Yo we're back again. Part of me didn't know how to write this chapter and get it out earlier lol. Spent like a good two days on the last two scenes because I didn't know how to stretch and pull it out so it's a slightly shorter chapter for today. Hope you all enjoy!
Oh wow, we're…still in the infirmary.
Shinjiro had just finished his ted talk to Midoriya about his theory on how Bakugo's bullying came about. He explained every little detail to the boy and he got more visibly distressed as Shinjiro kept talking. Even Recovery Girl who was listening in silently sighed to herself.
"And that's…pretty much it," Shinjiro finished.
It's a bit anti-climatic isn't it? All this information being said after the massive fight between Shinjiro and the childhood bully.
"So…he thinks that…I am looking down on him?" Midoriya squeaked, the boy trying not to choke on his own words.
"Well, seeing as how you are I think someone–especially Bakugo– would take that as you looking down on them," Shinjiro said.
"B- But, I- I was just trying to help him! I- I wasn't looking down on him! I-"
"I know, Midoriya," Shinjiro held up his hand to stop the boy. "It's really not your fault. It's his."
The venom in his voice was pure acidic. Anger seeping out him and his bloodlust felt for years on end.
"Shinjiro-san…" Midoriya flinched as he felt something he's never felt from Shinjiro before.
It all stopped when Shinjiro closed his eyes and sighed. He brought his hand up to his hand and brushed his hair back.
"Sorry…I'm getting too worked up. What's done is done after all"
"It must be nice huh?" Recovery Girl spoke up. "Having a friend like him."
Thank you for your service miss hero.
"Yea." "Yup."
The two looked at each other before smiling. Midoriya breaking out his whole smile while Shinjiro smirked.
"Oh right…" Shinjiro suddenly recalled. "You might want to stay away from Bakugo for a while. He's going to want to beat my ass the moment I walk out of here."
Midoriya chuckled. "The tense atmosphere is completely gone now huh?"
"Don't worry," Shinjiro said. "As much as I want to, I have to keep your promise. I won't tell anyone…not now. If things really get out of hand then…"
"I understand," Midoriya said before bowing. "Thank you. At least I know what Kacchan's thinking and how to help him."
"Seriously, still thinking of helping him?" Shinjiro said, confused. He then sighed. "Of course, you would. You're Midoriya."
"Ehe…" Midoriya rubbed the back of his head.
"I have to admit. You're taking this surprisingly well after all I've said," Shinjiro folded his arms.
"Well…I've been trying to understand Kacchan for a long time now. Why he's tormenting me, what did I do to deserve that kind of treatment," Midoriya said. "But now that I know the true reason…that makes it kind of easier to understand and help him."
Shinjiro nodded.
"Todoroki has managed to beat Iida in a pretty icey round! Looks like we know who's the first to be in the finals! Strap up folks cause we got another fight coming right your way!" Mic's voice blared through the stadium.
Also, wow, we're really skipping out on Todoroki's and Iida's fight? That's about as lazy as this entire story.
"Oh yea, I should probably bring up," Shinjiro turned his head to Midoriya. "You've been getting stronger haven't you?"
"Eh? What do you mean?"
"When you were fighting Todoroki. You…didn't realize didn't you?" Shinjiro glared at him suspiciously.
"Realise what? All I was doing was trying to talk to him," Midoriya explained.
Shinjiro nodded as if he understood. "I see then."
"He was probably so caught up with Todoroki's issues he didn't feel anything that he was doing," He mentally sighed. "This kid…"
"You should get going," Shinjiro said. "Probably meet your friends who think you've been in surgery this entire time"
"R- Right. I should do that huh?" Midoriya sheepishly said.
"I mean for all you know, they could be worried that you could have possibly passed away peacefully in your slee-"
"Alright! I'm going, I'm going!" Midoriya said after enough annoyance from Shinjiro. He promptly made his way to the door, not before bowing to Recovery Girl, and walked out.
Shinjiro grinned and waved as he walked out.
"You didn't have to force him out you know," Recovery Girl said after the boy had left.
"I know…but it's for his own good," Shinjiro pulled out his phone from his pocket.
