Good lord, I'm late. Um, hello everybody! Welcome to the 1st YEAR ANNIVERSARY CHAPTER YAAAAAAY. Well it's not exactly been one year yet, I just wanted to post it earlier since I'm going to be busy this weekend. Can yall believe it's been a year since I started this fic? Yes? Well, shit.
So much has changed in a year as you can tell. The writing's changed, the style and formatting have changed, I've made the story cleaner, and stupid grammar mistakes are still present. I love my life right now. I used to think to myself oh yea I totally need a serious story because MHA is pretty serious at times. But I never looked at the comical side of things, like okay here's a couple of *not* funny scenes and that's it. Now, at this point, this fic has become a crack fic with a hint of seriousness when it needs to be serious. I feel like as a writer and stuff, I'm here to entertain and not bore you with the same things over and over again because at this point, TPU,IG has become somewhat of a self-insert actually not some-what but it is a self-insert. A lot of people out there think that self-inserts are boring and too overpowered and sometimes that's true. But, since we're still at the beginning, I still have time to change things round and mix it up with original arcs. (Trust me I got all the OG arcs planned out and when they gonna happen)
That's a pretty long-ass text wall. God, I'm so lonely. Speaking of loneliness, we need more reviews up in here. I don't care if it's slander or yall saying I'm a shit writer. Give me the clout lol. (Great now even the haters wouldn't want to review)
OKAY, TIME TO FINALLY START THE CHAPTER GOD I'VE BEEN TALKING FOR SO LONG I KNOW I KNOW. PLUS THERE'S MORE AT THE BOTTOM HELP ME-
Shinjiro and Tokoyami walked through the front door of the building, seeing no one around they decided to travel further in.
"Well...that was easy," Shinjiro said.
"I doubt it will be easy once we get closer to the bomb," Tokoyami stated.
"True, but the thing is we know where the bomb is thanks to the slight disadvantage we have against the other team," Shinjiro pulled out his notebook with a rough sketch of the map. "Since we're not allowed to bring the map in, I decided to quickly sketch it all down"
"Hmm, I see. You are quite informative Shinjiro"
"I guess you could say that. Now let's see… the bomb's on the topmost floor so they probably want to stall us on the lower floors for as long as possible"
"Plus, the floors here seem to be never-ending. This could take a while get up there"
"True, but since we know where we're headed, let's just try to get up there as soon as possible," Shinjiro said as they sped up their pace.
Sero finished up taping the entire room using his tape acting as tripwires to alert them.
"Asui-san you good up there?" He asked.
"Please call me Tsuyu kero," She replied. "And yes, I am fine"
"Good, we'll rely on you for the sneak attack," Tsuyu was perched up in one of the corners of the room ready to pounce on the enemy team once they entered.
"Great, our defenses are set up perfectly now we just-"
"Agh! I can't wait here any longer!" Kirishima complained. "It's not manly to just wait for the enemy team to come right to us!"
"Since they know where the bomb is, the best we can do is secure and protect it as much as possible. Plus the building is quite big and it'll take a while for them to get up here," Sero explained.
"It's okay! I'll try to go and stall them for as long as I can!" Kirishima started to run off.
"Kirishima wait! Ugh, he's gone...oh well at least you're still here Tsuyu-sa-" He turned to where Tsuyu was last seen and saw that she was gone.
"Tsuyu-san?" He looked around confused.
"Here kero," She said from behind him, making him jump back a couple of feet.
"Yah! Don't do that!"
"Are you sure we're going the right way?" Tokoyami asked.
"Uhhh, probably," Shinjiro repiled. "It's exactly easy navigating through this stupid building. I swear normal buildings aren't like this"
The duo was moving as fast as they could to get to the top of the building. Unfortunately for them, the building doesn't seem to want to be cooperating with them and purposefully trying to throw them off with turns and twists...and the impossible-to-find staircase.
"Seriously where the hell is this staircase, we've spent enough time looking for it!" Shinjiro said, getting fed up.
"Hey isn't it over there?" Dark Shadow had come out of Tokoyami and pointed toward a door that totally wasn't there before.
"Wait, that wasn't there before," Shinjiro said.
"Dammit! Beaten right to it!"
They went up to the door, getting ready to breach it like the FBI's found your location. Tokoyami and Dark Shadow nodded and Shinjiro opened the door carefully. Dark Shadow went in first to make sure the coast was clear.
He gave a thumbs up and they all moved in together.
"So these are where the stairs are," Tokoyami said.
"Why'd it take us this long to find?" Shinjiro grumbled as they went up the stairs. The reason it took forever to find it, is because I'm not great at writing this anymore.
