"I understand your points and claims, truly, but are you positive this is a wise idea?" Eyre, the Supreme Kai of the Third Universe questioned, putting his glasses back on his nose, as they viewed one of the planetoids in their home universe through a giant screen. "This is not the time for jokes! The planet you are laying your eye upon is the more primitive planet in our whole universe!" Once the Zeno Expo had ended, Eyre and Mosco, who was the God of Destruction of Universe Three had immediately begun to scour the many planets in search for powerful warriors. Inside the robot, Mule sneered quietly to himself, Eyre always acted as if mechanical lifeforms were superior to actual living lifeforms, and at times grew infuriated that he would come out of the hatch and remind him of who he was.
"Perhaps, but it is the one that has one of the most powerful warriors," affirmed Camparri. "It just goes to show that this planet is proof that technology cannot surpass man in all areas."
Mosco immediately made various beeping noises, which Camparri, his Guide Angel translated.
"Lord Mosco says 'I don't care which planet they come from! While technology does have it's many uses, organic beings can perform outstanding feats at well. Each have their pros and cons. All I want is to bring together the best fighters in our universe.'"
"Yes, but I still believe machinery and technology could do us some good here!" insisted Eyre. "Are we really going to let this bunch of primates represent us when we have hundreds of planets with futuristic technology?"
"As Lord Mosco had just said, sometimes technology cannot be superior to non-mechanical mortals," repeated Camparri. "Lord Mosco, shall I make the preparations?"
Immediately, the God nodded, before blinking once. The order was given, as the giant screen zoomed into the planet much further, until the three laid their eyes upon multiple mortals, certainly a group which was very animated, most in a place called Wano Country in the Oden Castle Ruins. There were other mortals in the screen in different locations, and it was confirmed all ten would be chosen to represent the Third Universe, and prevent it's destruction.
"Lord Mosco, requesting permission to relay the message throughout the entirety of the planet."
The mechanical Destroyer had responded with a thumbs up, as the Angel twirled his staff around a few times, and pointed it towards the screen showing Planet Earth, as it and the ball on the staff began to glow. The Angel was now beginning to broadcast his voice throughout the entire planet so that the message could be heard, although the screen showed ten individuals only, as they were the specific targets.
"Dear inhabitants of this planet..." The mortals on the giant screen ceased whatever sort of plan or operation they were executing or planning, as they grew much confused as to just who was speaking to them. One even accused their fellow ally of playing games with them.
"My name is Camparri, the Guide Angel of Universe 3, the one which you all currently reside in. I apologize for any inconvenience or interruption, as we are addressing to you all a very important message. Exactly ten days from now, there lays a possibility, that being your universe completely wiped out and annihilated, slated by Grand Zeno himself, the supreme ruler of the entire multiverse. The reason for this is the mortal level has not reached the sufficient standards in the eyes of the Omni-Kings, and has decided to wipe out all of existence in the universe. Fortunately, there is hope, as you have a chance to be granted a reprieve. The multiverse-oriented Tournament of Power is to be held in ten days, deciding the fates of the many universes competing in this grand event, and should you prevail and emerge victorious, your lives will be spared. However, should you meet defeat, you shall be wiped off the face of the multiverse. The requirement is ten powerful mortals to participate, and as such, based on combat analysis, ten random mortals will now be chosen at this moment."
Quickly, the Angel banged his staff on the ground ten consecutive times as the ten mortals on the screen began disappearing from sight one by one, much to the shock and confusion of the others around them, as one by one, they landed on a metal platform that had spawned right in front of them.
First were Monkey D. Luffy and Trafalgar D. Water Law as they fell onto the metal platform with a THUD!
"Greetings mortals," Camparri greeted them, as the two began to get up, very confused and hurt.
"Ahhh... what just happened..." Law wondered, rubbing his sore head.
"I'm thinking the same thing..." Luffy moaned, sloppily regaining his balance and standing
Suddenly, more figures appeared above them and the duo had to immediately move out of the way to avoid getting crushed by the next two, who were much bigger than both of them. It was a good thing they did as the two giants landed so hard it made the ground itself shake.