"Maybe…but sometimes that isn't always the case," The medic hero pointed out.
Shinjiro shifted his eyes to her, as if he were contemplating, before looking back at his phone.
Midoriya slowly made his way back to his classmates, who were eagerly waiting for the next fight to come up.
"Deku!" Uraraka shouted after spotting the boy.
Midoriya waved at her before making his way over.
"Midoriya-chan, looks like the surgery went well," Tsu said.
"Yea, Recovery Girl healed me enough to walk," He replied.
"Shouldn't you be resting right now?" She asked, worryingly.
"Yea…but I want to see everyone do their best in this," He said before looking around him. "Speaking of which, where's Iida?"
Uraraka shook her head. "He had to leave early…I think something happened"
"He did?" Midoriya noticed her tone of voice and felt something stirring in his gut. "I'll need to call him later"
"Yea…I don't know any details though. He left in such a hurry," The girl said.
"I- I see…"
"How was Shinjiro-chan kero?" Tsu asked from behind.
"Oh… he's fine," Midoriya turned his head to look at the frog girl. "It was nothing much"
"Really? But with all that he took from Bakugo, it must have left him with a lot of injuries," Kirishima chimed in.
"Apparently he was already sitting up when I went to see him," Midoriya said.
"Damn, he must be real strong if he could withstand that."
"It's time for the final match of the semi-finals! The winner of this will be fighting Todoroki in the finals! Are you ready?!"
The crowd riled up in anticipation.
"We got the kid with a temper, Katsuki Bakugo!"
"Huh?! What'd you say to me?!" Bakugo shouted at the announcer box.
"Eek!" Mic shrieked. "A- And next up is the prince of darkness, Tokoyami!"
"I hope Shinjiro's watching this," Dark Shadow said coming out of Tokoyami's back.
"What's with your infatuation with him?" The bird boy asked.
"Man's a badass, that's all I can say," The quirk replied.
"All right! Go for broke!"
The two got into their fighting stances.
"Fighto!"
"Shinjiro," Recovery Girl's voice cut through the air.
"Hm?" Shinjiro lifted his head from his phone to see the medic about to leave the room.
"I'm heading to the toilet for a while. Don't do anything stupid," She said.
"Why would I do anything stupid? I'm in a bed," He asked.
"You know you will," She simply said before making her way out of the room.
Shinjiro leaned back in his bed and scoffed. "Yea, as if I'm doing anything stupid…yea I totally am"
He removed the blankets from his feet before swinging them around and got ready to stand up. That was until the door to the infirmary swung open.
"Shit…" He looked down.
"Look, I am totally not about to get up and leave the room so-" He was cut off mid-sentence when he lifted his head and saw who was actually walking into the room. "Oh, Kendo."
There she was, standing in the frame of the door with her arms crossed. "Shinjiroooo."
"Um…I'm sorry?" He held his arms up in surrender.
"I got him!" Flying hands flew from behind Kendo's back and grabbed onto his hand before pinning him onto the bed.
"Oof!" Shinjiro hit the bed hard. "Oh, and Setsuna's here too"
Kendo sighed." She insisted"
Setsuna walked into the room giggling to herself.
"I hate you sometimes," Shinjiro shook his head.
"And that's why you love me~" She cheekily smiled, her toothy grin gleaming with exctiement.
"Since when did you get so bold?" He asked.
"Hmmm…I can get bolder~" She grinned.
Then to nobody's surprise at all, she got up on his bed and…wait…mounted him? Isn't this going a little too fast? It's just lazy writing? Oh, okay.
"S- Setsuna!" Kendo blushed hard before covering her eyes from the sight.
"Are you enjoying this?~" She asked seductively.
"Well…aside from me resisting from…and the fact that we just met today: I'd say…probably," Shinjiro kinda spitting facts.
"Hahaha! You're a pretty funny guy y'know!" She laughed.
"Great, glad to see you're enjoying your time on me. Now could you kindly get off before my lower body's blood circulation is cut off?" Shinjiro kindly asked.