"Everything's clear!" Dark Shadow shouted from higher up the stairwell.
"Good, now let's keep going," Tokoyami climbed the stairs faster. Dark Shadow went back in him as soon as he started climbing.
"I wonder how he's not losing his balance in that cloak," Shinjiro wondered.
"Soooo, Tokoyami...I don't really know much about you other than the fact you were four when you named Dark Shadow"
Tokoyami flinched in response.
"P- Please forget about that." He coughed. "What about you? You haven't said anything about you either."
This time Shinjiro was the one to flinch. "Aha...you got me there."
"Hmmm, I'm just a regular kid wanting to become a hero. Like everyone else," The bird boy replied.
"Nothing about you is regular though..." Shinjiro sweatdropped. "Eh, what'd you mean like everyone else?"
"What do you mean? Doesn't everyone nowadays want to become heroes?"
"Not everyone..." Shinjiro sighed. "I mean that's true but… I'm sure there are others who don't want to become heroes. I mean without them society wouldn't technically be functioning the way it should"
"I see," Tokoyami said.
"A man with a few words huh?" Shinjiro rubbed the back of his head.
"And a man with more than just a few words," The other replied after they finally reached the top of the stairwell.
"Ahah- yea. I guess you could- WATCH IT!" Shinjiro shouted as he grabbed the back of Tokoyami's cape and pulled him backward. The door was kicked off its hinges and into the wall. The duo went tumbling down the stairs as they avoided being hit, although they didn't come out unscathed.
"Ow...I shouldn't have done that," Shinjiro groaned. He sat up and held up his back. "Tokoyami you okay?"
"He's a-okay!" Dark Shadow said, revealing himself acting as a cushion for Tokoyami. The quirk set the boy down and floated beside him.
"Really? You couldn't do that to me?"
"Hey, I'm his quirk, not yours," Dark Shadow shot back. They looked back up the stairwell to see none other than Kirishima standing at the top of it.
"Yo! Glad to see you're all still standing!" He waved.
"Tch," Shinjiro clicked his tongue. He never expected Kirishima to be kicking doors down and cornering them in the stairwell. "Tokoyami follow me"
He decided to move into the floor they were currently on instead, confusing the spiky red-head.
"Hey! Get back here!" He started walking down the steps.
"Shinjiro, where are we going?" Tokoyami asked as they got far enough away from the door.
"We're running out of time and we haven't even seen the bomb. Here's what we're going to do, I'll distract Kirishima while you go get the bomb. All we need to do is touch it right? Just get Dark Shadow to wrap around it and we win," Shinjiro explained.
"I understand," He nodded, before trying to find a flank around.
Shinjiro patiently waited for Kirishima to get into view before slightly waving at him.
"Huh? Where's Tokoyami?" He asked.
"Tokoyami? Never heard of him," The raven-haired teen repiled.
"He gonna flank me? If so then that's not very manly of you," Kirishima put on a serious expression.
"Nope. Just you...and me," Shinjiro lifted his hand up and gestured to him to come closer using his fingers.
"Oho! Now you're talking!" Kirishima grinned as he walked closer, hardening his skin to become jagged and rough. His hands became literal iron knuckles and he banged them together, causing sparks to fly.
"Didn't expect him to become that hard...that's what she said," Shinjiro got in a defensive position, waiting for the boy to attack. He wanted to give Tokoyami enough time to get the bomb while also not trying to lose so fast.
As Kirishima walked closer to him, he saw Tokoyami near the door nodding and Dark Shadow giving him a thumbs up. Shinjiro smirked before readying himself to attack.
As the bird duo went through the door, Shinjiro launched forward. He picked up enough speed to deliver a hard kick to Kirishima's side, forcing the boy to flinch.
"What the- How'd he moved that fast!" Kirishima thought as he had no time to react to the swift kick. He stumbled back but regained himself due to his defensive quirk.
Shinjiro on the other hand…
"Ow," He said in a stoic voice.
"What kind of reaction was that!" Kirishima comically shouted.
"Just trying to hold in the pain," Shinjiro said as blood trickled down his leg, having pierced through the gym uniform.
"I thought these uniforms were supposed to be sturdy! Dammit!"
"Damn, I'm surprised!" Kirishima said. "No one usually can force me back like this! By doing that, it means I'll need to go all out!"
He formed a grin on his face as he ran toward Shinjiro.
"I really wish I could go home right about now!" Shinjiro yelled in his mind. Kirishima had swung a right hook at him, causing Shinjiro to duck under it to avoid the ragged fist. He countered with a punch to Kirishima's gut, but as soon as his fist connected he instantly regretted the punch.
