Lord Asmodeus. One of the four original Devil Kings. He wasn't the most powerful of the four, but he was the most caring. He was known as the embodiment of lust but never lusted for any woman besides his queen. He didn't seek lovers, power, or material possessions . He had a lust for knowledge. While the other Devil Kings fought amongst themselves for more control, Asmodeus sought more knowledge to improve himself. For knowledge was power; and he had plenty of it.
Every being in the supernatural world knew of the Great War. The war that nearly decimated all sides involved. Like the other Satans, Asmodeus had his own reasons for participating in the bloodshed. Leviathan envied the love humans gave the angels and wished to take revenge for being cast out of Heaven. Lucifer wouldn't allow a beautiful and powerful man such as himself to be cast out without any repercussions, his pride wouldn't allow it. Beelzebub was far too glutinous for battle. But what of Asmodeus? What could have possibly led him to partake into the most catastrophic event in the history of the biblical factions? The answer was simple. For his family. More specifically, his son.
Unlike his fellow Satans, Asmodeus had a strong sense of family. While the other three neglected their children and relied on servants to take their place, Asmodeus felt joy and pride in raising his son, personally teaching him everything he knew. Leviathan and Beelzebub had no expectations for their children. Lucifer found his son's hobby of tormenting others comical, but he never truly cared to make something of him. Asmodeus was different. He knew his son was destined to be a great leader. It was his birthright to take his place as the next Devil King Asmodeus.
His son had become a great man. Worthy to bear the name of Asmodeus. On the battlefield he was nothing less than the perfect warrior. He effortlessly utilized the Asmodeus famed power, Black Demonic Lightning to defeat Angels and Fallen Angels alike. In the meetings with the 72 Pillars he displayed his exceptional political prowess. No one could stand in his way. He truly had the makings of the perfect Devil King. Tragically, Asmodeus knew he wouldn't live to see the day. Especially with what fate had in store.
A couple accompanied by dozens of servants hurried through the halls of their exceptionally large estate. The wife pleaded with her husband to cease any and all preparations he had in store. "Darling you mustn't do this. Think of our son. He needs his father." She was a beautiful woman, appearing to be in her mid to late forties. Her eyes were violet and could entrap anyone's gaze. Her long brown hair flowed behind her as she chased her husband.
"Forgive me Ukina. The Fallen Angels may have surrendered but their pure counterparts have yet to follow suit. If this war is to come to an end I must do what needs to be done" The man replied.
His servants hurried to fasten on his armor as he solemnly marched through the halls. He prepared for his last ditch effort to end the war. There was only one thing left for him to do.
Ukina continued to beg for her husband to stay behind until the two were approached by a red-haired man at the end of the corridor. "You summoned me Lord Asmodeus?" The man asked.
"I did Zeoticus. My son and I trusted you and your family for a millennia. I trust you alone to fulfill my final wish" Asmodeus replied.
The head of the Gremory clan nodded. To his surprise, the Devil King's gray eyes momentarily glowed red as he turned to Ukina. For a moment nothing had occurred, but suddenly Ukina fainted only to be caught by Zeoticus. "My lord, what is the meaning of this?" Zeoticus asked.
"I must depart soon, my friend. The other Satans are awaiting my arrival" Asmodeus turned back to the servants and immediately caught their attention. "I relieve you all from your duties. It isn't safe here. Now go" And so they did. One after another each servant summoned a magic circle and disappeared.
"But what of the Queen? Where shall I take her?" Zeoticus asked.
Asmodeus held up a paper with a magic circle engraved into it. "Use this and everything will become clear." He took Zeoticus' hand and wrapped it around the sheet. "No one can know. Swear to me you won't tell a soul."
Lord Gremory stared into his King's eyes. For years all he had seen in them was strength. The burning might in them had rivaled the sun. But it was gone now. He could only see desperation. "I swear it my king."
Asmodeus sighed. If there was any Devil he could trust to keep their word, it was Zeoticus. None of the other family heads were as honest as he. This Gremory had faithfully served the Asmodeus clan for millenia. He was their servant, advisor, ally, and friend.
"Go now Zeoticus, be with your family. Sirzechs will be crucial to the restoration of our people. I have foreseen it."
Zeoticus gave a final bow to his king while tears welled in his eyes. This was their final meeting. They both knew it. "It has been an honor to serve you my king" He said before using the leaflet given to him.
"Goodbye my old friend" Asmodeus whispered to himself. "Goodbye to you too, my Queen."
Asmodeus reminisced on their union. It had been countless millennia since they'd been cast out of Heaven by God and his damned system. As he and the other Devil Kings built their society, his wife stood by him at every turn. For some great men there was a great woman behind him. But Ukina Asmodeus was always by his side.
He entered the room at the end of the corridor. The walls were decorated with photos of their family. They reminded him of a simpler time. Before the war and all the death that came with it. A time when he could either study in solitude or together with his son. The two shared many sleepless nights, to Ukina's dismay, studying and developing new abilities. There was very little he wouldn't give to relive those nights.
The shine of a bright light captured his attention. In the center of this room sat a large white capsule with control panels on both sides. The capsule was coated in a thin layer of frost, hiding its inhabitant. Asmodeus stepped forth and made some minor adjustments to its settings. He extended his hand onto the glass surface and with one swipe dissipated the frost.
Underneath was a young, handsome man who appeared to be in his mid twenties. He had short brown hair that split into two locks behind his neck. His face was chiseled and had a faint stubble. Asmodeus thought back to days before his son shared his lust for knowledge. In those days he much preferred the company of various women over the experimentations of new magic. He had the Lucifuge girl to thank for settling him down.
Asmodeus lightly touched the capsule before he made some last minute modifications. It took all his strength to step back and retreat to the door. "Sleep my little Devil. Let your dreams take wing" He silently sang. He exited the room and slowly closed the double doors behind him. "One day when you're big and strong" He took a final glance at his sleeping son, tears flowing from his eyes.
"You will be a...king"