"Oho? Are you saying I'm heavy? That's it, I'm staying right here," Setsuna pouted and crossed her arms, well whatever was left of her arms anyways.
"Alright, Setsuna. That's enough," A new voice interrupted.
"Hm? That's…" Shinjiro tried to lift his head to see the newcomer. It couldn't be Kendo since she was still embarrassed out of her mind.
"Oh?" Setsuna turned her head towards the voice. "Mahiru? What are you doing here?"
Here comes the appearance of the girl we have not seen in so long. Okay, maybe not that long.
Her long purple hair still shined as if she was undergoing a Sailer Moon transformation. She had her arms crossed together, looking rather unimpressed at the sight.
"What'd I tell you about doing such shameless acts?" Even the way of her speaking radiated elegance.
"Uhh, that I'd still do them anyway?" Setsuna nervously grinned.
"Jeez, can you at least act like a student who was specially recognized?" The moon girl sighed.
"So this is your class?" Another voice interjected before walking into the infirmary.
"I'm sorry you have to witness this Ayano-senpai," Mahiru bowed.
"Ayano?" Shinjiro's eyes slightly widened as he looked at his "sister" enter the room.
After entering the room and seeing the state of which Shinjiro was in, Ayano put her hands on her hips in a disapproving manner.
"Hmph, I can't believe you forgot about me."
"What are you doing here?"
"Because I watched your match. You got badly injured so I decided to drop by and met Mahiru in the hallway. I wanted to see you again but it seems like you decided to move on," Ayano pouted.
"Great…here comes the misunderstandings," Shinjiro facepalmed, or tried to, his hands are still stuck to the bed.
"Kendo, snap out of it," Mahiru forcefully pulled Kendo's hands away from her face. Her blush still growing pretty strong.
"D- Don't tell me you're not embarrassed by this?" She uttered.
Mahiru in return sighed. "I am but this is Setsuna we're talking about. You know how cheeky she is"
"Hehe, that's right," Setsuna said.
"All right, that's enough of you," Mahiru said before she and Kendo pulled Setsuna off Shinjiro and started to drag her out of the room.
"Nooooooo!" She yelled in a desperate attempt to escape.
"I still can't believe you're injured again," Ayano said walking up to him.
"Yea, I can't believe it either," Shinjiro said back.
"Wait…again?" Kendo asked after clocking what Ayano just said.
"Oh…right," Shinjiro nervously sweatdropped.
Mahiru merely raised an eyelid at the mention while Setsuna had stopped flailing and turned her head to the boy.
"Soooo…I may or may not have been shot by a magic arrow and nearly died," He stated.
"WHAT?!" Kendo and Setsuna shouted.
Shinjiro's head was met with a quick slap by Ayano.
"Mou, don't make it sound like it was that bad," She lectured before turning to the two concerned girls. "Luckily, the arrow didn't hit any vital organs so he didn't stay in the hospital for very long. As you can see he is totally fine."
The two relaxed a little knowing that nothing serious actually happened.
"Didn't you totally cry your eyes out cause you thought I was going to die- AGK!" Shinjiro was telekinetically shoved into the bed. Now was the moment where he thought he was going to die.
"Shut it you," Ayano's eyes flashed as Shinjiro swore he could see the gates of Hell awaiting him.
"H- Hai…" Shinjiro's voice was muffled after a pillow was thrown onto his face.
"Seriously…you worry us too much," Kendo said, letting out a sigh of relief.
"J- Jeez, you even got me worked up," Setsuna rubbed the back of her head.
Mahiru sighed. "This is the guy you both have been talking about? Sounds like a real troublemaker."
"Oh, only if you remembered," Shinjiro thought.
"W- Well, he isn't just a troublemaker," Kendo tried to counter. "He's…um…"
"Stupidly special?" Ayano said.
"Yea!"
"Hey…there's more to me than just that…" Shinjiro pouted…kinda.
"ORA!" Bakugo cried as he let off another explosion in front of Dark Shadow's face.
"Ow!" The quirk cried out in pain as Tokoyami leaped back.
"Dammit! We're getting closer to the edge," The boy said. "Dark Shadow- !"