Having done no damage to Kirishima and more damage to himself, Shinjiro just pushed Kirishima back before stumbling back himself, creating some distance between them. Shinjiro clenched his fist with his other hand which was currently bleeding. The pain stung his hand, but he did his best to hold it in.
"You know you're doing better than I thought you would," Kirishima gave him a thumbs up. "Although, I don't think many people can bleed that much after getting hit by my quirk"
"That's because of the plot. They don't like that much blood," Shinjiro deadpanned.
"I'm pretty sure we're in the middle of a battle trial right now. Don't you think giving out compliments during a battle is good?" Shinjiro said.
"Oh right..." Kirishima rubbed the back of his head. "My bad!"
The red-head teen went in for another swing on Shinjiro. Time slowed as his fist traveled through the air like a missile, aiming straight for Shinjiro's face.
"Should I use it?" Shinjiro asked himself. "Ah screw it, I did make it to be tested today anyways"
Shinjiro clenched his right hand and hit a button that was attached to the thing on his arm. The metal bar on his arm immediately responded and started activating. He brought up his arm to block Kirishima's attack, praying it would activate on time.
*CLANK*
"What?" Kirishima said with a shocked face.
The bar revealed a blue light being emitted from it. It grinded on Kirishima's hand, causing him to pull back and getting a better look at the item. It was a blade. A blade that ran through from the wrist to the elbow and was as long as the metal bar itself.
Everyone in the observation room was shocked because everyone nowadays is getting shocked by the simplest things. All Might himself was shocked too, after all, he's been pretty much kept in the dark with what Shinjiro has been doing in his spare time.
"So you like it?" He asked. "This is a special metal alloy made by yours truly. It's meant to be an all-purpose blade with defense and attack. Even though it's not yet perfected, I can say that it's getting there thanks to the special flaps making the blade sturdy and not so easily breakable. Not only that but the toggling system I made is brilliant, isn't it? I'm a genius right?"
Everyone witnessing Shinjiro geeking out sweatdropped.
"I...have no idea what you just said but cool," Kirishima said confused.
"Don't worry Kirishima-san, you'll get to see what happens since you're the experiment," Shinjiro grinned before lifting his forearm up, showcasing the blade.
"Wow...who knew Shinjiro could be like this," Kaminari remarked.
"It's kinda cool!" The invisible girl said.
"Young Shinjiro...just what have you been up to?" All Might wondered.
"Well...I don't really wanna find out!" Kirishima nervously said before deciding to slam the ground as hard as he could. It created a mini shockwave that traveled through the floor.
Shinjiro almost lost his footing as the shockwave came and went. After regaining his footing, he saw a piece of rock being hurled in his direction. Like any logical person would do, he sliced the rock in half with his blade. It was a clean cut as sparks temporarily flew while he cut through it. He looked up to see Kirishima taking more rocks out of the building's infrastructure and chucking it towards him.
"You know. This. Ain't. Fun!" Shinjiro exclaimed as he sliced through rock after rock, slowly making his way to Kirishima. He sliced through one final rock before Kirishima was right in front of him.
"Shit"
Shinjiro was then promptly punched by the red-headed teen himself, sending the boy back and slamming his body against the wall. Shinjiro slumped down into a sitting position as Kirishima panted.
"Ugh..." Shinjiro blinked a couple of times for his vision to clear. "I'm not paid enough for this."
"Shinjiro come in," A voice rang in his ear. "I've located the bomb"
"Great...about time Tokoyami," Shinjiro weakly said through the comms. "Then why isn't this over?"
"Well, that's because..."
"We're having a nightmare over here!" Dark Shadow shouted.
Unfortunately, even the bird duo are in a pickle. Thanks to Sero's tape and Tsuyu's quirk, being a frog aka long sticky tongue, Dark Shadow managed to get himself captured. The sentient quirk stuck in a roll of tape and Tsuyu's tongue, struggling to escape. Wait, if Dark Shadow's a shadow then can't he technically just shadow form his way out, ah whatever he's a psychical body now.
Tokoyami grit his teeth, he was in a bad position right now. Not only was his only form of attack captured, but he had to go up against two of his fellow classmates which is not a fair advantage.
"So Tokoyami! What will you do now!" Sero said before started to laugh maniacally. Tsuyu, who was still holding onto Dark Shadow, tried following Sero in doing an evil laugh but all we got were croaks. She's adorable I tell you.
"Shinjiro! I'll try my best to get to the bomb, but once you've beaten Kirishima I'll need all the help I can get," Tokoyami said through comms.