"Oww... my damned head," Kaido of the Beasts complained, having a terrible headache from the overdose of alcohol he usually consumed on a daily basis, getting off of Charlotte Linlin, more commonly known as Big Mom, who was just about to push the former off of her in a mixture of frustration, anger, confusion and annoyance.
First thing she knew, she was sound asleep ready for the next day, next thing she knew, she hit metal and woken up to see a giant man onto of her, who was lucky enough to not face her wrath.
Soon, other people appeared over her head and landed on her, much to her extreme agony and annoyance. Then sliding off her onto the metal ground, "Red-Haired" Shanks managed to land on his feet, as did Charlotte Katakuri. Further, materialized in light, Borsalino, also known as Kizaru appeared while displaying surprise and confusion as he looked around, as did Sakazuki, also known as Akainu, who stared at the people around him with a dark gaze.
Finally, Marshall D. Teach, more commonly referred to by his epithet Blackbeard, fell on his back with a loud THUD! on the metal floor, while Donquixote Doflamingo used his huge belly as a trampoline to stop his fall.
Slowly, he got up while he was still handcuffed and wearing his prison clothes, confused. Did someone break him out free using some strange technique, or maybe thanks to an unknown or new Devil Fruit?
Then, turning his gaze, he saw Luffy and Law not far from him, and immediately veins appeared on his forehead. It was those damned Straw Hat Pirates, right there in front of them, ripe for the picking, but before any ten of them could pounce on anything, their bodies were surrounded by a white aura, as their bodies completely halted, slowly being lifted off the ground at the same time until they were each a few inches next to each other. It was as if an invisible pressure was crushing them and preventing them from moving.
"We apologize for our unseemly method, but we couldn't take the chances of a brawl occurring amongst you mortals," Eyre inadvertently insulted them, but it was true as not everyone here was fond of each other.
"I DON'T KNOW WHO YOU ARE, BUT YOU'D BETTER LET ME GO NOW!" Big Mom roared, trying her best to break free of this seemingly invisible bind, but she was completely immobilized, along with everyone else.
Mosco beeped and whirred for two seconds, prompting his attendant to speak. "Lord Mosco says 'Ahh, but none of you have a choice, you see, because your very existence depends on this. Your personal quarrels are nothing but inconsequential at the moment, as this is a much more serious matter, now either all of you calm down or you can bid your lives goodbye!'"
They all felt it.
Just simply being in the presence of that giant robot unnerved all of them... even the terrifying Big Mom. Their entire bodies were shaking with fear.
The huge robot's only eye gazed upon every single mortal that was raised before it, with Mule sneering inside, annoyed they had to restrict their physical movement just to get them to listen to them. Immediately, they were all victims of a strange impression, as their bodies shook as if they were leaning on a massage chair. This strange robot, none of the pirates dared to attack him. They were absolutely petrified to the core.
"Alright... who are you?" Luffy finally spoke for all of them, the other having the same question implemented in their minds.
"This is Eyre, the appointed Supreme Kai of the this universe. By his side is Lord Mosco, the God of Destruction of this universe, and I am Camparri, his Guide Angel."
Mosco once again began to make whirring and beeping noises. "Lord Mosco says 'This universe in particular is the Third out of twelve."
"Wait... this universe? Are you telling me aliens are real?!" Luffy gasped.
"Indeed, mortals, must all of you be so primitive," Eyre sighed, shaking his head to and fro, annoyed already at the ignorance of Luffy.
"Allow me to explain once more," Camparri jumped in. "We are the supreme deities of the Third Universe, normally the Supreme Kai and God of Destruction here are responsible for maintaining balance in the cosmos here, however today, many universes have been threatened with complete annihilation due to Grand Zeno, the supreme ruler of the entire multiverse, has come with a source of entertainment for himself, are you all following with me here?"
Again, the ten mortal residents of the Third Universe in front of him were looking at him without really understanding what he was saying.
Sighing, Camparri shone the tip of his staff and created a hologram, to show the vast wide open space, with twinkling stars and small orbs which were planet, some bigger than others.
"This is the universe we currently reside, Universe 3."
