Love Struck Eternal

Chapter 11 - One after another.

Char's POV, an hour later.

Zandro and I were sitting together in my office going over the robbery once again. With everything put together we were starting to single people out. It had to be either one of his men or someone from the science team. It was hard to pin down because everyone from the team was still hard at work like nothing happened and Zandro's men were mostly all out in the field apart from Rosco and few others who were in charge of looking over the operations here at the labs and at the capital itself.

I had a strong feeling as to who it was behind the robbery, but again it didn't make sense. I was about to bring it up again to Zandro, but both him and I panicked when we heard the door to my office open up. Upon looking up we both widened our eyes to see Raptor storming in with a nasty look in his eyes and a wet face from what to me looked like tears. I stood up and asked him as he stopped in between myself and Zandro to shut his eyes and curl his fists on top of the desk.

"What are you doing here Raptor? What happened?"

"Here man." Zandro urged him as he passed him a tissue box that was on my desk.

Both of us felt the mood change when all the sudden Raptor punched the counter to shout.

"Sam fucking left!"

Widening my eyes I questioned.

"What are you talking about? She left to go where?"

Unable to focus his attention on me, he replied with a small growl under his tone.

"She left to go to the states! She left the fucking country!"

"What? When?" Zandro wondered as he stood up alongside the hedgehog.

"About an hour ago. She closed her bank account and got on a plane and left. She fucking….?!"

I took a step back as Raptor sent my desk over on it's side. From there I listened as he shouted at me.

"She fucking ran away Char! She ran away because of what I did! I fucked up!"

At this point a couple of my men heard the commotion and peeked into the room to see Raptor getting in my face. I knew they were trained to prevent problems, but this wasn't one that needed to get violent. I wanted nothing now other than to figure out what was going on. So I calmly ordered my men.

"It's fine! Everything is okay! Just give us space! Now!"

They backed out of the office as I looked back at Raptor to see he was breaking apart before my eyes. Coming in to level myself with his height,I asked him as carefully as I could.

"Are you sure she left?"

He just nodded his head once and informed me.

"Zeta hates me Char. I don't know what to do. Help."

My eyes went over to Zandro who proceeded to ask my brother in need.

"What can I do Raptor?"

Looking back at the echidna, he begged.

"I just want to talk to her. I need to apologize for what I did. This is all my fault. I can't lose another kid!" He told us again bluntly which got me to quickly respond back.

"You're not losing anything. We're gonna figure this out and we're gonna fix this. Sam doesn't even know where she's going by leaving the country on her own. She's gonna get overwhelmed and she's gonna need help sooner or later. It's gonna be okay. Just chill out for a second brother. Here…..?" I moved my chair so he could sit.

"Take a seat." I urged him as Zandro waited till he had to ask him.

"I can track her down easily. I just need access to her bank account so I can see when she paid for the ticket. The ticket will tell me the plane. And the plane will have a camera. I can confirm if she's on the flight and track down where it went. I can have an operator out to her within the day."

"I don't want a fucking operator Zandro. I just want my daughter to talk to me. Find out where she is and I'll go see her myself."

"Okay. I can do that. Just give us a few minutes to….?" At that moment another man came charging through the door. This time it was Yoga who announced to us.

"Rosco just dropped off the grid. His GPS went down and we lost contact with his phone."

"What?" Zandro questioned in disbelief as I went on to ask him.

"What do you mean he went off the grid?"

Shaking his head Yoga replied.

"I don't know. Some of your men in medical said his implant went off over an hour ago. Last place they had him was at the airport before it went off."

Now both Zandro and I looked at one another as Raptor jumped in to ask.

"What the hell is he talking about? What's going on?"

Keeping my tone as calm as I could, I replied.

"The labs were robbed a few days ago. Someone took all the viper venom we had there. Along with all the research data and the ingredients used to make the doses. We were in the middle of an investigation and Rosco was the operator in charge of lab security. He was looking into who could have done it, but….?"