"Agh...got you," Shinjiro said as he stood up. The boy struggled to stand after Kirishima's hard hit. "Looks like...I'll need to try harder"
He got in a fighting stance, ready to take on the hardened redhead. The blade on his forearm let out a spark or two, indicating some damage. Kirishima put his fists together, ready for another bout.
"Yosh! Shinjiro! Let's end this!" Kirishima yelled before charging straight toward him once again. He ran faster than a speeding bullet to reach Shinjiro and released a punch toward him.
"Really?" Shinjiro deadpanned as he quickly blocked the punch with the blade before swiftly cutting across Kirishima's body with it. The attack didn't seem to faze the guy as he flinched for a second before going in for more strikes.
With each blow Kirishima dealt to Shinjiro, it was just deflected over and over again. Unfortunately, Shinjiro only had one blade which meant deflecting two punches from two different angles would be harder. His patience was wearing thin, trying to find the perfect counter but with each passing second the further back he was pushed. Real soon, he was up against the wall he was punched into earlier.
"Damn! His strikes are so heavy!" Shinjiro struggled to keep up with Kirishima's unrelenting advance. The only thing he could do is keep defending, but that would mean Kirishima would be hacking away at the blade and potentially destroying it in the process. "I ain't losing this blade!"
"Take this!" Shinjiro lifted up his left hand and socked Kirishima in the face. As expected the damage was more to Shinjiro than Kirishima, but it gave him enough time to make a counter attack.
He launched an upward strike from Kirishima's stomach onward, sparks flying. He stumbled backward, allowing Shinjiro to kick him even further away. Luckily, the shoes didn't break so Shinjiro wouldn't be going home with bloody feet.
Kirishima fell onto his back from the kick, letting out a groan in the process. He got up to see Shinjiro fidgeting with his blade before hitting the side of it causing the blade to glow brighter.
"Are we ending this? I got a teammate to back up," Shinjiro remarked.
Kirishima just grinned as he forced himself back up and...charged at Shinjiro again. Is that the only thing he knows how to do?
The boy threw a left hook instead of a right this time, focusing all his power into it. Shinjiro moved in to block, holding up the blade with the other hand to support it. Unfortunately, even an extra arm wasn't enough to hold against Kirishima's punch as Shinjiro's arms were quickly knocked downward.
Kirishima's left hook was also flung downwards, so he used his right arm to try and uppercut Shinjiro. But, the self-insert was smarter, he knew the attack was coming after slowly studying Kirishima's fighting style.
"Relies a lot on his quirk due to its defensive power. He isn't afraid to get hurt, that I can say. Recklessly charging straight into battle and always starting off with a hook or jab. Seriously, can he get more innovative?"
Shinjiro went in for an uppercut with his blade as well, but due to his hands being on the left side he had no choice but to try and swipe up from the left. Their respective attacks clashed and grazed off each other. Then they struck again...and again, not letting up.
"They're really going at it," Said Mezo Shoji, otherwise known as buff tentacle man.
"None of them are letting up either. It's kinda cool," Kaminari said.
"This is…." All Might thought. "A war of attrition! "
Shinjiro and Kirishima continued going at it, with the former using kicks and quick slashes to mix things up. Meanwhile, Kirishima didn't care, he was continuously attacking Shinjiro without caring about himself. Soon, both combatants were tired but none of them stopped, sweat poured from their faces and their gym uniforms soaked.
But all of this happened in just a couple of minutes. So, as their fight raged on, Tokoyami on the upper floor was having a battle of his own. Dark Shadow was still trapped and a two-on-one fight is bound to happen.
"There's no way I can get around that tape!" He grit his teeth. "For now, I need to focus on getting Dark Shadow free!"
He leaped forward, causing Sero to spring into action.
"No, you don't!" He said before spraying tape out of his elbows. Tokoyami effortlessly dodged the inaccurate rolls of tape though, as shooting them at a distance isn't really going to do much.
Instead of continuing running, Tokyami stopped and dodged back as another roll of tape came his way. He landed and knelt down, thinking of his next move.
"Tsuyu keep Dark Shadow bound! I'll get him!" Sero yelled. But before he could do anything, a cloak was thrown onto him. "Ah! Wait, I can't see!"
He comically flailed his arms around as he tried to take the cloak off him. However, he felt a sudden tug on his waist as his arms stuck to his sides. He couldn't move, as the feeling of his own tape was slowly coiling around him, making it tighter and tighter to break free. Then, the cloak was removed, revealing Tokoyami holding the capture tape in his hands.
Sero had been mummified, not fully but you get it. It rendered him useless, leaving only Tsuyu left to handle Tokoyami. The fight was now fair one on one, except for the fact there's still giant landmines in the form of Sero's tape covering the room.