He then enlarged the hologram to show twelve balls circled around each other, in multiple colors.
"And these are all the existing universes, with a number of twelve in total. There used to be a combination of eighteen, but that was eons ago."
Then he presented as a hologram, a short and small being with a blank expression on his face, with a kanji for "all" (全) on the front of his attire.
"And this here is Grand Zeno, the supreme ruler of this whole multiverse, there is no one more powerful than him across the cosmos."
"You're telling me your ruler... is a child?" Blackbeard wondered.
"I wouldn't speak such words about the Omni-King, Marshall D. Teach, no matter the time or place," Camparri warned. "Now then, Grand Zeno is the being who created all of the twelve universes to exist. Now, you may remember when I mentioned there used to be a total of eighteen universes. Over billions of years, some universes have obtained a level that has become inferior to others, and Grand Zeno deemed them unworthy to thrive, and such erased them on the spot without warning. Now, he plans to do the same once more to other universes, and unfortunately the Third is one of them, but thanks to the intervention of a Saiyan from Universe 7, you have a chance to save your universe, a tournament is going to take place in ten days and all ten of you are going to participate. If you win, your universe can be saved."
The bindings on the mortals were released as all ten of them were slowly placed on the floor.
This was all too much information for them to process all at once, but some were in denial, like Kaido, one of the Four Emperors.
"All of this is giving me a headache," Luffy moaned, unable to process the information being overloaded in his brain.
"YOU EXPECT US TO BELIEVE YOU'RE GODS JUST LIKE THAT! RELEASE ME IMMEDIATELY SO I CAN SLAUGHTER YOU WITH MY OWN HANDS!" Kaido exclaimed, pulling out his giant club, and rushing the Supreme Kai immediately, but Mosco immediately stepped in his way, as he let himself be hit, as the ground trembled with an ungodly roar, as some of the other mortals failed to keep their balance and fell down.
Kaido smirked, expecting to see the giant robot laying on the ground, dead, but to his surprise, the God of Destruction was still standing, without the slightest scratch. What's more, the club had been stopped in between his giant hand.
He actually subdued his attack!
He wasn't given any time to process what just happened, as Mosco used his other hand to flick Kaido on his forehead, with very little force. Still, this was more than enough to lift Kaido's enormous body off the ground and send him flying into the metal terrain, crushing the bones in his skull, and throwing him hundreds of yards back. Finally, he crashed onto a cliff while smashing it to pieces.
Everyone else was started and turned to see the pile of rubble, and under it was the monster that was able to one shot Monkey D. Luffy, passed out as he laid on his back. His pupils were gone as blood ran down his face. Mosco had defeated him in a single attack.
Immediately the pirates and naval admirals realized how powerful Mosco was. Since Whitebeard's death, everyone agreed that Kaido had become the most powerful man on their planet. Still, he wasn't strong enough to be a challenge for Mosco.
Everyone immediately took Mosco seriously… except Luffy, thinking he was some other foreign pirate he had never heard of.
"Well, what do you know, Kaido wasn't that strong after all!" Luffy sighed in relief, that he was dealt with quickly.
"Yes he was, you moron!" Law retorted, drawing his sword. "It's this strange robot who overpowered him. He's the real threat here!"
But before either of them could strike Mosco, Camparri tapped the ground with his staff. Immediately, the brains of the competitors were struck by an electric shock. Screaming in pain, each of them could glimpse the meeting of the Gods of the many universes, as well as the fight between the Destroyers, Goku and Top, and the Grand Minister announcing the Tournament of Power.
Once Camparri removed the sequence from their minds, each of them just stared at the Angel, not really knowing what to think at this point. These Gods were indeed what they were, and they were being serious.
"A tournament... between the most powerful warriors from nine universes... including this one?" Law repeated to himself.
"So there, we really have no other words to describe this unprecedented situation," Eyre sighed, cleaning his glasses with a napkin and putting them back on.
"What do these stupid stories have to do with us?!" Sakazuki growled. "I have other things to do besides attending to the affairs of gods! If you want a super powerful team, go find some other Gods for all I care!"
