The next day

Jeremy wandered around the house aimlessly, not wanting to leave until he had told the others about the vampires skulking around the garden.

He looks up and down trying to decide where to start, distracted by the painting on the wall, he stares at the picture of Rebeka, wondering where she is. It's not like her to be far from Niklaus, they always had each other's back, always and forever. Such a child's promise one so easily broken.

He reaches out running a hand along the golden frame, if he focuses enough he can almost hear her laughing, his sweet sister never without a smile. He can almost feel her embrace, the tight hugs that chased away the darkness that encompasses their father's heart.

"She's beautiful isn't she." It's the maid from earlier, the one he hurt, that startled him from the past. "The lady Rebeka." She nods at the painting. "She's beautiful." She repeats, slower, quieter, worried that she has angered him.

He just nods trying to gather his thoughts, the past and the present muddling in his mind. "I'm sorry, for the other day, I didn't mean." She shakes her head holding her arms out, in a surrendering motion offering her own apology, for not paying enough attention.

"I should be getting back to work." She inclines her head rushing off down the hall.

"Wait." Freezing she angles her head to look back. "Have you seen my aunt or Kat anywhere." Shaking her head she admits she hasn't seen them, she's pretty sure that they are still in bed, if the amount of empty bottles in the study were anything to go by.

[Jenna's room]

Jenna wakes with a groan the knocking on the door rattling her brain. She tries to tell them to go away, but all that comes out is a croak, her toungue like sandpaper. Rolling over she burries her head into her pillow.

"Jenna its almost one you've slept all morning." Jeremy yells still banging on the door. She groans into her pillow as he throws open the door flicking the light on. "Did you miss me saying it's almost one you might want to check your phone."
Finally Jenna sits up he hair sticking up every which way, reaching blindly for the glass of water on her bed side. Chugging it down, she drops the glass on the bed.

"What Jeremy, what could you possibly want?" She snaps tangling a hand in her already tangled hair.

"Aunt Jenna are you hungover?"

"Yes. Yes she is." Katherina appears in the door way with a grin. "Want some of this?" She holds up a glass, contents obviously blood.

She groans out a no.

"I think you should, because your phone has been ringing for 2 hours, I would have answered it but we both know that is a terrible idea."

"Gimmi." Jenna makes childish grabby motions at the glass. Knocking back the contents with a grimace.

"Just in time, lightweight."

"Klaus, did you have a nice run?"

"I have been trying to call you for hours, before noon you said."
"I might have slept in. It was a long drive and I was very tired. So don't get snippy with me, surely in all your thousand years you learnt some manners." She snaps the blood not working fast enough to take out her headache.

"You said before noon." He snaps back anger apparent in his voice.

"I'm to tired for this call me back when you have a better attitude."
And once again Jenna Sommers hangs up on klaus Mikealson.

Katerina turns to Jeremy, "How she is still alive, I don't know."

"He likes her, very few people are willing to disagree with him."
"Both of you out." She shouts falling back into bed pulling the cover over her head, not flinching as both glasses roll to the floor.

"Before we leave, there were two vampires prowling around the grounds last night be careful, they can't get in the house but the grounds are free rein."

"Does New Orleans have a big vampire presence."
"The biggest, NO is home to the big three." Katerina admits.

"The big three." She throws the blanket off her face.

"Yeah, Aunt Jenna, the big three vamps, wolves and witches."

Nodding along Katerina adds. "This is like a hot spot for the supernatural, even humans know that."

"Yes, but humans think it's all fake." Jenna stresses the last word pulling herself up with one last groan, she pulls herself out of bed. Burrying her phone under the pillow as it rings again, Klaus no doubt. "I'm going for a shower be gone when I get back."

It's an hour later that they see Jenna again on the phone, crossing the grounds to joining them in the garden. Sat together Jeremy and Katerina listen to the one-sided conversation enjoying their late dinner in the gardens.

"Wait you what?"

"So what is your plan."

"That is a terrible plan."

"Wait with who? Are you mad?"

"I swear you don't have any sense, has old age broken your brain."

"Well good look with that I guess, though I doubt you'll get any luck."

"It not logical Nic."

"Well do remember to call, on your adventure. I'd love to hear how terrible you're doing. Say hello to everyone Nik." She has finally reached them, holding out the phone and placing it on speaker.

Jenna gives both Jeremy and Katerina a look until they offer a tentative hello.

"Katerina, young Jeremy."

'Young Jeremy', he mimes to Katerina offended.

"Is your brother there to say hello?" Jenna says ignoring the 'kids'.

"Unfortunately Elijah is indisposed at the moment." Seeing her nephew and the doppleganger flinch, she presses the issue demanding to know what that meant, ignoring the shaking heads and waving hands.

Katerina dives forwards ripping the phone from her hand hanging up. "He means he's shoved a dagger in his chest and locked him in a coffin."

Jeremy frowns but agrees with Katerina's assessment.

"But why would he do that."

"Because he is a monster."

"No he's not, I've met monsters my brother isn't a monster."

"He's lives 1000 years that would turn anyone into a monster."
"No, not Nik, he was the kindest of us all. He wouldn't."

"I have spent years running from him, he killed my entire family." Katerina stresses throwing her hands in the air, willing Jeremy to understand that his brother has changed since his death.

"Enough, both of you go to your rooms." Jenna snaps, waving them away as she grabs a sandwich. "Ah, you choose to stay now you are my ward, so your room until I say otherwise Kitten." She says seeing her go to object. "Now."

Waiting until Katerina is out of hearing range, she slowly eats 2 sandwiches before calling him back, she has questions she needs answering. Before the end of the day, before she can speak to Jeremy again.

"So you keep the members of your family in coffins, that's dark and twisty even for an original vampire."

"I do this to protect them." Jenna pulls the phone away from her ear, frowning down at it.

"I have more questions."
"I would assume you do love."

"How does it protect them?"
"From our father."

"He was a bad man."
"He was a viking."

"That doesn't answer my question Nik."

"Yes, it does." Those words sound so tired, ancient. Alone.

"I'm sorry Nik."

"Don't be, he is what he is."

"Do they know." She whispers, her heart bleeding for this broken man who had lived centuries running from an abusive father, never able to truly escape him. Doing the worst just to keep his family alive.

"No."

"We need to have a very long chat about communication when we see each other next."

"You could always come down to Chicago to help."

"How would I be of help." She laughs throwing a grape into her mouth.

"A friendly face does wonders sometimes." He's laughing at her, and she knows it.

"Who will watch Katerina and Jeremy."

"They are both adults" He argues.

"Jeremy is a child and Katerina acts like a misbehaving toddler 9/10ths of the time. So either I stay, or we all come."

"Well that would be quiet the trip wouldn't it love." As he talks, she takes a minute to eat another sandwich, gulping down some orange juice.

"I would ground all three of you." She laughs refilling her glass.
"I'm older than you love."

"You don't act it." She replies in a sing song voice.

"Rude love. Very rude."

"I secrety think you like it; I mean you haven't killed me yet."

"There is still time love." He laughs.

"Hush now, I have things to do, but preferably the big bad hybrid will send me a text with everything I need to know about the big three that live in New Orleans, please."

"You having problems already."

"Just some vamps sculking around, when we first arrived."

"Ok, it's now non-negotiable, meet me in Chicago."

"Excuse me, Klaus Mikaelson."

"Non-negotiable, don't trust unknown vamps."
"We have Kat."

"You are living in my house, I have a lot of enemies, if they are sculking around my house you're in danger."

"Chicago, it is. But you have to let Elijah out. You know so we can finally meet."

"I'll think about it. Now go pack up I'll send you the address when you're ready."
