WOOOHOOOOO I'M BACK BABY!
Ok ok, first off, thanks to all yall for being so patient with me. Even though there were some who were dying to see this chapter come out faster and yes I'm sorry. I've got university things to do and get all that admission crap up. Sometimes I wish I just became a youtuber instead and not get stressed about uni and stuff but eh. Plus I'm moving houses too so packing is a piece of shit but hey we gotta keep moving don't we?
Aside from all that, I still have to admit, I may or may not have rewritten this chapter twice. After a talk with a friend about my story, I diced to scrap my original draft aaaaaand then the second one. Even then I don't think this is the best I've written but screw it, it's currently midnight by the time I'm writing this so LETS JUST POST IT WOO HOOOOOO.
Ok anyways, have fun with the story or whatever, AH LETSA GO
Wait...it's Sunday? Since when did it- Oh, I see you threw in a time skip didn't you? Wait, what do you mean it's the next day?
"Just yesterday, a group of Villains calling themselves the 'League of Villains' attacked an off-campus location with the goal of killing All Might," A news announcer said, the broadcast was up everywhere explaining about the events of the attack on USJ.
Oh...well that explains a lot. I just didn't know there was-
"Everyone shut up, I'm trying to sleep here," We peer into a certain someone's window to see Shinjiro under the covers, not wanting to wake up. "Of course I don't want to wake up, it's a Sunday"
Oh come on, it's a Sunday! The one day you have off from school, you can do so many things like-
"I'd rather not..." Shinjiro mumbled. Well, too bad cause-
*DING DONG*
"Ugh..." Shinjiro groaned as the doorbell to his apartment rang throughout the room. He groggily sat up and rubbed his eyes before slowly getting out of his bed to answer the door. He checked through the pigeonhole if it was anyone suspicious but who he got surprised him. He quickly undid the locks and opened the door.
"Nezu? What are you doing here?" Shinjiro asked.
"I thought I'd pop in for a while. I have a conference with the teachers later today, but my schedule's free for the morning," Nezu smiled. Shinjiro let the rodent in and closed the door as he walked to the living room. "Plus, I wanted to check up on you since I couldn't yesterday. A villain attack on your first week as a U.A. student, it must have been a shock"
Shinjiro sighed. "Honestly, it was more of a nuisance than anything. Normal villains don't scare me, but the giant creatures," Shinjiro widened his arms to mimic something big. "Are the only ones I'm afraid of. Man, that Nomu thing was freaky as hell. What happened to it anyway?"
"I'm afraid by the time we got to where it had landed, it was in bits and pieces. Forensics concluded it was a bomb implanted within the creature itself and was blown up before the villains made their escape. It seems like they didn't want us to pry around their so-called 'All Might Killer'," Nezu explained.
Shinjiro rubbed the back of his head. "Ah, I see. So that's why that Tomura Shigaraki fellow got all pissy about it. Eh, it doesn't matter, we won in the end anyway."
"I see...you're being pretty optimistic about it. I don't think I've ever seen someone as optimistic about a villain attack as you"
"Hehe, living in a family of five for 16 years brings a different part of you out sometimes. After all, there have been scarier things my parents have done so dealing with simple minded villains like that was a breeze"
"Your parents must have brought you up well," Nezu poured a cup of tea and gave it to Shinjiro. "Tea?"
"N- no thanks. I don't like tea in the mornings," Shinjiro waved to him. "Imma go freshen up. I just got out of bed you know"
"I'm guessing all the fighting yesterday wore you out?"
"Hah, not in the slightest. I fought like five guys before Dark Shadow did all the work," Shinjiro started to walk towards his room.
"But I heard from Tokoyami-san myself that you stayed behind to check for any stragglers"
Shinjiro froze in place for a couple of seconds before telling Nezu: "I'll be right out," Without looking back at him as he walked into his room.
Nezu waited patiently for a couple of minutes, sipping his tea calmly as he did. The sneaky rat, he can sense lies. Soon, Shinjiro came out still unchanged but looking cleaner than before. He had a pretty serious expression on his face as he walked toward the rodent.
He scoffed as he sat down on the couch. "So Tokoyami ratted me out huh?"
"He told me after it was all over and that we should check the area for any more villains. I knew something was up because you wouldn't go on your own, especially in a situation like that," Nezu put his paws together and started at Shinjiro. "Shinjiro-kun? How about telling me what really happened?"
"Heh, you really are smart," Shinjiro smiled as he fidgeted in his seat. He looked back at the rodent with a dejected look. "I found him...I found the bastard who experimented on me. But… he got away and...there was nothing I could do. I had the chance to finally end it all but he...was just too powerful."
Nezu noticed as the boy gripped the couch with visible frustration. "Don't feel down about it, I'm sure you'll catch him. Once you become a hero that is"
"Again with the hero talk...alright alright, I'll become a hero," Shinjiro said nonchalantly.
Nezu looked back at him with a confused look before returning to his calm usual self. "Why so suddenly? You've been on the fence with the idea for a long time"
"Well...I told you I met my kidnapper but I never exactly told you what happened," Of course you didn't, it was just the day before. Anyway, Shinjiro proceeded to tell Nezu everything Kazuya had told him during their meeting, not a thing missed.
Nezu's face was relatively unchanging but once he had heard there were more people being experimented on, his eyes went wide. He attentively listened as Shinjiro recounted everything he had heard from Kazuya, the rodent's head storming with thoughts and ideas on possibilities.
"And that's it," Shinjiro finished. "I hope I didn't miss anything. It was quite a lot of stuff-"
"Shinjiro," Nezu said calmly. However, the boy knew the principal was serious. "Why didn't you tell anyone else this?"
Tension in the room suddenly got more tense. The boy paused a moment before responding. "I guess... I was afraid of what would happen if I did. Heh, it was a stupid thing to do by not telling any of the heroes or the police this but those people out there could be like me. Some of them may be even living normal lives even after what had happened to them, I guess...I don't want to disrupt that and put them in trouble"
"But have you ever thought what would happen if we didn't?" Nezu interrupted.
"..."
