Guess who's backkk! Yea sorry for the insanely late updates but honestly I'm always like this so don't expect me to be putting out a 10k word story anytime soon...or any kind of story soon. *Sigh* School's a pain plus I've been trying to get this story on Wattpad but I honestly have no idea cause I'm so dumb.
You might be wondering why this chapter's shorter than the rest, well that's because I keep forgetting that my fanfiction exists and also this is a 0.5 chapter. I don't know if any of you prefer 0.5 chapters which are a lot shorter than the actual chapters or for me to spam big chapters which will take way longer to write. Anyways, I hope you enjoy the short chapter which is probably all over the place but my brain's too dead to fix it and I really need to get back to class.
"You're almost there! Just a few more steps!" Shouted Toshinori.
It's been almost a week since Shinjiro joined the All Might training program, which was something Toshinori came up on the spot, and he was currently dying.
*Flashback*
"Seeing as we have two people being trained by me, we should come up with a name for this training regime! Hmmm let's see…I know! I'll call this the All Might training program!" Shinjiro internally sweat dropped while Midoriya was busy fanboying over the name.
"The hell? This is just a way to captivate you into enduring hours of pain" Shinjiro thought as he watched Midoriya getting more pumped as he dragged a fridge across the floor without breaking a sweat.
*Present*
Grabbing at the sand and mustering enough strength to pull himself to the finish line, Shinjiro was beat. He and Midoriya had just run up and down Takoba Beach more times than he can remember. Just before that, he had gotten earlier to help Midoriya with cleaning the beach so he was extra tired this time.
He lifted his head off the sand and saw a hand stretch out toward him. It was Midoriya who was as equally as beat but still kept a smile on his face. Shinjiro smirked and grabbed his hand as Midoriya pulled him up.
"Well done boys!" Toshinori gave them a slap on the back, causing them to stumble forward a little. "Young Shinjiro you are done for the day! I won't push you as hard as young Midoriya you know!"
"Oh *pant* great *pant* thanks Toshinori *pant* san" Shinjiro fell back onto the sand in exhaustion.
"Ah! Shinjiro-san!" It took him a while before he could recover from the intense training.
It was now long past evening and after having a dinner out with Midoriya and All Might, Shinjiro had made his way back to a small apartment close to U.A. He was lucky Nezu decided to rent him a place to stay instead of the small living space the mouse was living in. That meant no more concussions due to the miniature door frames and small utensils that fit a small animal than a human being.
Shinjiro walked up a few stairs and walking down a small walkway, feeling the air through his skin. He reached a door and pulled out a key before unlocking it. He lazily pushed it opened to be greeted with cold air rushing out of the apartment.. It felt nice for a second seeing as Shinjiro didn't get to have a nice shower after training.
He took his shoes off and stepped into the apartment. It was a simple living space with a couple of rooms, Shinjiro didn't have time to decorate or fully set up his furniture so there wasn't anything interesting to look at. What was interesting though, was a massive chair in the center of the living room.
"Welcome back Shinjiro-kun" The chair swung around to reveal a mouse sipping tea. Shinjiro let out a small groan acknowledging the rat before throwing his backpack on the floor and free-falling onto the couch. "I see you were having fun training"
"What part was fun?" Shinjiro mumbled but somehow his voice was heard by the bear.
"Why everything of course!" Ness started. "You got to train with the best hero in the world, what's there to not be excited about?"
Shinjiro let out another groan in response. "It was fun for like the first day. I can't move my limbs and I'm pretty sure the sparring with Midoriya left me with cracked ribs and a broken skull" Before getting up from the couch and walking over to the fridge. Getting an ice pack from the freezer, he set it on his head.
"I'm sure you'll be fine"
"Wow, thanks for caring about me" The teen sarcastically remarked.
"If I didn't care for you, then you would be out on the streets like a hobo and starving"
"Damn that's harsh…but coming from you it's not the worst" Shinjiro let out a small chuckle despite how tired he was. "I'm assuming you're here to talk? Let me have my shower first" He said before lazily shuffling to the bathroom.
"Alright, I'm done what do you wanna talk about" Shinjiro came out of the toilet in a set of pajamas and a towel covering his head, water still dropping down from the tips of his hair.