"Sero-tan!" Tsuyu said, but in doing so loosened her tongue grip on Dark Shadow. That meant, the quirk was able to free himself from the clutches of the frog.
"Hahaha! I'm free! I'm fre-" Dark shadow said excitedly before running straight into another string of tape. Tokoyami stared blankly as the quirk tried freeing himself from the sticky tape. "Tokoyami help!"
"Compose yourself Dark Shadow," Tokoyami ordered.
"But you aren't helping!" Dark Shadow complained like a small kid.
"Shinjiro, I've incapacitated Sero. All that's left is Tsuyu. What's the situation down there?" Tokoyami radioed to Shinjiro, ignoring Dark Shadow's pleas.
"I would really appreciate it if you won right now!" Shinjiro yelled over the comms. It was pretty obvious from his tone of voice that he was getting frustrated but tired at the same time.
He and Kirishima had been going at it ever since the redhead kicked him down the stairs. There had to be some kind of way to defeat Kirishima, but his defense is too high for Shinjiro to do anything.
"Unless..." Shinjiro thought as sweat rolled down his cheek. "I do this!"
He launched himself forward and spun around counterclockwise once, building up momentum for his attack. Kirishima held up his hands to block, as Shinjiro delivered a strong strike to the blocking Kirishima.
*Crack*
"Oh..." "Ah..."
Sparks and bolts flew through the air, soon giant chunks of machinery and a single blade hit the floor. Everything was quiet as the sound of metal hit the floor. The two combatants froze in place. Shinjiro's hair covered his eyes as Kirishima had a nervous expression on his face as he stared at the broken weapon. He robotically turned his face to face Shinjiro, who was still looking like an off-brand anime protagonist.
"S- sorry! I- I didn't mean to-" Kirishima tried apologizing but he was cut off when he was grabbed by Shinjiro. He was then promptly zapped by the crackling broken weapon.
"Gggggyahhhhh!" He got comically shocked before being thrown into the nearest wall, instantly knocking him out due to him canceling his quirk after the incident.
His soul comically left his body as it slid down the wall and landed in a pretty uncomfortable spot. Shinjiro just stood there for what seemed like forever before bringing up a hand to his earpiece.
"Tokoyami," He said coldly.
"The objective is secured," Tokoyami replied. Dark Shadow was wrapped around the bomb with Tsuyu in the corner tied up with the capture tape. The surroundings were pretty much the same, aside from the tons of broken tape on the floor, the cleaning crew's going to have a nightmare of a clean-up.
"Good..."Shinjiro said before going over to the broken remains and picking up a few of its pieces. He took the metal bar off his arm and stared at it for a while. He then proceeded to comically cry like a child all while not breaking eye contact with his invention.
"I can't believe this! This took me...WEEKS!" He fell to knees dramatically and proceeded to pull off one of those movie things where they cry to the sky...or ceiling in this case.
Everyone in the observation room sweatdropped once again. Meanwhile, All Might...was writing down on his notepad furiously.
"I have so many questions! I need to ask- Wait…" He quickly grabbed his microphone. "The hero team wins! Now let's all regroup back here and review!"
~{After training}~
A whistle went off signaling the end of training with All Might and the class stood back at the entrance of the tunnel.
"That's a wrap! Super work you guys really stepped up the plate. We didn't have any major injuries except for Midoriya… and maybe Kirishima." He looked toward the red-head who was holding an ice pack on his head.
"But overall, amazing work!" All Might gave a thumbs up to all of them. "All right folks! I should go and check on Midoriya right now to see if he's alright. Now watch a pro hero exit, I've got somewhere to be!"
All Might dashed as fast as he could to the exit, all while the class stared in awe.
"Now that's what you call a hero!" Kaminari pumped his fists.
"I'll never be that fast," Ojiro remarked.
"So cool!"
As All Might ran through the tunnel, he took one last look back at Bakugo, whose head was down the entire time after his fight.
"Bakugo's pride really is something, however, a school like U.A's bound to shatter it. As his teacher, it's my sworn duty to counsel him well. As for the rest of the class as well," All Might held a hand to his mouth as his body started smoking. "But it looks like that'll have to wait for now"
He started coughing as he reached the exit gate, slammed the button for the door to shut, and tried to catch his breath. He coughed again, this time revealing blood as his All Might dissipated. Toshinori wheezed as he caught his breath.
A hand reached out to him and patted his back.
"Y- Young Shinjiro?" Toshinori said in shock. "What are you *cough* doing here?"
"I thought this'll happen. You can't hold that form any longer could you?" Shinjiro smiled as he offered a handkerchief to the hero.