"If what you said was true with there being others like you out there then they are in trouble nonetheless. This Kazuya came to you saying you're being monitored and seeing your growth, that means there's a chance that the others are also being monitored as we speak. Anything could have happened in the time by you not telling the police. Even if we do not know who or how many people have been affected, at least an investigation would be underway to find out," Nezu explained.
"..." Shinjiro's eyes dropped to the floor. Why didn't he think of this earlier? He was so hellbent on revenge he never fully thought of the others who had been affected.
"Probably shouldn't have said I wanted to be a hero huh?"
"But...this is of no matter"
"Huh?" Shinjiro's eyes shot back up to meet Nezu's beady ones.
"I shall inform the police now. We'll try to keep everything a secret because I do not wish to disrupt anyone's lives and force this secret organization to take action." Nezu said, pulling out his phone out of his mini pocket.
Shinjiro sighed in relief. "Thank you, Nezu"
"No problem, Shinjiro-kun. However..."
Shinjiro flinched as Nezu's tone started to lighten.
"...try not to do this again okay?" Nezu said as he flashed the boy a smile. Shinjiro had chills run down his spine as Nezu's words, while seeming friendly, pierced through his heart like daggers.
"O- okay..."
"Anyway, shouldn't you get going?" Nezu took a sip of his tea.
"Huh? What do you mean?" Shinjiro asked with a head tilt.
"Don't you have a date with Miss Ayano today?"
"Shit!" This seemed to set off a chain reaction in Shinjiro before he darted straight towards his room to get ready. He was about to open the door to his room before he suddenly stopped and robotically turned his head towards the smiling rodent. "Wait...how do you know-"
"I hacked into your phone," Nezu happily showed up his phone to reveal Shinjiro's phone contacts and everything he had done on it.
"WHAT?!" Shinjiro comically screamed before quickly snapping out of it as he was already losing time. "Forget it! We'll talk about it when I get back"
*SLAM!*
With the slam of his bedroom door, Nezu was now left in the living room to patiently wait for the boy. He lightly chuckled before taking another sip of his tea. After the sip, he placed his cap onto the saucer, and the saucer onto the table before taking his phone and dialing a number.
"This is Principal Nezu...it seems the situation yesterday has gotten worse than we thought"
~{Meanwhile; Over at the Toujou household}~
"Oi, do you know where's the-"
"Shut up! Don't disturb me!" Ayano was currently turning her bedroom upside down. Why you ask? I don't know I'm not a girl, I'm a narrator.
She flipped through her clothes but it seemed like none of them satisfied her. She flipped through them again but yelled out in frustration for not being able to pick one.
"Ohhh, I see. MOM! Ayano's going on a da-" The boy was quickly shut down with a flying shoe to the face.
"Shut up, Daichi!" Ayano yelled at the young hero, face as flushed as a rose. "Leave me alone, I'm trying to think!"
"What? Thinking about what you're going to wear to impress some-" Daichi was quickly shot down again with another shoe flying in his face, this time leaving an impression. He groaned before falling back down to the floor.
"Ughhhh," Ayano used her quirk to shut the door to her room. But that didn't stop her brother from opening it and sticking his head through that small opening.
"So who's the unlucky fellow?" He asked, hoping to gain some information about this new person. Ayano was typically an out-going person, however she has the tendency to keep to herself. The fact that someone managed to easily knock down her barriers and even arranged a date was pretty amusing to the boy.
"None of your business, idiot. Now leave before I throw you out of this house," Ayano turned around revealing a crossvein on her head.
"Hehehe..." Daichi laughed, he was in danger. "I've...got some hero work todoseeyoulater!"
And just like that, he was gone. All that was left was a dust silhouette in the doorway before it slowly disappeared. Ayano sighed, it was time to get back to choosing an outfit. Well...this is how it essentially went down: "Too small! Too girlish! Too plain! Too fancy!"
I think you get the idea.
After a few minutes of flipping her room upside down and back again, she slumped onto her bed in defeat.
"What on earth should I wear!" She comically cried out.
"Did I hear a cry for help?" Oh hey, it's the mom. Rikona stuck her head into Ayano's bedroom as soon as she heard her daughter cry out for help. Isn't this a little too cliche? No? Okay.
"Mooommm, I don't have any outfits to wear today!" Ayano complained.
"Now this is a surprise for sure…" Rikona was pretty surprised with the way Ayano was acting. "...But a welcome one. Alright, honey let mama help out!"
Rikona proceeded to activate her quirk. "Constructing time!"
I don't think I need to explain this. Her quirk is construction, she can, well, build anything even...clothes? Wait, you can't build clothes! O- Oh...she's-
"And...done!" She held up a beautiful but simplistic dress and gave it to Ayano. She held it up for a bit before pulling the dress down to reveal sparkles in her eyes.
"This...is perfect! Thanks mom!" Ayano gave her mother a quick hug before running into the bathroom to get ready.
"Make sure to thank me when you get back from your date!" She waved before muttering to herself. "I knew all of that pestering and digging was worth it… now my sweet daughter can finally open up to that Shinjiro and get married! Now for Hina..."
She kept muttering to herself as he walked out of Ayano's room and closed the door behind her.
Oh no, did you seriously make an anime mom? Next thing you know, the dad's gonna be in on it! Wait...what do you mean yes? Oh, screw you author.
"Well, shit..." Shinjiro thought, frustrated by his own mistakes. "I forgot to ask where we should meet up. Idiot"
He was still in his apartment, waiting in the living room while silently berating himself for not setting a place or time. Nezu had already left saying he had to 'go somewhere', Shinjiro just guessed he had to attend the press conference. Moving back to the date though, he quickly shot Ayano a text.
Shinjiro: Hey...um, where are we meeting up?
He waited patiently for her response and when she finally went online, he raised his phone to his face. Damn, if you were this much of a simp I would have-
Ayano: I'll be waiting at the mall. I'll be reaching there in 10 minutes. See you there!
In an instant, Shinjiro's eyes briefly flashed as he darted out of the apartment. Paying for a transport would be too slow, especially with Shinjiro's new found powers. Okay, it's not really a power since he can just punch stronger and run faster, it's not a quirk.