"OOORRRAA!" Bakugo used his explosions to carry him up in the air as he rained down a barrage of explosions.
Dark Shadow instinctively shield Tokoyami but was having trouble handling the explosions.
"Push him off!" Tokoyami ordered as his quirk gathered enough energy to push Bakugo backwards.
He backflipped and swiftly landed on his feet. His hands were primed to explode once again and his anger overspilling.
"Not yet!" He thought to himself. His mind drifted to a certain boy who totally didn't piss him off last chapter. "DAMN YOU!"
He dashed forward and jumped, trying to lead Dark Shadow closer to him. The quirk did exactly as he expected and set off another explosion in the quirk's face.
"Hurry! Grab him!" Tokoyami yelled as Dark Shadow brushed off the attack to try and grab Bakugo.
Unfortunately, the boy was even faster and boosted himself up and around. He eventually landed right behind Tokoyami as Dark Shadow flew to face Bakugo.
The boy turned around and held up his arms in front of him.
"Stun Grenade!" He shouted as he let off an explosion that blinded everyone once again.
"Oh boy, there's more smoke again," Mic said. "I swear the ozone layer's going to be even more destroyed with the amount of smoke here."
Luckily, it didn't take long for the smoke to dissipate and what was seen got people cheering. Bakugo stood triumphant over Tokoyami, his beak being grabbed the angry boy and his quirk hiding behind him as it comically cried.
"Nngh…Dark Shadow's weakness, you figured it out?" Tokoyami grunted.
"After a couple of attacks I figured it out," Bakugo grinned menacingly as he held up a torch of explosions to keep Dark Shadow from attacking. "You were at a disadvantage the entire time. I almost feel sorry for you."
"...I give in," Tokoyami conceded, having no way to escape.
"Tokoyami yields! Bakugo advances to the finals!" Midnight cracked her whip and signalled the end of the match.
"It's all over! Bakugo will be fighting Todoroki in the final match!" Mic shouted.
The sounds of the crowd cheering was muffled by Bakugo's thoughts. He was…somewhat happy? For getting into the finals, however, Shinjiro was still on his mind.
"Time to pay a visit to that little shit," His fists tighened in his palm as he walked off.
Up in the stands, Todoroki watched as Bakugo stormed off. The boy noticed something odd with Bakugo's antics, so as all people who are suspicious of others, he decided to follow him.
How, you may ask? The power of plot and the fact that Bakugo stomps literally all the time so you can hear his footsteps from miles away.
"How many times am I going to get lectured?" Shinjiro's eye twitched as he had to sit through another lecture about staying safe and not hurting himself.
It was even worse this time since it wasn't just Kendo ranting, but even Ayano and Mahiru joined in on the act.
"Of course, Mahiru had to join…" He sweatdropped. "She loves to lecture everyone about not being prim and proper. I guess that's what you get when you're born rich and being taught how to be a princess. At least, I hope she's not a princess. If not then I'd be doomed for the rest of my life!"
"Oi!" A hand slapped him on the forehead. "Are you even listening?"
"Yes, yes I am Kendo. You don't need to slap me that hard!" He complained.
"And yet, you still manage to go out there and hurt yourself," Ayano crossed her arms.
"All right, all right! I get it! I won't hurt myself or do anything reckless anymore unless the situation calls for it!" Shinjiro shouted before hanging his head, slightly fed up with all the constant lectures.
"Now, now, I think we all should calm down," Setsuna said, trying to defuse the situation.
"You don't get to talk, you started this mess," Mahiru shot her a glance causing the lizard girl to step back.
*Ding*
Aand now Setsuna's kneeling on the floor getting chastised by the two lecturers.
She turned to Shinjiro and mouthed 'help me' but he shook his head as if she were a lost cause. She comically turned black and white, she's gonna go Vader on his ass later.
The door slid open once again. This time the medic has returned from her bathroom break.
"I think you all should leave now," She said kindly. "There is still much of the competition left and I don't think you all should be wasting it here. Shinjiro can come see you all later."