"Ah thank you," Toshinori said as he wiped the blood from his mouth and hands. "S- still how'd you-"
"I snuck out while you were commending the class," Shinjiro said as a thought bubble of him sneaking around All Might to get to the exit.
"That still doesn't make sense"
"And neither does this story"
"Huh?"
"Anyway, we should go and see Midoriya now," Shinjiro walked a couple of steps away.
"Don't you still have class?" Toshinori questioned.
"Hmmm, don't care. Midoriya's injury is more important anyway," Shinjiro put his hands on the back of his head. He smirked at Toshinori before walking toward the nurse's office, leaving the hero to sigh as he rubbed the bridge of his nose.
"Ow! Ow!" Currently, Toshinori was getting whacked in the head by Recovery Girl's cane.
"Why do you keep bringing back these deja vus?" Shinjiro sweatdropped.
"What the hell are you making him do!" Recovery Girl yelled. "This has been happening too many times! Any more and he'll most likely end up with permanent injuries"
"I- I know. I'm sorry," Toshinori apologized.
"Well, don't apologize to me," She turned her chair towards Midoriya. "He's too exhausted from my quirk. I can't treat all his injuries at once you know. I did some first aid, and once the IV has finished we'll have to wait till his body heals on its own"
"How long will that take?" Shinjiro asked.
"Judging from his injuries, he might have to stay overnight," She replied. "But seriously Toshinori, I know he's your successor and all but you can't spoil him"
Toshinori let out a sigh. "That's why I'm trying not to play favorites. I wanted to consider his feelings and let him show what he was capable of"
"And you let him blow off his arms in the process," Shinjiro finished. "Honestly, why didn't you stop them?"
Toshinori flinched. "W- Well, I wanted to consider both of their feelings and let the match go on"
"And if Midoriya had done something stupidly reckless that would have resulted in him almost dying...you'd have a lawsuit on your hands."
"Y- You're right. I'm sorry," The hero apologized.
"Alright, that's enough. Any more and you'll make him stoop down to the lowest level," Recovery Girl intervened.
"Heh, who knew the strongest hero is someone like that," Shinjiro joked.
"Hey! Shh," Toshinori covered Shinjiro's mouth. "Don't talk about my identity and One For All when anyone could hear it!"
"Bfdsufft Issfh," Shinjiro tried to talk but due to Toshinori's hand on his mouth, he couldn't. He grabbed the hand and pulled it off him. "I said...but you're the one talking about One For All, not me!"
Toshinori sighed once more. "Only a small amount of people know about this weak form of mine, but as I said before, barely anyone knows about the secret of One For All. You, Recovery Girl, Nezu, a close friend of mine, and Midoriya of course"
"You're the number one hero. Does it really matter if you were born with a quirk or not," Recover Girl swung her chair to face her back to the two. "To be the symbol of peace, is that important?"
"If they knew I wasn't. The temptation could corrupt our society. This quirk...those who wield it are responsible for mankind's safety," Toshinori looked at his hand as he said those words.
"Unfortunately society is already corrupt," Shinjiro said. "But that doesn't mean you can't make it better. That's something you'd say right?"
Toshinori nodded in response. "It's true I can't save everyone. But, I need to try"
"Then, that's all the more reason to protect him," Recovery Girl started.
"And to shape him to be a hero," Shinjiro finished. "But not like you!"
"Gah! Can you not do that? It hurts my feelings," Toshinori said, holding his hand to his heart.
"Heh, but seriously. Midoriya's trying too hard to be like you. He needs to become his own hero, someone that others can look up to. But he just needs to figure it out himself," Shinjiro shoved his hands in his pocket, having changed out of his gym uniform a while back.
~{After School}~
Midoriya slowly opened his eyes to blurry vision, taking a minute to fully adjust to his surroundings. The first thing he saw was white all over, the curtains, the IV bag by his side, and the tube running into him.
He weakly closed his eyes as he tried sitting up to no avail. Instead, his eyes looked down to see his arms in a bandage and him still in his tattered and burned hero costume. He laid his head back onto his pillow, silently apologizing.
"It's only the first day of wearing the costume mom made for me….and it's all ruined," He thought before his eyes shifted to the clock opposite him. "It's...late afternoon?"
"Rise and shine sonny," Recovery Girl greeted him.
"Oh...hi Recovery Girl," Midoriya weakly said.
"Try not to strain yourself too much," She said, undoing his IV drip. "Otherwise you're good to go! Make sure to come back tomorrow okay?"
"O- oh yea. Thanks for the treatment," Midoriya said as he slowly got out of bed and bowed the best he could.
Soon, he was on his way back to class. He sighed as walked along.
"I missed my afternoon classes, Mr. Aizawa's most likely going to chew me out for it," He looked out the window at an orange sunset. The halls were starting to empty as many of the students were going home.