"Ah, goodie!" Nezu set down his teacup and put his fingers together like some kind of evil mastermind. "I'd like to talk to you about your hero costume" He put simply.
Shinjiro blinked. "Are you kidding? This was what you wanted to talk to me about?" Nezu nodded in response. "Why?!"
"Because you usually have to put in an application for your hero costume that's sent to the development studio for creation. However, due to the fact that you are quirkless, we have to be careful with the creation of your costume as making sure it's suitable to take hits from people with quirks. Plus, wouldn't the wearer want to make his own suit than leave it to others?"
Shinjiro responded with a head tilt. "So, all I need to do is create my own super suit?"
"That's right"
Shinjiro scoffed, looking away. "W- wait. I can't make a suit, I- I- I'm not even sure I can make one"
"I know you can and you will. You are Queen Construction's son after all," The mouse calmly sipped on his tea. Meanwhile, Shinjiro was busy shaking his hands in denial.
"No way! I can't, it'll be impossible."
"With the resources U.A has, it'll be possible to create whatever you are wanting to create."
"A-Are you sure?" Shinjiro got a little too close for comfort, for Nezu had to slowly push his face away.
"Yes, Shinjiro-kun. Tomorrow you will come with me to the studio where we'll provide you with anything you need to create your hero costume"
Shinjiro thought for a minute before putting on a devilish smile. "What if it wasn't a hero costume?" Only to be poked in the eye. "Ow! What'd you do that for?!"
"I'd rather have you not turn to the dark side so soon" Nezu put on a smile.
"I- It was a joke… anyways, I'd better start working on the suit design and stuff," Shinjiro said as he got up and stretching his limbs, only to wince in pain. "Ow ow ow owww, on second thought, Imma just lay on this comfy couch and not move"
"Good night Shinjiro-kun," The rat said, already at the door.
"Good night Nezu"
"What was that? Did a bee just speak to me?"
"I'm not still calling you dad"
"Aww that's too bad," He said, giving Shinjiro one last look before closing the door.
"And once again I'm alone…why do I feel like this is going to become a recurring thing?" Shinjiro sat up and grabbed a nearby pen and paper. "Ah, whatever just gotta focus on creating my suit" Silence befalls upon him as ideas stop flowing.
…
"Soooo…how AM I supposed to create a suit?" Silence befalls once again, Shinjiro swearing he could hear crickets outside.
"Ah! I got it! I could start by using the hardest metal on the planet as the exterior while adding poly fibers and extra cushion in-between to soften blows and-" Shinjiro slaps himself on the head.
"I'm doing it again" He let out a sigh. "I need to stop talking out loud like some mad scientist voicing his plans. Well, there's no point dwelling on it now" He clicked his pen and started to draw.
*BUZZ* *BUZZ*
Shinjiro jerked awake at the sound of his phone going off. He let out a groan and rubbed his eyes. "I'm getting a weird case of deja vu" He checked his phone messages as his eyes go wide. "Shit! I'm late!"
He shot up and started dashing around the house getting ready in what seemed like something out of The Flash. Grabbing a piece of toast from the toaster and slinging his jacket over his shoulder, Shinjiro kicks open the door and starts running. However, he had left something important behind.
Ness was currently waiting outside a giant door that led to the development studio, checking his watch periodically and scanning the hallways for any sign of Shinjiro.
"Nezu!" Came running a panicked Shinjiro before skidding to a halt. "Sorry I'm *pant* late *pant* "
"It's fine, you could have sent me a text if you were going to be late though" Nezu seemed to brush it off before putting his hand…paw? on a black plate. The plate lit up as it scanned his paw, before the giant iron doors hissed open. "You first"
Shinjiro reluctantly nodded before stepping into a chaotic yet wonderful room. It was filled with inventions to the brim! There were tons of different kinds of things placed on shelves, hanging from the ceiling and floors, some were even going off in the room itself! There were explosive boomerangs, burning light sticks, belts and bracelets that shined with power, boots that were flying across the room, and even a transforming coffee maker! Shinjiro was astonished at the marvelous creations before him.
"Why'd the writing style just change?" Shinjiro thought before Nezu spoke.
"Amazing isn't it?" Nezu walked in.
