Fen and Rachel stood staring at Kyle and Summer, none of them knew what to say. Kyle saw the pain in Rachel's eyes, the tear that slipped out, tearing at his heart. Kyle took a step towards Rachel, but she turned and ran.

Kyle proceeded to follow her, but Fen put his hand against Kyle's chest, holding him back. "You're not going anywhere," Fen said.

"If you don't mind, my wife is upset and I need to go talk to her," Kyle said.

"Not yet," Fen said, "I'm not finished with you." Fen shoved Kyle backwards.

"No, please don't fight," Summer said.

"What did you just say to her?" Fen said, "Did you tell my fiancé that you're in love with her?"

"I just…" Kyle stammered.

"What are you trying to do?" Fen said, "Break us up? Is it that you don't want me to be happy or that you're trying to control Summer's life?"

"I tried to convince Summer to go back inside," Kyle said, "To get married."

"To me?" Fen said, "Or you?"

"Kyle, I would like to talk to Fen," Summer said, "Alone."

"I only…" Kyle started.

"Please?" Summer said.

Kyle sighed as he walked out of Society.

Fen paced back and forth, with Summer saying, "Fen, are you upset with me?"

"You know, you never responded," Fen said, "When Kyle said he loved you. Are you in love with him too?"

Summer's lips quivered, unsure of how to answer Fen. "Maybe you silence is my answer," Fen said.

"I know you heard Kyle throw around a lot of romantic notions towards me," Summer said, "I understand how that must have made you feel."

"Like a punch to my gut," Fen said, "How long has this been going on?"

"A few months now…" Summer said.

"Months?" Fen said, "If you wanted to be with Kyle, why weren't you honest with me? Why did you lead me on?"

"You didn't let me finish," Summer said, "For a few months Kyle has been telling me, he has feelings for me. I admit, he kissed me once at work. I resisted him and told him we couldn't be together. I reminded him more than once, I was marrying you."

"Then you changed your mind at the last minute," Fen said.

"When I was walking down the aisle," Summer began, "I saw Kyle and the way he was looking at me. My feelings for him bubbled up, and then I saw it in his eyes. His feelings for me are still there. When I was standing up there, I felt a pull towards him."

"So, you do want him and not me," Fen said.

Summer put her hands on Fen's cheeks saying, "I panicked today. You are the man I want to be with. I still want to marry you. We can go back in there and start our lives together. We have been best friends since we were babies. Our whole lives have been leading up to this day. I can't imagine the rest of my life without you in it."

"It sounds incredible," Fen said.

Taking his hand Summer said, "Let's go then."

Fen held back. "We can't get married," Fen said, "Not as long as you are in love with another man."

"I love you," Summer said.

"I know, I love you too," Fen said, "You have always been the love of my life. The thing is, I can't help feeling you only want to marry me, because Kyle is not available to be with you."

"I want to be with you," Summer said.

"Really?" Fen said, "Then why don't you prove it?"

"What do you mean?" Summer said.

"If Rachel and I had not interrupted you," Fen started, "And Kyle tells you he's in love with you. What you would have said to him?"

"It doesn't matter now," Summer said.

"It matters more than you think," Fen said, his tone turning to anger, "Just be honest with me. Are you in love with Kyle Abbott?"

"Yes," Summer said, her hands covering her mouth as soon as she spoke the words. Her tears followed as Fen stared incredulously at her.

"You love him," Fen exhaled, "Wow, that hurts to hear, more than I thought."

"I never wanted to hurt you or disappoint you," Summer said, "I can't deny my feelings for Kyle anymore. I'm so sorry, Fen."

Fen nodded and said, "So am I. More than you know." He turned to walk away.

"Fen…" Summer cried, calling out to him, but he disappeared from sight. Summer broke down and sobbed.

"Tell me this isn't happening," Phyllis moaned.

"Maybe we should go out there and see what's going on?" Nick said.

"I think we should let them work it out," Lauren said.

"It seems there may not be a wedding today," Austin said.