It didn't take long before he reached the mall, albeit looking at his phone for directions. What mall you might ask? There's literally only one that's shown so we'll be using the obvious Star Wars reference.
"I didn't realize it was this far," You're at the mall already, it took you like 5 minutes. "All that fighting must have made me faster huh?"
That's what she said.
"Shinjiro-san!" Ayano called out to him. He spun his head around to see her running towards him.
"Hey, Ayano!" He raised a hand up.
"Sorry, did I make you wait too long?" She asked.
"N- No, not at all. I just got here too," Shinjiro rubbed the back of his head. His mini stutter was from the fact that he was caught off guard by what she was wearing.
"I can tell a mom made piece of clothing when I see one," He thought. Ayano wore a black top over a blue denim jacket along with long blue pants, probably jeans. The outfit was nicely paired up with blue sneakers. Plus, her blonde hair was neatly tied up into a ponytail. Alongside her outfit was a small purse wrapped around her shoulder and resting on her side.
"Pfft," Shinjiro stifled a laugh. "She really likes blue huh?"
"You...look erm...nice today..." She said, mumbling in between words. It was a miracle to her that she didn't break into a stuttering mess. Shinjiro broke out of his...outfit breakdown to process what she said.
"I didn't dress that well did I?" Shinjiro wasn't wrong, all he was wearing was a blue top R2D2 and C2PO on it as well as long black pants. Okay, Star Wars nerd.
"Uh...thanks," He gave her an awkward smile.
"So...where are we going?" She asked.
Oh, right...this was incredibly awkward. Both were too excited to finally meet up in a while that they neither prepared any activities to do. They were stood near an entrance to the mall as people walked past them, clearly having better things to do. It took a hot minute but Shinjiro thought of something.
"I know! I heard there would be some movies on today, let's go!" Shinjiro grabbed her hand and started to pull her toward the cinema. This is a reverse cliche going on.
"Eep!" Ayano let out a light squeal as she was taken by surprise, her hand I mean. It was a first for her, she was always usually the hot-headed and outgoing one so...why did she feel so vulnerable today?
Shinjiro brought her up a couple of floors to the cinema. It's what you'd expect for a cinema, showing a couple of movies at a time with several people lining up to buy tickets. Others came out of one of the rooms feeling great as if they watched a good movie, the Avengers maybe?
"Here we go! Now...which one to pick..." Shinjiro raised a hand to his chin and started thinking. If he knew Ayano for sixteen years, he should be able to tell what kind of movies she likes.
"U- Um...Shinjiro-san? Mind letting go of my hand?" Ayano said with a small blush on her face.
"Huh? Oh..." Shinjiro realised he was still holding her hand before slowly releasing it. "Sorry..."
"I- It's fine..." She looked away.
"A- Anyways...what do you wanna watch? There are showings of spooky movies on today," Shinjiro pointed, causing Ayano to force her gaze forward. Indeed, there were tons of horror movies on and only horror movies. Why? Because of the damn plot that all of the other movies that aren't horror had already finished their showings. Even if they wanted to watch an action movie they'd have to wait for at least an hour.
"I- I guess we could go with that one..." She pointed towards one of the movies that was about to go on.
"Freaky Friday on Nightmare Street huh?" Shinjiro thought, a small smile crept up to his face. "Ayano never was good with horror movies. This'll be fun"
Also, are we kitbashing horror movies together? That's not fair, we just talked about the Avengers minutes ago!
"Alright let me go buy the tickets," Shinjiro pulled out his wallet and started walking towards the cashier.
"W- Wait! Let me chip in," Ayano pulled out her own wallet as well.
"Nono, this is a date. I'm the one that's supposed to be paying for everything," Shinjiro insisted. "I've got plenty of money"
"No, I insist!"
Shinjiro sighed, not wanting to fight with someone overpaying. "Alright, I'll allow it. But only your ticket, I'll get everything else"
"A- Alright..." Ayano walked with him towards the counter.
"Hello!" The cashier happily greeted them. "How can I be of help today?"
"Hey, can we get two tickets for Freaky Friday on Nightmare Street please? Plus a bag of popcorn and two cokes," Shinjiro said.
"Alright, what size do you want for the popcorn?"
"Me-"
"Large please!" Ayano interrupted.
"Aish, this kid and her massive appetite," Shinjiro's eye twitched.
"Alright, including the tickets for two that'll be around 3300 yen," The cashier said. "However...we are having a couples discount today! Which means it'll be 2640 yen instead"
"Oh, alright..." Shinjiro pulled out a card from his wallet and passed it to the cashier.
"Hey wait...is that?" Ayano started to ask.
"Uhh yeah, it's my credit card..."
"Thank you, sir! Please wait here, I'll go and grab your food and drinks now," The cashier said, returning Shinjiro's credit card back and leaving to get their food and drinks.
"Isn't that a U.A issued one? How did you-"
"Shhh!" Shinjiro quickly put a finger on her lips causing her to blush from the sudden contact.
"Mmh!" She quickly moved his finger away from her mouth. "What are you doing!"
"Yes, it's a U.A issued one. I'll tell you about it later," Shinjiro quickly said so as to not attract unwanted attention. Also, we may never know about it ever again.
Ayano just nodded back, still pretty flustered over the sudden human contact.
"Hai! I've got your food items all here!" Luckily, the cashier had come back to give the duo their food and drinks so thanks for saving the awkward atmosphere lady.
"Ah! Thank you very much!" Shinjiro thanked as he grabbed the items, passing a cup of cola to Ayano on the way. "Let's go!"
"H- Hai!" She quickly followed.
"*Sigh* When will I get a boyfriend," The cashier complained. Don't worry, this is a harem story, hopefully you'll be able to.
The couple eventually made their way into a cinema room and sat down at their seats.
"Seeing as we have 10 minutes before the movie starts...what do you wanna talk about?" Shinjiro asked, trying to start a convo in the worst way possible. ...Ok I admit I do it too, it's an unorthodox method but it works I tell you.
"Hmm...I know! What's your favourite superhero?" Ayano had a lightbulb moment.
