I am on a role, maybe I should have borrowed my mums computer years ago.
I haven't even posted chap 2 yet, chap ones not even been up a week and no3 is done.
Literally wrote and edited this before I have to go to work. only problem I forgot to post it about 2 weeks ago.
The first thing the Eleventh Doctor does when they are locked in the cell is find a piece of metal to begin scratching co-ordinates on a stone pillar. While the warrior tries to use his sonic on the door. The 10th Doctor watches on in confusion asking what they are doing.
I watch in amusement; they will never get along. Even if to do so, would help them escape.
The 10th makes a snarky comment about the sonic not working on the door. I'm about to ask the warrior why when the 10th concludes that it is too primitive.
Turning the 11th snaps at him, "Shall we ask for a better quality of door so we can escape?"
Shushing him the 10th turns to the warrior, to ask the question that had been burning into his mind since they those two arrived.
"Okay, so the Queen of England is now a Zygon. But never mind that. Why are we all together? Why are we all here? Well, me and Chinny, we were surprised, but you came looking for us. You knew it was going to happen. Who told you?"
I hold a finger to my lips with a giggle. Swinging my legs in tune with my humming perfectly entertained.
The 11th goes back to scratching his message, turning his back on his younger selves. The older he gets the more lost he looks, poor thing.
"In theory, I can trigger an isolated sonic shift among the molecules, and the door should disintegrate." The warrior says scanning the door with his sonic once again, the 10th argues that it would take years.
"No, no, the sonic would take centuries. Oh, we might as well get started. Help to pass the timey-wimey. Do you have to talk like children? What is it that makes you so ashamed of being a grown up?" Both younger men look at him really look at him for the first time since they have been stuck together and the warrior can see it. "Oh, the way you both look at me. What is that? I'm trying to think of a better word than dread"
His 10th regeneration gets angry at that comment. Asking him how recent it is for him. The warrior does not understand his words how can he, he's not done it yet, has not committed the act that will cause years of self-loathing and hatred. The Doctors darkest day.
The 11th pipes up "The Time War. The last day. The day you killed them all."
I sit up at that, he didn't say we or me it was you as if he pretends that regeneration doesn't exist. How very strange.
The 10 turns to the 11th "We, the day we killed them all." He all but growls. Now that is the face, I was looking to show him, the man who regrets.
The 11TH shrugs turning back to the wall, "Same thing."
I decide to take pity on the man and explain. "It's history for them. All decided. They think their future is real. They don't know it's still up to you."
He turns to me, unbothered that the others can't see me. "I don't talk about it?"
The 10th snaps, thinking he is talking about that day. "You're not talking about it." That's the thing about men who regret they are quick to anger. Anger at themselves turns into anger at the world.
Ignoring his outburst was hard, how can a man who looks so young look so defeated. But I press on, standing up I walk to the warrior's side. "Go on, ask them. Ask them what you need to know." He sighs, "This is why we came here doctor. You have to ask."
He falls heavy into my vacated seat. "Did you ever count?
The 11th, confused asks what he's talking about, never looking away from his task.
"How many children there were on Gallifrey that day."
The room goes eerily silent at his words. The 11th stops his scratching. Still not turning he says.
"I have absolutely no idea." Quiet words said downcast to the floor.
"How old are you now?"
"Ah, I don't know. I lose track. Twelve hundred and something. I think unless I'm lying. I can't remember if I'm lying about my age, that's how old I am." His words are flippant but I can hear the pain he hides from the others this man has lived so long; he has almost given up.
"Four hundred years older than me, and in all that time you've never even wondered how many there were? You never once counted?"
"Tell me, what would be the point." The 11th asks talking an angry step towards him.
The 10th steps into the conversation. "Two point four seven billion."
"You did count." The warrior exclaims.
"You forgot? Four hundred years, is that all it takes?"
"I moved on."
"Where? Where can you be now that you can forget something like that?"
