"And you didn't see anyone, as you were coming in?" Detective Paul Williams said.
"No, we didn't notice anyone," Kyle said.
"Is anything missing?" Paul said, "Perhaps valuables were the target."
"We both had our phones with us and my laptop and briefcase were in my car," Kyle said.
"My jewelry has been tossed everywhere," Summer said, "I haven't found it all yet, to notice if any is missing. Oh yeah, she destroyed all my make-up products too."
"Oh, my gosh," Phyllis said, annoyance in her tone, as she arrived in the room, "What happened here? Summer, are you alright?"
"Yes, I'm fine," Summer said, "We weren't here, when it happened."
"What did happen?" Phyllis said.
"Someone trashed our room," Kyle said.
"I can see that," Phyllis said, "What I want to know is who?"
"That is what we are trying to determine," Paul said.
"Mom, look at this mess," Summer said, "She ruined all our clothes."
"That's the second time you've indicated you think this is a female," Paul said, "Do you suspect someone?"
"It was her alright," Summer said.
"We suspect, maybe it was her," Kyle said.
"Would you like to share this person's name?" Paul said.
"We thought it might be, my soon to be ex-wife," Kyle said.
"How lovely," Phyllis said.
"We recently separated and Rachel is not handling it well," Kyle said.
"You think she would do something like this?" Paul said
"I don't like to think so," Kyle said.
"The soon to be ex Mrs. Abbott has flipped out before," Phyllis said.
"She had some problems, but she worked her way back from that," Kyle said.
"My, defensive of your almost ex," Phyllis said.
"We are just throwing out ideas, no one is saying Rachel did this," Kyle said.
"Can you think of anyone else who might have targeted the two of you?" Paul said.
Kyle shook his head, but Summer said, "Well…"
"Did you think of someone?" Kyle said.
"I know you said, that the two of you buried the hatchet, but what about Austin?" Summer said.
"Travers?" Paul said.
"He might have a problem with us being together," Summer said, "Also he is dating Lola."
"Lola wouldn't do this," Kyle said.
"The woman kidnapped you and held you hostage!" Summer reminded, "Maybe she is not as reformed, as she wants everyone to think she is."
"Alright, I will talk to all of them," Paul said, "In the meantime, Phyllis I would like to take a look at your surveillance video."
"Absolutely," Phyllis said, "Anything to help catch this one."
"If you think of anyone else or discover something is missing, be sure to let me know," Paul said.
"Of course, thank you," Kyle said.
"I'll be in touch," Paul said.
"Wait," Kyle said, "There is one more thing, I'm not sure if it means anything."
"I'd appreciate any leads you may have," Paul said.
"There's this woman in town, her name is Evelyn Perkins," Kyle said, "The thing is she's the spitting image of my mother."
"Diane?" Phyllis said.
"My father was dating her, I'm not sure if he still is," Kyle said.
"Jack is," Phyllis confirmed, with distaste.
"I don't know what it is about her, but I get a strange vibe from her," Kyle said, "It's not just the resemblance."
"I will look into it," Paul said, "Maybe we can check the security footage now."
"I'm right behind you," Phyllis said. Pausing before she left, Phyllis continued, "I am going to get you another room to stay in. I don't imagine you would be comfortable sleeping in a crime scene."
"Thanks, but I was going to take Summer, for us to stay at the Abbott house," Kyle said.
"So, we can be right next door to the main suspect?" Summer said.
"We don't know for sure it was her," Kyle said, "Besides, there are too many people at the main house, for her to try anything. I won't let anything bad happen to you."
Rachel sat on the couch, in the Abbott living room, amused watching Diana's reaction, while Jack gently bounced her on his knee.
"She gets bigger every time I see her," Jack smiled.
"They grow up fast," Rachel said.
"I am sorry to hear about you and Kyle," Jack said, "But you will always be part of this family."
"Thank you," Rachel said.
Diana diverted their attention with an "Ah!"
Jack made a cooing sound and leaned in to Diana, as she watched her grandfather with fascination.
Jack laughed, looking up when the front door opened, as Kyle and Summer walked in.