Also, see I told you it works stupid author.
"All Might obviously, he's the Symbol of Peace after all," Shinjiro said. "And the fact that he's a personal trainer but...he doesn't really help does he?"
Ayano giggled. "I knew you'd go for that. I guess you're a musclehead like all the other All Might fanboys"
"Nono not at all!" Shinjiro countered. "Look...I may or may not have been influenced by the fact that he's teaching heroics at U.A. but have you seen that guy teach?"
"Pfft! I know, right? Every time my class has a session with him, he has all these notes to make sure it doesn't spiral out of control," Ayano laughed.
"And unlike him, I actually don't clench my buttcheeks and punch at the nearest object"
"Pfft," Ayano broke out laughing at the remark. Shinjiro smiled seeing her laugh so hard before joining in on the laughter. He hasn't seen her smile this much since they were children, it's like she went through an emo phase after hitting puberty.
It really was great seeing her again.
"Huh? Did you say something?" Ayano asked, cutting Shinjiro's thoughts off.
"Shit, I said that out loud didn't I?"
"N- No. Just… your laugh is adorable," Shinjiro tried to save himself. Which apparently worked since Ayano's blushing right now.
"W- What are you trying to say idiot! Baka!" She screamed at him before turning her head away in embarrassment.
Shinjiro let out a chuckle before the lights started to dim, indicating the movie was starting soon. He dipped his hand into the popcorn and threw it in his mouth as the cinema screen turned on and started to play commercials before the beginning of the movie.
Classic commercials, some were playing trailers for other movies and some were just product placement. It wasn't particularly interesting but it was good to pass the time.
Shinjiro tried passing the popcorn over to Ayano but she was still embarrassed, refusing to turn her head to look at him.
"*Sigh* I keep forgetting how annoying she can be," Shinjiro internally sighed. Eventually, she grabbed the popcorn box straight out of his hands when he tried once more. Still not looking at him, she ate a couple before passing it behind her for the boy to take.
After a very awkward commercial break, the movie was finally about to start. No, I'm not going to narrate the movie, go see it for yourself. What do you mean it doesn't exist?
"Help! He's killing us! He's killing us all!" A female voice shouted into a phone.
The movie had started some time ago as both teens were now hooked onto the world of horror. Although, I wouldn't say they were hooked. Ayano was using her hands as a shield to protect herself from the incoming jumpscares but I think you can tell it doesn't work very well.
The killer seemingly popped out of nowhere, giving us a perfect jumpscare, before killing one of his victims on screen.
"AHH!" She screamed before burying her face in her hands. Seems like the latest jumpscare shook her to her very core.
Shinjiro wasn't really a fan of horror films but knowing Ayano's hatred of them, he just had to do it. However, he was feeling a little bad right now, he's already scarring someone on the first date. Definitely not a good look for him.
So, like the nice person he is, he wrapped an arm around Ayano to comfort her. She was taken aback for a second before warming up to his embrace. It gave her the courage to lift her head from her hands and continue watching the movie. Fortunately, it was the time for another jumpscare so she yelped and buried her face into Shinjiro's side.
"This is fine..." Shinjiro thought. They stayed like that for a while before the movie finally ended and I don't have to keep narrating over this type of stuff.
"Ah, what a nice movie," Shinjiro stood up, stretching himself.
"Mou, why did we have to pick this kind of movie..." Ayano slumped in her seat.
"Weren't you the one to pick it? You were scared weren't you?" Shinjiro took this opportunity to tease her with a smug look on his face.
"N- No I wasn't!" She said with a small blush on her face, strongly objectifying his remarks.
"Oh yea? What was with the screaming and the clinging?" He threw a real curveball right there.
"T- Th- That was….a couple's thing right?!" She pointed a finger up at him before realising what she said. "Wait! Nono- that's not what I-"
"Understandable, have a nice day," Shinjiro smugly grinned.
"Y- You!" She stood up with a red face before crossing her arms and looking away again.
Shinjiro sweatdropped before shrugging and making his way out of the cinema. Ayano eventually followed suit, bringing their trash with pair had long finished their food and drinks and threw them out when they got out of the theater.
"Hey, I'm going to head to the toilet for a bit," Shinjiro said. "You can wait for me outside kay?"
She sent one eye his way before looking back and continued pouting. Shinjiro mentally sighed before heading to the toilet, while Ayano headed for the she walked out of the cinema, she was blinded by the lights. Don't you just hate when that happens?
Anyways, since they were blinded, Ayano didn't notice someone else walking in front of her until she opened her eyes. She bumped into the guy causing him to spill his drink onto his shirt, luckily it wasn't all of the drink but still, the guy was pretty mad.
"Hey! Can you watch where you're going!" He yelled at her.
"S- Sorry..." She squeaked.
"You better pay for this drink! Plus, I want some compensation for getting my shirt wet," He said, a small grin creeping up his face.
Woah, okay bro that's pushing the boundaries a little.
"Huh?! What for?" Ayano clearly caught on and started to become a little aggressive.
"You know what you did!"
"Screw you pervert!" Ayano screamed getting ready to fight if it came to it, she wasn't a U.A student for nothing.
"Stupid bitch!" Clearly the guy wasn't in the right mood and over exaggerated but we gotta keep the story moving people. He lifted his hand and went for a slap at her, luckily-
"Why do bad things always happen when I'm away?" Shinjiro's deadpan voice was heard although harboring some anger. He had a firm grip on the man's wrist, making sure he wouldn't move an inch.
"What the hell is this kid? Oi! Let go!" He tried to release Shinjiro's grip on him but the boy only gripped harder. "Ow! That hurts dammit! Don't you know you can't use your quirks like that!"
"Who says I'm using a quirk?" Shinjiro's cold voice pierced through the man, paralysing him with fear. "Now get the fuck outta here"
The man was stricken with fear, the moment Shinjiro let go of his hand he darted away like the mad dog he is.
Shinjiro sighed. "I hate this type of stuff. Oi, Ayano you okay?"
He turned toward her to see practically seething with anger, although that was partially calmed down with his interference.
"Why'd you interfere? I could have kicked his sorry ass!" Ayano said.
