On top of hill, we see three mysterious figures which turns out to be Ash, Rainbow Dash and Fluttershy as Ash created a bright light with his magic as they read the title of the next chapter!
Ash: Chapter 16!
Rainbow Dash: Sonic...
Fluttershy: Rainboom!
Soon, Rainbow was practicing her skills for something even I don't know spell right now!
Fluttershy: Yay.
Rainbow Dash: [deep breath] And now, phase one of my routine.
Fluttershy: Wooo.
Rainbow Dash: Phase two.
Fluttershy: Way to go.
Rainbow Dash: Here we go. Phase three. The sonic rainboom. C'mon! [grunt] Uh-oh. [scream]
Meanwhile at the library, the rest of the girls and Ash had just finished up putting the books back on the shelves!
Twilight Sparkle: [sigh] Last one. Thank you so much for helping me clean up all these books, guys. It was a crazy week of studying.
Ash: It was no trouble, Twilight! I needed something to do anyway! And you know I'm always willing to help a friend in need!
Twilight Sparkle: And I appreciate it, Ash!
Pikachu: [senses something with its sensitive ears] Hold on! Something's coming out way!
Rainbow Dash: [screams]
Pikachu: Incoming!
[crash]
Twilight Sparkle: [grunt]
Pinkie Pie: [grunt]
Applejack: [grunt]
Fluttershy: Rainbow Dash, you rock! Woohoo. [gasp] Did my cheering do that?
Ash: [popping his head out] Ouch! No, you didn't!
Rainbow Dash: Hehe. Sorry about that ladies and Ash. That was a truly feeble performance.
Fluttershy: Actually, it wasn't all bad. I particularly liked it when you made the clouds spin.
Rainbow Dash: Ugh. I'm not talking about my performance, I'm talking about yours. That feeble cheering!
Twilight Sparkle: What are you two arguing about?
Fluttershy: Were we arguing? I'm sorry.
Rainbow Dash: [grunt] I wish you guys could come to Cloudsdale to see me compete in the Best Young Flyer Competition.
Twilight Sparkle: What's that?
Pinkie Pie: It's where all the greatest Pegasus flyers get together and show off their different flying styles! Some are fast! [makes car sounds] And some are graceful. Whoa, whoa, whoa!
Applejack: Golly. I'd love to see you strut yer stuff in that competition.
Rainbow Dash: Yeah. I wish you guys could be there. Fluttershy's a great support, but her cheering isn't exactly inspirational.
Pinkie Pie: Ooh! I'd love to see you make a sonic rainboom! It's like, the most coolest thing ever! Even though I've never actually seen it, but I mean come on! It's a sonic rainboom! How not cool could it possibly not be?!
Twilight Sparkle: What's a sonic rainboom?
Pinkie Pie: You really need to get out more. The sonic rainboom is legendary! When a Pegasus like Rainbow Dash gets going sooo fast... Boom! A sonic boom and a rainbow can happen all at once!
Applejack: And Rainbow Dash here's the only pony to ever pull it off!
Ash: That's pretty cool!
Pikachu: I'll say!
Rainbow Dash: It was a long time ago... I was just a filly.
Pinkie Pie: Yeah, but you're gonna do it again, right?
Rainbow Dash: Are... you kidding? I'm the greatest flyer to ever come out of Cloudsdale! I could do sonic rainbooms in my sleep.
Ash: In your sleep?! [suspicious] That's sounds impossible!
Twilight Sparkle: Wow. If you pull that off, you'll win the crown for sure!
Rainbow Dash: The grand prize is an entire day with the Wonderbolts. A whole day of flying with my lifelong heroes... It'll be a dream come true!
Fluttershy: Yay.
Rainbow Dash: I'm gonna go rest up. Don't wanna over prepare myself, y'know. Hehe. You, on the other hand, better keep practicing. I need a cheering section to match my spectacular performance.
Fluttershy: She's practiced that move a hundred times, and she's never even come close to doing it. I don't know if I can cheer loud enough to help her.
Twilight Sparkle: Well, guess we better get this cleaned up... again.
Rarity: Go on, go on.