"Even if we wanted to, divine intervention during the tournament is forbidden," Eyre explained to them.
"And if you are here, it means we have chosen you due to your potential and power," Camparri began, looking at the competitors. "Going in order of strength, we have Kaido, Charlotte Linlin, Marshall D. Teach, Shanks, Sakazuki, Borsalino, Charlotte Katakuri, Monkey D. Luffy, Donquixote Doflamingo and Trafalgar D. Water Law! But in order of usefulness, Law's and Doflamingo's capabilities can also come in handy! In fact, if you work as a team, you could be invincible, but considering the conflict between all of you, I highly doubt that's a possibility."
The Angel knew very well that there were several tensions between the members of the team. Working together seemed to be impossible.
Then as if he was in a school field trip, Luffy raised his hand. "I have a question," he began.
"By all means, go on," Camparri authorized.
"So basically in short, if we win, our universe is saved, but if we lose, we'll be wiped out along with six other universes?"
"That is correct."
"And whatever happens, seven universes will still be erased at the end of this tournament."
"Indeed."
"But that's not cool," cried Luffy. "I really like the idea of fighting other people with other cool power just for sport, but I don't want to be the reason they all die."
"These are the rules that have been relayed, and we can do nothing to change them. All you can do is show the Omni-King what your universe is capable of and show you deserve to continue living to your fullest extents, and should our universe emerge victorious, you will be given the esteemed honor of having any three preferable wishes of your desires granted with the sacred relics, the Super Dragon Balls."
"Dragon Balls?" Law repeated. "You mean those mystical stones, are you actually serious about them granting wishes?"
"Indeed, there is nothing outside of the dragon's grasp. You can even ask for immortality and it can be granted without question."
Hearing the last words of his sentence, a smirk appeared on Doflamingo's face. Immortality, you say?
"And I guess if we refuse, you Gods are going to kill us," assumed Katakuri.
Mosco immediately began to make more whirring noises.
"Lord Mosco says 'It is not worth the effort. Should you all refuse and weaker warriors form our team instead, you are all certain to die! You have no choice in deciding not to be part of this tournament, your universe's safety will be secured only if you win.' Those are Lord Mosco's words to you."
"So let's say that we do accept, exactly just how strong are these other people?" Luffy questioned, genuinely curious.
"Hmm… a reasonable query," confessed Camparri. "Truth be told, if he went all out, the mortal Top could possibly be on the same level as Lord Mosco. It's not a completely accurate estimation, it is only a possibility."
Again, everyone was shocked, those two mortals, Goku and Top could possibly take on all Four Emperors and come out completely unscathed.
"Now then, it's plentily evident you all have no chance against those two in your current states, and I have no doubt they are preparing for this tournament as well as the other universes. In order for your training to proceed smoothly, you will be broken up into groups and send you each to a separate dimension from our, where you can practice and improvise for the next ten years."
"Wait, YE-" Luffy was whisked away along with the others before he could finish.
Everyone as been told, had been separated into groups, with Luffy, Katakuri and Law were in a giant, wide open white space with seemingly no end to it. There seemed to be no walls, and if they were any, they were most likely invisible.
"I don't like this place!" Luffy complained. "There's nothing even around here, where am I supposed to find some food?"
A wide, multicolored beam stroke the ground, as Luffy finished his silent complaint, as the light dissipated to reveal the Supreme Kai.
"Forget about nourishment and concentrate on the task at hand," Eyre ordered him, as he held out both of his hands to his right, creating a robot the same size as Mosco, looking like it was primarily made out of armor, with a helmet with a black visor, and some blue parts around it's armored body.
"Now then, I'll explain how your training will go! You will fight against this robot and attempt to defeat it, and after the battle has finished, it will review over it and share the results, and see if there's room for improvement in you. Luffy, you will be first to attack."
Luffy smirked, his heart pumping with excitement, to show these Gods just what he could do. "Sure, a Gum-Gum Pistol should do the trick nice and easy!"
"Ahh I see, if I understand correctly, you have consumed the Gum-Gum Fruit, one of the many Devil Fruits on your planet, with yours in particular materializing your body into rubber. This should be a fascinating experiment to undergo, certainly!" Eyre beamed, his glasses shining as bright as a star.