"Look," Shinjiro pinched the bridge of his nose. "I get it, we all hate pervs as much as you do but you looked like you were about to use your quirk on him right? It's safe to say you'd have legal problems if I didn't step in so... you gotta calm yourself. Take a deep breath"
Ayano listened to what he said and took a deep breath, eventually calming down.
"S- Sorry, that was my quirk taking over. Because of my psionic powers my emotions are amplified," She apologized.
"The bad sides of Professor X, I remember dad telling us about his own emotional problems dealing with his quirk. Seems Ayano's the same," Shinjiro thought. "Luckily, she didn't have an emotion explosion"
"Well...it's okay," He reassured her. "I know your whole mood is ruined now thanks to him, if you want we could-"
"N- No! It's okay, we can carry on the date," She refuted. She was about to say something before a large growl came from a certain somewhere. Her face flushed instantly before she quickly covered her stomach, like that'll help.
"Pfft," Shinjiro stifled a laugh.
"D- Don't s- say anything!" She was red from embarrassment.
"Alright, alright. Let's go, I know the perfect restaurant," Shinjiro said leading the way. "I hope it lifts your spirits while we're at it," He gave her a smile.
(Time skip featuring chibi Ayano chasing around chibi Shinjiro)
The pair were now in a fancy restaurant, apparently, Shinjiro had let Ayano pick the place.
"It seems we both have an eating habit," Shinjiro remarked. There was a bunch of food on the table that both of them had ordered...Shinjiro's wallet is going through the roof after this.
"It seems that we have," Ayano said as music started to play signifying their duel.
Oh no, are we having a food eating competition now? This chapter is getting weirder by the second- aaand they've already started. Do I even need to talk about this? They're eating food and one of them should be winning by now.
I have to keep narrating? Something tells me this is just going to get worse.
Unfortunately, both contestants are neck and neck chowing down their respective meals as onlookers question what on earth is wrong with these two children who seem like they have never had such good food in their life.
"Not letting up are we?" Shinjiro said as he put another spoonful in his mouth.
"Just shut up and eat," Ayano quickly said before starting to stuff her face with food.
This continued on for a while before almost all of their food was completely finished, save for dessert and...whatever else was left.
"Ah~ I'm stuffed," Ayano stretched in her seat.
"Heh, you could say that again. Plus, we still got dessert. You remember how much you ordered? You didn't even let me order anything," Shinjiro leaned back in his seat, holding his food baby.
"Hehe, sorry~" Ayano stuck a tongue out at him.
"Hey...why'd you wanna become a hero anyway?" Shinjiro asked.
"Hm? What brought this up?"
"I don't know...all the craze nowadays of everyone wanting to become heroes"
"And you don't wanna be one as well? Aren't you in the heroics course?"
"That was kind of a last minute type of thing...I didn't expect to do THAT well on the entrance exams," Shinjiro explained.
"You know they have a general studies course right? Why didn't you take that?" Ayano asked.
"Oh well...it's because of a certain someone who convinced me into joining the heroics course," Shinjiro said, thinking back to all the times Nezu and even All Might had tried convincing him to be a hero.
"That's understandable. My parents are two of the top heroes in Japan so I have to follow in their footsteps. I want to carry on the family legacy," Ayano said, holding a fist up to her chest.
"But...do you want to carry on the family legacy?"
"Huh? What do you mean?"
"It must be hard right? Trying to hold on to your family's legacy and making sure to get everything right. Stuff like that can be hard on people," Shinjiro said, thinking of two other people who have been wanting to carry on a legacy.
"I guess...but...it's what I wanna do. Mom and Dad have taught me some great stuff you know!"
"Heh, I'm sure they have. Just try not to burn yourself out in the process, I hope that you can become a hero while still carrying on the family legacy," Shinjiro smiled.
"Not just hope, but I know I can!"
"At least her optimism is still intact," Shinjiro thought.
"Your family must be pretty great huh?"
"Of course they are! They're Mind Breaker and Queen Construction you know"
"Ahh~ I'm jealous," Shinjiro said.
"What about your parents?" Ayano asked.
"Oh...mine?" Shinjiro contemplated for a while, thinking about what to say. "I...don't have any"
"O- Oh..." Ayano felt bad after hearing that, wondering if she shouldn't have asked the question in the first place. "I'm sorry"
"Ok, Shinjiro just stick to the script Nezu gave you. It was a lot of fabrication by the rodent but I hope it's worth it," He silently prayed.
"Don't worry about it, I never knew them anyway so I don't particularly mind."
"Th- Then how'd you get into U.A? Or anything for that matter?"
"I guess you could say I was adopted by a certain rodent..." Shinjiro said, somewhere the certain rodent sneezed.
"Oh, Principal Nezu?"
Shinjiro nodded.
"T- That's actually really cool!" Ayano blurted out.
Shinjiro was pretty taken aback by her statement. "Really? I didn't think it would be that amusing"
"Me and my friends have always wondered about him. He's so mysterious yet so nice, plus I really wanna know why he's a rat," Ayano then squealed. "I just wanna hug him! He seems so soft and cuddly and-"
She quickly realized what she said and covered her mouth.
"D- Did I say too much?"
Shinjiro held back his laughter. "I knew it. You're a cute person on the inside"
Ayano turned red from embarrassment once again. "Sh- Shut up idiot!"
Shinjiro laughed. "Oh, how I missed this….I…. shouldn't tell her about anything. I think….it's best if I allow her to stay like this forever," Shinjiro thought as he formed a sad smile. Sometimes it's best to stay in a wonderland of lies than tell the truth.
This...is crap advi-
"Shinjiro-san?" Ayano snapped Shinjiro out of his thoughts. She seemed pretty worried for him. "You okay? You've been staring at me with a blank face"
"O- Oh, nono," Shinjiro waved his hands. "I- I was just thinking about what to do next!"
"Ooh! I have the perfect idea!" Ayano said excitedly. "But first we need to take care of the bill..."
"I got it," Shinjiro stood up to pay. He was promptly stopped when Ayano grabbed his hand.