Catching sight of each other, Kyle and Rachel shared an uneasy look.
"Well, hi you two," Jack said.
"Dad," Kyle acknowledged walking into the living room, "What's going on?"
"Rachel, brought my granddaughter for a visit," Jack said, "What brings you by?"
As Summer went to stand beside Kyle, he said, "We had an incident at our hotel."
"What kind of incident?" Jack said.
"Someone trashed our room," Kyle said, "Overturned furniture and ruined a lot of our belongings."
"Our clothes were torn to sherds," Summer said.
"That's horrible," Jack said, "Are you two alright?"
"Yes, we weren't there at the time," Kyle said, "Although it's unnerving to know someone was in that room with all that hostility. What if we had been there, when they broke in? I shudder to think, what if Diana had been there?"
"Who would do something like that?" Rachel said.
"Who indeed, Rachel," Summer said.
Rachel paused before she said, "You think it was me?"
"You certainly have the motive," Summer said.
Shifting her eyes to Kyle, Rachel said, "Is this what you think of me too?"
"I don't want to think it," Kyle said, "But…"
"But what?" Rachel said.
"Did you do it?" Kyle said.
"No," Rachel said, "As much as I hate this situation, I have better things to do than mess up your hotel room. Incase you have forgotten, I have a baby to look after."
"Not yesterday afternoon you didn't," Summer said, "The baby was with us. Ample time for you to carry out your plan."
"It wasn't me," Rachel firmly said.
"Well, you're going to have to tell that to the police," Summer said.
"Excuse me?" Rachel said, "You sent the police after me?"
"We were asked if we knew of anyone who could have done this," Kyle said, "We gave them some names."
"With mine at the top of the list," Rachel said.
"All you have to do is tell them, what you told us," Kyle said, "That you didn't do it."
"Are you this gullible?" Summer said, "Of course she's not going to admit it to us. She wants to stay in your good graces."
"I don't have to lie to Kyle, to stay on his good side," Rachel said, "That's you."
"How dare you," Summer said, "My relationship with Kyle, is not based on lies."
"No?" Rachel said, "So, you think it's okay to go after a married man?"
"Wouldn't you just love to hold on to that title," Summer said.
"Ladies!" Kyle said. Diana began to cry. Going to her, Kyle said, "Are you two happy? Your arguing has frightened her."
"Come here," Kyle said, taking Diana from Jack. Kyle walked around the living room, with her against his shoulder, rubbing her back and talking tenderly to her. The sight of Kyle, soothing his daughter, melted the hearts of Rachel and Summer. As Diana settled, Kyle sat on the couch with her dozing against his shoulder.
"Nothing more precious than a sleeping baby," Jack said, "Of course it helps that her father is so good with her."
"He is," Rachel said, "It's obvious how much she loves you."
"I love her more," Kyle smiled down at the baby. "By the way, Dad," Kyle said, "I was hoping Summer and I could stay here, instead of getting another hotel room."
"Of course," Jack said, "You don't even have to ask."
"Thanks," Kyle said. Looking at Rachel, Kyle said, "I would really like to talk to you about Diana. We need to make a more stable arrangement for her." Rachel nodded as Kyle said, "Can we talk tomorrow?"
"Okay," Rachel said, "You're right she should be our priority."
With Kyle sitting next to her, it took all of the self-control, Rachel could muster, not to throw her arms around him and hold Kyle close.
Noticing Rachel had tears in her eyes, Kyle said, "Are you okay?"
Pushing the sadness away, Rachel said, "I'm fine. I really should put Diana down."
"I'd like to do it, if that's okay," Kyle said.
"Of course you can," Rachel said.
Standing up slowly, so as not to wake Diana, Kyle looked at Summer. "Be right back," he said. Summer nodded at him with a smile.
"I have some work to attend to," Jack said, "Can I trust you two ladies alone?"
"Yes," Summer said. After Jack left the room, Summer continued, "You know, Kyle really wants to work things out for all of us."
"I should go relieve him, so he can get back to you," Rachel said.
"Rachel, maybe it would help if we talked," Summer said.
"The last thing I want to do, is talk to you," Rachel said, walking away.