That's when Zandro growled in anger.

"That motherfucker! I trusted him!"

"We aren't even sure it was him yet!" I informed Zandro as I ordered Yoga who remained by the door.

"Get the security footage from the airport and have someone go over it till they confirm that's where he was last seen."

"Yes sir." He replied as he went off.

Left with Raptor and a very upset echidna, I urged the pair.

"We'll figure this out. Raptor? Just stay and try to relax. We'll get in contact with Sam after we check up on this. Okay?"

My brother in arms just nodded his head and proceeded to look at the ground. Zandro glared at me as I couldn't help but ask it.

"Couldn't have been him, huh?"

The man could only chuckle at my smart ass remark. Yoga wouldn't be too long. He'd have the footage for us soon and I'm sure we could get in contact with Sam all the same. I just talked with her. Why the hell would she do something like this to her parents? More so, why wouldn't she talk to me? I begged her to come to me if she needed help. I was obligated to help. She is my family all the same and with her father crying in front of me I had no other choice but to do the right thing. Raptor would just have to wait though till Rosco was dealt with. As soon as we confirm he left the country as well; we can split the duties and track them down one at a time.

Sam's POV.

I felt so bad. I had to put Mocha in a crate and tuck her away in cargo. I prayed she would be okay by herself for the trip. Rosco on the other hand sat next to me. He took the hall seat and I had the window. No one was in the seat in the middle thankfully because knowing me I had a feeling I'd be sleeping most of this trip away in due time.

For the first hour of the flight; things were pretty quiet between the tiger and I. Our plan wasn't really even set yet for where we would go once we landed in the country. I had enough money to get a small apartment maybe and Rosco said earlier that he would have enough to chip in if need be. Regardless, I think we'd both try to keep low to the ground.

Looking at my phone, I saw my dad tried to call me twice. I didn't even notice because I had shut it off during takeoff, but again it wasn't like I aimed to talk to him right now. If anything I was kinda surprised my mother hadn't called yet. Or even my aunt. They had to have known I left by now. Or at the very least my dad knows I got into his safe. Not like I closed it before I left. I wanted him to see what I had done. Maybe just out of spite, but fuck all of that for right now. I had other things on my mind and Rosco sensed it as I was clearly thinking deeply within my own mind. Reaching over to tap me on the arm, the big tiger asked with a gentle tone of voice.

"What you thinking about? Regretting this now that you're here?"

Shaking my head I replied.

"I'm not regretting anything. I'm just…...I don't know. I think I'm just scared. This is my first time flying and…..and I don't really know what we're gonna do when we land. I mean I don't know a whole lot about the U.S Rosco. I mean I know it's peaceful and a whole lot better then the middle east, but this is a complete and total life change for me. Not to mention the weather and the people. I don't know anyone over here. Apart from my uncle Peek, but fuck if I know where he's living over here. The country is huge!"

Giving me a gentle chuckle, Rosco went on to state to me.

"You're right about all of that. The states are completely different when compared to Iraq. There isn't an army policing the public for starters. Each state is split into districts and each district is manned by a local police force. The military is only used overseas. Apart from the national guard who sometimes will step in if there are natural disasters or riots for whatever reason. There isn't a whole lot that happens over here Sam. Just regular criminals and normal happy business. Which reminds me….that piece you had me smuggle in with Mocha? Don't go waving that around when we land. Keep that locked up when we find a place to hang low. You'll get into trouble if you're caught with a firearm without a good reason or a permit. You hear?"

I just nodded because I was still scared regardless. After a few seconds of silence Rosco said to me.

"We'll be okay here. The M.E.A.F can't touch us. The network can't touch us. You got that scholarship? Think about going to school somewhere. Take this as a chance to makeover yourself. Do the things you've always dreamed of doing. Just stay out of trouble and everything will work out. I promise."

"Someone will come though." I informed him as he just calmly exhaled and replied.

