Pink stirred her oatmeal slowly as she sat across from her sisters. It just wasn't fair! Blue and Yellow got to go on trips together all the time and had since Blue was like seventeen.
"How're you feeling Pink? You must feel much better now that you're home and safe." Blue questioned, though it was more of a statement, one Pink was tired of hearing. She wished her family wouldn't tell her how she was feeling.
"Yeah for sure, much better." She agrees blandly as she continues to push her oatmeal slowly, eyeing her sisters with a bored like flippant stare. Yellow seems uncharacteristically silent, she hasn't spoken once since Pink came downstairs.
"Hello my little Moondrop." White greeted Blue, kissing the top of her head. Before she gave Yellow's shoulder a little squeeze, "Good morning Sunshine." She added before she turned to her youngest who wouldn't even look at her. "Good morning Starlight." She tried anyway, but Pink just continued to stir her oatmeal and scowl.
"Good morning mother. I hope you and Pink faired well in our absence?" Blue piped up once she realized her younger sister had no intention of acknowledging their mother whatsoever. Blue just wanted to keep their mother as happy as possible. Something Pink was making rather difficult.
"Well, we've been adjusting, talked some stuff over, made some new rules and decided some things." White exclaimed picking up her cup of coffee that Yellow slid over to her, Pink scoffed loudly at White's words and Blue looked away, fearful of her sister's attitude and what emotions it would invoke in their somewhat temperamental mother.
"Yellow, I trust that you and Blue took care of everything I asked of you?" White questioned, ignoring Pink's temper tantrum as she eyed the oldest intently.
"Well we had a good time, checked on those little companies you own, and sold that estate in England for you." Yellow answered softly, her voice uncharacteristically small. She swallowed slightly before meeting White's steely blue eyes, as she mustered up her confidence, straightening in her chair "And we checked up on G-" suddenly White slammed her coffee cup onto the table, making Yellow freeze up instantly as her mouth snapped shut and her eyes dropped to her shaking hands. Both Pink and Blue jumped at the sound.
"I don't care what frivolous activities you two got up to in your free time on the trip." She stated in a scary calm voice as she slowly raised her cup, shooting daggers at Yellow as she sipped delicately at her coffee as if she hadn't just banged it against the table. Blue tentatively placed her hand on Yellow's knee, trying to comfort her as silently as possible.
"Well, I'd like to know what you guys did for fun on the trip. Who'd you check up on?" Pink asked, mostly to spite her mother and because her mom was being rather shady.
After finding out her mother was keeping things like shutting down orphanages for kicks to herself, Pink kind of was interested to see if her mother was a complete monster or if that was the only awful thing she did.
"That's not important right now, what's important is that they made it back in one piece. How was your flight girls?" White interrupted and Pink huffed, irritated at her mom's balant interrupting and not so subtle subject changing. It infuriated the young teen.
"Oh our flight was wonderful, and we got in rather earlier than we'd thought." Blue exclaimed readily taking the subject change, trying to keep the peace and please her mother as much as possible.
"Ah well that's good." White encouraged faking a chipper tone that made Pink's scowl deepen.
"Excuse me, but I've lost my appetite." Pink grumbled, loudly scooted her chair back and grabbed her still full bowl and dumped it out and stormed away.
"Pink-" White started to chastise when the teen popped her head in briefly.
"I'm going to my room, where I always am." She stated before she disappeared and loud stomps could be heard going up the stairs.
"You better watch your tone little girl!" She called after her teen. Pink just groaned in response. White knew she'd likely have to talk with her youngest about her attitude again, but first she had to deal with her other kids. White waited until she heard Pink's bedroom door slam shut before she leveled her two oldests with a stern glare.
"What was that?" She demanded cooly, making them briefly share a look before avoiding eye contact and muttering random ramblings before the mother held up her hand and silenced their incoherent babbling. Blue finally bit the bullet trying to keep her mom from being upset with Yellow.
"W-well we just thought you'd like to hear-"
"Obviously neither of you were thinking or you'd have remembered not to bring that up in front of your sister!" She evenly stated, both women shivered at the dark glint that shined in their mother's eyes. Yellow looked down biting her lip, likely to keep her temper in check.
"We're very sorry mother, honest...Yellow just had a bad time-" Blue started to rationalize hurriedly and White threw her hands up at the blonde's words as an irrational anger overcame her at her daughter's statement.
"Well maybe you wouldn't have a bad time if you two had controlled yourselves three years ago!" She snapped and instantly regretted it when Blue gasped loudly then quickly stood from the table and burst into tears as she ran from the room, head in her hands.
Before White could apologize to Yellow, the short haired young woman silently stood and left out the back door, slamming it loudly behind her. With a heavy sigh White finished her coffee and stood to go find Blue.
"What'd you do?" Pink asked sitting on the top step, staring her mother down. A paranoia filled White, had Pink heard everything they'd said?
"Eavesdropping is impolite darling." She said cooly, and Pink rolled her eyes.
"I wasn't eavesdropping, I heard yelling and slamming and Blue crying!" Pink explained a slight whine to her tone that irritated the already tired mother. It wasn't even eight o'clock yet!
"Are you ready for school baby?" She questioned instead grabbing her youngest's backpack off the hook by the door. Pink frowned at the question.
"Well yeah, but why's Bl-"
"Then let's go, we don't want any tardes on your record." She exclaimed cheerfully opening the front door and gestured for Pink to follow. Reluctantly she complied.
"Mom, my first class is really chill, so-" White sighed heavily, tugging her baby's hoodie over her head and tugged her by the sleeve towards the limo that was idling in the driveway.
"You will be on time to your classes Pink, I don't care how "chill" your teachers are, unless you want me to pull you from school right now!" She chastised evenly, as she climbed into the limo. Pink scoffed loudly as she slumped in after her mom, grumbling under her breath.
"Okay, I get it, geez." She huffed slumping in her seat. White scowled at her attitude, and the influence those other teens had had on her baby.
"If you ever speak to me this way again, you will regret it, you are a child. I expect you to talk to me with respect!" White hissed grabbing Pink's face, forcing eye contact with the teen.
For a moment they held a very intense stare, finally, reluctantly, Pink backed down, ducking her head in defeat.
"Sorry." She whispered trying to keep her tone even. White moved her hand from her cheek and brushed a lock of strawberry blonde hair behind her ear and cupped her cheek gently.
"You know I love you more than anything else don't you?" She questioned brushing her thumb across Pink's cheek.Pink suddenly felt unreasonably guilty for treating her mom so awful.
"I know, I love you too mama." She sniffed softly and White smiled fondly. She was rather pleased to see some of her daughter's past self shine through. If she could've just kept her as that little pudgy two year old, then she could keep her contained and close always.
"You enjoy your last week of school." White encouraged evenly and suddenly Pink's scowl returned full force and she turned away from her mother angrily as they completed the short ride to her school, pulling into the drop off area.
"See you at three thirty." Was her daughter's parting statement before the vehicle door was slammed in her face.
White just hoped this attitude would be over with, once Pink got away from this school and those hooligans Pink called friends. She watched her baby stomp towards the school entrance.
One child was taken care of for now. White tugged her phone from her pocket.
Now she just had to deal with Yellow and Blue.