He soon reached the classroom and slid open the door with his not-broken hand. Once most of the class heard the door open, they instantly rushed toward the green haired boy.
"Hey, Midoriya!" Kirishima was the first to go up to him. Soon, everyone else save a few others were gathered around Midoriya.
"E- Eh?" Midoriya slightly jumped at the amount of people around him.
"You remember me?"
"U- Um...Eijirou Kirishima...right?" Midoriya gulped, hoping he was right.
"Yup! Glad to see you remembered me! None of us knew what you guys were saying during the match but you were all fired up!" Kirishima said excitedly.
"I can't believe you held your own against Bakugo!" Sero exclaimed.
"You did a great job dodging!" The pink skinned girl grinned, pumping her fists.
"You guys really turned up in the first match so none of us held back in our rounds!" A muscular boy with puffy lips said.
"Far from elegant but I suppose-"
"Your dodgin was like whoo!" The pink girl said, jumping for joy. "I'm Mina Ashido by the way!" The girl now known as Ashido shook Midoriya's working arm furiously.
"Ah- Ow!" He yelped.
"Oh...sorry," She rubbed the back of her head. "I just get too excited sometimes you know!"
"I'm Yuga Aoya-"
"I'm Tsuyu Asui, I hope we get along kero," Tsuyu emerged from behind Ashido.
"K- kero?"
"And I'm Rikido Sato," The muscular boy pointed at himself.
Midoriya was taken aback by all of it. "H- Hey guys-"
"And I'm Minoru Mineta," The short grape-headed boy jumped out of nowhere, scaring Midoriya a little.
"So noisy," Tokoyami commented to a couple of others who didn't fully jump Midoriya.
"And so uncivilised," Shinjiro said as well.
"We got that reference!" Dark Shadow popped out of Tokoyami to give his take.
"D- Dark Shadow! Stop doing that!" Tokoyami scolded the quirk but you know how it is, the words just go through its ears...wait does Dark Shadow even have ears? No wait he clearly can hear but where are the ears?
The second sliding door opened to reveal Kaminari and Uraraka walking through with a stack of papers each.
"So anyway, wanna grab a bite sometime?" Kaminari tried flirting with the space girl. Well, that didn't really work out since-
"Hey, Deku!" She ran right over to Midoriya's side. Also, don't interrupt me.
"How are your injuries? Are you okay?" She asked worryingly.
"Oh don't worry about it! My injuries heal faster when I have more stamina," He reassured her while not reassuring himself, with his eyes darted everywhere just to not make eye contact with her. The life of a shonen.
His eyes eventually made contact with an empty seat.
"Hey, Uraraka. Where's Kacchan?" He asked.
Heavy footsteps echoed through the empty halls as Midoriya was running as fast as he could to get to the exit. He opted to jump down the flight of stairs to save time, possibly injuring an ankle. We don't need broken legs Midoriya.
"We tried stopping him from leaving but he just wouldn't listen. You just missed him," Uraraka had said earlier.
He felt guilty after what had happened during the fight. Those words played in his mind as he ran down another flight of stairs making it to the entrance of the building.
"Why would you lie to me?! Where's that flashy quirk of yours now?! FIGHT ME!"
He burst out the front doors to see Bakugo in the distance. walking away with his back turned.
"Kacchan!" Midoriya yelled as he ran to catch up with the angry kid.
Bakugo stopped walking, before slightly turning to Midoriya with shadows over his eyes.
"What," He replied coldly, making Midoriya stop in his tracks. It was the first time Bakugo has...you know not screamed at anyone.
"I-" Midoriya looked down, the nervousness setting in. He caved his lips into his mouth, wondering if he should say what was on his mind. "I have something to tell you-"
He looked up and stared straight at Bakugo.
"This is something even I haven't told my mom about...but yet…."
"Maybe then you'd understand what's going on. I wasn't lying to you at all. You're right, I was quirkless all my life and it never manifested while we were still in middle school," He took a deep breath in. "My quirk was given to me...by someone else"
Bakugo turned his face even more at Midoriya, gazing into his soul while the other gazed back into his. He knew deep down that Midoriya was afraid, but the face Deku was making now...staring at him, it was something that raised him to his own level.
"I can't tell you who I got it from so don't ask. I know it sounds crazy and it's like something out of a comic book but… I don't have any control over this power yet. I haven't made it my own. That's why I never wanted to use it on you during the exercise, and yet it was the only way to win"
Bakugo started to shake, in rage, in confusion, in conflicted thoughts.
