ok so I have no excuses, I am a terrible author, but as I said i will never give up on a story
I'm so sorry for not updating in a while but good news I passed my probation I am an official senior manager whoop whoop
also the first draft of my original story is almost complete,
They all just stand there frozen in place, nobody wanting to make the first move unsure of what comes next.
"Soooo," Jenna claps her hands together, standing she asks, "are we going to eat then talk. Or talk then eat. Or, or we could eat while we talk. Isabella said the cook, is making some crispy garlic chicken thingi, and I am quite hungry."
Jeremy smiles at his aunt's attempt to control the situation. "I could eat. And what is a meal without some awkward conversation, right?"
His grin is almost feral. Reminding Katerina of Kol, she holds up a hand still standing in the doorway, "You're a Mikaelson,"
"Was. I died; my death is actually the reason vampires exist. You're welcome." Katerina is still staring at him open mouthed as Jenna gently guides her towards the kitchen.
[kitchen]
Katerina is the only person in the room who seems comfortable with being served, both Jeremy and Jenna fight against it as their plates are placed in front of them. They choose to eat in silence, the staff may belong to the Mikaelsons but their loyalty may not extend as far as them.
Once they had finished their meal, they ask Isabella to take them to a room they can have a long painful discussion in, she takes them to the upstairs parlour, pointing out rooms as she goes.
Jenna takes extra interest in the room Isabella dubs Niklaus's art studio, even more so when she finds it's locked. Isabella looks troubled at the thought of her breaking into the room. Jenna gives her a breath-taking smile promising she won't enter without express permission.
[parlour]
Isabella stands in the doorway as they take in the room, enquiring if they need anything else. They all decline spreading out across the room Katerina heads straight to the bar pouring three glasses, Jenna doesn't even argue that Jeremy is underage, they're all going to need a drink or two, talking Jeremy's pasts is never easy.
They sat for a while in uncomfortable silence, until Jeremy blurts out "I'm an old soul,"
"That little Gilbert I had already figured out." she cuts him off, with a drole look over her glass.
"Had you also figured out that I am Henrik Mikaelson?" at Katerina's dumfounded expression he continues, "I'm the reason vampires exits, well my death is." He pauses taking deep breath, eyes glittering at the thought of all the suffering his sibling went through. "I was killed by werewolves, torn open," his hand strays to his stomach clenching his shirt absentmindedly "the last thing I remember from that day is the look on Niklaus's face as I died in his arms."
Katerina leans forwards whispering almost afraid of being overheard, "Do they know?"
"No, they don't he won't tell them, point blank refuses."
"They don't need to know, why dreg up the past." He throws his hands up, as he starts pacing the room. "it's an awful thing to do."
"No Jer it's an awful thing to live with, especially if you are around them."
He spins around anguish written across his face. "Then I won't be around them."
"WE are in his house Jer." Jenna is getting louder angrier at the situation they had found themselves in,
Katerina who had been silent until now intervenes filling up Jenna's glass guiding her back into her seat, "Baby Gilbert is right the last thing you want to do is make an original angry and bringing up their dead baby brother is a big no-no." Her eyes dart around the room afraid. "Actually I think we should just forget this whole conversation ever happened. Better safer, than tortured to dead by an Original"
"BUT.."
"Better for everyone Jenna, the Mikaelson are not to be messed with."
Silence overwhelms the room, Katerina stays perched on the arm of Jenna's chair, Jeremy across the room glaring out the window,
"But it's not fair they deserve."
She is cut off by her phone ringing, she fishes it out of her pocket, Katerina lets out a hollow laugh, "Speak of the devil, and he shall know."
Jeremy is staring at the phone in Jenna's hand as she answers the call, he makes helpless eye contact with Katerina, his breath caught in his throat.
Katerina is torn she doesn't know what to do. She's never been good with emotions or people in general, so she chooses to stay perched with Jenna.
"Klaus, we were just talking about you." She ignores the strangled sound from Jeremy.
The line is silent for a few minutes, "Klaus, surely your years of experience tells you not to keep a woman waiting." She laughs.
"Who are you, because I know my brother doesn't have any friends?"
"Elijah." Katrina breaths.
"Katerina! How,?"
"Elijah, I presume," Jenna makes a face, "why do you have your brothers phone?"
Jeremy laughs adding "Still don't trust him do you Elijah."
"Who are you, do you work for him, is that why you have Katerina?"
She chooses this moment to speak up. "He let me go Elijah," At the sharp intake of breath she talks faster, as if she is going to lose him again, "I'm with," she pauses looking at the two humans with her, "friends, they are friends, mutual friends your brother and I share, Jenna told him to let me come with her and he said OK. Does that mean I'm free? I don't know. But for now I can stop running, and I think I really need a break from all the running." She finishes in a whisper, unshed tears coating her lashes, she takes a jagged breath as Elijah once again whispers her name.
"Katerina where are you? I will."
"No, you will stay with your brother, he needs you he won't say it out loud, but he needs you."
"Jenna I presume," amusement coating his voice, "Just how did you get my brother to let Katerina go?"
"I just asked."
"Hmm."
They hear Klaus in the background entering the room asking why Elijah has his phone. There is a slight scuffle causing the inhabitants of the room to laugh.
"Who is this?" The anger is palpable.
"You do know called ID is a thing dear just look at the screen. Unless of course, you haven't saved my number Niklaus I'm hurt." Wide-eyed Katerina mouths Jenna's name in horror.
"Jenna, love. What are you doing calling, I thought I was going to call you in the morning?"
"Your brother called me; guess he was just wondering who your mysterious bff was."
"Bff?"
"Yeah, best friend forever." Pausing at his scoff. "Don't roll your eyes at me."
"You can't possibly know that."
"Ohh I know, be nice. Or else."
"Jenna!" Katerina sounded truly scared for the human.
"You know what for that, I'm breaking into your art studio." She hangs up ignoring his spluttering.
She throws the phone on the couch ignoring the fact that he is calling her back. Crossing the room she pulls Jeremy into a bone crushing hug, "It's your call, I don't like it but if you don't want to tell we won't right kat."
Startled she looks up, "Right."
Katerina fiddles with her hands debating whether to ask the one question that had played her mind since Alaric's home. Until Jeremy finally asks her what's wrong.
"Why, why chose to help me, why leave, why leave Elena behind."
"Elena isn't my niece." Jenna snaps. "I mean, she is but she isn't, I promised my sister I'd take care of her kids but Elena has done everything in her power to push us out and put herself in danger, I mean she brought Niklaus here, so I'm now doing what's best for Jeremy, on her head be it, she did this, I can't protect someone from their own stupidity." She finishes her chest heaving; Jeremy leads her back to her seat where Katerina places her drink back into her hand. "I tried, I really really tried." Tears are streaming down Jenna's face; Jeremy turns to Katrina wide eyed not knowing what to do.
"I got this little Gilbert."
"I'm just gonna." Katerina nodded as he leaves the room choosing to focus on Jenna sobbing in her arms the drinks spilling out of her glass as sobs shake her body.