Rachel arrived back at her house, to see Kyle, creeping out of the nursery.
"Is she asleep?" Rachel said.
"Out like a light," Kyle said.
"Well, you had better go," Rachel said, walking with her back to him, "Summer's waiting for you."
"I know I asked you this before," Kyle started, "But are you sure you're okay?"
"I'm fine," Rachel said, refusing to face him.
"You don't sound fine," Kyle said, "Come on Rachel, you can still talk to me."
Turning around she said, "I hate this. I hate that you're not here anymore. Then to see you with Summer, I know you've forgotten all about me and what we had together."
"That's not true," Kyle said, "Of course, I haven't forgotten you. I still care a lot about you." Rachel sighed as she looked away from him. "Tell me what I can do to make you feel better," Kyle said.
Unable to hold back any longer, Rachel reached out and hugged Kyle, as he reciprocated the embrace. "I miss you," she whimpered.
Closing his eyes in understanding, Kyle said, "Do you want me to stay awhile? Keep you company?"
Everything in Rachel wanted to scream, "Yes!", however she pulled away from the hug and said, "No, it's okay. I'm sorry, I shouldn't have done that."
"You and Diana can come up to the main house for the night," Kyle said, "Maybe that would help you feel better, knowing there's more people close by."
"I appreciate that," Rachel said, "But I am fine. You are close by and I don't want to disturb Diana, when she's down for the night. You need to go, someone is waiting for you."
"Just promise you will call if you need me," Kyle said. Rachel nodded with a mumble of agreement.
"I'll come by tomorrow, so we can have that talk," Kyle said.
"Okay," Rachel said. Kyle hesitated, so Rachel said, "Go."
Kyle gave Rachel half a smile as he headed out the door. Closing her eyes, Rachel sighed, "If you need me, he says. I will always need you Kyle."
Returning to the living room, Kyle sighed, sitting next to Summer. Rubbing the back of his neck he sat back against the couch.
"Something's wrong," Summer said, "Did you get into it with Rachel again? Because when she left here she just about took my head off."
"What did she say to you?" Kyle said.
"That's just it, not much," Summer said, "Except that she made it perfectly clear, she wants nothing to do with me."
Kyle slightly shook his head, and said, "She's not handling this well."
"Breakups with the one you love, are not easy to handle," Summer said.
"She told me, she misses me," Kyle said, "And then she started crying about it. So, I just…"
"Just what?" Summer said.
"I hugged her," Kyle said, "I didn't know what else to do. My heart went out to her."
"I know watching her go through this, must be hard for you," Summer said.
"I took this beautiful, vibrant woman and reduced her to a distraught, sad, mess," Kyle said, "And that's all on me."
"You're being too hard on yourself," Summer said.
"I appreciate your support, but I did this to her," Kyle said, "If I had stayed with her, she wouldn't be going through this right now." Kyle paused before continuing, "Then I would be sad, without you."
"That would make me sad too," Summer said, "But maybe you need to look at it another way."
"How's that?" Kyle said.
"What if Rachel wants you to feel this way?" Summer said.
"I'm not sure I understand that," Kyle said.
"She's playing on your sympathies," Summer said, "Every time she cries, you give her more of your attention. You are with her for longer periods of time. Which, from what you just told me, is what she wants."
"I know Rachel," Kyle said, "Her upset seems genuine to me."
"I'm not saying she's faking," Summer said, "But maybe you should not be, so willing, to be the one that comforts her."
"I will let her know, she needs to be more self-reliant," Kyle said, "Let's not talk about this anymore tonight."
Noticing Kyle rub one eye, Summer said, "You look tired."
"Worn out," Kyle said.
"We should head up to bed," Summer said.
"We can't," Kyle said.
"Why not?" Summer said.
"We haven't had a good-night kiss yet," Kyle said.
"You know, we can do that up…" Summer was cut off as Kyle pulled her into a kiss.
Jack opened the door early the next morning to find Paul on his doorstep.
"Chief Williams," Jack smiled, "Good morning."
"Good morning to you," Paul said.
