I gasp as Jade kneels down on one leg in front of me, opening up a box to reveal a ring with a large green emerald. "I've always scoffed at fairy tales of everlasting happiness, but I now believe that it's possible when you're here with me."

Narrowing my eyes, I scrutinize the shiny grey ring as she takes it out of the box, presenting it to me. "Would you marry me, Vega? Please?"

I put my arms around hers, pulling her up from her position on the floor. "I love you, Jade. But I can't accept this ring." A choke escapes from her throat. "Why?! Vega? Why? Am I not good enough for you? Or are you seeing someone else behind my back, like how you always have to work overnight every twenty eight days?"

"No, Jade. I can't wait to marry you. But we've got to change this ring. I accept gold, platinum, or hell, even iron or steel. But I just… I don't like silver, ok? Don't ask me why, I really don't want to explain."

"You're cursing, Vega. It must be some serious reason."

I see the love of my life narrowing her eyes, a sly smile creeping on her face before she puts her arms around me, kissing me on my neck. Somehow, I just know that she won't stop until she finds out everything, no matter how hard I try to hide it from her.