"It won't be anytime soon if they do. You're dad won't be able to track us down over here on his own. Even with Zandro and the network looking. Zandro could have someone look into where we went, but he wouldn't dare order them to come attack us for what we did. Your dad will have the final say in that and knowing your father he wouldn't let any of his people hurt you. If anything is going to happen Sam, I expect them to put all their effort into locating us. From there they'll either go to your uncle Peek or depending on the situation that follows, maybe your dad or mom would come to see us. But I doubt your dad would."

"My dad is crazy Rosco." I bluntly told him with a small smile which got him to laugh. After which he replied.

"Well in any case Sam, what can he really do? You're an adult. You're eighteen and together we'll have enough time and money to get on our feet without his intervention. He can't force you to go back home. He's gonna have to learn the hard way that every child comes to a point where they need to be allowed to leave the nest and put on their own. It's part of being an adult. All you have to do is stand your ground and tell him how you feel. This is your life. You made this choice for a reason."

"Yeah because I don't want to worry about going to jail or fucking up my family name. I need time to figure shit out with myself and my venom. I'm onto something amazing. I just need to be allowed to focus and do my own thing."

"Yeah Sam about that. What the hell are hoping for by messing around with that much venom? I noticed you had pretty good control last night over it. For being a flawed user and for it only being a few weeks, you've somehow learned to control it that fast? Or did you do something to cheat?"

"I wouldn't consider it cheating Rosco." I replied as he then urged me with a gentle sigh.

"Then please explain what you did. I'd like to know and if I'm gonna be watching you're back I feel obligated to know what you're planning."

I took a quick look around the plane and thankfully there weren't many people between us that could overhear what I was about to say. Once I was ready, I told him carefully.

"The night we made the trade, I went back to the place I was staying and looked through the research notes you stole. Then I had to see what a real dose of the stuff feels like; so I could get a grasp over the issues it causes once taken by someone who isn't prepared or in my case, isn't perfect. Once I did that, I pushed my limits and overdosed myself over the course of the next twelve hours. I took five in total before I truly knew what I had to change with the recipe."

Widening his eyes and leaning slightly over into me, Rosco replied in great shock.

"Five doses? Are you fucking insane Sam? You could have died."

"I think I did." I admitted to him.

The tiger was completely focused on what I was saying so I went on to tell him.

"My body adapted really fast after the fifth dose. Taking a higher dose is better than taking one dose and letting your body recover. You need to increase your tolerance as a flawed user to be able to have your body better adjust. It's a waste of time doing one and waiting and then doing another."

Licking my lips and sitting back slightly, I went on.

"Thanks to the notes I adjusted the recipe. Added a little bit more LSD and added THC extract into the mix. It was enough to level my head out. My emotions didn't overwhelm me. In fact Rosco once I had tripled the dose and played around some more I found a level where my body can now control it perfectly fine and without trouble. See?"

I focused and just like I explained; my venom came online. He saw my eyes change and as they did I went on further by stating my next move as clear as day to his waiting ears.

"My goal now is to find out what it takes to reinvent the recipe. I'm onto it already. I just need to adjust a few things and I'll have made a dose that any flawed user can take and no longer be flawed. They can all be perfect without the threat of death or unwanted side effects. Once I have that done, I want to push the dose further by making it into something that I can give anyone and I mean anyone. No user training at all, no experience, never touched the stuff. I want to make it so I can turn anyone that takes it into a perfect user on the spot. No threat of dying. It's a one hundred percent guarantee. My dose will allow anyone who takes it to become a super soldier. However I want to one up it by increasing the power gained from such a feat. Those who take my dose will be better then the perfect users we have now. They won't be stopped."

Rosco now reached over to take my hand. I stared at him in confusion as he leaned in to whisper.