Twilight Sparkle: Go on what?
Rarity: Find a spell that will get us wingless ponies into Cloudsdale. Didn't you see how nervous she was?
Applejack: Nervous? Have you spit yer bit or somethin'? She was tootin' her own horn louder than the brass section of a marching band!
Ash: Yeah! She did seem confident!
Rarity: Oh, puh-lease. I have put on enough fashion shows to recognize stage fright when I see it. We've got to find a way to be there for her. Now go on! [shoves Twilight]
Twilight Sparkle: Owaa! Ugh. How am I supposed to find a flight spell in this mess?
Pinkie Pie: A flight spell? One sec. Page twenty-seven.
Applejack: How'd you do that?
Pinkie Pie: It landed on my face when Rainbow Dash knocked me into the bookcase.
Ash: Pinkie! You can be a genius when you tend to be!
Twilight Sparkle: Here it is! A spell that will allow Earth ponies to fly for three days. Ooh, it looks really difficult... I'm not sure I can do it.
Rarity: You've got to try!
Twilight Sparkle: Okay... But who's gonna volunteer to be the test subject?
Rarity: I will! For Rainbow Dash, I will go first.
Ash: Are you sure?
Rarity: Positive!
Twilight Sparkle: Here goes. [grunts] [screams]
Applejack: [gasp]
Twilight Sparkle: I think it worked!
Ash: I guess so! Well, Pikachu and I are gonna check out Cloudsdale! Join us when you're done! [flies off with Pikachu]
Later...
Rainbow Dash: You've got to learn to be assertive, Fluttershy. Don't be afraid to speak up.
Ash: Hey, guys!
Rainbow Dash: Ash? Pikachu? What are you two doing here?
Ash: We thought we'd tag along with you to see Cloudsdale! High time I got to see where you originally lived!
Soon, they arrived in Cloudsdale!
Ash: Wow! So this is Cloudsdale? It looks so cool!
Pikachu: And cloudy!
Then, they heard some unfriendly voices!
"Dumb-Bell": Well, well, well. What do we have here?
Hoops: It's our old friend Rainbow Crash!
"Dumb-Bell": Get kicked outta any flight schools lately?
"Dumb-Bell", Hoops, and "Score": [laughs]
Rainbow Dash: I DIDN'T get kicked out.
"Dumb-Bell": Face it, Rainbow Crash. Flight school had TOO many rules, and not enough naptimes for you.
Hoops: Huh, ask her about the sonic rainboom.
"Dumb-Bell": That's nothing but an old mare's tale. You don't have the skills to try something like that.
Ash: [marching over to the three colt pegasus] Just a hardboiled minute! [as the three colt pegasus backed up nervously as he got up in their faces] What is this?! A free-for-all bully session?! How dare you say that to my friend!
"Dumb-Bell": Oh, and why do you care? Are you her coltfriend?
"Dumb-Bell", Hoops, and "Score": [laughs]
Ash: [blushes] No! Shut up! Now listen here! Rainbow Dash CAN do a Sonic Rainboom! And she is!
"Dumb-Bell": No she's not, 'cause there's no such thing!
Ash: And how do you know, huh?! Do you have any proof that it doesn't exist!
"Dumb-Bell": W-Well, no! But...
Ash: But nothing! And if you don't believe me, then why don't you show up to the Cloudeseum and see for yourself! Now, as Prince of Friendship, I command you three to stop picking on my friend or some of my canine Pokémon back in Ponyville will have found three new chew toys! Do I make myself clear?!
"Dumb-Bell": [as he, Hoops and "Score" kneeled before him] C-Crystal clear, your majesty!
Ash: Good! Now scram!
And the three colt pegasus flew away!
Ash: Good for nothing, bullies!
Fluttershy: Wow, Ash! You're both assertive and aggressive!
Ash: Well, what can I say! No one picks on my friends and gets away with it!
Rainbow Dash: [sigh] Those guys are right. I'll never be able to do it.
Fluttershy: But Rainbow Dash, just because you've failed the sonic rainboom a hundred thousand times in practice doesn't mean you won't be able to do it in front of an entire stadium, full of impatient, super-critical sportsfan ponies.