Stepping aside, so Paul could enter, Jack said, "I'm surprised to see you here so early."
"I was told I could find Kyle and Summer here," Paul said, "I have an update on their case."
"They should be down shortly," Jack said, "Would you like some coffee?"
"No thank you," Paul said.
"Then I will make myself scarce, so you can talk," Jack said.
"Before you go, I have a couple of questions for you," Paul said.
"Is this official business?" Jack said, "I don't know anything about the case, except what Kyle has told me."
"Kyle mentioned a miss Evelyn Perkins to me," Paul said, "He said she had a strong resemblance to his mother, Diane."
"That's putting it mildly," Jack said, "Her and Diane could be twins. Why are you asking about her?"
"Her name came up as a possible suspect," Paul said.
"From what I know about Evelyn she would not be inclined to commit an act like attacking someone's hotel room," Jack said, "She barely knows Kyle and Summer. I can't think of any reason, she would have a grudge against them."
"Kyle felt there was something that bothered him about Miss Perkins," Paul said, "He told me you were dating her. Is that still the case?"
"I don't know how to answer that," Jack smiled, "The last time I saw Evelyn, she stormed out of here."
"I would like to speak with her," Paul said, "But I haven't been able to locate her. Do you have her contact information?"
"I have her phone number," Jack said, pulling out his phone, "Evelyn is new in town. I believe she told me she was staying at the Genoa City Athletic Club. She frequents Crimson Lights as well. That's where I met her."
"Thank you for the information," Paul said, "I will follow up."
"Chief Williams," Kyle said, descending the stairs with Summer in tow.
"Good morning," Paul said.
"Good morning," Kyle reciprocated, "Are you here about our case?"
"Did you arrest Rachel?" Summer said.
"I have not made any arrests, there is lack of proof," Paul said.
"What about the security footage?" Kyle said, "Did that identify anyone?"
"The footage showed someone entering your room, using a security pass," Paul said, "From the video, it is evident, the perpetrator is a woman."
"I knew it," Summer said.
"Was it Rachel?" Kyle said.
"The person in question, was dressed in all black, right down the gloves," Paul said, "She wore a hat and the brim was pulled down low, as if she knew she was on camera and was trying to conceal her identity."
"Did you see long brown hair?" Kyle said.
"If there was long hair, it was tucked up in the hat," Paul said, "Forensics is going over it to see if they can pick up any other identifying information."
"Did you talk to Rachel?" Summer said, "I'll bet she denied it."
"I spoke with Lola, she claimed to have no involvement," Paul said, "From the video we can rule out Austin Travers. I went by Rachel's house this morning and no one is home."
"Or she's avoiding you, by not answering the door," Summer said.
"Rachel should be home, she's expecting me to come by this morning," Kyle said.
"I tried calling, it just went to voicemail," Paul said.
"Come to think of it," Kyle said, checking his phone, "I sent her a text this morning that she hasn't responded to. Maybe she's just busy with the baby."
"If you speak to her, ask her to contact me," Paul said.
"I will do that," Kyle said, "I'm going over there now."
"Do you want me to come?" Summer said.
"I think it's best if I talk to her alone," Kyle said, "Just save me one of Mrs. Martinez's muffins."
"I can't promise anything, but I will try," Summer said. Kyle kissed her cheek before heading to the back exit.
"I'll be on my way as well," Paul said.
"Thank you for the update," Summer said.
"I'll be in touch," Paul said.
Paul opened the door, stopping in his tracks, by the sight of a visitor on the other side. Paul stared in awe at the vision of Diane Jenkins, before him.
Kyle knocked on the door of the house he had shared with Rachel, not comfortable just walking in. Not getting an answer he knocked a second time and called, "Rachel? It's me, Kyle."
Rachel still did not appear and checking the door, Kyle found it unlocked. Pushing it open, he heard the baby crying. "Rachel? Is everything okay?"
Rachel did not answer and as he stepped into the living room, he found her asleep on the couch. "Rachel?" Kyle said.
When she didn't respond he gently shook her shoulder. "Hey, Rachel, wake up." When she didn't stir, Kyle became concerned, rubbing the side of her face, he said, "Rachel? You need to wake up, the baby's crying."