"Yea, it really is amazing" Shinjiro felt like he was on cloud nine if the cloud was filled with electronic devices that is. "I honestly think my inner geek is coming out"
He walked deeper into the studio where machines that helped create even bigger gadgets stood, mechanized arms on the sides and foot imprints on the stands. Taking the time to soak all of it in, Shinjiro was in a paradise he never thought he'd be in. Being able to create his own suit, with his own specifications and design. He couldn't wait to get started…until him patting his pockets drew a concerned face.
"I think I left my blueprints at home. Awww nooooo, I don't get to start now?" He complained.
"Doesn't mean you can't" Shinjiro grinned and started rushing for the equipment, grabbing materials, and placed all his items on a nearby workbench. Nezu just smiled as Shinjiro totally shut out the world around him, already welding and muttering up a storm on how his suit would look like.
{8 hours later}
It had certainly been a while since Shinjiro had officially started on his hero suit and it had certainly been a while since he was seen last exiting the development studio. Everyone in the school had left for the day, even the school faculty who were concerned for the boy by checking on him every once in a while. Shinjiro never budged and he clearly hasn't eaten anything in hours.
Even All Might had come to check up on him after hearing he had started on his hero suit.
"Now, now young Shinjiro you should learn how to take a break. Being stuck in here must have it's downsides" But Shinjiro would shrug him off, telling him he's almost done and he'd "not spend a long time" in there. But as expected, things didn't go according to plan.
"Dammit!" Shinjiro yelled as gears and pieces of paper hit the floor. He had his hands planted on the table and his head down. "There's just this one thing missing, ONE THING!"
He flipped up his notes and checked drawers, going around the studio and aggressively shoving materials aside and replacing it with new items. But nothing seemed right to him, there were so many items that would be helpful in combat, however, none were suited for him.
He one deep sigh as he checks again…and again and again for any sort of clue that would finish the one thing that would let him take down his captor. But, there was no kind of progress and Shinjiro slumped down on his chair holding his head in defeat.
There will always be that one moment where you're so close but you fall short. Sadness overwhelms you and you fall into a slump. You don't feel like doing anything and sometimes you feel like a failure for not being able to achieve the thing you're so desperate to. But, when you just think it's all over, a miracle happens. This miracle happens in a small light illuminating the dark.
Shinjiro got up from his chair and walked over to the mysterious light covered in a bunch of old papers and notes. It was a small crystal shaped in the form of an elongated nail and glowed a bright blue. Shinjiro reached his hand out to touch it only for a stinging sensation to run up his finger when he touched it. In a reflex, he pulled his hand away from the miniature crystal. He blew on his finger and shook his hand in an effort to stop the burning.
Still keeping his eyes on the strange object, he reached for a pair of nearby clamps to pick it up. He picked it up and began examining it, it was weird how this bright crystal shined brighter than any of the other items Shinjiro had seen in the studio. It was strangely familiar to him, on how it was shaped and how it radiated a light bright enough to warm him up. In a trance, Shinjiro went over to his half-built suit before hitting some buttons on his computer that popped out compartments on the chest.
Placing the crystal in the middle of it and closing it up, suddenly the entire suit started to glow a bright blue. First the center, then strips that weren't properly placed together, the arm guards, and finally the eyes. Shinjiro widened his eyes in surprise, this was it! The item he had longed for…well, at least the last eight hours.
A piece of his hair sprung up in excitement, Shinjiro silently laughed to himself. "Am I going insane or is this actually happening" He rubbed his eyes to see if he was hallucinating. He broke into full laughter to show his extreme euphoria.
"YES! I FINALLY DONE IT!" If not for the lack of people in the school, someone would definitely call a hero due to Shinjiro's criminal like laugh…or a mental asylum.
"SUCK IT TONY STARK!"
{In another universe}
"Achoo!" A man in his forties sneezed. "Hey! I'm in my prime okay? I'm actually younger than some people, I'd like to think I'm eternally 25."
Shouldn't you be talking about that cross-dimensional call out?
"Achoo! It's happened again! Jarvis remember me to call that freaky doctor and tell him to set up a portal so I can give a quick ass-whooping to whoever did this. It's happened too many today!"
And so, thus begins one man's journey to be a hero.
"Already one pal! Also, I'd like to think of myself as something more than a hero"
I'm not talking to you Tony, now get back to work and pretend I don't exist.
