In the meantime, Eggman's robot rocketed through the sky and, from afar detected the trio fighting the purple portal's pull.

Eggman checked the footage from prison with his watch. He smiled from ear to ear as soon as the last of them fell. The watch's light reflected over his glasses.

"At long last. That Rodent is gone. My conquest over the world will begin!" the mad scientist said as he chuckled.

In that moment, he turned in his chair and rubbed his hands. He pulled out a brick next to him. Underneath sat a large red button. With a tight fist, he slammed it.

The structure rumbled which caused all the guards to run in panic. Eggman continued to smile as he watched them pass his cell. He stood in the safety of his cell holding onto his door's metal bars.

A rocket roared down the hall and headed straight for a wall. A guard ducked and covered his head as Eggman's cell's wall crumbled into rubble. The middle aged scientist stepped over the debris with his hands behind his back, snickering at the mayhem. A rather large robot soared in front of him and cracked the ground on which it landed. Egg Destroyer's image reflected in his glasses as he readjusted them.

"This will be fun," he remarked.

The mad doctor seized the controls once he climbed inside the rocket-ship. He turned the robot and pressed another button. It blasted another hole next to the one the robot made to enter.

The guards yelled, "He's escaping!" "Sound the alarm!"

A large bell was rung as everyone scrambled to prepare to take down the menace. Each bullet bounced off Egg Destroyer's armour.

Eggman roared in laughter as a fire lit in his boosters and took him to the skies.

He had burst into uncontrollable laughter as he called, "You never stood a chance!"

As a precaution, he fired another missile. It struck a tank and a fire erupted. He smiled at the manifesting chaos.

"First the base. And next, the world! Hah hah hah!"

In a wink, he was gone.

In the meantime, Amy gazed around at the strange forest. Unknown birds and plants surrounded her. She watched as two colourful flowers closed into buds and tucked themselves behind the thick bushes.

She stepped through the grass and twigs and gazed at the ancient trees. The sun could barely peek through their busy branches.

The pink Hedgehog cupped her hands and called, "Sooonnic!! Taaaiiillss!"

She paused for a moment. Silence met her. After five minutes, she clenched her fist and stared ahead in concern. What could have happened?

It was impossible to even tell where she was. She was hopelessly lost. The girl held her cheeks in frustration. What even was that thing that swallowed them?

Surely if she survived, her friends had to have also landed somewhere nearby. With a frown, she pushed through the bushes.

For the next few minutes, she trudged through the twigs and leaves. One was even tangled in her hair. Dirt cling to her knees and stained her once white gloves.

A branch she pushed snapped and she had lost her balance. She rolled down a hill and landed on her tail. The impact made her wince as she rubbed herself.

"Need some help?" an old man asked.

"Nah, I should be ok. The only thing hurt is my pride."

Once Amy looked up, she noticed an old farmer Dog leaning against his shovel. He held onto his handle as his brown eyes looked at her disheveled state.

The senior looked a bit more until his eyes lit up, and he pointed at her, saying, "Hey, it's you!" He held out a money bag as he bowed to her level. "Here! You can have my gold. Take it. I promise I'm not back holding anything."

Amy titled her head as the bag was deposited in her hands. Her emerald eyes stared at the unexpected gift. She looked at the man again who began to leave.

"Hey, wait!" she called. "I don't understand why you're giving me this."

"How can you not remember, Sandy? You demanded payment this week or I'll lose everything."

"Sandy? I think you're making a mistake. I'm not Sandy. It's Amy."

"What? What do you take me for? I wouldn't mistake someone as powerful and beautiful as you for anyone."

The Dog stepped back as he trembled. Amy could only look even though she reached out for the frightened farmer. With that he turned and fled, leaving behind a rather confused Hedgehog.

Amy blinked as she was left with a sack of coins.

Without hesitation, she picked it up and hurried after him.

"Wait!" She called. "There's a misunderstanding. I'm not from here. I'm not Sandy. It's Amy!"

As she hurried along the farmer's path, a pair of red eyes tracked her movement through the dark unkept bushes. They narrowed as she passed them and backed into the shadows when she turned their way.

For two seconds, she frowned and rubbed her arm. A chill ran through her spine. She looked twice. Nothing was there.

The girl gulped and looked at the coinage. She couldn't count all she was given. There had to be someway to return it.

She wiped her forehead as her arms became sore. It weighed more than her hammer. For a moment, she sat under a tree and looked around.

Was there even a chance of catching up to the man?

She hugged her knees.

The pair of red eyes stared at her once more. They studied how she yawned and stretched and leaned more into the trunk.

A tiredness washed over the girl as her heavy eyelids closed. She fell into a deep sleep. A heavy sigh came from the bush and a Hedgehog stepped partly into the light. He frowned at Amy who was curled in the shade.

A branch snapped behind them, and he looked back at a group of villagers. All of whom held swords and clubs. While some were fixated on him, most were focused on Amy Rose who shifted in her sleep.

"I don't know how I got here. Not that it really matters," the black and red Hedgehog said as he took a fighting stance. "No one touches anyone I consider a friend without crossing me. My name is Shadow the Hedgehog. You'll do well to remember that."

Everyone stepped back as Amy's old friend glowed red.