The girls nodded before shuffling away after saying their goodbyes. Shinjiro tuned out as they walked out of the door but he was pretty sure they said they'd talk more when he sees them again.
After they all left, he let out a heavy sigh.
"Thanks Recovery Girl. I owe you one," He thanked.
"Don't thank me. I'm just doing my job and letting my patients rest," She shrugged him off.
Shinjiro watched her go back to whatever she was doing before turning on his phone again. He flipped to the article he was on before getting interrupted by the girls. He skimmed through it, looking at all the pictures taken on the article but nothing stood out to him.
I wonder what could he be looking for?
Too bad he couldn't get five minutes of peace time before-
"I need to go to the bathroom now," He looked up at Recovery Girl.
The medic sighed. "Luckily, I healed you enough so that you can walk so go on then. However, make sure to come back here after you're done. I don't want you running off to whatever you're going to do"
"Yes ma'am," He said before getting out of his bed and walking out the room to find the toilet.
After a little time skip of a chibi version of him relieving himself, he found himself right in the halls walking back to the infirmary.
Too bad he's being a millennial and being on his phone so there's nothing interesting to talk about.
"Hey, we can't have action on action every second can we?"
Or can we?
"Oi! Dipshit!" Oh hell yeah we can.
"I hate my life," Shinjiro sighed.
Guess who stormed towards him and grabbed his shirt collar, that's right, Bakugo.
"What the fuck do you know?!" Bakugo shouted in his face, spit getting everywhere.
"Pfft, okay okay first off, personal space," Shinjiro grabbed his arm and pushed him off.
"Shut up! During our fight, why didn't you try?! What's with that stupid speech huh?!" Bakugo demanded.
Oh great, we're ruining last chapter's entire encounter with this one. Or are we?
"Heh…so, you get the fight you're looking for?" Shinjiro scoffed.
"Why you-" Bakugo cocked his fist back.
"I'd recommend you don't do that," Shinjiro said before his eyes shifted elsewhere.
Bakugo noticed his eyes shift before turning his head to see what he was looking at.
"The hell you doing here Icyhot?" Bakugo's eyes narrowed at the sight of Todoroki clearly not hiding in plain sight.
"I figured something was up," The boy said, his posture unwavering.
"You can let go now," Shinjiro said before Bakugo reluctantly let him go.
"Ahem, thank you. Now if you'd excuse me-"
"What were you talking about earlier?" Todoroki asked as Shinjiro was about to walk off.
Shinjiro stopped in his tracks.
"Of course, you'd want to know as well," Shinjiro sighed, turning back to face the two.
"So? Spit it out already!" Bakugo was getting impatient. "Who are you really? Why do you know so much about me and that nerd?"
Todoroki's eyes narrowed, it seems that Bakugo doesn't care about others listening in.
"Ah, I already told you didn't I?" Shinjiro ruffled his hair in anger. "You should be able to figure it out on your own. I gave you all the hints…it's only a matter of time."
"There's that fucking vagueness again," Bakugo spat. "What are you some kind of magician?"
Shinjiro huffed before looking around as if he were in a daze. He then faced Bakugo.
"Very few people know about the creek incident…Kacchan."
This seemed to hit Bakugo, causing him to dive into his memories to remember. His eyes widened when he finally understood. He then broke into a grin, Shinjiro's face reflecting off his shiny teeth.
"So you're one of them. Which one were you again? It doesn't matter," He said. "You should be a good little lapdog and-"
"Not one of your stupid lackeys," Shinjiro cut him off. "I was there. You just don't remember it. So think!"
"What is there to think?!" Bakugo yelled.
"If anyone else could remember it's you!"
"All I remember is stupid Deku and that's it! What more do you want?!"
Shinjiro pushed his hair back. "Bloody hell, you're an idiot."
"What?! You little-" Bakugo was about pounce when the hallway started to get colder. The two looked right at the third wheel, who was radiating so much cold air.
"Enough." Todoroki's eyes snapped shut and in an instance the hallway turned back into its normal temperature. "I don't know what happened between you two but now's not the time for that."
"Huh?!" Bakugo turned his attention to the hot and cold boy now. "Says the person who was eavesdropping on us!"