"I'm gonna warn you right now Sam. That if you invent such a thing? It'll be considered a super weapon. If I'm understanding your idea of what you want this to become, you'll be giving the most powerful people or even the most low down PMCs power to change the world. Something like that can destroy countries. If you sold that recipe to a terrorist cell for instance? Who could hope to stop them from bringing about the end of a government? You could turn a small army into an unstoppable fighting force and that force could ruin the balance the world currently has. Not to mention, but you'd be a target. What's stopping someone from finding out where you are and breaking you for the recipe? What's stopping them from just outright killing you?""

They won't be able to kill me Rosco. My notes are going to be all in my head. I'm not going to keep a paper trail for them to look through. If anyone wants the recipe they will have to come to me to get it and I'm not going to just give it to anyone that asks or even pays. I know the power that kind of drug could have and if someone wants it? They won't have any other option but to give me what I want in return."

"Again what's stopping someone from breaking your legs to get it out of you?" He asked me as I ignored that question some more. After a few moments I think he understood what was going on, so he just proceeded to ask me.

"What do you want Sam?" Rosco then asked me as I calmly lost my smile to reply.

"I don't know yet. For now I just want to get off this fucking plane. Who can say when I'll even be able to produce results like I just described? It could take months. Maybe years. Lots of things can change between now and then. I just need someone I can trust to help me and I'd like that to be you. I won't take advantage of you Rosco. If this pays off I'll make sure you benefit one way or the other. Just name your price. Start by helping me learn the basics once we get settled. Teach me how to fight. Teach me how to defend myself. Because I don't want to be defenseless. My venom is nothing if I don't know how to use it right. I don't want to be a target who can't fight back. Do you understand what I'm saying?" I asked him as he squeezed and released my hand.

As he leaned back into his seat, Rosco replied.

"Let me think about it first Sam. For now just please don't push it. You have more than enough time to focus on yourself before pursuing this dream of yours. Don't aim to destroy the world before you can even hope to appreciate it."

His words caught me off guard. I haven't heard anyone say that to me before and for some reason it brought my mind to a complete stop. What more could I say to him after that?

With my mind losing itself in the moment, I eventually looked away and out the plane window. I had time and that was very much true now that I was on my way to a new place. I'd start by getting some sleep now before things really got started from this moment going forward.

Raptor's POV, Two hours later.

"There!" I shouted as I pointed at the screen.

Char had myself and Zandro looking through the camera footage Yoga just dug up. It took longer to get it because of the new regulations we had in place for security, but now that we had it; we found my daughter in record time checking in at one of the security checkpoints before her terminal. The first thing I noticed was her luggage. Her backpack was on her back, and she held two large duffel bags as well. One in each hand. I've never seen her with those bags before so that was the first thing to confuse me with all that I was seeing.

"What is she carrying?" I asked around the room as we were waiting to see where she would go next after getting through security.

Now I was silent as we waited for something to happen, but all the sudden she met up with this guy. He was twice her size and a Bengal tiger at that. Looked older too. I've never seen him before so in confusion I asked out loud.

"Who is that she's with?"

When I looked at Zandro I saw the look he had on his face. He knew this guy and so did Char as I looked to him next for some kind of answer. With Zandro's tone now just as lost as I was, he replied to me.

"That's Rosco. What the hell is going on?"

That's when Yoga asked us.

"Weren't they both at the airport around the same time? They together?"

"No way." Char replied as I asked myself in my own head.

"What are you doing Sam?"

As my question roamed, Zandro widened his eyes as he got a better look at the bags she was holding.

"Those bags belong to Rosco. They come standard for all my operators."

"She might have needed them to pack her clothes?" Yoga stated as I looked back at Char who was shaking his head.

"No…..those are the same bags I saw last time I was with her. I came across them by accident. They were under her bed and I kicked one on accident and I swear to you guys right now that there was something metal in one of them. Like a lot of metal. I went to check and that's when she got serious and told me I had no right to search her property. She told me I needed a warrant and I thought she was joking."

Yoga looked over at Zandro now to wonder.