In an instant, Luffy's right arm lengthened to elephantine proportions as he stretched it back, and let if fly towards to robot, driving a fist into it's face. He did it with such a high magnitude force that the robot exploded and shattered until it was nothing but a bunch of parts upon contact. Immediately, the force of the blow made the robot explode, shattering it to pieces.
"Wow, looks like these machines aren't all that strong," Luffy whistled, unimpressed, as was everyone else. They wouldn't get any sort of formal training if these robots were so fragile they could be destroyed so easily.
Eyre however, didn't flinch and kept a confident smirk, as a metallic noise broke the silence, as the deteriorated parts of the robot began to move on their own, reforming one by one, and once again stood the robot Luffy had previously defeated, it was as if he hadn't even touched it in the first place. On it's visor, alien script was thoroughly displayed on the top while on the bottom was a small bar, usually seen on loading screens, as it slowly filled until it reached the end, as the robot finished analyzing the short brawl that had taken place and processed the data, for what Luffy was capable of.
"It just came back..." Law mused, eyes widening slightly.
"Go ahead, Luffy, attack it again with the same move," Eyre ordered.
"Um... okay. So you want me to do another Gum-Gum Pistol then?"
"At your leisure."
Shrugging his shoulders, Luffy performed the same movement with the same force and speed, expecting another one-shot, but what the captain of the Straw Hat Pirates didn't expect was for the robot to grab the incoming fist and use it to repeatedly slam Luffy onto the floor for a few seconds, before Luffy struck him with his extended leg, causing him to let Luffy free of him, as it held it's own leg in pain. Luffy saw this as an opportunity to attack again as his leg was embodied with Armament Haki, before striking the robot's head and once again, causing it to explode into hundreds of tiny pieces, and like the last time, the robot began to reform itself no sooner than Luffy touched the ground again, analyzing and processing the data, and searching for room for improvement.
"So the robot's been analyzing Luffy's movements as it reassembled itself and fought," Law understood.
Eyre nodded, putting his glasses back on his nose correctly. "Indeed. This indigenous robot is the latest creation of the Kelps people of Planet Kelp! A robot with a brain parallel to ten supercomputers! During a fight, it first remains motionless and analyzes it's opponent's movements! Then, it processes information which allows an improvement of it's capacities and capabilities of any kind! With each fight, it gets stronger as it registers and can predict his opponent's attacks with ease, and in addition, it's body is composed of a metal that attracts it's own kind, similar to a magnet, each time it is separated into pieces, it can recompose while microfibers take care of reattaching the limbs! I daresay it is one of the greatest inventions known to our universe!"
"I understand," Katakuri asserted, arms crossed. "The more we fight this robot, the more it becomes our worst enemy because it can predict all our attacks."
"So to defeat it, we'll have to improve constantly," said Law. "However, this robot will also be improving each time we fight it, it's like an endless cycle."
For his part, Luffy cocked his head to the side before confessing his confusion. "I didn't understand a single thing you just said."
"Fine, for the sake of your feeble mind, I'll once again elaborate this in a manner your miniscule mortal mind can comprehend!" Eyre snarled in annoyance. "Just content yourself with fighting this robot over the next decade and your power and abilities will reach heights you would have believed to be impossible to seek!
"And what about the others?" Law inquired.
"They will undergo a similar exercise, you have been broken up into individuals groups, the first being you three, the second consisting of Shanks, Kaido and Linlin, the third comprised of Borsalino and Sakazuki, and the final group is formed of the duo of Teach and Doflamingo! By putting you like this, we create pairs or trios with the ability to improve quickly."
Eyre then created two more robots the same as the first. "So, gentlemen? Do you believe yourselves to be up to the challenge, or are you primates simply too perturbed to face the futuristic technology our universe has to present?!"
Immediately, he heard the three mortals crack their stiff bones, knuckles or their necks before turning to the three robots.
"Watch me," Law proclaimed. "I'll be able to beat these stupid machines with my eyes closed."