She was still unresponsive, when Kyle noticed the almost empty liquor bottle and the overturned glass. Kyle sighed and tried to wake her one more time to no avail. Realizing Rachel was passed out cold, Kyle rushed to his daughter's aid. Sprinting up the steps, he called, "Daddy's coming!"
Rachel stirred, and attempting to open her eyes, she immediately closed them again, groaning in the discomfort of a hangover. After multiple efforts, her eyes were open, as she distantly heard the cries of her daughter. Pulling herself up to a sitting position, she winced and said, "Diana. Mommy's coming."
Rachel forced herself to her feet, the pain in her head pushing her back down again. Through the baby monitor, she noticed the baby was settling, then she heard another sound. A familiar voice was soothing Diana, talking to her gently. "Kyle? When did…" Rachel mused. Realizing Kyle was tending to the baby, Rachel rested her head in her hand, dozing out for several more minutes. The sound of Kyle descending the steps, pulled her back to reality.
"Oh, you're awake," Kyle sternly said.
"Kyle?" Rachel said, "When did you get here?
"I came over to talk, remember?" Kyle said, "Except when I got here you were passed out."
"Sorry, I…" Rachel said, before Kyle's anger cut her off.
"I come over here, my daughter is soaking wet, crying her heart out for her mom," Kyle said, "But her mother was passed out drunk! What's the matter with you?"
"Is she okay?" Rachel said.
"She is now," Kyle said, "I have no idea how long she was crying. She was frantic when I got to her."
"I didn't think…" Rachel stammered.
"That's right you didn't," Kyle said, "How could you drink, when you are alone with the baby? What went through you head, that you thought doing that was okay? When you are taking care of Diana, it is not about you, it's about tending to her needs, not wallowing in yours."
Rubbing her forehead, Rachel said, "Please, don't yell at me now."
"Because you have a hangover, does not mean we are not talking about this," Kyle said, "Do you have any idea, how dangerous this was? The front door was unlocked, anyone could have come in here and hurt you or worse Diana. Somebody could have taken her. Or what if she got sick in the night and you wouldn't have known anything about it, until it was too late."
"I took care of her," Rachel said, "I checked on her."
"Before or after you started drinking?" Kyle said.
"I'm sorry," Rachel said, "Last night everything hurt too much and I was just going to have one drink, but I got carried away."
"If you were that much pain, why didn't you call me?" Kyle said, "If you felt the need to drink yourself into oblivion, I could at least have had Diana up at the main house with me."
"It was bad judgement on my part," Rachel said, "It won't happen again."
"You're right about that," Kyle said.
"What does that mean?" Rachel said.
Sitting next to her, Kyle said, "Rachel, I have tried to reassure you. I know, I hurt you and I am sincerely sorry. I have done everything I can to try and comfort you. Still, you are not in a good place right now and you are continuing to spiral."
"I'm not…" Rachel tried to defend herself.
"I thought in time you would start to heal and take control of your life again," Kyle said, "But after last night, that clearly is not happening. That's why I think it's best, if Diana comes to live with me for awhile."
"What?" Rachel stared at Kyle in horror.
"Just until you are better equipped to take care of her," Kyle said.
"No, you're not taking my daughter away from me!" Rachel said.
"I'm not taking her away for good," Kyle said, "But if she's with me, you can focus on yourself. You need to pull yourself together and get to a place where you can move forward."
Rachel's tears came as she said, "You can't separate me from her. You're gone, she's all I have left."
"You have a lot of people that care about you," Kyle said, "Maybe you could get in touch with you former therapist and she could help you sort out what you are feeling."
"So, that's what you want," Rachel said, "Send me back to Fairview, so you can take my daughter from me. Next, you will be moving Summer in here, then you can play house together."
"Of course that's not what I want," Kyle said, "If not your therapist, there's Chloe and Kevin and heck, even Billy, they would all be willing to help you. My Dad and Traci are just next door too. I am willing to help you as well, but I don't want you to rely on me alone, to come to your rescue. You need to learn to rely on yourself more often. That is what's best for Diana. Isn't that our priority?"