"Any chance that could be the gear that Rosco stole before he left? There were easily a hundred cases of venom stocked up in the labs and those cases are nothing but stainless steel. Could be what you kicked sir."

Now utterly lost for what my daughter was up to, I questioned the situation by saying.

"She wouldn't be involved in that shit. It could have been anything. Maybe her laptop."

"Her laptop was on her desk Raptor. I saw it." Char informed me as I then questioned

"It doesn't explain their relationship though. She doesn't know any of the men who work for you Zandro and she's never put her neck out to make friends, especially ones like this. It doesn't make any sense."

Zandro was determined to remain as calm as possible, but he had to say it sooner or later.

"I don't know what to believe, Raptor. Keep rolling the tape Yoga."

And that's what happened. We watched as they got on a plane together and left. Once we were done Zandro informed me.

"Rosco stole all that venom before he left. It's not coincidence that they just got on a plane together that was departing the middle east. They had to have been in contact with one another before just now. Rosco stole the gear, but gave it to her? That's what I'm having trouble understanding."

"If she's part of the robbery Raptor, we'll have to put her under investigation." Char stated as I was currently unsure of what to do. My daughter was mixed up in this mess and I had no idea why. All I could do was ask Char who watched me from a few feet away.

"What can we do about it now? Nothing is accurate unless we know for sure what was in those bags to begin with."

Char agreed, but Zandro went on to tell me.

"For right now I need to get someone on this and get us more answers. Sam might be involved in something very bad. Be that by her own choice or that of another's. I need to send someone Raptor. Otherwise I'll have to go into this blind and assume the worst. Sam might be behind the robbery. Rosco was the perfect person for the job thanks to his standing."

"My daughter wouldn't set something like this up for no fucking reason Zandro."

Zandro understood my emotion, but calmly said back.

"Whatever that reason is we won't know about it until we either get a chance to confront your daughter or my operator. Either of which Raptor; we'll have to chase down. Now I can have an operator of mine do this, or I can get the network involved. The choice is yours out of respect for this being your kid we're talking about."

Defending my daughter, I replied with enough anger to get Zandro to listen closely.

"My daughter wouldn't have the guts to steal from the military. She has no fucking reason to be involved in this or with your operator. This is a coincidence and I won't have the network getting involved. My daughter can not be put on a hit list. She can't defend herself and I will not; as her father, let you do that. You'll be killing her and if she dies on a hunch I'll…..?"

"Raptor?" Char called out to me as I was about to threaten the room. I shut my eyes and took a step back as the wolf came within a few inches to whisper to me.

"I can't imagine what you're feeling right now brother, but you can't lose sight and deny what's right in front of you. I love Sam. I do. But with the way things are right now she's not in a good place. She's potentially involved in military theft and that crime is easily given a twenty year sentence in prison. Now I don't believe Sam would be involved, but it's not coincidence that her and Rosco just happened to be leaving the country at the same time, on the same plane."

"She is a child Char." I informed him as he nodded and whispered back.

"I know, but with the way things are in our new government; she's considered an adult and is obligated to pay the maximum sentence; if guilty."

"She's not guilty." I again told him with my anger displayed clearly for him to see.

Putting a hand on my left arm, Char replied back.

"We won't know unless we do something about it and I can't just overlook the facts. I love you like family and I can't thank you enough for everything you've done for me and that's why I'm gonna settle for this for right now as our next step."

I stared right into his eyes as he explained to me step by step his plan.

"First we need to get into contact with Sam. I'm gonna leave that method up to you. You have a choice. Ether Zandro sends one of his men, or you can send one of yours. Or even yourself, but with the way things are I don't think you should leave the country. Zeta needs you and leaving will only hurt her more. You need to be there for her right now."

I shut my eyes and lowered my head as he went on to say.

"Once you decide what you want to do, I'll give you whatever time you need to figure this out. Zandro will not involve the network till we know for sure if she's even guilty. Right Zandro?"

The echidna was looking at me as Char brought it up. Thank god Zandro and I were on good terms and I was thankful when he replied directly to me.

