Miguel has already confessed to murdering Mike. Jamey looks up what they have on this Miguel Sanchez. As a teenager he got involved with gangs, sold drugs, and eventually murdered a rival dealer. Miguel then spent 20 years in prison for this murder, where he adapted quickly. Miguel had several illegal businesses operating while incarcerated, even made enough to help keep his son away from a life of crime. Then Miguel made parole, and found life on the outside more difficult than anticipated. He had gone from having money and power to working as a janitor. Miguel claimed that his motive was he wanted to go back into prison. Jack and Eric question him on the way to CTU.
.
Eric: Why'd you kill this guy?
Miguel: So I can go back to prison, where things make more sense.
Eric: Why him specifically?
Miguel: He tried to murder children, noone who's incarcerated will judge me for killing that scum.
Jack: You realize he was a government witness? You could be executed for this murder.
Miguel: Yeah but that would take years, and I could have more fun in there in the meantime.

Major Barnes is called by an informant, someone he trusts. He tells Barnes that Hekmetyar is trying to meet covertly with other Taliban leaders. If one of them was involved in the attack on the embassy, this might be their best chance to find out. Barnes knew he didn't have much time left, but it might be the last chance to make certain that the people who killed Americans don't get away with it so easily.

The president's husband Rod comes to see her.
.
Allen: Yes Rod?
Rod: Horace just told me something, and we should talk about it.
Allen: Okay. I should be able to finish this meeting in about 15 minutes.

Miguel is brought to an interrogation room along with the sniper rifle. George Mason asks to see Jack, so Eric interrogates Miguel.
.
Eric: You're saying you assembled this rifle?
Miguel: I did.
Eric: Show me how you did it.
.
Miguel just sat, frozen, having no idea how to use this particular gun. Eric realized that Miguel was just a willing dupe. The question was who was pulling the strings.
.
Jack spoke with Mason in Mason's office.
.
Jack: What is it George?
Mason: It's about Nina Myers.
.
This name hit Jack pretty hard. Years ago Jack had worked with Nina, they even had an affair. But Nina was also a spy and a traitor. When her cover was exposed she murdered Jack's wife Teri.
.
Jack: What about Nina?
Mason: After president Palmer was forced to pardon her she was exiled to North Africa, where we could at least keep an eye of her. But she escaped, and we recently learned that she's in Cuba.
Jack: What about our assets in Cuba?
Mason: Everyone she knew about is safe in the US, but there are other secrets she could sell to the Castro government. For that matter she could sell it to the right wing groups fighting against Castro. Or she could just sell it to whatever drug cartels offer the most money. Currently Nina is in the jungle, in an area controlled by the cartels and that acts as an unofficial barrier between the government and the rebels. She could put American assets at risk, but president Allen is trying to negotiate a peace with the cuban government, so we can't officially send american assets to retrieve her.
Jack: But I could go, and if I'm caught you all claim you knew nothing about it.
Mason: That's a definite possibility. But if you want to turn down this mission, we can't force you to do it, and I wouldn't blame you for just walking out and telling me to go F... myself.
.
Split screens show Jack contemplating this mission, Eric Carter interrogating Miguel, Heather eyeing Georgia and Layeq suspiciously, Rod eying his son with dissapointment, major Barnes contemplating how to bug Hekmetyar's meeting.
.
Jack had built a good life for himself. He was, for once, in a good place with his friends and family. But he also wanted revenge for the murder of his wife.
.
Jack: I'm in George. Just tell me where Nina is, and I'll retrieve her.