The Warrior takes a step back from the arguing men, shaking his head. He doesn't know who these men are, but they can't be him. I place a comforting hand on his shoulder.
"They're you. They're what you become if you destroy Gallifrey. The man who regrets and the man who forgets. The moment is coming. The Moment is me. You have to decide."
"No."
"Excuse me, that wasn't a request, Doctor. You have to decide." I snap. As the tenth stops his argument with the eleventh to question his no.
"Just no." The warrior says as the 11th starts to laugh.
I ask for an explanation as the 10th asks what is so funny.
"Sorry. It just occurred to me. This is what I'm like when I'm alone."
I've had enough, taking a breath I make myself visible to the others in the room. At their startled gasps, the warrior turns to me.
"Yes, they can now see me."
Dual shouts of Rose, leave me confuse. "You may call me badwolf or lady goddess."
"Rose I don't" The tenth starts only to be interrupted by his eleventh self.
"Lady goddess it is always a pleasure." He says with a smile and a flourished bow.
"But she's." The 10th starts.
"I'll explain later." The eleventh hisses, shooting me a look. I look between both men confused. I suppose they could know Something I don't being trapped in that box had cut off my ability to see all. So I ignore the comment for now.
"It's the same screwdriver. Same software, different case." I explain to hurry them along.
The Warrior catches on quick slapping a hand to his head.
"I'm sorry what?" The tenth asks still completely thrown by my arrival.
"At a software level, they're all the same device, aren't they. Same software, different case."
Neither man is following.
"How can one man be so smart yet so dumb." I ask. The older men look annoyed at my words, I wave to the warrior to explain.
"So, it would take centuries for the screwdriver to calculate how to disintegrate the door. Scanning the door, implanting the calculation as a permanent subroutine in the software architecture and, if you really are me, with your sandshoes and your dickie bow, and that screwdriver is still mine, that calculation is still going on."
Both men pull out their screwdrivers. The elevenths calculations are complete.
I laugh clapping my hands together. "Same software, different face."
"Hey, four hundred years in four seconds. We may have had our differences, which is frankly odd in the circumstances, but, I tell you what, boys. We are incredibly clever." The eleventh laughs walking to the door. When it is swung open, a woman falling in.
"Celesia" I whisper placing a hand over my chest, I knows this girl. No-one in the room heard me call out too busy staring at the young girl in disbelief.
They ask how she did that. She looks between the three men confused admitting it wasn't locked.
I want so much to go over there and talk to her. But I don't know who she is. She falls into easy conversation with the eleventh Doctor. Before it occurs to her to ask.
"All three of you are the Doctor." At the confirmation she continues. "Three of you in one cell, and none of you thought to try the door?"
To defend themself they all, argue that it shouldn't have been locked they were all very confused.
Elizabeth uses this conversation to make her entrance.
"Because I was fascinated to see what you would do upon escaping."
I cannot help but laugh. Catching Clara's attention. She takes a step towards me only to be pulled back by the 11th Doctor whispering something into her ear. She frowns at him shaking his arm from hers.
"Lady goddess." Elizabeth chokes at Clara's words. "It's good to see you." She walks up to me completely unafraid and pulls me into a hug, I freeze.
The Doctor yells Clara's name in shock, begging her to let go.
"She is fine Doctor, though I have no idea what she is doing."
It's the tenth that explains that it's called a hug. I wrap my arms around her back before she lets go, taking a step back she smiles.
"I think I like hugs."
"Everybody likes hugs my lady. You've just escaped haven't you." I nod confused by this human. "I'm glad you are finally free; you deserve every happiness."
"You."
"Yes, my lady I know you, though we won't meet again for some years, and I will but much younger and a little more impulsive."
"A little." The eleventh doctor chokes. We both hush him.
"Well, my dear I can't wait to meet you properly." I say before turning to the queen. "You wanted to show us something your highness."