Ash: Fluttershy! I don't think that's helping!
Rainbow Dash: Aaaaaah! What do I do?! Everypony's gonna see me fail! The Wonderbolts will never let a loser like me join. Princess Celestia will probably banish me to the Everfree Forest! My life is RUINED!
Ash: [shakes Rainbow Dash] Pull yourself together, Rainbow! My sister wouldn't banish you! You're too important! And so what if you're not that good! Nobody's gonna judge you! What matters is that you try your best!
Rainbow Dash: I know! But I just don't know what to do!
Fluttershy: Rare...
Rainbow Dash: Rare?! The sonic rainboom is way more than rare!
Fluttershy: Rarity?
That was when they saw Rarity with butterfly wings!
Rainbow Dash: Rarity! Are you... flying?!
Rarity: I most certainly am! Aren't my wings smashing?! Twilight made them for me. I just adore them! Why so shocked? We couldn't leave our favorite flyer without a big cheering section!
Rainbow Dash: "We"?
That was when the rest of the girls, along with Charizard, Naganadel, Dragonite, Staraptor, Unfezant, Archen and Talonflame came into view on a balloon!
Rainbow Dash: I... I can't believe it!
Charizard: Well, believe it!
Fluttershy: It's incredible!
Rainbow Dash: This is so cool! You guys made it!
Pinkie Pie: Sure did! [hops out of the basket]
Rainbow Dash: Wait!
But Pinkie Pie landed on the clouds without falling! Same thing with Twilight and Applejack!
Rainbow Dash: How'd you do that? Only Pegasus ponies can walk on clouds.
Pinkie Pie: [does cartwheels] Haha. Pretty cool, huh?
Twilight Sparkle: I found a spell that makes temporary wings, but it was too difficult to do more than once. So I found an easier spell that lets the rest of us walk on clouds.
Applejack: And we came to cheer you to victory!
Rainbow Dash: To be honest, I was starting to get just the teeniest, tiniest bit nervous. But I feel a lot better now that you guys are here. Hey, we've got some time before the competition. Why don't Fluttershy and I show you around Cloudsdale?
Rarity, Applejack, Twilight Sparkle and Pinkie Pie: Yes!
Ash: I love a good tour! In all honesty, I wanna see everything about the home of the fastest pegasus in all of Equestria!
That made Rainbow tint a little blush from that! Soon, the tour had begun!
Rainbow Dash: Here it is: the greatest city in the sky!
Group: Oooh! Aaah!
But Rarity was admiring herself in a mirror!
Rarity: [in mirror] Oooh! Aaah!
Rainbow Dash: Uhh... Some of the greatest Pegasi in history came from Cloudsdale!
Rarity: Oh, wait for me! [flutters after them]
Not too far away, some construction pegasi were working on something when they saw Rarity's wings!
[jackhammer sounds]
Steam Roller: Those wings are gorgeous!
Rarity: Why, thank you!
Twilight Sparkle: Be careful with those wings, Rarity. They're made from gossamer and morning dew, and they're incredibly delicate.
Rarity: Don't worry, Twilight. I'm sure they can't get worn out from too much attention.
Ash: You should listen to Twilight, Rarity! It might end up bad for you if you lose your wings!
Applejack: Since we're up here, I'd sure like to get a look at where the weather's made.
Rainbow Dash: Great idea! C'mon, girls. To the weather factory!
Ash: Weather factory? This I gotta see!
Soon, they arrived at the weather factory!
[thunder]
Rainbow Dash: This is where they make the snowflakes. Each one is hoofmade. As you can see, it's a delicate operation.
Rarity: [gasp] Ooh, the snowflakes look even better from up here.
But then, Rarity's wings kicked up a bit of wind making the snowflakes fly everywhere!
[snowflake workers grumbling and yelling]
Ash: Jeepers! That wasn't supposed to happen!
Rainbow Dash: We better move on before Rarity ruins winter and causes a drought.
Next, they arrived at the second part of the factory!
Rainbow Dash: And here's where they make the rainbows!
Ash: I guess here, ponies make the rainbows!
