The thing about Skye

She can purr.

No one will actually tell Daisy this because, well, she doesn't actually know. She only does it when she isn't conscious enough to be on edge, and that happens rarely enough.

Cat naps, the team takes to calling Daisy's sleep schedule because, well, Daisy still only sleeps in intervals between 20 minutes and two hours at a time (the appearance of the purring just cements the term).

But those short periods of time happen more and more out in the open rather than hidden away nooks throughout the base.

It becomes not uncommon for Daisy to grouchily stalk into the lounge, black smudged eyes automatically taking in the entirety of the room, and then claim a couch for her bed and someone's lap for a pillow.

And it's… Well, they are just grateful that Daisy is sleeping at all.

But it's because of this new occurrence that Daisy's purring is discovered. By Mack, actually. Shortly after she claimed his lap one day, a rumbling vibration started up. Mack thought she was snoring at first, until he laid a hand on Daisy's back and felt the pulsing tremble coming from it, rather than Daisy's vocals.

"Is she..?" Mack had stopped May as she was on her way to the kitchen area for a cup of tea. "Is she purring?"

May had paused. Tilted her head in Daisy's direction. And then nodded affirmingly. "Yes." Then she continued on her way as if this wasn't a startling and wondrous discovery of everyone's favorite agent.

(But Mack found May the next day, sitting casually in the lounge and looking down oh-so-fondly at the pile of inhuman in her lap, as Daisy purred away in her much-needed sleep.)

It doesn't take long for everyone else to find out, each thrilled when she takes up on their lap and they get to experience the calm rumbling, and test out ways to make that sound grow louder.

It's up to Simmons to explain, very quietly as she scratches her nails along the back of Skye's scalp, that the inhuman is subconsciously vibrating her respiratory muscles. Much like cats, the vibrations must have a healing, self-soothing, quality.

Aside from Fitz, the others just think it's endearing.

And no one tells Daisy.

A/N: I whole-heartedly support this being cannon, and you can't change my mind. Here's a short, fluffy, chapter for you guys. I'll get back to the trauma soon enough, don't worry.

Let me know if you guys might want some more soft chapters like this in the future. It might be an interesting change from straight angst.
