TheOfficialLieDetector: You've been around a long time if you remember that old story. But I'm a much better writer now so I wanted to bring the codenumbuh back, even if the two versions are pretty different characters, with the only real thing they have in common being they're partly based on me.
The first battle of another war and Numbuh 362 and Numbuh 60's first time seeing their new adult allies' battle capabilities. Now let's begin!
"We need to get down there!" Hathor declared, expressing the thoughts pretty much everyone was feeling. Even from where they were, they could hear the screams of the innocent people that were getting attacked.
"Numbuh 417, Numbuh 8 Infinity, the three of us need to fly down and begin our defensive measures," Leongar ordered, quickly slipping back into his royal/Supreme Leader tone of voice. "Numbuh Hang 10, I trust you can get the others down quickly?"
"You got it, Numbuh 4.3 Light Years dude," Numbuh Hang 10 declared as he quickly saluted his old commander.
"You sure you've still got the practice for this?" Numbuh 417 asked with a smirk.
"A prince always defends his people and I never slip up on my training," Numbuh 4.3 Light Years assured his old comrade.
"Who said I was talking to you?" Numbuh 417 asked as she turned to Numbuh 8 Infinity, who huffed and crossed her arms.
I'm fine. You know how dangerous my home planet is" Numbuh 8 Infinity replied. Numbuh 417 just chuckled as she took to the skies, the royal couple in her (literal) tail.
"So, what's the fastest way down?" Numbuh 666 asked, causing everyone to turn to Numbuh Hang 10 who was already heading for the stairs.
"...Stairs? Really?" Numbuh 362 couldn't help but question. She was expecting some kind of speeder platform or a teleporter.
"What? Did ya think we just jumped off the platform and hoped we didn't break all the bones in our body?" Numbuh Hang 10 asked, a goofy looking grin on his face.
"No!" Numbuh 362 quickly replied. "I was…thinking of something more high tech like a teleporter or something."
"Sorry ta disappoint, but we don't have that kinda tech yet," Numbuh 6 Shot replied. "Those movies y'all got overblow a lot of it."
"I was working on it, but a lot of governments told me to stop because too many test subjects were coming back 'horribly traumatized' or 'with all of their body parts rearranged'." Numbuh 666 grumbled with his arms crossed, clearly not caring over what exactly he did. "You can't make an omelet without breaking a few rathtar eggs! Besides, I fixed the ones with body problems!" Numbuh 362 and Numbuh 60 shared a nervous look. It was slowly becoming clear that Numbuh 666 was more than a little off his rocker.
"Hey, we're almost at the beach!" Numbuh Hang 10 called out as he pointed ahead. Sure enough, the sounds of battle had become much louder. "Listen, I gotta go grab my weapon from my place. You guys should be good for right now."
"Just come back quick poppet. I'm sure Numbuh 417 isn't exactly willing to share," Numbuh 6 Shot reminded his boyfriend. The duo shared a kiss before Numbuh Hang 10 sped off and Numbuh 6 Shot drew his pistols and charged into the fray. Taking his lead, Numbuh 666 pulled out his own gun while Numbuh 362 and Numbuh 60 also pulled their own weapons out.
"I've got spares if you two want something more high tech?" Numbuh 666 offered, even pulling his jacket open to reveal several guns and other weapons that seemed to have his logo on them.
"I think we're good with what we have," Numbuh 60 assured him as he spun his M.U.S.K.E.T pistol around his fingers before taking aim at one of the soldiers, which appeared to be a robot, who had spotted the trio and was moving to attack. Much to his joy, it succeeded in knocking the soldier away.
"Well then," Numbuh 666 said, clearly impressed. "But enough talk. Let's get butt kicking!"
"You said it!" Numbuh 60 agreed as they, along with Numbuh 362, charged into the battle. Luckily, there were still plenty of foot soldiers to go around, much to everyone's joy. Numbuh 362 was the next to get a successful attack, using her Yield Staff as a pole vault to launch herself towards another robot, sending it flying back into the water with a kick where it quickly shorted out.
"Nice move, smallfry!" Numbuh 417 complimented before grabbing two more soldiers, these ones appearing organic, coming towards her, one with her hands and one with her tail, before jumping up and spinning around rapidly, which left both completely disoriented. "Hey, anyone up for a body count contest?"
"I'm game!" Numbuh 666 called out as he blasted two more robots, before stabbing a third with his spider legs.
"But how exactly would that work?" Numbuh 8 Infinity questioned as she tore a robot's core out. "Since there are a mix of both living beings and robots, what exactly are we counting?"
"Yeah, I don't really want to kill anyone," Numbuh 60 chimed in as he M.U.S.K.E.T-whipped another soldier that had gotten too close to him. He was totally down for the body count contest, but not if he had to kill anyone. Genocidal terrorists they may be, but it didn't change the fact that the Galactic Kids Next Door operatives were still kids and he felt iffy about the idea of killing them.
"I suppose we could count knockouts," Numbuh 4.3 Light Years offered as he sliced a few robots in half.
"But then how would we tell?" Numbuh 362 asked as she used Numbuh 417 as a springboard to slam down on a robot, before proceeding to leap from one to another, bashing their faces in as she went. "We could knock one down, but it turns out that it didn't actually knock them out."
"Can you all please focus?" Numbuh 6 Shot begged as he swatted a group of charging soldiers away with his tail, which had the added bonus of sending them flying into other soldiers. Behind him, Numbuh 1849 changed into a bull and charged forward, scattering several other robots and operatives.