Rainbow Dash: How are rainbows made in your world!
Ash: Raindrops, sunlight and refraction!
Then, Pinkie tasted some rainbow!
Pinkie Pie: [slurp] [pants] Spicyyyyyy!...
Applejack: [laughs]
Rainbow Dash: Yeah, rainbows aren't really known for their flavor.
Ash: So I see!
"Dumb-Bell": Whoa! Oh, where'd you get those amazing wings? I want a pair!
Rarity: Hmm... Yeah, I guess I could see that.
"Dumb-Bell": Oh, hey look, it's Rainbow Crash again!
Hoops: Heheheyeah! Rainbow... Umm... Eyah... CRASH!
Rainbow Dash: Rarity! What're you doing talking to these guys?
Rarity: Oh, they were just admiring my wings, Rainbow Dash.
"Dumb-Bell": Yeah, you should forget the sonic rainboom and just get yourself some wings like these!
"Dumb-Bell", Hoops, and "Score": [laughs]
Ash: Ahem!
That got the three colt pegasus' attention, making them nervous!
Ash: That's strike two!
Rainbow Dash: Oohh...
Fluttershy: Uhh... C'mon, girls. Why don't we go see how clouds are made? Don't listen to them. You're gonna win that competition for sure!
Rainbow Dash: Are you kidding? I can't do the sonic rainboom, and just look at these boring, plain old feathered wings. I'm doomed!
Ash: Rainbow! Relax! Nothing's wrong with your feathers! We like you just the way you are! And don't forget it!
That made Rainbow feel little better! But she was still worried!
[group of workers awing at Rarity]
Rarity: What, these old things? Go ahead, everypony. Photos are encouraged.
Twilight Sparkle: Rarity, we're supposed to be helping Rainbow Dash relax, remember? Put your wings away and stop showing off!
Rarity: Oh, pfft. How can you ask me to put away perfection?
Because of the sun, that made the wings shine with beautiful colors!
[workers awing]
Rarity: Waa-haa-haa!
Twilight Sparkle: Rainbow Dash, are you okay? You don't look so good.
Rainbow Dash: [panting] Of course! Why wouldn't I be okay? Everyone's so in love with Rarity's wings that they won't even notice when I totally BLOW IT in the Best Young Flyer's Competition.
Rainbowshine: Hey! There's an idea! YOU should enter the competition!
Foggy Fleece: Yeah! I could watch you fly all day long!
Rarity: There really isn't anypony who uses their wings quite like me. Perhaps I should compete.
Rainbow Dash: WHAT?!
[workers continue awing at Rarity]
Rainbow Dash: What am I gonna DO?! I'll never win the competition now...
Ash: Oh boy!
[Diamond and Pearl kind of timeskip]
Soon, it was time for the Best Young Flyer's Competition! Ash was going to perform with Dragonite, Staraptor and Talonflame! The rest of the Flying types were with Twilight, Pinkie, Fluttershy and Applejack! Pikachu sat on Twilight's back!
[trumpet fanfare]
[crowd cheering]
[knock, knock, knock]
Rarity: I'm going to be a while!
Rainbow Dash peeked out and saw her friends watching and the three colt pegasus were there too!
Pinkie Pie: [giggles]
"Dumb-Bell", Hoops, and "Score": [laughs]
Charizard: [poking its head downward at the three colt pegasus] [growls]
"Dumb-Bell", Hoops, and "Score": [nervous chuckles]
Rainbow Dash: [gulp]
Madden: Fillies and gentlecolts! Please rise and join me in welcoming our beloved Princess Celestia!
[fanfare and applause]
Madden: Please welcome our celebrity judges for the Best Young Flyer Competition: the Wonderbolts!
[crowd cheering]
Madden: And now, let's find out who will take the prize as this year's best young flyer!
Lucy Packard: Okay, contestant number one, you're up.
Rainbow Dash: Eyah!
Lucy Packard: Okay, number two, let's go.
Rainbow Dash: Umm...
Lucy Packard: C'mon, c'mon, we ain't got all day!
Rainbow Dash: [swaps her number with someone else]She's talking to you!