"I won't bring them into this before I know anything more, but Rosco is guilty of the theft and that I am sure of. I will have to list his name and the network can decide his fate. There isn't anything I can do about that, so I pray to god Raptor that she isn't involved with him. The states are off limits to legal PMCs but that doesn't mean someone might not try to take his life. Again, I pray she isn't with him if that happens."

Char seemed to agree with that as I looked back at Zandro to ask him.

"If she's guilty Zandro, how much would the network list her for?"

Char and Yoga also were curious as the echidna did the math. After a few moments he replied.

"It would depend, but if she's guilty I can see her price easily being a few thousand dollars worth. Regardless, Sam isn't a threat to anybody but the M.E.A.F and she's done nothing to earn her a bounty that could be attractive to most PMCs. Maybe enough to attract a lone contractor or two, but she'd still be on the very bottom of the network's list. Even if she's put up for betting; I doubt she'd see any trouble for a long time unless she left the country for some reason. Lone contractors will more then likely avoid her just in fear of the legal trouble an open firefight in the U.S would bring. Her bounty wouldn't be a pay off if shit went down."

Zandro's assessment gave me a lot of hope. That's when Char asked me.

"What do you want to do about this Raptor?"

"I'll be more than glad to go find her." Yoga informed me as I was still mostly confused for the best choice. During which Char informed his friend.

"I'd prefer it if you didn't, Yoga. Thank you for offering, but I still have another big sancton to attend within the next few weeks that involve the peace treaties. I need a good guard and I'd like that to be you over anyone else I know."

Yoga seemed understanding so I told him bluntly also.

"Thank you Yoga, but I agree with Char. I can find someone to do this for me."

"Okay sir." He replied as Char wondered.

"What about Peek? Isn't he living in the U.S?"

"That's what I was thinking about to be honest." I informed him as he went on to urge me.

"Well take the day to think it over. I'll call Zeta and let her know what's going on."

"Absolutely not!" I shouted out of the blue. Char widened his eyes as I went on to order him and everyone else in the room.

"She is not to know about this. The last thing she needs right now is more stress. Her heart is already broken from her just leaving us without any warning. If she finds out that her daughter could be involved in a military grade crime that could earn her a bounty from the network, I don't know what she'll do. She is not to know Char."

"Okay." He replied as I went to leave the room. Before doing so, I stopped next to Zandro who I begged without looking at directly.

"Please give my baby a chance. If she's guilty…...I'll…..I'll handle it myself. Okay?"

The man had no words for me. So I just left and proceeded to leave the capital. I had no idea what to do. So much was happening and all my thoughts were on Sam. Stopping just short of the gate, I pulled out my phone and made a call to Peek. If anyone could find her over there without drawing attention it would be him. And I have a good feeling Sam would be willing to at least talk to him if and when that moment came.

Sam's POV, The following night.

Rosco and I found a hotel to stay at for the night. Mocha was so tired from the flight she just passed out next to my bed. The tiger himself was getting a shower as I took it upon myself to search the internet for a potential apartment we could move into right away. There were plenty of choices, but the problem was where we were right now. We landed in Los Angeles and the city itself was massive when compared to Iraq. Beautiful and completely different. I was also scared to go out and see it for myself. It was overwhelming and there were so many people. All of which have been nice thus far. Even the staff at this crappy hotel. It was a different atmosphere.

Rosco was thinking it would be best to stay within the city just in case someone was trying to track us down. It would be difficult for anyone to locate us in this mess. Which I agreed with, I was just intimidated by the whole thing.

From time to time I switched tabs to the network's website and looked up my name. Still nothing, but it was a force of habit to look every five minutes. After an hour I went back to my father's contract and began to learn all I could about his past. A lot of things shocked me that I learned. The fact that my dad was referred to as the Gray Death made me wonder just how good of a soldier he had to be to earn a nickname from his enemies. But I also learned that my dad had a long past with the rebellion. He also had a brother he killed during the first war. The site had a lot of small facts about him and it seemed like there were some holes missing as well. It just seems to me that there could be something missing. I don't know what, but to be honest I didn't care.