"Oh no you don't. You are not paying all by yourself with your fancy little card"
Shinjiro sighed in defeat. "Fine, fine, I'll allow it….until you let go of my hand"
Ayano looked down at her hand intertwining with his before quickly pulling away. She looked away, bringing her hand closer to her heart. I don't like where this is going.
"C- Calm down Ayano. I- It was just h- hand holding...d- don't need to g- get so worked up n- now," She was basically hyperventilating at this point.
Anyways, after yet another cliche experience they finally paid for their meals. Great, is this over now? No? Where are we going to ne-
"Karaoke!" Ayano had dragged Shinjiro along to the nearby karaoke place near the mall.
"What? Didn't you say you were...y'know trying to hide that from everyone?" Shinjiro's eye twitched, apparently appalled at Ayano's sudden decision to visit a karaoke bar.
"W- Well… I already told you that I liked karaoke..." Ayano's voice seemingly drifted further away as she spoke.
"I see where this is going..." Shinjiro thought. He didn't like it one bit though, he never was a singer… and now he has to sing in front of his former sister. "Thank you Kazuha...I hate my life now"
Truth be told, Shinjiro was a horrible singer. There's such a thing as a bad singer, but then you got the people even worse than that.
"I don't need you of all people to be exposing me," Shinjiro thought before mentally slapping himself. "No! This is for Ayano's sake! Suck it up Shinjiro!"
"Shall we head in?" Shinjiro asked, flashing Ayano a smile.
Ayano shyly smiled back and nodded. Shinjiro followed her into the karaoke bar where they were greeted by a woman manning the front.
"Ayano! Welcome back!" She happily greeted.
"Hi Maya!" Ayano waved back.
"I'm guessing you know her?" Shinjiro asked.
"I've...been here a couple of times so she knows me," Ayano explained.
"I see you've brought your boyfriend along too! Glad to see you aren't practicing alone anymore!"
"M- Maya!" Ayano shouted in embarrassment.
"Take care of her okay? You never know what happens in there," Maya directed her voice towards Shinjiro.
"Uh...right..." Shinjiro said, wondering what she meant by that. No one can get hurt singing in a karaoke bar right? Unless they were drunk.
"Grr," Ayano growled before walking up to the counter and passing Maya a card. "Just give me the regular"
"Hehehe, of course Ayano," She took the card and processed it at the register.
Shinjiro took the chance to look around the place. It was quite small for a karaoke bar but it had a nice familiarity with a cosy cottage. The darkness present certainly reminded him of some things he did not want to remember. Glad he wasn't getting any dreams of being dragged down to hell anymore.
Too bad we'll never find out-
"Shinjiro!" Ayano called out, forcing the boy to turn his head toward her. "Our room's ready, let's go!" She was already halfway down the hall.
"Y- Yeah," Realising he couldn't escape from his fate, Shinjiro trotted on.
"Have fun Shinjiro," Maya smiled at him as he walked past her. He gave her a smile in return before following Ayano into one of the rooms where the girl was busy setting everything up.
"Isn't everything supposed to be set up already?" He looked around the room to see empty bottles and cans as well as displaced mics. Spilled drinks soiled the table and the couch, staining it with its alcoholic stench. Even the tv screen was still playing a song, the instrumentals playing in the background waiting for someone to sing.
"Well, this place is a little short staffed so they can't really deal with 10 rooms at once," Ayano explained, tossing the empty beverages into the nearby trash can.
"Let me guess, the only staff here is Maya," Shinjiro concluded.
"Nope, there's two more. But they don't come in today"
"I see…. do you work here?"
"As a matter of fact, I do! Well, I was just hired this week so..." Ayano rubbed the back of her head.
"Heh, of course you do," Shinjiro walked over and decided to help her out with the cleaning. They eventually cleaned the room, although getting rid of the stains would prove to be a hard task.
"Ugh, can't...get...stain off," Shinjiro grumbled as he tried wiping off a stain that formed on the couch.
"Don't worry about those, they'll most likely be cleaned soon. The boss isn't that cruel to not hire cleaning services," Ayano popped open a can and started to drink.
"Yea, I guess you cou-" Shinjiro turned his head around to see her drinking. "Hey! Aren't you supposed to be helping me?"
"What? I already helped you, didn't I?" Ayano argued. "Plus, you were the one to help me...baka."
"...Bruh"
Anyways, that's enough of that. We got some karaoke to get to don't we? Wait...do we?
"Alrighty! So..." Ayano turned towards Shinjiro who was lounging around on the couch, sipping his drink like an old man. "What do you wanna sing first?"
"Erk!" Shinjiro perked up, the thought of him singing came to fruition. "Uhhh, no thanks."
"Aww, why not? It's fun!" Ayano pouted.
"I...don't sing," Shinjiro crossed his arms. "Why don't you start? I'll...think about it"
In actuality, Shinjiro was just trying to find an out. Too bad he won't because the plot wouldn't let him. Also, mainly because he was quite mesmerized by Ayano's singing.
The girl had put on a song and very enthusiastically started singing. Unfortunately, this is a story and it's near impossible to hear such angelic singing coming from a human being.
After she hit the last note to the song, she turned back around to Shinjiro.
"So," She panted after singing her heart out. "How'd I do?"
Shinjiro gulped, having been captured by her singing from the very start. "V- Very good. That...was the most beautiful thing I've ever heard"
"R- Really?" Ayano started to turn red. She looked down and started to intertwine her index fingers together. "Y- You don't think it sounds bad?"
"Bad? Pfft," Shinjiro stood up from his seat to compliment her. "What do you mean bad? Even some pro singers can't match up to that!"
Ayano blushed even harder from the praise. "Sh- Shut up you..."
Oh great she's back to being a tsundere. I too wish this story could get back on track.
Ayano sat in silence, still blushing as hard as ever. Shinjiro meanwhile, facepalmed at the sight.
"Ugh, why do I have to do this..." Shinjiro got up from his seat and went over to Ayano. Instead of consoling her like a normal human being, he snatched the microphone out of her hands.
"What the- hey!" She yelled but Shinjiro was already halfway through picking a song.