"I just wanted to know why you were distracted," Todoroki simply stated.
"Huh?"
"After the battle, your mind drifted somewhere else. To him," He looked at Shinjiro. "So it's clear to me that something's going on between the two of you. Ever since your fight."
"God, is everyone in this class smart as hell?" Shinjiro spoke up, clearly annoyed. "I get it, you wanted to check out your opponent before your fight but don't lump me in with him."
"Tch! As if I wanted to be involved with you!" Bakugo spat back.
"I'm already involved with you, we have a mutual…'friend'," Shinjiro said.
"That nerd? As if he's a friend!"
"As I thought, you really are too far gone."
"What the hell does that mean?!"
"Midoriya," Todoroki said, earning the other two's attention. "I see now. You're both associated with him so that's why…"
His voice drifted off as he was deep in thought. He quickly snapped out of it though before lifting his head.
"Thank you for enlightening me," He said before turning around and walking off.
"Oi, where do you think you're going half-and-half?!" Bakugo shouted.
Todoroki obviously didn't say anything as he turned a corner and left.
"You. I'm not done with you," Bakugo pointed at Shinjiro before running off to fight- I mean find Todoroki. "Dammit Icyhot! I swear I'm going to blow you out of the sky!"
"As I thought…nothing. Seems I couldn't trigger anything in him," Shinjiro sighed. "Seems he didn't learn anything from our fight either. Seems he's too hotheaded for the words to be drilled into his head."
"Dammit!" Shinjiro burst out in anger once the two were out of sight.
"How strong is this stupid memory wiping quirk…" He muttered. "Fuck you Kazuya…if only I could find you myself…"
He was about to walk off to go back into the infirmary before something caused him to stop again.
"Wait. Did Bakugo say…blow out of the sky?" This triggered something in Shinjiro as he pulled out his phone and typed something we couldn't see.
A bunch of articles popped up and he started scrolling, his eyes scanning for any kind of weirdness hidden in the article headlines. It was then, after 3 full pages of news articles, that he stopped on one single article that caught his attention.
"Airliner explodes midair. Ten years have passed and causes still unknown" The article title read.
He tapped onto the link, having a feeling it would show him something. It brought him to the full article where more details were to be revealed.
Below the headlines was an attached video that upon clicking on it, showed an airplane spontaneously combusting mid-air. Shinjiro narrowed his eyes, before saving the article link on his phone.
"Seems you aren't all just talk Bakugo," The corner of his mouth perked up. He turned off his phone before walking off to the infirmary.
From the doorway to the bathroom, a certain purple haired girl had heard the entire conversation.
"Wait!" Bakugo ran towards Todoroki at full speed. "I said wait dammit!"
Todoroki abruptly stopped as Bakugo continued charging at him. The angry boy skidded to a halt before getting slightly annoyed that Todoroki was still not paying him any attention.
"Oi, where are you looking you two-tone!" His hands started to crackle. "Is this the kind of attitude you're giving your opponent?!"
Todoroki flinched at the remark, before turning around and eyeing Bakugo.
"You…"
Bakugo perked up.
"...sound a lot like Midoriya right now."
"Huh? What the hell does that mean?" Bakugo asked, getting pissed off.
"You're Midoriya's childhood friend aren't you? Has he always been that way?" Todoroki asked.
"Tch! What has that nerd got to do with this!" Bakugo spat. "If you want, you can go ask that faker."
"Shinjiro? Now that you mention it, he did seem pretty close with him," Todoroki put a hand to his chin.
"Getting off track are we?!" Bakugo slammed his fist into the wall, small explosions being set off. "Look, I don't care about you or those losers! I just want you to use that power on me too! You better use that fire!"
He then turned around and set off to his side of the arena.
"I'll make sure to give you to best beatdown of your life!" He shouted.
But Todoroki wasn't really thinking about Bakugo. More like he tuned out for half of it.
"Shinjiro…" He put on a confused face before turning around and walking to his side of the arena. "Why does that name sound familiar?"
Maybe because there are tons of other people named Shinjiro you-
Mahiru slowly walked back to her class's seating area, pondering to herself about the conversation she heard earlier.