Dr. Hooves: Oh. Umm... Oh, I guess that's me! [flies out]
Lucy Packard: Number three!
Ash: That's me! Come on, you guys! [flies out with his three Pokémon] Prepare to be amazed, fillies and gentlecolts! Here's the Prince of Friendship making his competition debut! Now, Dragonite! Let's show them how we Dragon Dance!
Dragonite: Okay!
And they both did Dragon Dance by spinning and their bodies glowed with adding power!
[ponies ooh-ing]
Ash: Now, Talonflame and Staraptor! Let's show them how we Brave Bird!
And then, they did a Brave Bird! When they reached the sun, they glowed blue and it started raining down sparkles!
[ponies ooh-ing]
Ash: And now, for my final act! Talonflame, let's Fire Blast!
Then, they launched a Fire Blast in a star shape up at the sun and the sun glowed brighter!
[ponies cheering]
Then, Ash and his Pokémon bowed!
Princess Celestia: That's my brother!
Ash: [flying back in with his Pokémon] Did you see that, Rainbow? Was it cool or what?
Rainbow Dash: [nervous] Uh, yeah! It was something! [nervous chuckles]
Ash: Hey! It'll be okay, Rainbow! I'm sure you'll do great out there!
Lucy Packard: Okay, number four, time to go.
Rarity: I'm number four, and I need just one more itsy-bitsy minute. Be a dear and have somepony go ahead of me, hmm?
Lucy Packard: Look, I don't care who it is, but somepony's gotta go on!
Meadow Song: Let's do this!
Rainbow Dash: Uhh... What am I gonna do?
Ash: Dragonite, you mind calming Rainbow down with one of your hugs!
Dragonite: Okay! [hugs Rainbow Dash] Feel better?
Rainbow Dash: A little!

Twilight Sparkle: I loved number seven. Doing fifteen barrel rolls in a row can't be easy.
Fluttershy: My favorite is number ten. She just looked like such a nice pony.
Applejack: Hmm... Wonder how come we haven't seen Rainbow Dash or Rarity yet. The competition's almost over.
Pikachu: She's probably sprucing herself up to try and impress everypony here!
Lucy Packard: Number fifteen, let's go!
Rarity: Rarity... is ready!
Pikachu was right! Rarity did spiffify herself!
Lucy Packard: Look, ladies. I don't know what to tell you. There's only time for one more performance. If you both want to compete, you'll just have to go out there together!
Rarity: Well, Rainbow Dash? Shall we?
Rainbow Dash: [scared babbling]
Madden: And now, for our final competitor of the day, contestant number fifteen! Uhh... And apparently contestant number four...
[crowd cheering]
Rarity: Good luck, Rainbow Dash. Just do your best. I hope you don't mind, but I took the liberty of changing our music. That "rock and roll" doesn't really match my wings.
[classical music]
Rainbow Dash: [gulp] C'mon, Rainbow Dash. You can do this. Just remember the routine. Phase one.
[crowd cheering]
Rainbow tried her phase one, but she messed it up!
Rainbow Dash: Oof. Waaah!
Hoops: Nice work, Rainbow Crash!
"Dumb-Bell", Hoops and "Score": [laugh]
Charizard: [poking its head down giving a dirty look] Make me look at you three again and you won't like the consequnces!
Rainbow Dash: Time for phase two.
Then, she made the clouds spin!
Fluttershy: Look! Phase two is working.
[ponies cheering]
But it was working too well and a cloud nearly hit Princess Celestia!
Princess Celestia: [gasp]
Rarity: And now for my grand finale. I will fly right up to the sun and beam my beautiful wings over the whole city of Cloudsdale! [gasp and squeal] They'll be talking about it for years!
Rainbow Dash: Looks like this is my last chance to turn things around. Phase three. The sonic [gulp] rainboom. Wings, don't fail me now!
[crowd gasps]
Rainbow Dash: [grunt]
Rarity: [panting] Look upon me, Equestria, for I... am... Rarity!
[crowd oohs]
But then, there was trouble! Her wings evaporated into thin air!
Rarity: Uh-oh. [falls] [screams]
Twilight Sparkle: Oh no! Her wings evaporated into thin air!
