong but did you see the size of that thing? I didn't know that bastard had some like that under his place" Keel said, he couldn't believe that guy was keeping a giant dragon under his mansion and then unleashing this monstrosity after getting beat, he hoped the dragon ate that fat bastard and chew him very slowly just so he could see what was suffering
"what was that anyway?" Raphtalia asked, as although It matches the description of a dragon, it looked to different from one, almost like it was something similar but completely different in it's own way
"it's the Black Tyrant Dragon, he was sealed away by the cardinal heroes of ancient times" Rifana said as she had read almost every single story including the shield hero, the story said that it was the first opponent that the heroes couldn't beat even with their combined power, so they decide to seal it instead
"If even the four cardinal heroes couldn't beat him how can him e-"
"I'm back" superman says as he slowly lands on the outside of one of the carriages
"your arm!" Rifana screams out as she sees the Man of Steel wounds
"it's going to be fine...is just a second degree burn I can heal it once I'm fully charged but first..." superman says as he holds his dislocated arm and prepares for what was about to happen
"argh!" superman left out a small scream of pain as he put his dislocated shoulder back, even with his pain tolerance it was still a painful thing for him to do
"aah!" Keel and many of the other people inside the carriage screamed out as they just watched the man of steel move his arm back to place while making a sound of either bones breaking or muscles ripping
"there... relocated back into it's place" superman said as he slowly opened and closed his palm to see if it was fine
"... I never saw someone do that before" Keel said as he never saw such a brutal way to heal a wound before
"I can take you all back to your home le-"
"you have done enough" a man with horns and goat eyes and ears says as many other people nodded in agreement with him
"uh?" superman was confused at that since he it would be nothing for him to just-
"you're beat up and you need to rest if we get any problems we will tell you, please rest shield hero..." the goat man said as he and many others all agreed that their savior had already done enough for today
"..." superman takes a minute to think about it sighing before a smile appeared on his face "alright" the man of steel said as he flies to the carriage to the side and sit inside it with the other demi humans
"He is so cool an- Hey" Keel shouts as he sees Rifana prepare herself to jump over to the other carriage "What do you think you're doing" the dog boy grabs rifana to stop her attempt with raphtalia following soon
"let go of me Keel! the shield hero is hurt, I got to go there and comfort him!" Rifana said as she tried to get her arm free off keel's hold, she would not stand still while her beloved shield hero was hurt and as his future (and self proclaimed) wife she would be with him through disease and pain before death took them apart
"You are going to fall of the carriage and hurt yourself, just wait until we get to lurolona" Raphtalia said while she tried to keep rifana down, she and keel would have to do that for the whole night as the two carriages walked across the road to their home village

"Shit! how do we take this off" the slim crook said as he moved his arms around a tree to try and take the sword turned handcuffs out
"I don't know! it's almost like he melted this things together" the bald crook responded as he couldn't even see their restraints but it felt like they were as he had felt the handcuffs getting hot while he was unconscious
"what the hell are we going to do? wait until someone gets here?" the slim crook said, they had been in those two trees for a couple hours now and right now it was the best option to wait until someone passed by 'we can say the shield hero robbed us and put us here, I bet the guards of the capital would be happy to help us get back at him!'
"it seems lik-" he stopped what he was saying as the two heard a sound coming from a bush in front of them
"Piiiuuu?" a yellow filolia with ruff and dirt on its feathers pronounce as it came out of the bushes tilting it's head at the sight of the two tied up crooks
"oh no..." the bald crook begins to feel a chill down his spine once the bird starts to approach slowly
"what? is just a filolia" the slim crook asked, he had seen a bunch of filolians in the citys before and they were nothing but animals that like pushing stuff like carriages
"not any filolia, that's a wild one! those things eat anything!" the bald crook responded as he started to shake the handcuffs more violently to try and get away
"you are exaggerating, is just a dumb bird" the slim crook said to his companion in a angry tone, he looked at the animal and saw that it was looking across the dirt road beffore crossing like it was thinking a carriage was gonna pass or something
"hell nah, I saw them use a flock of these in the coliseum! things ate a bunch of contestants like they were bread!" the bald crook replied in terror, he had once went to Zeltobe to watch the matches in the coliseum with his brother and one of the fights was a well known adventurer that was sure to be a strong gladiator who was matched against a group of 10 filolians, the fight lasted a minute before he got devoured alive in front of the crowd, this one event gave the crook a chronic fear of the bird species and was even the reason he had dragons to pull his carriage
"Stop panicking it's just a- hey what are doing!" the slim criminal said as the large bird began pulling out his shoe and then proceeded to eat it
"these shoes were custom made you dumb Ouch! what are you doing!?" the slim crook screamed as the bird got up in his legs and began pecking them until bitting one of his thumbs off
"AAARGH! fuck! fucking animal! I will-"
"Guuaah! Guuaah! Piiiuuahh!" the yellow filolia began to growl and scream as it flapped it's wings
"What is this thing doing?" the slim crook asked while trying his best not to cry from pain, he wanted to kick the fucking bird as hard as he could but the bird was standing now on top of his legs
"Piiuu?" another filolia now in pink in coloration appeared from the bushes followed by two smaller and fluffier ones
"it w-was calling his f-flock" the bald crook responded trembling as the two tall filolias began rubbing each other's necks, they were a family of filolians and now they had found their meal
"you fucked up animals! not a step closer I warn you! I will burn you all with my mag-" before the crook could finish the sentence, the yellow filolian in the front pecked his throat so hard it began to bleed, as it started to eat his flesh
"No! Jerry!" the bald crook said before seeing the pink filolia and the two smaller chicks staring at him with their mouths salivating
"No!no!no!no!no!noooooo!!!!" the crook screamed at the top of his lungs as he and his companion were condemned to a terrible fate, as their bodies were never found

