I have no explanation to why I've been gone so long, but good news I got my new laptop.
As I've said before I will never abandon a story I just have terrible scheduling skills. And as such never have the time.
Hope you guys enjoy the chapter.
Kol and Jeremy had a great day wandering around all of Kol's favourite haunts. Though he though it a good idea to keep his baby brother away from the witches of New Orleans, vapid self-serving creatures he calls them as if he didn't use them for his own gain.
"But that's different." Kol argues, "With old souls witches are leeches, I on the other hand have a symbiotic relationship with the witches, they gave me magical solutions I gave them knowledge."
If they found out Jeremy was an old soul, they'd all come crawling out of the cracks for a piece of him. A human Mikaelson, they'd have a field day. Just because a witch cannot harm an old soul doesn't mean they wouldn't hold it over their sibling's head, there are many ways to harm a person.
They didn't speak much about their shared past, Kol choosing instead to act as a tour guide, for his baby brother. He stops at the large cast iron gate in the centre of town, resting a hand on the Mikaelson's crest woven into the gate.
"The Abattoir, this was our home once upon a time."
"And now it is mine, the Mikaelson's fled from this city, I stayed. I rebuilt this city. I am King now."
"Piss of Marcellus." Kol hisses, taking care not to draw to much attention to the boy at his side.
"Am I wrong." The other man taunts. Noticing the young human at Kols side.
"Am I the right Mikaelson to be pissing off, unlike my sibling I'll rip your heart out." Kol says it so calmly, as if mutilating a man is something that comes up in everyday conversation.
Jeremy stays silent through the aggressive exchange. Trying to be as invisible as possible, until the man speaks to him directly.
"You should know every human that gets a little too close to his family dies."
"I'm well aware of their penance for death, murder and the occasional torture." Jeremy sasses, pretending to be unfazed by the confrontation.
He knew his family had changed in the thousand years since his death but the knowledge of that fact and seeing it firsthand are very different things. All he wants to do is go back home, back to before he found them. Back to when he was just the weird brother in mystic fall.
Or better Back to the beginning, back to when he had a true family; back to when Niklaus would cuddle him close on stormy nights. Or when Rebeka would braid his hair so he would look just like a big strong warrior just like is brothers. He fights back tears as the argument Infront of him is getting more and more heated. Kol stepping in front of Jeremy to shove marcel back away from him.
Turning away he heads towards the bayou to clear his head.
[A few hours later at the house]
Kol returned home alone, much to his annoyance, he has no idea when he lost Jeremy. Once he had finished giving Marcellus his verbal lashing, he turns to laugh it off with his baby brother only to find him gone. Assuming he had returned home, he heads there too. Katerina is less than impressed that her baby Gilbert is missing, but one threat from Kol sends her scurrying upstairs to call Jenna no doubt. Who is most definitely tattling to Elijah and Nik, Kol doesn't have much time to find him.
He wanders onto the grounds to look for him, instead stumbling across Finn, sat brooding in the orchid, reading a book.
"Hello brother have you found anything odd, here."
"Go away Kol."
"That's no way to talk to your little brother, I'm just asking a question. Speaking of questions; Don't you find the baby Gilbert reminds you off someone?"
"Go away Kol."
"Don't you recognise him, from anywhere?"
"Kol you are being psychotic; everybody has told you the boy is no danger, just leave him alone for Odin's sake." Finn snaps his book closed, stalking back towards the house pausing he adds. "Don't think we don't all know you disappeared off with the boy this morning, whatever maniacal thing you've done to him best be reversable or his aunt might put you back in your coffin herself."
"He's right Kol. Where did you put the kid?" Rebeka asks coming out of the house.
He shrugs nonchalant, what can he say he can't admit to losing him during an argument with her ex-lover.
"Kol, I get it, this is all weird and wrong, but Jenna and Jeremy are good people. Jenna is the reason we have our freedom, please don't mess it up for us."
"Don't worry Bex I just wasn't ready to come back just yet, wanted to get in a little more sightseeing, this is supposed to be a break for me and Aunt Jenna after all." Jeremy explains making his presence known as he walks around the corner.
"Now where did you wander off too baby gilbert?"
Jeremy shrugs, he's in no mood to talk to any of his siblings right now, turning he walks back into the house. Rebeka sends Kol a scowl as the two of them follow him in.
Turning to Rebeka as they reach the sitting room, he asks her if she had heard any of his conversation with Finn.
"You sounded like a lunatic, as always brother."
Jeremy laughs at her honest answer. His sister had never been one to mince her words.
"Well, did you know dear sister than old souls are not all knowing. Jeremy." He turns to the man in question waiting for his nod of agreement to continue.
"I'm not sure what you mean." Rebeka admits looking between the two.
"Jeremy here must have known us in his past life, to know us now. Isn't that, right?" Jeremy sighs, he knows what Kol's doing and doesn't appreciate it one bit. He knew this would happen; he should have just stayed away.
"Baby Gilbert are you going to answer the question?" Kol smirks "Or better yet, Rebeka does baby Gilbert remind you of anyone?"
"What are you talking about Kol of course he doesn't."
Jeremy sits hard on the arm of the sofa, taking a deep shuddering breath he looks at his sister, "It's me Rebeka, I'm Henrik."
Rebeka whips around grabbing her grinning brother by the throat slamming him up against the wall.
"What is wrong with you? Do you think this is funny? And getting the silly little human in on it too." With each sentence she slams him into the wall.
"You used to braid my hair, tell me I'd be as mighty as Thor himself one day, if only I'd stop following Kol around acting as mischievous as Loki."
Rebeka loosens her grip on Kol's throat lowering him to the ground without letting go.
"Anyone could have told you that story." She whispers, her voice cracking as she speaks.
"You took me gathering with you once, mother told you I wasn't allowed because I'd get too tired, but you took me anyway. And I did get tired, so you had to carry me all the way home even though I was too old to be carried anymore, you picked me up on your hip, and carried me all the way to the forest edge. You woke me and told me to wait for you there while you went back and got the food we picked. Said it would be our little secret. Mum would never know."
Neither moved once the little story was over, Kol gently removed his sister's hand from his throat. With that one motion Rebeka seemed to come alive, spinning on her heels she barrels into Jeremy in her haste to reach to him. Knocking them both to the couch in a tight hug, Rebeka refused to release. Laughing Kol flops onto the seat next to them flicking the Tv on.
They stay like this all night in their own little bubble, chatting and cuddle, it had been a long time since they had made a little Viking pile. Rebeka asks lots of questions, but she is mostly glad that she isn't last to know. She is angry that Jeremy didn't want to tell them who he is. But gets over it quickly when he points out that his very human life span, means that he won't be around forever. Old souls cannot be turned into vampires. He will live and die as a human nothing can change that.
[Upstairs]
Finn lays awake in his bed. The moment he had heard Henrik, no Jeremy speaking downstairs all he had wanted to do was go down there and speak to him. He wants to apologise for all the wrongs he has done, not being the big brother Henrik deserved. But he cannot, he was never truly their family. He was as close to his sibling as his parents were. They do not need him. They probably don't even want him around. How could they, he was a monster. Elijah was their big brother. He was the one to step in when father went too far. He was the one to fix up their cuts and bruises when mother ignored them. All Finn did was wish them away, wish that they would go, and Freya would come back to him, he was a monster. As soon as the others were back, he would thank Jenna for her hand in his undaggering and he would leave.
Thank you everyone who has stuck with me this far.
I'm not sure what I'm going to do with Finn just yet any suggestions.
