Summary: Lea cooks a special breakfast for Shaun on the morning of his first day as an attending. This is set at the beginning of "Change of Perspective".

It had been three and a half months since the wedding and the attack, and both Dr. Lim and Nurse Villanueva were going to be coming back to work today after months of recovery and therapy. Villanueva had no long-term physical complications except for permanent scars, Lim was paralyzed permanently from the waist down.

Shaun was woken up by the smell of scrambled eggs and chocolate chip pancakes wafting from the kitchen, so he assumed that Lea was making breakfast. So far, they have been in a marital bliss with their most recent serious arguments since the wedding being over minor things such as what movie they were going to watch tonight.

He looked at the clock and noticed it was 7:45 am, so he figured that it was probably time to get up and get ready. So, he did his morning exercises, brushed and flossed, showered, and then got dressed in a plaid button-down and khakis.

When he made his way to the kitchen, he noticed that Lea had made a whole feast worth of breakfast - a stack of chocolate chip pancakes with blueberries and sliced strawberries on top, scrambled eggs, a bowl of yogurt and granola with sliced granny smith apples lined up around the bowl on a plate, and orange juice with an orange slice on the rim of the glass.

It was almost like an anniversary or birthday dinner.

"You made a big breakfast," observed Shaun excitedly, twining his fingers together.

"It's your first day as an attending," chirped Lea cheerily. "You're officially moved up! Isn't that exciting?"

"It's okay," nodded Shaun as he sat down at the kitchen island.

"You're not just getting a raise, but you're also a boss now with more responsibilities," reminded Lea as she served Shaun a plate of breakfast. "It's a big day for both you and Park, and I've got something special for both of you."

"I don't have my own office, though," lamented Shaun. "We'll be sharing an office."

"Still, it's a big shift, babe," grinned Lea as she fixed her own plate and then settled down next to Shaun. "How do you feel about being an attending? It only feels like yesterday when we just met and you were still a first-year resident. You're also a boss now, which is a big deal. Do you know what your new residents are going to be like?"

Shaun and Park were going to be getting two brand new residents on their team.

26-year-old Daniel Perez did undergrad at Texas A&M and graduated medical school from the Baylor College of Medicine in Houston. A native of outer San Antonio, he grew up on a cotton farm run by Mexican immigrants. However, he had a history of narcotics abuse, but he was totally clean now and had been for a year.

A native of Nashville, 38-year-old Danica Powell served in the Navy for 11 years (and a lieutenant for five years) before she was honorably discharged in 2013 after losing her leg in a flight deck accident; serving in both Iraq and Afghanistan as a combat medic. After a year of recovery, Danica did undergrad at the University of Memphis before heading for Duke in North Carolina for med school.

"One of them is a farm boy and the other is a Navy veteran," described Shaun.

"That sounds interesting," said Lea. "Being the boss of someone is going to be a whole new interesting experience for you."

"Yes, I know," nodded Shaun.