"Sorry for trying to find enjoyment in this," Numbuh 417 groaned as she opened fire with her tail gun, nailing pretty much every shot. "Some of us like to have fun even when on the-HATHOR LOOK OUT!"
"Huh?" Numbuh 6 Shot asked before turning around and finding himself facing down a rather large laser cannon. Thinking quickly, he raised his pistols to shoot, only to find he had run out of ammo. "Damnit."
"Hah! So long, stupid adult traitor!" The operative in question sneered as he got ready to fire, only for Numbuh 6 Shot to suddenly pull out a lasso and toss it towards the operative, seemingly missing. "Ha! You missed!"
"Oh did I?" Numbuh 6 Shot asked smugly as he pulled on his end of the rope, using the rock he happened to grab as a makeshift flail, sending it flying into the operative threatening him. A robot came up behind him, but Numbuh 6 Shot made no move to stop it. His faith was soon rewarded as a spear pierced the robot's inside. The robot fell, revealing Numbuh Hang 10, holding a spear fishing esc crossbow.
"Bogus, looks like I missed most of the fight," Numbuh Hang 10 groaned, although he was grinning either way.
"There's still plenty of goons to go around," Numbuh 666 replied, blasting two more to prove his point. This wound up being the tone of the fight, with the members of Sector Alpha, Numbuh 4.3 Light Years, Numbuh 362 and Numbuh 60 easily tearing their way through the Galactic Kids Next Door's forces.
"Ah, that was fun!" Numbuh 417 cheered as she stretched, a grin plastered on her face.
"I don't think we're done," Numbuh 4.3 Light Years gravely noted as he looked over the destruction littering the beachside. "We have yet to fight the leader of this force."
"I see you never lost your edge, traitor," A voice sneered.. An anthropomorphic rat, body mostly covered by a cloak and holding a cane, walked towards them. He was grinning and both of his eyes were covered by a high tech looking visor.
"Numbuh XXX," Numbuh 8 Infinity sneered right back.
"Who's this guy?" Numbuh 362 asked, remaining on guard. She had a feeling this guy was not a friend in any way.
"One of Numbuh Aleph Zero's lackeys," Numbuh 666 replied, his voice bitter. "We used to work together back before he turned on me."
Numbuh XXX snickered. "Oh don't say that, old friend! After all, you're the one who turned against our mission!"
"You turned against that mission!" Numbuh 666 roared, his gun already aimed at the rat creature. "And you stole a lot of my work in the process!"
"Wrong!" Numbuh XXX replied with a wave of his hand. "I merely improved most of them! For example-" He then pulled out a remote and hit a button. One of the ship's doors opened, revealing five mechs. "Behold-Project Z! I was hoping we wouldn't need them, but since the grunts I was given couldn't hack it, I guess I'll be playing my trump card!"
"We've already been smashing your bots! How are these gonna do any-'' Whatever Numbuh 417 was about to say was cut off by one of the mechs sucker punching her and knocking her back.
"Dodge!" Numbuh 362 called out as the other four robots quickly began to attack. While they were decently sluggish, they also all hit like trucks, forcing the operatives all to dodge and jump around.
"Do these things have any weaknesses!?" Numbuh 60 called out as he found himself pinned down with his shots doing pretty much nothing against the mech coming towards him.
"If that project is what I think it is, then you need to aim for the cores in the chest," Numbuh 666 called out as he dodged another strike. Sure enough, all five mechs did have visible cores.
"Alright, guess that's our goal!" Numbuh 8 Infinity replied. "Kids Next Door, BATTLE STATIONS!" Numbuh 362 and Numbuh 60 couldn't help but grin at that. The fact that battle cry was universal was certainly comforting. Numbuh 4.3 Light Years was the first to successfully destroy a core, embedding his poleaxe into the core. Numbuh 362 and Numbuh 417 were the next to destroy one, teaming up to hold back the mech's arms while the other impaled the core. A quick shot from Numbuh Hang 10 dealt with the third while Numbuh 6 Shot put through several bullet holes through the four. Finally, Numbuh 666 wordlessly ripped the last one out with his bare claw.
"Hmph! So maybe you adults and traitors are better than we thought," Numbuh XXX sneered as he used a strange ray to gather up the deactivated mechs and unconscious operatives, loading them back onto the ship. "But this was just a warm up! The Galactic Kids Next Door will reign supreme!" With that, he returned to his ship, cackling all the while.
"So…" Numbuh 60 had been wondering about this pretty much since they meant Numbuh XXX. "If you knew that guy, how is he still a kid while you guys are all adults."
"My guess? They're draining youth," Numbuh 666 gruffly noted, anger still clear in his voice. "It was something Numbuh XXX cooked up once he was fully working with Aleph Zero. Basically, it was a way to ensure they'd always be kids…at the cost of stealing youth from others."
"There's a lot of health problems with it too," Numbuh 417 noted. "I don't get a lot of the logistics of it, but since we're supposed to age naturally, preventing yourself from doing so is…very bad."
"Is that why he needed the cane?" Numbuh 362 had to ask.
"Most likely, if I head to reckon" Numbuh 6 Shot declared as he reholstered his pistols before turning to his former Supreme Leader. "Numbuh 4.3 Light Years, what's the plan?"
"We need to send out a message," Numbuh 4.3 Light Years declared. "It's time to warn everyone about the return of Numbuh Aleph Zero."
What, you didn't think Sector Alpha and Numbuh 4.3 Light Years were my only OCs for this story, did you? Well, it's time to introduce one of our first villains! And has for his headcanon voice
