Round 3
Pit vs. Ganondorf
The mood couldn't be more contrasting as the monitors around Smash Stadium with the match graphic. Pit's big smile and 'v for victory' contrasted with the glare of Ganondorf, arms crossed.
"It becomes more and more clear with time," Ganondorf snarled, "That all the other Smashers' are beneath me, Pit especially. If those idiotic subjects of Palutena thought that the beating in the Duel Tournament was brutal, they may want to shield their eyes."
"Does he really think I'm scared of a guy with a sword?" Pit asked, "At least I can admit I struggled with Game and Watch, the way that he talks about Mewtwo you'd think he three-stocked him. "
"My victory against Mewtwo was dominating and inevitable," came Ganondorf's haughty, edited response, "My victory against the weak-willed agent of a tyrannical god will be even more so."
"If he thinks my will to win will be melted by one of my enemies suddenly obtaining a sword, he hasn't seen some of the goons I fought when I kicked Medusa's slimy, reptile-haired butt," Pit declared, "Besides, I beat Legend of Zelda Second Quest in preparation for this. If I can beat an NES game, I can do anything."
"Wow," Cranky gasped as the commentary team appeared on commentary, "The one intelligent thing Pit has ever said. This should be a national holiday!"
'Will you stop!" 9-Volt yelled, "Futaba, give it to me."
"As determined as Pit is, I feel like Ganondorf has this. He's simply too powerful for Pit's fighting style to cope with, plus the added motivation of fighting Zelda in the next round."
"Alright, it's time for entrances!" declared 9-Volt.
Towed by Phos and Lux, Pit zoomed around the arena in his chariot, much to the delight of fans young and old. As Pit landed, his chariot disappeared. A beat of silence was followed by the dirge of an organ playing over the speakers as Ganondorf strode out, accompanied by two Re-Deads. The dread that overtook the arena didn't seem to affect Pit, who seemed as jovial as the Gerudos, the only people cheering Ganondorf. Pit's posing and laughing struck the king with such eternal befuddlement, he missed the introductions. Only the selection of the stage snapped him out of it.
"Oh neat," Pit concluded, "Wily Castle! Always wanted to fight on this stage."
Ganondorf scowled. Pit's sunny disposition was even more sickening ever since he shacked up with the goddess…
The orange-haired warlock shook his head. He couldn't think of this now.
"Yes," snapped Ganondorf.
Mills Frames paused mid-word. Ganondorf had interrupted the Wire Frame.
"What about you Pit?" Mills asked as if nothing had happened, "Are you ready?"
"Yeah, let's go!" Pit pumped his fist in the air eagerly.
At that word, they disappeared.

Pit descended from a pillar of light.