Ash: Oh no! Rarity!
Rarity: [screams]
The Wonderbolts tried to save her, but due to her flailing, they were hit in the faces!
Misty Fly: Ooh!
Soarin: Aah!
Spitfire: Uuh!
Rarity: [continues screaming]
Rainbow Dash: Hold on, Rarity! I'm coming! [flies to the rescue]
Rarity: [more screaming]
Fluttershy: Oh, I can't look!
Rarity: [gasp]
Pinkie Pie, Applejack, and Twilight Sparkle: [gasp]
Rainbow was flying at full speed!
Rainbow Dash: [grunts]
Rainbow struggled with all her might and then she did a Sonic Rainboom!
Fluttershy: A SONIC RAINBOOM! SHE DID IT! SHE DID IT! WOOO!
Rainbow Dash: Whoa.
[crowd cheering]
Fluttershy: A SONIC RAINBOOM! WOOO! YEAH!
Rainbow Dash: I did it. I did it!
Rarity: [sigh] You sure did. Oh thank you, Rainbow Dash. You saved my life!
Rainbow Dash: Oh yeah. I did that too. Ha, best day ever!
Ash was relieved that Rarity was safe! But he was also proud of Rainbow Dash for never giving up!
Later…
Rarity: I want to apologize to all of you for getting so carried away with my... beautiful wings. I guess I just lost my head.
Fluttershy: It's okay.
Applejack: Oh, don't worry about it, kiddo.
Pinkie Pie: We still love you.
Rarity: And I'm especially sorry that I was so thoughtless as to jump into the contest at the last minute after you had worked so hard to win it. Can you ever EVER forgive me?
Rainbow Dash: Aw, it's okay. Everything turned out all right, right? I just wish I could have met the Wonderbolts when they were awake.
Ash: Well, you're wish just came true, Rainbow! Look!
Rainbow Dash: [gasp] Ohmygoshohmygoshohmygoshohmygoshohmygosh!
Spitfire: So you're the little pony who saved our lives. We really wanted to meet you, and say thanks.

Then, the princess came in!
Twilight Sparkle: Princess.
Ash: Sis! [hugs her older sister]
Princess Celestia: Hello, Ash! Hello, Twilight Sparkle, and hello to your friends too.
Rarity: Princess Celestia, I am sorry I ruined the competition. Rainbow Dash here really is the best flyer in Equestria.
Princess Celestia: I know she is, my dear. That's why, for her incredible act of bravery and her spectacular sonic rainboom, I'm presenting the grand prize for Best Young Flyer to this year's winner, Miss Rainbow Dash!
[crowd cheers]
Rainbow Dash: Ohmygosh ohmygosh ohmygosh ohmygosh ohmygosh ohmygosh ohmygosh ohmygosh OHMYGOSH OHMYGOSH OHMYGOSH!
Princess Celestia: So Twilight Sparkle, did you learn anything about friendship from this experience?
Twilight Sparkle: I did Princess, but I think Rarity learned even more than me.
Rarity: I certainly did. I learned how important it is to keep your hooves on the ground, and be there for your friends.
Princess Celestia: Excellent. Well done, Rarity.
Ash: But in spite of that, I'm just glad you're safe! [to Rainbow Dash] And I'm proud of you Rainbow! You never gave up and gave it your all! And with you rescuing Rarity and the Wonderbolts, you managed to pull off a Sonic Rainboom!
Rainbow Dash: Thanks, Ash! This really is the best day ever!
"Dumb-Bell": Uhh, hey, Rainbow Crash.
Hoops: DASH!

Rainbow Dash: Sorry, boys... [flies off with the Wonderbolts] But I've got plans!
That made the three colt pegasus disappointed!
Ash: Ah, don't worry, guys! I can hang with you guys! I can teach you some of the tricks I did!
"Dumb-Bell": [excited] Really?!
Hoops: That would be awesome!
And they walked off!
Twilight Sparkle: You know, Princess. I think Ash is one of the best colts ever!
Princess Celestia: Indeed he is, Twilight! Indeed he is!