the black tyrant dragon shield is never shown in the series so I made what I think it gives if the entire body is absorbed, some may say is over powered but considering the black tyrano was only killed by Fitoria who by herself is at the level 3000 or so (plus it was sealed by some ancient cardinal heroes that couldn't defeat it even with their power's combined) also the Black Tyrant Dragon Rex core is gonna come back later, for now is just going to be sitting in superman's inventory
I plan on tackling new content with every chapter as superman will not follow the story structure of the original shield hero but I would also like to ask something for you guys, when would the Wave in Siltvelt or Zeltobe would happen? I got it already planned when they would happen but I want to hear your thoughts about it ( in my opinion it is a follows: first Faubley, second Siltvelt, third Melromarc, forth Zeltobe and finally Shieldfreeden. although I don't plan on focusing on Faubley a lot as I have only the third wave planned for it)
to 2zz3: definitely, but about Galileo joining his party... I don't intend on doing it but he could become a reoccurring character, aside from the first encounter I haven't really gave much thought on what he will do afterwards but maybe he could become sort of a rival to superman in the sense that he keeps coming back to challenge the man of steel to regain his pride after losing. I will have to brainstorm about it but first I got to get to Galileo
to shriramasokan: I don't see how any of that has to do with the fan fanfic, also didn't we got official crossover's between looney tunes and DC already? I remember reading Elmer vs Batman and it was fucking awesome
to zanzara: mostly solo but he will interact with other characters and have friends
to Student: he will have friends and allies but none will be with him at all time, lurolona will definitely be a base of sorts for him but only the other cardinal heroes and vassal heroes will be fighting with him in the waves

Ren will learn more about the world and I plan on having him synchronize his weapon with the hourglass of Zeltobe, I also plan on when he would learn about the vassal heroes but that's for later and he would not talk with motoyasu and Itsuki about this because he wouldn't like to share the loot if he can and if they fight together he won't get the exp so he would try to keep this a secret until he feels that he is far ahead the other to let them know, but the thing is that both would have had their own interactions with the helpful "NPC" Clark Kent. there is something I plan for motoyasu aftet the first wave but I can't reveal it right now, but Myne will come to hate clark just as much she hates superman as time goes on although not as much as another person that will... well that's a spoiler so I better not reveal it just yet
to hawko2634: I feel like this is the second time you commented about this, no I didn't change it as your original comment was talking about how you thought that was bad. look I understand why you don't like it but the true is that I only realized after posting the chapter and at that point I would have to rewrite a lot of the interactions with the other heroes and so I kind of just left it there, him introducing himself as Kal-El was always the plan since I wanted Clark Kent to be his secret identity in this world but then I guess the report part just sorta... happened? I don't know how to explain but it just passed by my head and I didn't think it was that bad so I inserted into the fic. I hope you now understand why that happened
to ZukahaniMultiColor: yes, although I don't plan on having him learn magic this soon... maybe after the second wave, but be sure that once the wave hits a lot of talk about the man of steel will begin circulation amongst more people including the Siltvelt council...
to Chris: you're right on that, I was thinking of keeping the magic weakness by having his magic defense going up 1 every 10 levels but now his level 480? 300? whatever the level he is it won't matter much when writing the fights as superman was NEVER consistent, like seriously the power dial gets changed so often it's crazy but even in the original shield hero we didn't know a lot of the shields naofumi unlocked and at times it felt that he was covered in some weird plot armor that had to remind us that he is the strongest amongst the three heroes by a gigantic amount that they will never pass (there are explanations in canon to justify this but as shield hero is kinda of a power fantasy it could be the author just doing his thing to make sure naofumi would always win, I don't want to keep hating on naofumi or shield hero but it doesn't help that the first thing I learned about naofumi was that there was a scene in the manga were he wants to buy a slave army of children, that one out of context scene made me hate him so much and even with context it doesn't help either)