As my mind spaced out, I didn't even notice Rosco standing behind me. Not until he asked me.

"What are you thinking about?"

I nearly jumped out of my skin when I heard his voice so close to me. He just chuckled and apologized as I noticed he was wearing only a towel. Yet he still waited for me to answer his question. Unsure of what to feel at this moment, I replied to him as he backed away to the bed.

"I was just thinking about my dad. I could get lost in his profile on here. But the more I read about what he did to earn his name, I question some of the shit I'm seeing. There is just a gap in some places. Like there is some information missing or something I'm not getting. It's just a weird feeling I have."

"Does it really matter?" The tiger proceeded to ask me as I watched him take off his towel to begin drying his head. With everything just out there, I replied.

"Not really I guess, but can I just ask you a question? Do you have any consideration for me right now? I mean….are you just comfortable letting your…..business…..flop around?"

Still drying his head, he replied with another small laugh.

"It's not flopping first of all. And to answer your question…..no I'm not concerned with you seeing me for all I am. It's not like you have a reason to care. Last time I checked you seemed to enjoy our first time. Why get wet feet now? Does my natural being bother you?"

I knew he was trying to be funny and in all reality I didn't really care seeing his dick. If anything this was just new to me. Not like I had many boyfriends before this. Not saying he and I are a thing, but I guess we're at the least something. Giving the tiger a small smile back as he finished up with his head, I replied after we had locked eyes.

"No it doesn't bother me. I'm just not the most open person on account of how I grew up. This whole thing is new to me and I guess I'm just not fully adapted to it yet."

"Fair enough." He chuckled back as I looked right at his package as he stood up to wonder.

"Have you found any good places yet?"

Taking my eyes off of it I replied.

"A few, but I want you to look at them when you get a chance. If we're gonna move in somewhere I want you to like it too."

Nodding his head, Rosco replied as he bent over to open his suitcase.

"Let me just get dressed real quick and I'll come look."

"Okay." I mumbled back as I turned to refocus back on the computer.

After a few minutes Rosco and I decided on a place and settled for going to it tomorrow morning. My focus for the rest of the night would be to sleep, but with Rosco getting ready for bed, I looked to my phone to find a text message from mom. It read.

"I understand why you left. Your father is an asshole. That's never been a secret between us Sam. You know I love you more than anything else in this world and I tried to talk to him about apologizing to you for what he did that night. I don't know if you'll respond to me, but I just want you to know that my love for you will never change. You're my daughter and no matter what; I just want you to be happy. If running away to the states is what will make you happy then by god as my witness I will support you in any way I can. Please just text me or call me if you ever need something. I'll drop whatever I'm doing to help you because I'm your mother. Just please settle something for me so I'm not driving myself crazy thinking about it. Did you leave because of what he did to you? Or is there something else going on that I don't know about? You were never a talkative person and I regret not talking to you more when you were here at the house. Just please, when you get the time, let me know what's going on. I won't overreact like your father. I've already done enough of that within the last six hours. If you don't wanna talk to me for whatever reason; I just want you to know I will always love you. I love you Samantha. Please don't let what he did be the end of us."

Rosco sensed I was reading something important when he saw my eyes water. Staying on his side of the bed we had to share, he asked me softly.

"What is it?"

I offered him my phone to see for himself. After a few moments, he handed it back to me to suggest.

"I'd tell her the truth if I were you. A mother is no father. A mother is a mother and they won't ever turn you away no matter what shit they're kids get into. And at the very least Sam I'd think of her over everything else you're feeling right now. Make things easier for her. Take your time. I'm gonna try and get some rest. Okay?"

I just nodded as he turned over. Left with the choice to answer or not I struggled making my fingers form the words.