Is this a lazy way to integrate her into the story? Absolutely.
"Mahiru!" Kendo called out to her. "What's wrong?"
"Oh Kendo," The girl snapped out of her thoughts before coming face to face with Kendo. "Sorry, I was just thinking."
Kendo tilted her head. "Think about what?"
Mahiru took a deep breath in. "About Shinjiro."
"What about him?"
"Let me ask you this. How much do you know about him?"
"Mahiru," Kendo's tone started to get serious. "Where are you going with this?"
"How much do you know about him?" She repeated, not wanting to let her chance slip.
"N- Not much. We're in different classes so we don't really have a chance to hang out," Kendo explained.
"But then why do you already seem so close to him?" Mahiru pressed. "You don't know everything about him. Plus, he's hiding things from you too. So why?"
"How do you-"
"I overheard him and Bakugo talking," Mahiru interrupted. "You didn't know they were childhood friends did you?"
"They are?" Kendo widened her eyes. "But they were antagonizing each other so much during the fight…"
"Something must have happened between them obviously. There was someone named Deku involved too," Mahiru.
"Deku…but wait!" Kendo snapped out of her thoughts. "You were eavesdropping on them that has to be-"
"They were practically shouting at each other in the hallway. Not only that but it was outside the bathrooms too. How could I not have overheard them," Mahiru deadpanned.
"O- Oh…but still that's a bad thing to do," The girl held up her finger and chastised Mahiru. "You should know better. After all you're the vice president."
"They were talking so loud too…" She sighed. "Guess it can't be helped."
"Well, make sure not to do it anymore okay? Now let's head back to our seats the final match is starting soon," Kendo said before turning around.
"Wait." Mahiru's voice stopped her. "There is…one more thing."
Kendo turned back to face her, her eyebrow raised.
"After Bakugo left… Shinjiro yelled at himself," Mahiru started.
"What do you mean?"
"He said something along the lines of 'memory wiping quirk'. Didn't quite catch the last bit though," Mahiru recalled.
"Memory wiping quirk?" Kendo frowned in confusion before remembering a conversation she had with Shinjiro during their first meeting.
Cut to that flashback.
"I can't tell you…it'd jeopardize everything I'm working for." Flashback Shinjiro's words rung in her head.
"Is the person after you really that dangerous?" Flashback Kendo asked.
"I don't know…that's what scares me."
Flashback has ended because I said so. Also how'd she figure out someone was after him?
"Kendo? Kendo?" Mahiru waved a hand in front of her. "You've been spacing out for quite a while now."
"Huh?" Kendo blinked. "Oh…sorry. I was just…thinking as well."
"About your answer?" Mahiru put her hands on her hips. "Because you still haven't answered me you know."
"Heh, you're so perceptive Mahiru," Kendo smiled. "But to answer your question…about why I trust him…hmmm. I guess it's because he has things to hide. It makes him show his emotions more and to know that he does care about people despite his…personality."
Mahiru narrowed her eyes. "You like weird people don't you?"
"Uh…no comment," Kendo sweatdropped.
Mahiru then huffed. "Alright, I'm sorry I brought this up. I was just suspicious after all."
"Don't worry about it Mahiru," Kendo reassured her. "It's completely fine to be suspicious of him. But try not to pry into his personal affairs anymore okay? I know with your upbringing it might a little difficult but it's okay. Come on, we got a fight to catch."
Kendo lifted her hand up, waiting for Mahiru to take it. As expected, she did and they were off to their seats. But the thoughts between them were crystal clear.
"Something's off with him."
Don't tell me they're both going to go on an investigation.
Wait, it's the end of the chapter? Why? Why do we have to stop at the fight? Why must you make me suffer?
You thought that was it for me? Oh nono.
I'm the captain now so yes. Anyways, hopefully, next chapter I can finish this mess of an arc and we'll finally get to Stain, believe when I say I've been waiting for this for over two years. Well, one year and a half since we're getting closer to the two-year anniversary for this book and I haven't done much shit yet so I gotta get writing again.