"What about the reception?" Lola said, "I made all this food."

"Nothing is happening here," Adam said, "Perhaps it's time to go. Sharon, would you care to join me for a night cap?"

"Oh, thank you, but I've got Faith with me," Sharon said.

"Nick can see that she gets home," Adam said, "Just one drink, that's it. You're not going to make me drink alone, are you?"

Sharon hesitated, before she smiled. Turning to her daughter said, "Faith, could you go home with you Dad tonight?"

"You're leaving with him?" Faith said, incredulously, "Mom, what are you thinking?"

"Just a drink," Sharon said.

Faith stared in disbelief as Adam led Sharon away. Susie popped into the seat beside Faith. "Strange day," Susie said.

"Tell me about it," Faith said

"My Mom seemed really upset, when she left," Susie said, "I wonder what's going on?"

"Did you see the way Rachel ran out of here?" Chloe said, "She looked upset, maybe I should go and check on her."

"I saw Kyle leave too," Kevin said, "I'm sure they can take care of whatever the issue is."

"Should somebody say something?" Lauren said.

"It doesn't look like we are having a wedding," Michael said. Standing up he walked to the front of the room. "Folks, could I have your attention please," Michael said, "It seems the wedding will…" Michael stopped when he saw Fen, his hands stuffed in his pockets and eyes down as he walked down the aisle.

Once he reached the front, Michael said, "We were getting worried. Are you and Summer ready to continue?"

"Um…" Fen stammered. Turning to the guests, Fen said, "I want to apologize to everyone for the interruption and thank you for your patience." He paused before he said, "There isn't going to be a wedding today."

Phyllis grabbed Nick's hand, the shock in her eyes stared from Nick to Fen.

"Honey, are you alright?" Lauren said.

"Thank you all for coming," Fen said, "Lola has prepared a wonderful assortment of food, Summer and I invite you to stay and enjoy a meal and drinks on us. Again, I apologize for any inconvenience."

As Fen turned away from the crowed, Lauren rushed to her son. "What happened?" she said.

"We're not getting married," Fen said.

"Where is Summer?" Phyllis said.

"She's in the back," Fen said, "I think she needs you right now."

As Phyllis and Nick rushed to Summer's aide, Noah accused, "What have you done to my sister?"

Fen looked at Noah and said, "I loved her. Unfortunately, that wasn't enough."

"Fen, can you tell us what happened?" Michael said.

Fen shook his head. His voice was breaking, as he said, "I need to get out of here."

"We'll go with you," Lauren said.

"I'd rather be alone," Fen said. Rushing to the exit, he made a hasty retreat.

Sitting on the couch, with her knees pulled up, Rachel clutched a wad of tissues, as she cried. Her heart was aching, her stomach was nauseous, hearing Kyle's admission, he was in love with Summer. Rachel couldn't fathom, how she misjudged Kyle's devotion to her.

The sound of the front door, made Rachel's muscles tense. She kept her focus on her knees, dabbing away tears. Spying Kyle, out of the corner of her eye, she looked in his direction.

Kyle could tell Rachel had been crying. The knowledge that he had caused her pain, built up the guilt inside him.

Walking closer to Rachel, Kyle said, "I know you heard what I said to Summer and are probably very upset with me. I'm really sorry, Rachel."

"How could you…" Rachel started, "The past few weeks, were wonderful for us, Kyle. You were so devoted to me, flowers and dinners and the amazing nights we spent together. You were such a wonderful father to Diana. All the while you were in love with someone else. How do you do that?"

"If felt like we were getting back on track," Kyle said.

"It was all lies," Rachel said.

"Rachel, no," Kyle said, "How can you say that?"

"It has to be," Rachel said, "If you don't love me anymore, then you had to be pretending I was Summer. Especially when we were in bed together."

"Nothing could be further from the truth," Kyle said, "Our time together was always genuine."

"I would like to believe that," Rachel said, "But how can I believe anything you say anymore."

Straightening up and listening, Kyle said "Is Diana asleep?"