"I've still got a lot to learn and I know that. That's why I'm here. I'll make sure to learn and grow stronger. And one day, I won't have to rely on people and show you that I can beat you with my own power!"
After finishing his speech, Midoriya shivered nervously. "What have I done? I said more than I needed to say. All I wanted to let him know is that I wasn't tricking him!"
"How fucking dumb do you think I am?" Bakugo turned around to face him fully, cross-marked veins popping up on his head. "A power given to you by someone else? Don't talk to me like I'm an idiot"
Bakugo shook. "You already humiliated me in that training exercise. Did you come here to rub it in? I lost! And to make matters worse it was you!"
He gritted his teeth as he started shaking even more. "I came first in the exams! But it wasn't enough! When I was watching that ice guy...or that fucking friend of yours fight...it made me realized I couldn't beat them in a head-to-head fight!"
He put a hand to his head, his hair covering his eyes as he continued ranting.
"Hell! I even agreed to what that girl was saying! My attack was so stupid!" He pulled his hand down as he started stomping and bawled his fists, wanting to punch or blow something up. "DAMN IT! DAMN IT!"
"Enjoy that win Deku!" He revealed his teary eyes, slightly shocking Midoriya. "You won't get another! I'll show you that you'll never beat me! I'll become the number one hero no matter what!" With those final words, Bakugo turned around panting as he walked away.
Midoriya watched on as the explosive boy wiped away some of his tears as he walked further and further away.
"That...went a lot better than I thought it would. I really thought I was about to get punched there," Midoriya sighed in relief.
"So," Another voice called out, scaring Midoriya causing him to jump.
"Agh!"
"Has the man child finally stopped complaining?"
"Sh- Shinjiro-san!"
"Glad to see you finally saying all that. Although if you had punched him, I think my job would have been done," Shinjiro put his hands on his hips.
"H- How long have you-"
"Since the start. I told you I can sneak in and sneak out of places without anyone noticing, plus you were too caught up with Bakugo to notice me"
"I- I see," Midoriya looked down.
"Hm? What's up?" Shinjiro noticed the boy.
"I just wonder...n- nevermind don't worry about it. Anyways, I was just about to call you. I...kinda want you to help me with something"
"What's that? Call the police? Cause that's happened once but you never did anything," Shinjiro crossed his arms. Yes, this is a callback to Midoriya's stupid decision back in chapter one. I read the comments people and how would you like it if out of nowhere someone calls you asking you to call the police and then hang up right after. You'd be confused right? Exactly, now anyways.
"W- What?" Midoriya gave him a blank look.
"Don't worry about it. What is it?"
"I told Kacchan that I'd make One For All my own power. And for that I need your help," Midoriya raised his hand and made it into a fist, with a look of determination on his face.
"Say no more smol boy. I got you but...that'll have to wait another time. I'm starving, let's go out to eat! My treat!" Shinjiro smiled as he started walking.
Midoriya smiled. "Hai!"
Upstairs in class 1-A, a bunch of onlookers had watched the scene unfold, without the audio of course.
"I wonder what that was all about," Ashido said.
"A fated battle between rivals!" Uraraka said.
"Whatever it was, I feel like Bakugo really wanted to punch Midoriya," Tsuyu said.
"A fated battle between brothers!" Uraraka shouted.
"Now you're just getting carried away!" Ashido comically shouted.
~{Somewhere in the city}~
A newspaper plopped onto a table. It showed news headlines of All Might becoming a teacher, with his photo on there and everything.
"Did you see this joke? It says he's a teacher now," A cold drink was placed on top of the newspaper, soaking it and All Might's face because of symbolism.
"Hey," The man coldy said to the bartender who was basically a pile of dark mist. "What do you think will happen when the mighty symbol of peace-"
A hand extended out toward his own face, gripping his mask, which looked like a face. His messy blue hair spilled over the mask as he pulled it off, revealing a wrinkled and pale man underneath. His red eyes could pierce right through you.
"-finally fall to the villains?" He asked before forming an evil grin on his face.
So...you made it to the end. Congrats, now you have more to read.
I actually finished this chapter like a week ago. So I'm working on the next chapter now and it should be out by at least next month so enjoy that.
Shinjiro: OI! What's wrong with you?
Wydm what's wrong with me?
Shinjiro: Why aren't you giving the other original characters time to shine? It's literally been just me for the past 10 chapters, give us some variety
Okay, okay they're coming. Especially when I said that things are going to happen but they don't. That's past me's fault. I've got 200+ pages of stuff to go through on google docs and I can't remember them all.
Shinjiro: Okay mister excuse
I can cut you out of the story right now and no one would know. Anyway...thanks for reading this chapter! I swear I've got better things to do with my life.
