Ressurection
The moon cast a dim silver glow on the dreary woods. The lone hooded figure rubbed her hands together, shivering in the cold of night. It would be easy to cast a simple warming spell but she needed to conserve as much magic as she could for what led ahead.
Bandora cursed. She rarely regretted her decisions, even when they didn't pan out the way she wanted, preferring to cut her losses, and moving on, rather than accepting that she was not immune to making mistakes.
This was not an easy task for her.
Yet for the future of her empire, she must swallow her pride.
She took a deep breath as she reached her destination. A clearing in the middle of the forest with two charred spots in front of her, as if lightning had struck those sites.
This was the place where she initiated her plans to overthrow her father by taking two of his loyal generals out of the picture.
Though it seemed that she had destroyed them, she had merely absorbed their powers and trapped their souls in limbo.
Her eyes glowed purple as she started chanting in an ancient tongue. A gentle breeze picked up around her feet before expelling outwards into bellowing gales that slammed against the trees. Branches snapped and leaves tumbled down. The winds continue to increase in intensity, some of the small trees shaking under the threat of being uprooted.
She continued chanting, her voice becoming louder and the earth began to tremble. Storm clouds obscured the moon, shrouding the forest in darkness, with only the faint purple light from the dark witch's eyes remaining.
A purple spell circle appeared in the desolate ground, and lightning struck down from the skies, striking the same ashen spots and Bandora yelled as she flew backwards.
She heaved as she gathered her bearings. The sky cleared up, the earthquake and the stormy winds stopped.
Bubbles of dark energy converged into two vaguely human shapes in front of her… A familiar knight in purple armour with gold accentuations and a dark being with fangs and bat wings.
"Welcome back." She smirked.
"You betrayed us!" Necrolai snarled. "You leeched us of our powers!"
"The Master… I can't feel him!" Koragg growled in shock, drawing his sword and before the witch knew it, the evil knight had her in a tight grasp, his sword against her throat. "What have you done!"
"Whatever was necessary…" She snapped.
"You will pay for your treachery, hag!" He growled and she winced, as a thin line of blood trickled down from where the sharp blade dug into her skin.
"Remember your place, wolf!" She snarled. Tendrils of black energy wrapping around the knight's arm and tugging them backwards, forcing him to drop the sword and let go of the witch. The tendrils wrapped around him like a cocoon and he dropped unceremoniously to the ground.
"Why?" Necrolai asked fearfully. Unlike Koragg, she knew she had no chance against the devious wrench.
"For my father's vision was flawed." She said simply.
Koragg howled, tearing through the restraints, and leaping at the witch only to be frozen mid-air.
"Seriously?" She rolled her eyes. "I am the queen of the Underworld, daughter of the Great Dark. You should know when you are outmatched."
"I will avenge my Master!" He vowed.
Bandora rolled her eyes.
"My father's loyalty spell on your host made you lose sight of why you joined our cause in the first place, Koragg." She said, tenderly touching the helmet of the evil knight.
Koragg yelped as the helmet dematerialised and Bandora's soft hands cradled his ragged cheeks.
"Oh, you poor creature…" She murmured, looking at his bloodshot eyes and unshaven beard.
"Once a great warrior, now nothing more than a marionette for my father's whims." Bandora laughed. "How the mighty have fallen, Leanbow."
"I am Koragg!" He growled.
"Are you truly? Your host seemed to have left quite an impression on you, Koragg. Since when do you care about honour so much? Are you sure you are the one in control?" She sneered and the knight faltered.
"Let me help you, old friend." She gripped his chin and peered into his eyes.
Tendrils of purple energy wrapped around his head, piercing his skin and Koragg yelled in agony for few seconds before his head drooped down.
Bandora smirked, chucked him under the chin and raising his head up.
"Do you remember who you are, Koragg?" She asked.
The man broke into a feral grin.
"I do!" His deep grovel was tainted with an undertone with something far more nefarious and chaotic, which sent chills down Necrolai's spine. Dark magic traversed through his armour, changing it to something far more jagged. Spikes and thorns erupted from his elbows and along his spine and the back of his knees. His helmet rematerialized, the visor deep crimson.
He broke free from the immobilisation spell and bowed down before Bandora. "I am yours to command, Mistress."
"Rise, my knight." She smiled. "There is work to be done."
She turned towards Necrolai. "And you… Are you with us?"
The vampire nodded quickly, not willing to risk the wrath of either villain.
"Good." She nodded. "Well, you should be more concerned with reclaiming your title as the Vampire Queen."
"What?" Necrolai narrowed her eyes.
"Well, there was this small matter of a rogue vampire queen called Lilith rebelling against my forces, seeking to avenge you." She said offhandedly.
"Lilith?" Necrolai repeated, her eyes widening.
"You knew her?"
"She… She accepted her role." The former queen broke into a smile. "She is my daughter."
"Was." Bandora corrected coldly.
"What?" Came the shocked reply.
"She was slayed by the pink mystic force ranger after she converted her and several more people in Briarwood…all in a vain attempt to overthrow me." The witch informed. "Quite ambitious, your girl but she underestimated the rangers!"
"Leelee is gone…" Necrolai whimpered.
"Prayers, Sorrows… but let's move on, shall we?" Bandora said flippantly. "You will get your chance to avenge her when you face the pink ranger."
As she turned around and walked back to the forest followed by her knight, Necrolai fell to her knees, tears streaming down her face for the first time in centuries.
Hope you liked this chapter and please review.
Also, I will be posting the next few chapters as a separate story because it will be a crossover event with other rangers. I have exciting stuff planned for that, so be on the lookout for Power Rangers: Wolf War.