"I asked Traci to keep her for the night," Rachel said, "I feel too heartsick to look after her."

"I never meant to hurt you," Kyle said, "Please don't cry."

"You're breaking my heart," Rachel said, "What do you expect me to do?"

Sitting next to her, Kyle said, "I want you to understand something. My love for you was real and true. I will always love you and you will always have a place in my heart. I will be there for you whenever you need someone. Only, with Summer, we have this deep connection, that's always been there. I truly thought I had gotten over Summer, when I married you. When my feelings for her began to surface, I tried to push them away and devote myself to our marriage. I did everything I could, to be the best husband to you and honor our commitment, only to realize that Summer has always had my heart. I tried to deny it, but I can't do that anymore."

"The past few weeks, with you so attentive to me," Rachel said, "Do you know, you made me fall in love with you all over again? Then it turns out you're not the man I thought you were. All that time, you were trying to convince yourself you loved me."

"I do love you," Kyle said, "I thought I had buried my feelings for Summer."

"That is the most accurate thing you've said," Rachel said, "Summer has always been just below the surface of our marriage."

"I think you know we've been drifting apart for some time," Kyle said.

"So, where does that leave us?" Rachel said, "Have we drifted too far apart?"

"If you have to ask, I think you know we have," Kyle said.

"Do you think there's any way to fix this?" Rachel said, "Counseling? Maybe if we give our marriage an honest try we can salvage it."

"Except that you wouldn't have my whole heart," Kyle said, "If I stayed, it wouldn't be fair to you, to me, or Diana, she would pick up on the tension."

"What do we do now?" Rachel said.

"It's best if I get a room somewhere," Kyle said.

"That's silly," Rachel said, trying to control her tears, "Why don't you just stay up at the main house?"

"I can't deal with my family tonight. They would have too many questions," Kyle said, "I'm going to grab a few personal things."

Kyle stood up and disappeared for several minutes, before returning with a duffle bag. Setting it on the floor he said, "I never thought things would turn out this way."

"I never wanted it to," Rachel said.

"I want you to know, I'm not turning my back on our daughter," Kyle said, "I will be in Diana's life as much as I can. I promise to still be a good father to her. We can talk soon, to work everything out."

Rachel nodded, as Kyle picked up his duffle bag. "I should get going," he said.

He began to walk away, when Rachel called him back. "Kyle?" she said. Rachel rushed to hug him, her tears pouring out, as she held him tight. Kyle put his arms around her, closing his eyes in sorrow.

"I don't want you to go," Rachel whimpered.

"It's for the best," Kyle said.

"Please don't leave me," Rachel pleaded, her tears coming fast.

"Hey," Kyle said, "You're going to be okay. You are stronger than you think."

"Not without you," Rachel said.

"Everything is going to be fine," Kyle said.

"Despite all of this, I still love you," Rachel said.

"I love you," Kyle affirmed. He gave her a lingering kiss on the forehead. Reaching the door, he said, "We will talk soon."

"Kyle…." Rachel muttered, as he walked out of the house.

Once outside, Kyle stopped in the pathway, closing his eyes with a sigh. Pulling himself together he continued on his way.

With Kyle gone, Rachel collapsed onto the couch, in a flurry of tears. Grabbing a pillow, she hugged it in between her arms and sobbed.

Sinking onto the couch, the following morning, Phyllis said, "You look like I feel."

Nick handed her a coffee, saying, "I feel bad for our girl. The most wonderful day of her life, turned to major upset."

"She said she didn't love Fen enough," Phyllis said, "What does that mean?"

"I know what it means," Nick said, "It's all about Kyle Abbott."

"What about him?" Phyllis said.

"Who did she ask to be her best person?" Nick said, "Who ran after her at Society? I think Summer has unresolved feelings for Kyle and she couldn't in marry Fen, because of it."

"I wonder if she got any rest last night," Phyllis said, "She shut herself in her room and hasn't come out yet. Maybe, I should go check on her."