"The things I do for people," Shinjiro hated himself for doing this but...it's for the sake of the plot. "Stupid plot, stupid karaoke, stupid everything!"
Once he pressed play after selecting a song, the instrumentals started to play. Ayano stopped pouting and started to pay attention to what Shinjiro was about to do.
And- Oh god….he started. Trust me, I don't think you wanna hear this guy sing. Everyone cover your ears!
Oh god, I can hear it through my hands! No matter what I do! I walk out of the room and I hear it! I put on the best earplugs but I can still hear it! Why is it so painful?!
Please! No more-
Oh...it's over? YES! It's over, it's over! Now we wait and see Ayano's reception to Shinjiro's singing.
"That's..." She started. Come on woman, the suspense is killing me. "...not that bad"
...Fuckin simp.
"What?" Shinjiro was shocked, even he thought his singing was bad. "N- No way my singing is not that bad"
"But it is!" Ayano insisted. "You managed to hit the notes right and you never went off-key"
I'm pretty sure he went off key but still somehow managed to stay on key. But anyway, my point still stands ya simp.
"And you said you didn't want to sing," Ayano walked and elbow nudged Shinjiro.
"All right, all right," Shinjiro laughed. "You wanna keep going?"
"Hell yea I wanna keep going!" Ayano pumped her fists in the air.
Luckily, I bring to you a time skip with chibi versions of them singing karaoke.
Nighttime had fallen once they were done with that long karaoke session. It was fun indeed even though it was just the two of them. They were currently walking back to a nearby bus stop so they could both travel home after a long day out.
"Ah~ That was so much fun!" Ayano stretched her arms.
"Why don't you bring your friends next time?" Shinjiro asked.
"No thanks! Because then they'll bring their friends and soon it'll be a party. I like doing karaoke alone sometimes because it'll be the only time I get to myself," Ayano said. "After all, I live in a big family so you'd never believe the things that happen when we're together"
"Heh, I can imagine some things," Shinjiro lifted his hands and put them on the back of his head. "Hey...it's a nice sky don't you think?"
Ayano lifted her head up towards the sky. The glittering stars sparkled in the dark abyss while the illumination of the moon provided a warm light across the city.
"Huh, since when do you look at stars?"
"Just now obviously"
Ayano giggled. "You're weird, you know that right?"
Shinjiro scoffed."Yea, well I guess I am-"
Their nice conversation was cut off by the sound of something whizzing through the air. Time seemed to slow as Shinjiro's brain couldn't comprehend what had just happened. All he saw...was red. His mind became foggy as he felt himself tilting backwards.
Oh right… pain. Pain surged through his shoulder as he fell back, the blood didn't seem to stop flowing out of his body at that moment. Amidst the red, was a thin and fine blue arrow. It glowed through the dark crimson that stained his perfect Star Wars t-shirt.
Ayano didn't seem to notice until he was halfway to the ground, her expression changed to shock and fear.
After that initial shock factor, time sped up and Shinjiro hit the ground hard. The glowing arrow was still in his left shoulder, leaving him with severe enough pain to knock someone out.
"Shinjiro!" Ayano cried out and went by his side immediately. "H- Hold on!"
It was clear she was traumatized and in shock from what had just happened. She shakily brought out her phone to call the police before a voice spoke out.
"I wouldn't do that if I were you missy," A familiar voice said. He came into view after hiding the darkness. Well, wouldn't you know it? It's that one gang leader from before.
"After all..." The leader drew back another arrow in his energy bow. "..I have a score to settle"
Ayano instinctively got in between the leader and the fallen Shinjiro. She held out her arms like every body blocking technique. The leader sighed in response, lowering his bow.
"I knew this would happen, boys!" He called out and out of nowhere, his goons came from behind and grabbed Ayano. They dragged her backwards so that no one would interfere in his business.
"Hey! Let go of me!" She yelled, struggling to undo the grasp of the two lackeys holding her back.
The leader stepped on Shinjiro's chest. "So, I took up your offer and enhanced my quirk. Hehe, you know...I gotta thank you. Otherwise I wouldn't be able to do this," He mocked before drawing back his energy bow straight at his face.
"S- Shinjiro!" Ayano screamed.
"Shut up!" The leader shouted at her. He then turned his head back towards Shinjiro and started to form a grin. "Don't worry boy...we'll take good care of your little girlfriend"
"*cough* Oh piss off..." Shinjiro thought. He weakly raised his hand up but it was quickly smacked away by the leader's foot. He did a fast and heavy stomp onto Shinjiro's chest causing the boy to weakly grunt in pain.
He was angry, his blood boiled in rage...or was that the blood in his throat slowly making its way out of the body.
"Any last words boy?" The leader proceeded to pull back his arrow as far as he could, clearly wanting to see how much damage he could do.
Shinjiro still had some strength left in him despite the arrow in his shoulder sucking out his life force. He lifted his head and glared at the grinning leader, before giving him a small smile in return.
"I'll see you in hell," He coughed.
"You little shit!" Then he released it.
Shinjiro couldn't even close his eyes due to how weak he was. All he saw was the arrow slowly making its way towards his face and all he could do was just wait for his impending doom.
"What the-"
Sike, you thought. It was all-
"-per...fectly….planned," Shinjiro had one final thought before passing out due to his injuries. The energy arrow hovered in front of his face, seemingly paused in time.
"Hey! What's going on-" The confused leader looked up to see Ayano emitting a strange aura around her.
When I tell you she was pissed, she was really pissed. Hell hath no fury like a woman scorned. I guess this is what you get when you pissed off Jean Gray.
She immediately threw the two lackeys who had grabbed her into the nearby wall, nearly cracking it with the force of impact. The leader stumbled back and looked like he pissed his pants. He soon realized that he did have a quirk and quickly formed another energy arrow by pulling back his bow.
"S- Stay back! I- I'm warning you!" He threatened to release another arrow but was quickly picked up by an invisible force and thrown to the side. He landed on the road which was pretty clear since it was pretty late.
"W- What the hell is wrong with this girl?" He said to himself before gathering his bearings and shooting an arrow straight at her. The arrow barely made it five feet in front of her before getting deflected while an unflinching Ayano slowly walked towards the leader.