"I'm a good mother," Rachel whimpered.
"Yes, you are," Kyle said, "A very good mother. Which is why it's important you heal. So, do you agree, that Diana stays with me?"
"When would I see her again?" Rachel said.
"Let's give it a few days and maybe then we can arrange a visit," Kyle said, "You know, I will take the very best care of Diana, that I possibly can. Okay?"
Rachel slowly nodded, the tears unstoppable. Reaching out Kyle stroked the side of her arm saying, "You will get through this. I am going to get some things together for Diana and then the baby and I will go."
Rachel let out a small moan, as Kyle got up from the couch and made his way upstairs.
"It can't be," Paul said, staring in disbelief.
"Paul, this is Evelyn Perkins," Jack said. Addressing Evelyn, Jack said, "Please come in."
"I can't believe it," Paul said.
"Evelyn, this is police Chief Paul Williams," Jack said.
Evelyn smiled and said, "It's nice to meet you."
"Yes, you as well," Paul said, "You will have to forgive me for staring. Jack told me about the resemblance, but this is uncanny."
"You were talking about me?" Evelyn said.
"I was hoping to ask you some questions, regarding a police matter," Paul said, "I knew you were a friend of Jack's, and I asked if he could help me get in touch with you."
"Am I in trouble with the law?" Evelyn said.
"Not at all," Paul said.
"Why don't we sit down?" Jack said, offering the living room, with his hand.
Jack and Evelyn took the couch while Paul sat in a chair close by. "Well officer," Evelyn said, "Or Chief…what should I call you?"
"Paul is fine," Paul said, "Jack tells me you are new in town. Have you found a place to stay?"
"I have a room at the GCAC," Evelyn said, "Do you know the club?"
"I'm very familiar with the establishment," Paul said, "There's a hotel called the Grand Phoenix, built within the last few years, very nice place to stay, if you wanted to consider a move."
"Yes, I heard of it, but as you say it's a nice place, a little too pricy for me," Evelyn said, "I'm comfortable at the club, for a fair cost."
"So, you've never been to the Grand Phoenix?" Paul said.
"I checked it out online, but decided it wasn't for me," Evelyn said, "Why do you keep asking me about it?"
"A couple had an unfortunate incident at the hotel," Paul said.
"You think I had something to do with this incident?" Evelyn said.
"The couple are my son and his girlfriend," Jack said.
"If you are talking about Kyle, I thought he was married," Evelyn said.
"They have separated," Jack said.
"I don't wonder, if he has a new girlfriend," Evelyn said.
"It's a long story that goes back many years," Jack said.
"I can assure you, I have not done anything against your son or whoever his girlfriend is," Evelyn said, "I'm insulted that you think I would."
"I would like you to confirm your whereabouts last evening," Paul said.
"This isn't fair," Evelyn said, "Jack, why would Kyle accuse me of wrong doing?"
"Paul has to check out all avenues pertaining to Kyle and Summer," Jack said, "It makes sense to talk to people who know them. Concerning who you remind Kyle of, you can't blame him for being curious about you."
"Could you please answer the question?" Paul said, "Where were you yesterday evening?"
Evelyn sighed, before she said, "I was at the club. I used the gym, took a shower and went downstairs for dinner. Afterwards, I went back to my room to read, before turning in. It was a romance novel, if you need all the details. I am sure, I am on security footage and you can check with the dining staff to confirm I was there."
"That's all I needed, thank you," Paul said, "Please don't be offended, I did not mean to upset you."
Calming her tone, Evelyn said, "I understand you are only doing your job."
"I am," Paul said, "I'll be on my way."
"Chief…Paul, you don't have to rush off," Evelyn said, "You've come all this way, perhaps we could all have a drink together."
"I appreciate the offer, but I have to be going," Paul said. "It was nice to meet you Evelyn."
"It was nice to see you too," Evelyn smiled, shaking Paul's hand.
Jack stood up, as Paul said, "Thank you for your time. I can show myself out."
After Paul closed the door, Evelyn said, "Well, I certainly didn't expect to be grilled by the police when I came over here. Jack, is Kyle alright?"