Nick signaled for Phyllis to be quiet, when he saw Summer emerge into the living room. Dressed in jeans and a half sleeved shirt, Summer's hair was loosely tied back.

"Good morning, sweetheart," Nick said.

"Morning," Summer muttered.

"How did you sleep?" Phyllis said.

"It's hard to sleep when you have been up all night crying," Summer said.

"Would you like some coffee?" Phyllis offered, "Maybe some breakfast would make you feel better."

"I don't want anything," Summer moaned, dropping to the couch, "I just want this whole mess to be a bad dream."

"Summer, talk to me," Phyllis said, "Tell us what's going on."

"I feel awful," Summer said.

"Why would you say that?" Nick said.

"I broke the heart of one of my dearest friends and now he will probably hate me forever," Summer said, "And I left things unresolved with Kyle, not that I would know what to say to him. Now, I've disappointed you guys…" Summer began to cry.

"No, we're not disappointed," Phyllis said.

"You were so excited about my wedding," Summer said.

"If you were not ready to marry Fen, then it's a good thing you didn't go through with it," Nick said.

"That's right," Phyllis said, "We support you no matter what."

"You bet we do," Nick said.

"Thank you for saying that," Summer said.

The sound of the door buzzer sent Nick to the front door. When he saw who was on the other side, Nick stared disapprovingly, as he said, "Kyle, what are you doing here?"

"I need to talk to Summer," Kyle said, "Is she here?"

"I think you've said enough to my daughter," Nick said.

"Dad, it's okay," Summer said, from the front hallway, "I'll talk to him."

Nick stepped aside to let Kyle in. Kyle was uncomfortably aware of the disapproving looks, on Nick and Phyllis's faces.

"I should get to the hotel," Phyllis said, "Nick I'm sure you have some things to take care of as well."

Glaring at Kyle, Nick said, "Not really."

"Dad, it's okay," Summer said, "Kyle and I need to talk alone."

Nick still hesitated, before he let Phyllis guide him towards the exit.

When Kyle heard the sound of the front door shut, he said, "If looks could kill…"

"I told them what happened between us at the wedding and why it made me walk away from Fen," Summer said.

"You walked away for good?" Kyle said, "I thought you might have worked things out and gone ahead with the wedding."

Summer took Kyle's hand and led him to the couch to sit with her. "Fen and I, did talk and he was upset. I tried to convince him to continue with the ceremony, but he made me see the truth."

"And what is that?" Kyle said.

"The man I'm in love with, is you," Summer said, "I know you said, you love me too, but considering life's circumstances, we have to find a way to curb our desire to be with each other."

"Summer…" Kyle tried to interject.

"You have a wife, a baby, that should be your focus," Summer said, "We have to realize, no matter how hard we try to deny it, you and I are not meant to be."

"Summer," Kyle said, "Rachel and I split up."

"You what?" Summer said.

"We had a talk and it was unpleasant," Kyle said, "I was honest with her about my feelings for you and deep down, we knew our marriage wasn't going to survive much longer. I left the house and got a hotel room for now."

"You left your family for me?" Summer said, "I don't want to be the reason, you broke up."

"I left because my heart is with you," Kyle said, "Yes, a part of me will always love Rachel and I am still committed to my daughter. It wouldn't be fair to anyone if I stayed with my wife for convenience sake."

"I can't imagine she took the news well," Summer said.

"Rachel was very upset and sad," Kyle said, "I feel bad that she got hurt so much in all of this."

"Are you sure it's over for you two?" Summer said, "There's no hope you and your wife can reconcile?"

Kyle shook his head. "Not after last night. It was the hardest conversation I ever had with her. The look in her eyes, just about broke me."

"I'm sure she just needs time to accept and move forward," Summer said.

"That's what I want," Kyle said, "To move forward with you. I'm really hoping you want the same thing."

"There's no doubt in my mind, that I want to be with you," Summer said, "It's just uncomfortable to think, yesterday I was going to marry another man. Now, I'm contemplating a future with you."