"Stay away! S- Stay away!" The leader shouted before firing a couple more arrows in his fear, all of which were easily deflected. He quickly started cowering after realising his attempts were futile.
"N- No...stop! Don't come any closer! YAMERO!"
*Beep….Beep….Beep*
Well, that certainly was a new beeping sound. Shinjiro slowly opened his eyes to see a white ceiling staring back at him. It took him a few seconds to register what was happening.
"Oh...right. I got shot," Shinjiro thought. He felt something heavy on his right side and shifted his head over to the source. There he saw Ayano currently sleeping on his leg, obviously having waited for him to wake up.
Shinjiro sighed and leaned his head back onto his pillow before stifling a laugh.
"Oh, Midoriya. I think I know how you feel now," He weakly raised his left hand to his head, essentially facepalming in the process. "Is this karma for not getting injured during the USJ attack? Well, it is a bitch"
He weakly chuckled while cycling through his thoughts. He thought his laughing would be quiet but clearly not when he felt movement on his right leg. Ayano slowly stirred awake from her slumber.
"Sorry...did I wake you?" He weakly asked, a hoarse voice coming out from him. His body felt drained from the amount of blood he had lost earlier but he felt his ability to talk was coming back.
Ayano nodded in response while giving her eye a rub.
"Eh?" When she had her eyes fully open now she noticed that Shinjiro was finally awake. Tears slowly started to form in her eyes. "S- Shinjiro!"
She fully leaped at him like a childhood friend you haven't seen in ten years and hugged him.
"I- I thought you...you..." She cried. Shinjiro slowly patted her head in response.
"Is this how fast character development is? Or is this tsundere side fully broken?" Oh come on, now's not the time to think about that.
"I- I'm fine Ayano," He said, still slowly caressing her head. Suddenly, the door to their room opened and in walked-
"Mom?" Ayano said.
"Sorry we couldn't come earlier sweetie," Rikona smiled. It was pretty clear on why she couldn't come sooner, she was still in her hero costume with specks of dust and dirt splattered all around.
"So... nice first date huh?" Daichi's head popped in with a grin.
"Ugh, go away Daichi," Ayano groaned.
"Now, now, let's play nice," Rikona instructed. "After all, when I heard your friend was in the hospital, I had to finish the cleaning fast."
"Your mom huh?" Shinjiro asked.
"Yea..."
"And you must be Shinjiro," Rikona walked over to him. "Thank you for taking care of my daughter"
"I didn't do anything. It was more of her protecting me," He responded.
Rikona chuckled. "I like your boyfriend already Ayano~"
"M- Mom!" Ayano yelled out in embarrassment. "A- Anyways...where's Hina?"
"Hm? I thought she-" She looked around to only see Daichi standing in the doorway. The young hero raised his eyebrow, having got his mom's signal and reached off-screen to pull a shy Hina through. She had her hoodie up and hands behind her, clearly somewhat uncomfortable.
"Come say hi sweetie," Rikona gestured.
Hina stayed where she was but lifted one of her hands to shyly wave. "H- Hi..."
Shinjiro smiled, he wanted to wave but his hand decided it was time to pass out.
"Oh my, it really is a party in here," Came another voice from a certain somebody. He trotted in along with an accompanying doctor.
"Nezu?" Shinjiro asked before the rodent jumped up onto his bed.
"Yes! It is I!" Nezu raised his paw. The others in the room were pretty shocked by the principal's appearance.
"Principal Nezu? What are you doing here?" Rikona asked.
"Long time no see, Queen Construction," He greeted. "It seems my boy has caused a little trouble here"
"Oh, oh nonono. He hasn't been...wait, your boy?"
"Yes! Haven't I told you? He's my son!"
"Wait...your dad is the principal?!" Ayano shouted at Shinjiro in shock.
"The hell? I thought I told you it," But he did not.
"Aha! So you do admit I'm your dad," Nezu shot a finger at him, causing Shinjiro to groan. They were about to continue to banter until the doctor cleared his throat, getting the attention of everyone.
"Fortunately, none of your vital organs were hit. Plus, since the site was cleared from infection, you should make a full recovery within a couple of days," He stated. "However, I do recommend you see Recovery Girl before and after your heroics lesson in case there are any complications"
"That means he can go now right?" Ayano asked.
"I recommend that he stay the night in case the wound opens up or there are any more problems then we would be able to act properly," He said. Everyone sighed in relief before gathering around Shinjiro to ask him questions, mainly Daichi and Rikona.
"Thank you very much doctor," Nezu thanked, before gesturing him closer. "You made sure to take all the tests right?" The rodent whispered.
"Of course we have, unfortunately, we won't get the lab results until tomorrow"
"Do you think they'll still be the same?"
"From what we've seen from the first time? Most likely"
"Alright then, inform me of the results in the morning"
"Will do sir," With that, the doctor bowed and made his way out of the room.
Nezu turned his head back to see Shinjiro getting teased by the two trouble makers while Ayano was blushing red. The mouse smiled, knowing that this way was definitely a good outcome for the boy.
Although amidst all the teasing and embarrassment, Shinjiro was thinking about a couple of things.
"What happened to that gang leader? But more importantly...how am I going to tell Midoriya that this happened to me? This is so embarrassing…."
But yea...whatever happened to that gang leader guy?
"I...can't believe we got beat by a girl," A man complained, leaning up against a wall in an alleyway.
"To be fair, she did have a powerful quirk. Did you see how she threw us around like rag dolls?" The other man said, holding an ice pack to his head. "Oi, bro. Why do you think she let us escape?"
But the leader was silent.
"Bro?"
"I'm going to kill her….I'm going to kill him too..." He repeated like a broken down record. He scratched his unkempt hair and cheeks like a mad man, pure anger seeping out of him.
Great, more people wanting revenge.
"If revenge is what you seek..." A voice tore through the alleyway, a stylish white coat fluttered through the cool Musutafu air. "...then maybe I can help you"
Congrats you made it to the end! Nothing much to say down here but wow, can you believe this has more words than the USJ arc lmaooooo.