"Yes," Jack said, "Someone went through his hotel room, and destroyed some of his belongings."
"How awful," Evelyn said.
"Yes, it is upsetting," Jack said, sitting next to her. "I am curious, why you are here," Jack said, "I have not heard from you since last time you left."
"I need to apologize," Evelyn said, "I spoke to you harshly that day."
"I was wondering how you seemed to know you're way around the house," Jack said.
"It was pure coincidence that I found your bathroom," Evelyn said, "I don't have any other explanation."
"I believe you," Jack said.
"Thank you," Evelyn said, "The truth is, I've missed you and would very much like to continue getting to know you better."
"I was going to say the same thing," Jack smiled.
Rachel was pacing the living room, her hands clenched together, when Kyle descended the stairs with a packed bag and Diana in her carrier.
"I think I have everything she needs," Kyle said, "I'll come back if there's anything else."
"What about her blanket and her stuffed bear?" Rachel said.
"I've got them," Kyle said, "I know how much Diana loves that bear."
"You know, Kyle," Rachel began nervously, "I feel much better now. You don't have to take Diana, I can look after her."
"For how long?" Kyle said, "I think this will be good for both of you."
"I don't want you to take her away," Rachel said.
"Diana is coming with me," Kyle said.
"I said no!" Rachel yelled.
A knock was heard at the front door, as Billy opened the door. "What's going on in here?" Billy said, "I could hear you both outside."
"Billy," Rachel said, going to him, "Thank goodness you're here. You have to stop him. Kyle is trying to take Diana from me."
"That's not exactly what's going on here," Kyle said.
"Then what is going on here?" Billy said.
Looking at Rachel, Kyle said, "Do you want to own up to what you did, or do you want me to tell him?" Rachel fidgeted uneasily, so Kyle continued, "I came over, my daughter was crying her heart out, while her mother was passed out drunk. So, Diana is coming with me."
Spying the liquor bottle, Billy said, "Rachel, is this true?"
"It was just one time," Rachel panicked, "I won't do it again!"
"Maybe it's best it Diana, spends a little time with Kyle," Billy said.
"He doesn't have the right to take her!" Rachel said.
"I'm her father, I have every right to remove my daughter from an unfit situation," Kyle said.
"What did you say to me?" Rachel said, "I am not an unfit mother! Billy did you hear what he said to me?" She cried leaning against him.
"I didn't mean it that way," Kyle said.
Knocking on the open door, Summer stepped inside. "Kyle?" she said, "You been over here awhile."
"What is she doing here?" Rachel snarled.
"Is everything…okay?" Summer said, "Billy, what are you doing here?"
"I came to see a friend," Billy said, "I walked into a bit of a mess."
"Diana is coming to stay with us," Kyle said.
"Us?" Rachel said, "No, you don't!" Rachel lunged at Summer, pushing her backwards. "Stay away from daughter!" she screamed.
Kyle and Billy rushed to prevent further altercation. Billy pulled Rachel away, while Kyle tended to Summer. "Are you okay?" he said.
"Yes, I'm fine," Summer said, "What's going on?"
"I'm not sure," Kyle said.
Still holding onto Rachel, Billy said, "Kyle, it's time for the three of you to go."
"No, Billy do something!" Rachel pleaded, "Don't let him do this!"
Handing the baby carrier, to Summer, Kyle said, "Can you please take her outside. I'll be there in a minute."
"Of course," Summer said.
As Summer left the house, Rachel said, "Kyle, please…!"
"Do you see yourself right now?" Kyle said, "This is why I'm taking our daughter. You are sinking deeper into this depression and you have got to find a way to pull yourself out of this."
"But she's my baby," Rachel cried.
"Diana will be well taken care of," Kyle said, "You need someone to help take care of you."
"When did that stop being you?" Rachel sobbed.
"When you pushed Summer, in front of our daughter," Kyle said. He gathered up Diana's belongings and left the house.
"You can't do this to me!" Rachel cried.
"It's going to be okay," Billy said. Pulling her into a hug, Billy held Rachel as she wept.