"There are no guarantees in life," Kyle said, "Except maybe our love. Are you ready to take that chance with me?"

Summer linked her hands, behind Kyle's neck and said, "Being here with you feels right. In your arms is the only place I've ever wanted to be." Leaning towards each other they shared a kiss.

Fen knocked loudly on Kyle and Rachel's front door. Greeted by silence, Fen pounded on the door yelling, "Abbott, you had better open this door!"

Hearing the sound of the lock, turning Fen waited, for Kyle to show himself. Instead, Rachel appeared in the doorway. "Fen, what are you doing?" she said.

"Where's Kyle?" Fen said, barging past her inside, "He and I have some unfinished business."

"He's not here," Rachel said.

"Or is he hiding from me?" Fen said, "He has good reason. He won't be happy when I'm finished with him."

"I don't know where my so called husband is," Rachel said.

It was then Fen noticed she had been crying. "Something's wrong," Fen said, "Are you okay?"

"I've had better days," Rachel said, "What are you doing here? Shouldn't you be on your honeymoon?"

"After yesterday?" Fen said, "I can't marry a woman who is love with another man."

"You mean Kyle," Rachel said.

"I apologize, I shouldn't have pushed past you like that," Fen said, "Summer and I broke up ."

"I'm sorry to hear that," Rachel said, "It seems to be contagious."

"What does that mean?" Fen said.

"Kyle professed his love for Summer and walked out on me," Rachel said, "Our marriage is over."

Hearing her voice break as she spoke, Fen said, "I'm so sorry." He gave her a comforting hug. "If you ask me, you're better off without him," he said.

"The weird thing is, I still love him," Rachel said, "If he walked in that door, I would take him back, if he asked me to."

"He would just end up breaking your heart again," Fen said.

"I don't think it could break anymore than it already has," Rachel said.

"He's a piece of work," Fen said, "Walking out on you and your daughter. Those two deserve each other."

"Why did you come over, pounding on my door?" Rachel said.

"I was going to punch Kyle's lights out," Fen said.

"Please don't fight with him," Rachel said, "I won't solve anything."

"Maybe you're right," Fen said.

"I wish, I could just erase yesterday," Rachel said, "Prevent it from ever happening."

"I almost married her," Fen said, "This heartbreak would still have come around, down the road. I can't believe it's over."

"Neither can I," Rachel said.

"Misery loves company," Fen said. Rachel half smiled at him. "You know," Fen said, "I think I have an idea, to help us get our lives back on track."

"Which is?" Rachel said.

"Our song," Fen said

"Oh, Fen I don't feel like singing now," Rachel said.

"I didn't mean this minute," Fen said, "But we are scheduled to record next week."

"I don't know if I can do this anymore," Rachel said.

"You signed a contract," Fen said, "Besides, we need this to keep busy."

"Maybe, you're right," Rachel sighed.

"I should get going," Fen said.

"You don't have to go," Rachel said, "To be honest, I would appreciate the company."

"Are you sure?" Fen said.

"Yeah, maybe we could bring Diana out by the pool and distract ourselves," Rachel said.

"I could go for that," Fen said. Seeing the sadness in her eyes he added, "I'm really sorry things didn't work out for you and Kyle."

"Well, maybe," Rachel said, "Maybe not."

"I'm not sure I understand that," Fen said.

"I am expecting Kyle will want to end our marriage legally," Rachel said.

"The sooner you get him out of your life the better," Fen sad.

"I disagree," Rachel said, "If Kyle thinks he has the right to walk out on me, he has another thing coming."

"Rachel, I don't think I like the sound of this," Fen said, "Let him go. Wash your hands of him."

"I'm not letting him go that easily," Rachel said, "If he chooses to dissolve our marriage, I can fight it."

"He's not worth it," Fen said, "Summer is out of my life, done. Don't make waves."

"I'm not just going to lie down and take this from him," Rachel said, "If Kyle wants to be with his precious Summer, he is going to do on my terms."