In contrast, Ganondorf stepped through a portal of darkness

A fidgety Pit twirled the two halves of Palutena's Bow. Ganondorf sneered as he stepped into his fighting stance.
GO!
Pit dodged the immediate Wizard's Foot. Even the shoulder check Ganondorf through in response didn't deter Pit from the barrage of slashes Pit unleashed. Pit fired an arrow of light to where he anticipated Ganondorf to be when he staggered backward. But, Ganondorf was quick, dodging the bolt, countering with a palm thrust.
"STAY BACK!" Pit shouted
Two shields appeared at Pit's palm, causing another shoulder charge from Ganondorf to bounce harmlessly away. Ganondorf sneered even deeper.
"Warlock…"
Darkness pulsed in Ganondorf's hand as he pulled back.
"PUNCH!"
Pit sidestepped the punch at the last second, but just as quickly, he found Ganondorf's hand around his throat. The fires of darkness blasted through Pit's entire body, with a kick to the ribs for good measure as he flopped to the floor.
"HAH!" Cranky cackled as Pit retreated, "He's running away."
"Pit doesn't run," 9-Volt protested, "He's going for an item."
It was then everyone noticed a Ray Gun as Pit scooped it up from the jet engine-powered platform on the left. However, a Wizard's Foot immediately closed the distance, the boot to the stomach causing Pit to fly off of the main platform and drop the gun. Arrows of Light and Ray Gun blasts clashed as Pit gently floated down to Ganondorf's level.
"A rootin' tootin' shootout " Cranky cheered.
9-Volt only sighed
Dodging a second Warlock Punch as Pit flew away from the bottom Blast Zone, he flew right into the conjoining parts of the Yellow Devil. With a smirk, Ganondorf jumped into the air, cocking his fist back, and walloping Pit with a Warlock Punch!
Pit: 2
Ganondorf: 3
Unfortunately, Ganondorf's risky shot caused him to be walloped by the rest of the Yellow Devil, Pit using the invisibility of being revived to spin Palutena's Bow to add on more damage.
"This might be the answer for Pit, keep those combos up," 9-Volt announced.
Pit's spinning slices didn't cease, enough for The Yellow Devil to self-destruct, the explosion adding the Ganondorf's mounting list of problems. Catching him in the midst of being launched away from the explosion, Pit spun the Bow over his head. For the final piece of the barrage, Pit launched himself upward, one final slash sent Ganondorf to the Blast Zone.
Pit: 2
Ganondorf: 2
The Yellow Devil was back, firing lasers at Pit. Ganondorf used the mayhem to sneakily grab an Assist Trophy that had spawned on the other side of the stage. Knuckle Joe appeared, teleporting to Pit's position, waylaying him with punches. A final uppercut with a final laser blast sent Pit to the top Blast Zone.
Pit: 1
Ganondorf: 2
The Yellow Devil disconnected, reconnecting on the other side of the arena, knocking Ganondorf to and fro. A Guardian Orbitar-assisted uppercut and a spinning Palutena's Bow brought on the damage. A Wizard's Foot powered through all of it, knocking Pit right into another. At the last second, Pit's wings launched the angel away. Unable to recover, Ganondorf fell limply to the Blast Zone.
Pit: 1
Ganondorf: 1
A Guardian Orbitar shot allowed Ganondorf to clobber Pit with two darkness-infused stomps. This allowed him to grab another Assist Trophy as it spawned. The metallic form of Andross drifted into the background, an exhaled breath spewing melanic space junk at them. A Guardian Orbiter did not protect Pit from the onslaught.
"Oooh, and Pit is getting volleyed," 9-Volt told the crowd.
"I think it's over," Cranky hooted, "Look!"
Ganondorf's body lurched up for the Dark Dive, dark energy electrocuting Pit as Andross' space junk. The final blast of Dark Dive launched Pit into the air, while Ganondorf fell limply to the blast zone. However, even after hitting the camera, Pit fell into the Blast Zone faster.
GAME!
Ganondorf stood in the Smash Mansion Courtyard with his arms crossed, laughing uproariously.
GANONDORF WINS
Pit clapped, but a deep frown was seeded into his usually smiling face.
Rita was alongside Pit, as Ganondorf was teleported to the opposite tunnel.
"Pit, Ganondorf barely squeaked out a win." protested Rita.
"Yeah," Pit nodded morosely, "Ganondorf, you got lucky, and that's not gonna cut the delicious mustard against Zelda, and you know it. Hope you're a happy little wizard pal."
He stomped up the tunnel as a grinning Ganondorf was shown on camera, a shaking Mister Zero. holding a microphone up to him.
"What did I tell you," hissed Ganondorf, "Dominance. Princess, I hope you're ready, ready to acknowledge the superiority of the Triforce of Power."
Dramatically furling his cape. Ganondorf stomped up the tunnel.
Ganondorf tried not to look in Palutena and Pit's direction, the former pelting the despondent latter with kisses. Wario clasped him on the shoulder, yammering about something. He tried not to look in that direction either.
"Green and Red, you are next," ROB droned.
The Smashers' Box was immediately infected with an icy unease as Red and Green power-walked through Tunnels A and B respectively, not saying a word.
